The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

Was greeted as soon as we walked in, friendly welcome.. Ed is a real asset to your team - service quick and food was spot on.

We sat outside as it was a lovely day and we also have a puppy, we had to change tables as there were dog 💩 all around us as our dog was covered all on one side where he laid, tables were also covered in bird 💩, great breakfast shame about the garden not being cleaned up before they opened for business.

Used to be a great place but with small portions, high prices and anaemic under cooked chips it's not the place it was - seems it's down to the all too often kiss of death, hand a successful business down to your offspring and watch it go downhill faster than a Gloucester cheese. Good scenic location but not recommended.

Might have had a makeover but same old miserable service from bar staff. Both the bar maid and supervisor were awful, no smiles, no acknowledgement or conversation. This place never changes

We stayed for 1 night in a chalet at the rear of the carpark, there was 1 issue on arrival of which was delt with instantly. The beds were comfy ( we had a twin ) there was no noise from the pub. We ate at the pub that evening starting with lemon and garlic chicken wings, yum followed by lamb chops on a bed of mediterranean veg and cous-cous, so much flavour in the cous-cous and the chops, fabulous, would have again in a heart beat. The staff at the pub had a smile and time for us, an exceptional stay at a very fair price.

So disappointing, an hour and a half wait for food with only a 45 min wait displayed on the tills. When food arrived it was cold and dry (like it had been sat waiting to be served). It seemed like everyone was waiting a substantial amount of time and when you consider the price it really isn’t worth the money or the wait. Such a shame as front of house staff are friendly but there isn’t enough of them. Take your money somewhere else.

9 of us dined here and it was excellent - speedy service, delicious food, and a surprise cake for my mum's birthday. Our waitress Jo was lovely. We can't fault it and will be back.

Went for shopping, popped in as hungry, did not disappoint. Pancakes with fruit 😋 my new all time favourite. Grace served me

Service was shocking all looked like they didn't want to be there and like they already had an issue with you.. about 3 members of staff on all rude.Took our meals to the wrong table after waiting half an hour then 3 tables that ordered after us got there meal and ares came another half an hour later.I had steak which was just about warm and VERY fatty for a sirloin. Partner had burger which was same temperature and nothing special.Overall probably the worst meal and service I've ever recieved.. whole table outside full of plates and empty glasses attracting flies etc. Do not go.

Absolutely disgusted by the way we were treated by staff tonight. We bought a bottle of wine at 9pm and under an hour later we were told to leave even though we had not finished our wine. The staff were rude and unprofessional prior to telling us to leave, shouting across the room to each other. This is definitely a place to avoid and I will certainly never go there again!

Came to lockkeeper with family for breakfast, it was so busy and the staff were so rushed off their feet. Tracey stood out and was particularly helpful regardless of being so busy. She was so polite and knowledgeable about the services available. Will be coming again.

Good relaxed pub with nice food - we just had fish and chips and Bakewell pudding. Very friendly - lots of well behaved dogs. Good service. Prompt and helpful. We were served by Sylvia’s who was nice and chatty and efficient.
