The White Post in Newark and Sherwood

I booked to visit the white post a week in advance, for my son's 4th birthday with family. We placed our food orders and after a hour of waiting a member of staff came to tell us the grill had stopped working and could only do limited food. We wasn't to pleased with this, with waiting a hour and now having to wait a lot longer for food we didn't want. So we decided to take a refund. They offered a apology but no extras or vouchers for our time wasted and for the children waiting so long for food they never got. Very very disappointing.

Party of 8 including 3 under 5's, we spotted the super play area and asked to be moved, nothing was too much trouble. All staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was as to be expected from a Marston Pub, it hit the spot. An altogether memorable experience.

Ordered on the special daily deal steak x2.came out fresh and hot, steak was a little grissley on one of them, but overall lovely meal.

I would make a bad review and write my reason. But the manager will just say I’m lying, like everyone else that’s had a bad experience here. Not friendly staff Made to feel unwelcome Cold food

Previously iv had good and bad experience’s at this pub but lately the food quality and offers have improved. Ideal for pub grub food, it is what it is you get what you pay for. Play area inside is a nice added extra.

Me, my family and friends all came for our evening meal after a lovely day out at the farm. We were greeted by a lovely, well-mannered young lady, who seated us to a table by the window. The atmosphere was warm, and welcoming. Shortly after our arrival, the same lady, Abi, served us at the bar, and made us aware of the deals of the day! Dylan and Mason, bought out our food with huge smiles, and offered to bring us anything we required. Overall, it was a fantastic experience! We will definitely be back again!!

Came today with my family the service was excellent and the food tasted fantastic I had the sirloin steak and it was cooked to perfection

Me and my friends came today 31/12/24 for a few drinks and a bit of food before going out after, first of all the drinks were perfect and the food was amazing i had the ultimate chicken burger as suggested by the guy with brown hair on the bar everything was warm and the gravy was a nice touch will definitely be returning and telling my friends about this beautiful establishment thank you white post.

We arrived at around 2:00pm for a meal at the white post, it was my sons birthday so the family got together. And it was a beautiful time we had. The food was amazing, and the state it was in, the way it was presented was astounding. The atmosphere around us was warm, as up and down both ends of this big building have big doors, there is no draft whatsoever. My son had a kids meal, and it came out first, which I noticed. We talked to a lovely member of staff, a young boy, with brown hair, and he was lovely greeting us as we walked in. The food was lovely, and the kids area for my son was tidy, and the colouring books and pencils on the station nearby were neat. The drinks were amazing, and the young girl at the bar was always checking with us, and was a great help. Thank you white post for making this meal such a great experience. We hope to be back soon. 5 star service, 3 star food. Brilliant service at the White Post yesterday. They found us a table by the window without steps and with plenty of space for my elderly mum and her walker. The service could not have been better. The food was average - a dry crust on the pie, poor onion rings, uninspired burger, passable lasagne. But overall a pleasant experience because of the outstanding personable service. Thank you.

Had a 30% voucher through the post so decided to treat the family to food & what a treat it was. The food & service was excellent & would definitely recommend to everyone.

Ordered sirloin steak came on a very small plate. Steak was very hard couldn't eat it got asked if I wanted to change it or refund changed it for pie which was OK. No mention of refunding price difference and money back for sauce. Very dissapointing.

Booked for 4:30 for Sunday lunch carvery. We arrived and no table was reserved for us so they sat us on a table of 6 there was 8 of us 4 adults and 4 children. Then we was told carvery had finished even though the website states served till 8pm. Then tried to order a mixed grill which consists of sausage gammon steak and chicken and again told they was sold out yet but everything else on menu was available like the steak meal or gammon meal or hunters chicken or sausage and mash? So all the ingredients for a mixed grill. The meals came and the waitress asked if we wanted any cutlery personally I would have thought that was a no brainer and when she bought it across she bought 3 knifes and 3 forks for 8 people so I had to go find my own for the rest of us. no one did a quality check as the meals was poor at best and had they had done a check we would have told them they was not to a good standard. Wife’s sausages was rubbery and the garlic bread was burnt. We reluctantly ordered puddings as wife left her meal as was that ooor and kids wanted a pudding. Adult pudding £5.50 chocolate brownie kids all had chocolate brownie £1.50 yet twice the size of the adults portion. I will not be returning anytime soon as this was a bad experience and very over priced for the quality received.

We used to frequent this pub years ago and loved it. Now back in the area and disappointed is an understatement. Slow, unfriendly service completely overshadows what was once a fantastic place. Have now given it 3 chances but to no avail. Such a shame.

First visit to The White Post & we enjoyed everything about it. Great service, great value, lovely surroundings. We had a totally enjoyable experience.

Been here a few times & never had an issue with anything & find it hard to believe that people post anything negative about it, just go folks & make up your own mind.

Being coeliac and so gluten free was happy to see gluten free menu. What a pity the people in the kitchen don't understand allergies. My meal came out contaminated with an item that is not on the free from menu. Was offered fresh meal but trust was gone and the bar manager didn't seem that bothered when he said accidents happen. It's also how to make people ill or dead

This was the first time we have visited after being recommended by a friend & we weren’t disappointed. The place was lovely, staff were great & the food was really good. We can’t wait to come again & we would highly recommend.

Came for Fathers Day & had the Daddy burger WOW what a plate full. Wish this was on all year round. Everyone else had the carvery & as per usual was great.

