We sat outside as it was a lovely day and we also have a puppy, we had to change tables as there were dog 💩 all around us as our dog was covered all on one side where he laid, tables were also covered in bird 💩, great breakfast shame about the garden not being cleaned up before they opened for business.

Sophia 😀😁🙂 is the most amazing waiter she treats us and a respect she is lovely friendly caring and she is Passionate about her job I think she is needs a promotion. The food is amazing there is a lots amazing Flavor the drink are also lovely. Thank you for amazing service 🙂😁😀 :).

Good seasonal food and free overnight parking of our camper van. Friendly, attentive service from Sophia. Large outdoor space just needed some fine weather!

So disappointed with out visit today. It's very true the food is very hit and miss at this pub. Never consistent. But today's meal was a disaster from start to finish. It's not cheap for a Sunday lunch here so the least I would expect was quality and service . Our food came out and they had forgotten the sausage on my daughters turkey and sausage lunch . I had to go find some one to ask for cutlery well after the food was dropped off at the table . I had ordered on the app for table service and a glass of water and a large soda and lime were no were to be found so had to stand in a que to order those two drinks at the bar . The food and extra sides we ordered came out with about a 15 min gap And the elusive sausage from my daughters dinner never came I had to go ask again. When I did it came out in 5 mins and had been deep fried to within an Inch of it's life so was never eaten anyway (see picture) The potatoes were dry dry like wall paper paste and the Yorkshires were burnt and oily . We were also served a carrot that had clearly started rotting. Yet was cooked and served on my plate. And a parsnip that wasn't even slightly cooked . Beyond disappointed. I don't feel like complaining to the manager would have helped after the look I got and shrugged shouldered who gives a toss when I asked for a sausage . Such a pity as I'm a regular here . Consistency seems to be an issue in most places these days.

Flew into East Midlands airport hungry and tired. We'd been in a plane, we hadn't actually flown, clearly. Decided to take a detour to The Trent lock as we'd heard good reports about the pub and food. Happy to review the visit and report that all the good things were true. Gorgeous pub with an excellent exterior to enjoy. The meals we had were delicious and thoroughly enjoyed. The place is comfortable, welcoming and the staff were friendly and helpful. We departed sated, rested and ready for the final leg of our journey home. Recommended.

Excellent food and excellent service given by Molly and colleagues. We were at The Trent Lock to celebrate my wife's birthday and all eleven of us enjoyed the occasion. We ordered lots of different meals and they all arrived together. Brilliant!

I have never been here before so I suggested it to the girls and everyone was happy to go even though it was far for some of us. The pub is absolutely lovely and the staff are so welcoming and very helpful especially with our food allergies. When we ordered I couldn't believe the amount of options for vegans I was pleasantly surprised. When the foid arrived I couldn't believe the portion sizes especially the beef and red wine pie, it looked amazing. All proper home cooked food, it was absolutely delicious. I can definitely recommend this pub and I will definitely be going again 👍🤩

Food was great with a large selection on the menu. Large variety of drinks on offer at the bar. Great location at the side of the River Trent, with a great beer garden for the summer. The downsides were many of the starters were unavailable to order. And appreciating it is not always possible, after requesting a table near a window when booking, this was not met

We visited for mothers day, first time visiting here. Set menu was a bargain for the different choices there was, very good value for money. Sunday trio was lovely the only issue that was a let down on the meal was it being only just warm, roast potatoes were tough and had been sat for a long time struggled to cut them. A lovely walk down the river and a nice warm drink by the fire at Trent Lock. Would highly recommend - lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great location.

Stopped here as a motorhome stopover. Fantastic welcome, very friendly landlord, helpful polite staff, and dog friendly, meal was superb, location beautiful. Cannot recommend this highly enough. Ignore the approach, it’s well worth the drive when you get here. Definitely a hidden gem.
