The Lock Keeper in Bassetlaw

We came here for a carvery meal which was good except for the amount of meat we were given which was tiny, half a slice of turkey and half a slice of beef, we had expected a bit more. We went to order a dessert but had run out of our choices so we didn't bother.

All 3 meals luke warm. scampi worst ever had in a pub, over priced, rock hard garden peas on all 3 meals. chewy steak overall not good 1st and last time will visit.

Thought the wife and i would treat our self for a meal out so we thought we will go to the Lock keeper. We went in ordered a drink and found a table to look at the menu. We decided to go for fish and chips 1 with garden peas and 1 with mushy. So i went and ordered and payed for our meal and went back to my wife to wait for our meal. As it got to a 35 min wait we decided to ask a member of staff were our meal was and she said she will go and see. She then came straight out with our meals and put them on the table. Well my wife and i looked at each other and could not believe what we was looking at, the fish was well dried out and as hard as a rock as if its been under the heat lamp and they forgot all about it. So we called the waitress over to complain and tell her we was not going to eat it and she said she will tell them to cook us 2 more meals. After 5 mins. she came back out and said there was no more fish so by that time we was so fed we told them not to bother and we went and got a refund. We will not be going back the the Lock Keeper unless it improves a lot. we could understand if it was busy but only had a handful of people in and we could only see 1 other couple eating. Oh also please teach your staff to smile because it DOES go along way.

We have visited your establishment many times and been Happy with the service and meal Recently I have been told I am pre diabetic so I thought we would attend again. The wife could have carvery I’ll have mixed grill. At the bar was told no mixed grill, no matter I said I’ll have carvery and just add veg. My plate had 2millimeters of belly pork, and a sliver of beef. I opted for no Yorkshire or stuffing obviously. Went to veg to find only carrots I could have. The cabbage was coated in some sugar solution and only peas and colleflower with a sugared cheese. Paid Sunday price for wafer thin meet and 5 chopped carrots. The server noticed I was unhappy told my wife to bring back my plate, but it’s too embarrassing to ask for more! Shocking veg choice!

My daughter and I were out with her three dogs and decided to call in for lunch. The staff we very welcoming and friendly and made us feels very comfortable. The carvery was excellent and they even gave us some extra meet for the dogs, such a lovely touch. Alex, the server was so helpful and deservers a special mention, although the other staff, whose names I don't know, were also a credit to the establishment.

Had a lovely time, greeted by wonderful staff, shout out to Chloe and Elise. Amazing carvery at great value. Would definitely come again :)

My wife and I went for lunch with two freinds in order to use a 30% off voucher, our two freinds had a lasagna and scampi the lasagna was excellant and the scampi was satisfactory. My wife wanted gammon but it wasnt available whereas I wanted rump steak and that wasn't available neither, so we settled for sirloin steak sadly it was very tough we did mention this when asked by the waiter but no comment was forthcoming. I asked for two pints of a traditional british pint but that wasn't available niether so we settled for lager. The day we went was the day after a bank holiday Monday which perhaps explains the shortages. Disapointing!!

Staff were very pleasant and helpful, food was good but the cleanliness of the toilets was terrible. The toilets in the family area need a deep clean. the floors and corners are disgusting and they need new seats. Unfortunately this has put me off going untill this is sorted.

Check in was easy with friendly staff ,explained everything that you needed to know Emily was a great host an looked after us well

We booked in for a family Birthday celebration. There was 10 in our party, ages from 12, to 73 years of age. Everyone enjoyed their meal, which varied from the carvery to a mixed grill. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening and well worth the money ! A special mention must go to the two young ladies, Olivia and Ashleigh who were on duty. They couldn't have been more helpful or a credit to the company ! We will call again soon !

Me and my partner came for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back again soon. Paige served us and was really friendly, my partner had a carvery and said it was better than his mums, I had the lasagne with chips. Absolutely delicious. Paige checked on us and made sure the meals were okay and took our plates after, she also explained that because we didn't have room for a pudding, we could take some home for £9. What a bargain!! The lemon meringue is gorgeous!

Came here for tea and decide to have a carvery and I must say the standards have definitely improved since the last time we came before lockdown. As we approached the deck a Smiling and cheerful young man named Kaine greeted us and asked us about our day and had a great laugh whilst serving us the food was delicious and piping hot so glad we decide to come back shout-out to the place for improving and to the young chap who served us

Another fabulous visit at The Lockkeeper, the pub was very busy but that didn't affect our visit whatsoever, the atmosphere was brilliant. Everyone was so bubbly and attentive, food was lovely, carvery smelt amazing we had a wonderful time.

Went for a quick late night snack and ended up having nachos, mac and cheese and chicken strips! all tasted amazing! we was served by whitney and the food was brought out by emily. both had great smiles and made us laugh! be back again next week!
