The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

Excellent food and excellent service, lovely atmosphere. Blythe was very attentive and we will definitely be returning soon.

Food very poor, as was the service. This is quite the worst experience in all of the years eating in Brewers Fayre restaurants.

Our final visit to the Bonnie Prince before it closes and becomes a Hickory Smokehouse. Great service from the staff as always, especially April. So helpful and makes sure everything is 100% right and everyone is happy. Great to hear we will see her again at the Merlin in the future

Pleasant welcome and greeting from staff Food ok but ROAST POTATOES hard and stale so inedible Meat small and badly carved!

I’ve been in on many occasions but haven’t left a review. I had an English breakfast with friends. It was typical run of the mill food. It was fine, I had no problems with it. Knocked a star off because they only have fried eggs and not scrambled. I know they can cook it to order but it would be nice to have both options out anyway. Nice coffee!

We have been a few times now food it excellent Katalin is a lovely person and very passionate about her duty.

the drinks were great and service speedily and the bar staff were friendly and welcoming. the food was exceptionally excellent and we will definitely be returning!

We eat here regularly as there is never an issue with our extra requests. Claire is fantastic, she knows which table my son likes and if possible when we book she will hold it for us. She always has a smile and goes above and beyond to to make us ( difficult customers to most) at ease and nothing is too much trouble

Quiz with Tom and Sam was great, they kept it fun and fair with their questions. The pub had some great vibes all round and the staff were very friendly and accommodating!

We used to frequent this pub years ago and loved it. Now back in the area and disappointed is an understatement. Slow, unfriendly service completely overshadows what was once a fantastic place. Have now given it 3 chances but to no avail. Such a shame.

Stopped here onway to birmingham airport for a carvery, was really nice, staff were friendly it was quiet and value for money highly recommend

Good spot on the river. Food was very good and service great at the beginning but then they seemed to forget abut us post main course so a very long wait for dessert menus etc which was a shame ( and odd as by this time the restaurant very quiet) . Nice ambience and would not hesitate to go again as all the food coming out looked nice.

Went for dinner last night, the service was quick yet considerate, I had a peroni that tasted great not flat like you get at other places, the ribeye steak was incredible and the gammon steak equally as good! Highly recommend the peppercorn sauce. Server was amazing.

I recently visited The Dog at Pentrich, expecting a pleasant meal, but the experience was far from it. Throughout the entire dinner, a group of clearly intoxicated locals crowded the bar, swearing loudly and creating a disruptive atmosphere. What made it worse was when we raised our concerns with the waitress, who merely shrugged it off, stating, “They’re regulars.” This response was unacceptable—regulars or not, no one should have to endure such behavior while dining. The lack of attention to basic customer service ruined what could have been a nice evening. I won’t be returning, or be a ‘regular’ myself