We had the Wednesday night Curry special, which was excellent and the staff were very good and attentive. However, the special was advertised at £11.75 for the normal special and £12.75 for the upgraded special. We ordered a round of drinks before hand and paid for these but then we were given a bill for £56.99 for the 2 special and 2 upgraded specials—these should have cost £49.00. I pointed this out to the bar staff member and he then worked it out on the calculator on his phone and agreed with me. He said he couldn’t understand why the cost should be so much higher but said that he could only charge me £56.99, even though he agreed that this was £7.99 too much. I agreed to pay the higher price on the basis that I would try to recover the difference by writing to Marston’s—I also explained that he was doing the best job that he could but was put in a bad position by the company ——absolutely shambolic!

Had a great carvery here again, the meat is really really good and tasty veg too, I came on my own this time due to daughter being with her mum. But the staff are all very friendly and I did not struggle for conversation. Great value for money and great banter thrown in.

Waiting 1 hour 10 mins after ordering for staff to come out and say there only just starting to cook our food the Food was cold asked for a refund was confronted by 8-10 staff members who was very rude and vocal whilst little children were present the manager has no customer service skills and is arrogant would avoid at all cost

Currently in the area with the wife for work & we came by this pub, never visited so we thought we would try it out. We was welcomed by a really polite young lad who’s service was top notch, we laughed & joked about prices of drinks, & how our week has been, mannerism of the lad was something you don’t see much of these days. drinks were great quality & food matched just as well. Would recommend for anybody in the area or visiting.

Can’t keep away from here, went for the steak night & it was fantastic, great food, great service & great value, highly recommended.

Steak should be in the bin chips covered in black stuff staff that young that they did not know what to say. Never again gone down hill over priced would never recommend

Took the kids for dinner here today, The food was spot on, as was the service! Have to say a special thanks to craig for going above and beyond to make us feel comfortable, he was fab with the kids. Play area for kids was perfect. Really was a stress free meal and environment even with 6 kids in tow who are all on the autistic spectrum. This pub is perfect for families with children with additional needs. Most stress free meal ive ever had! Also food is amazing here! Will be returning very soon!

Firstly very friendly staff! Abigail behind the bar is a credit to the Pub, Arron the chef also very friendly and welcoming. Food was good for two vegetarians and a vegan. Nice and calm atmosphere Definitely be back ❤️

Last minute Sunday lunch there was 9 of us and all food was spot on, Aaron who was serving the carvery was brilliant even went to say hiya to a toddler with us in the highchair and when run out of yorkshires sent a huge one to table and even served it with gravy… well done above and beyond customer service

Been today for Sunday lunch.. both carvery and main meals were enjoyable, everyone was friendly, especially chef Aaron, very attentative and went above and beyond.

Ordered chicken with bbq sauce, chips and salad. The chicken was extremely dry and swamped in bbq sauce. I left most of it. One of the staff asked me if everything was ok so I told her how dry the chicken was and her reply was that it wasn’t their fault as the chicken arrived already cooked and the kitchen merely warmed it up. Ridiculous excuse. Will not use again.

Excellent as usual, if you haven’t tried this carvery, you need to. It really isn’t the usually rubbish you get. If you like meat, you’ll love it there, it’s cooked really well, by that I mean tender. Aaron and the staff are great. We drive from Sutton -in- Ashfield to get there… it’s worth the drive.

The staff are always very welcoming and helpful. The barman Dylan is always very kind and helpful. Mason is a lovely young man who always brings our food with a warm smile. We always visit on a Wednesday for the weekly curry deal and it never disappoints.

We have had a fabulous meal - all cooked to perfection by Aaron. Very friendly staff. Reasonably priced and clean throughout.

We called for a meal and was treated with excellent curtesy. Ashleigh was our waitress who served us and Craig served us from behind the bar and they were very pleasant. They are both a credit to The White Post who I am sure are very proud to employ such exemplary staff. We will definitely be calling again.

We practically turned up at the last minute, due to unforeseen problems, and they were fantastic; very friendly and very accommodating. The meals were very reasonably priced and the food was excellent. (The Steak and Ale pie was in puff pastry, and I’m a shortcrust lover, but it was done in such a way by Aaron the chef, it was just as good. His chips were excellent also). The service was good from Ashley and the barman (whose name I sadly can’t remember), even let me try some ‘Neck Oil’ beer as we had been discussing strengths of different types. Would recommend to anybody. 10/10

Went for tea at the white post tonight. Very impressed, the food was delightful! I had the hunters chicken and my partner had an ultimate chicken burger. Service was fantastic, a young lad was serving us, he was very polite and couldn’t do enough for us. Definitely returning.

Went in for a quick evening dinner, the starter of chicken wings tossed in bbq sauce were 5 little chicken wings, undercooked and slimy with a side pot of bbq sauce. The gammon was ok, a little undercooked but came with a runny egg I asked for. Next was a very overcooked medium steak that should have come with “salads are served on a bed of mixed leaves with slices of cucumber, tomato, red onion, red pepper, quinoa, kale, brown rice and soya beans. Tossed in a French dressing and topped with crispy onions. It DID NOT come like this, we were given brown salad leaves with a bit of cucumber and tomatoe with no dressing. It was inedible . I would not recommend eating at this venue it’s overpriced and the food is basic.

Disgusted with the staff, they were rude and very confrontational. The police had to be called as a member of staff put their hand in a minors face, and abruptly asked them why they were laughing. Absolutely disgusting, would not recommend this establishment to anyone, especially with a family.

The White Post inn has really improved over the past few months it's a 100 times cleaner the food is substantially better the staff are so lovely very polite and helpful what a lovely dinning experience
