The best restaurants serving British food in England

Always friendly, chips are great! One of the few places round here that doesn't follow the backward practice of frying in beef dripping - as a vegetarian, this is very much appreciated!!

We had a enjoyable meal tonight here . No fish so couldn't have fish and chips and no blue moon . Annoying , especially not having a beer stocked in a deal . Otherwise can't complain and the menu is pretty varied with good options . The food was nice and worth the money spent.

Been coming here for over a year and loved this place including breakfast and last year's Xmas meal/menu especially I don't know what's happened to the place since. I rang up last month about an Xmas/December menu and I was told they would be doing it but this never happened. We ended up booking for the Sunday menu which looked like the nearest thing. We arrived today and mentioned we booked and the staff couldn't find the booking sheet and sat us at the table "for people who haven't booked" this was an amusingly small table and was way too small for 4 people so we moved The food was nowhere near as good as it was last year. We were told there was a new chef. Everything had little flavour and the beef was as tough as old boots. We weren't given new cutlery after our starters and were left with dinner with nothing to eat it with. There was also a 10% service charge which is there by default. This is naughty and we refused to pay it I think if we'd gone to Wetherspoons we'd have enjoyed it more and that's saying something. I can't see us returning

We had a lovely evening; we booked our table rather late in the week and the restaurant was very busy, so we were not surprised when there was a bit of a wait for our food. However, the beer was good, the staff were really nice and when the food arrived it was great. It's so nice to see some interesting dishes on the menu, rather than the ubiquitous offerings of most pubs. Gold stars to the hard-working waitress who, despite having to negotiate lots of stairs with the food orders, remained cheerful all evening. Will definitely eat there again.

Lovely cafe/bar area. Theatre extremely small, felt very claustrophobic, disliked the show we booked

Visited here with my wife. Could only have a black coffee as I was on my way to hospital. Coffee was excellent and great value. (I have no doubt the food will be good too). The guy who runs it is really friendly. Will definitely come again when I can eat something!

2nd time we've used this chip shop and once again very disappointed, nearly £20 for chips and 2 fish, it's the 2nd time both fish were both bone dry and just hard crisp at both ends , absolutely wast of money and won't be back again.

Closed. 😭 A cosy cafe with friendly and attentive staff. Indoor and outdoor seating in a quiet courtyard conveniently located just off the high street. Nice breakfast and lunch menus available; and of course a good selection of cakes and deserts. Well behaved dogs are allowed inside and outside; water and complimentary treats offered. Parking just a couple of minutes walk away; toilet / baby-changing facilities on-site (ask staff for key). Card payments accepted. Highly recommended.

Call in with friends without a reservation. Warm welcome & was given a table although they had several bookings. Good variety of real ales, the service was good & our food was soon to table. Food was good, hot & well presented. Very pleasant atmosphere. Would recommend.

Leaving local coming twice a year service is toooooo slow need sort it not coming again saaaad

One of best pie and mash shop around

I was working in the area on 29th December 2024 and randomly came across this pub, so I decided to call in for a pint at 5pm. What a brilliant choice this was. The staff and customers were lovely lovely people who welcomed me with open arms. I can't speak highly enough about this pub. Great pint, great food, amazing friendly atmosphere 👍 An easy 10 out of 10 from me 👍 Next time I'm working in the London area I will definitely return.
