This restaurant and pub serves fabulous food, reasonably priced, with great service. An extensive menu and good selection of wines, very well presented, good portions, all combine to make this a must visit. Highly recommend.

We would just like to show our appreciation to Craig, Annie and the team for our lovely evening. We felt spoilt. It was clearly a busy evening but the service and quality of the meals was excellent. I had the rack of ribs with the homemade “monkey glad” sauce. Honestly, so good, it felt naughty, they were that good. Everyone commented on how good their meals were and the a great selection of beers, ales, cider and lagers on tap. The Guinness was top notch. Happy to recommend but advise booking in advance

Having eaten twice over the last couple of months, and been delighted with our meals. Tonight was a great disappointment has the chef changed? The standard was not the same.

Still top of the list! New ownership has brought some new and interesting twists with the favourites still there and always delicious. We only come to Devon a handful of times a year but The Fox and Goose is a must visit each time. We were unsure after a change of hands if it would be up to the usual standards but it absolutely surpassed expectations. Quality was amazing and the staff lovely as always. Price is also very reasonable, would pay far more for the same meal near home. Without the excellent atmosphere.

We visited the Fox and Goose in Parracombe for a two night stay and were absolutely delighted. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable and came with all the little luxuries you hope for - a well-stocked tea tray, quality bathroom toiletries and home-made biscuits. The bar had a wide choice of local food, very reasonably priced and everything that we had was really delicious. Breakfasts were excellent cooked to your liking and set you up for the day. Craig and Aiden are superb hosts and everyone was friendly and service was exemplary. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already recommended the Fox and Goose to all our friends as a "must visit" experience. It was a 5 star rating across the board and we are already planning a repeat visit in the Spring

We visited tonight for the first time since the new owners took over. We own holiday cottages locally and send a number of our guests to the pub for meals, so wanted to check on the current standards (as well as treating ourselves 😉). We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was friendly, the service was excellent and the food was exceptional. Without hesitation we will continue to recommend the Fox and Goose and will be back again ourselves soon!

I researched the best places to eat near to where we are staying and the fox and goose came up with amazing reviews and only a 7 minute drive from our lodge in kentisbury. The meal did not disappoint, I had the venison stroganoff and my husband had cod pasta alfredo - both absolutely beautiful dishes. My son had a burger and my daughter had tomato pasta. The restaurant was very busy and there was a bit of a delay with the meals but we didn’t mind and we never felt ignored or forgotten. Lovely friendly attentive staff, we’ll definitely be back to this place

Went in for dinner last Sunday evening. Big problem trying to decide what to eat as all items on the menu were very tempting! Three of us had the fish and chips and one had the cod with linquine. The food was excellent and we will definitely be back.

We stayed 2 nights and found Craig and Aiden to be excellent hosts having only taken over the business 8 weeks earlier. The food was excellent and they managed to create a warm environment; indeed on the Tuesday evening when the pub does not open they still cooked for the two couples who were staying and offered us the option of eating with them, which resulted in a sociable candlelit evening of good company and shared stories. We would certainly return.

Just had the most wonderful stay at The Fox & Goose. We booked a two night stay, the room was lovely, it had everything we needed, the bed was very comfortable and everywhere was very clean. Breakfast was delicious and the evening meals were superb, very high quality. The hosts were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble, you could choose your own times to eat, very accommodating. We would highly recommend a stay and/or eating in their restaurant, we've already booked our next visit!

The ambiance was friendly and fitting a village pub. Staff were helpful and obliging (making a special pudding combination on request) and both the main dishes we tried were extremely tasty and more than adequate in size. If ever we are within visiting distance again we will definitely return.

We booked through booking site which sometimes overages the hotels but this time it was spot on. There are steps to be negotiated although a ready hand with our case was given but if this is an issue just settle to eat and stay elsewhere but if you do you will miss a treat. The ROMs are modern well furnished with state of the art bathrooms. A nod to keeping it original the sash window is renovated but single glazed you will hear the fun outside but come closing time it was silence. The food is really good, you do have to order at the bar and the menu is chalked up on boards but then you won't ever be waiting and a request for wine comes with an instant bottle and glasses over the bar, if this isn't your thing well you are missing the point, it's a public and spotless but restored to look like a local from days past as is the exterior which matches this tiny village would you really want gastro pub garish grey. Like everything good or really good it reveals its secrets one by one, try the home made cakes in place of biscuits or flask of real milk. Glad to have discovered and to share

Had pizza to take out. Fairly long wait and pizza was horrendous. Toppings at £1 each was a joke - I could barely see them at all. Cheese was processed and slid off the base which was soggy and wet.

We stayed at the Fox and Goose for our wedding anniversary. Our room was clean and very well equipped, the bathroom was newly refurbished and very modern. We couldn't fault a thing - from the excellent fresh coffee to make in a cafetiere to the quality of the tea bags, fresh milk in a flask, home made flapjacks and shortbread, to the decor, the furnishings and the wonderful bathroom with double shower. We ate here also, and the food was no disappointment. The portions were generous, the meals well presented and very tasty. The fish stew is amazing! Breakfast was fresh, well prepared, good range of cereals, fruit, yoghourt, toast and cooked breakfast also. Loads of fresh coffee and tea. Nothing was too much trouble to the owners or staff and we were made very welcome. We highly recommend the Fox and Goose.

A wonderful little country pub where all the staff were extremely friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. We stayed for four nights to enable some walking in the wonderful Exmoor countryside. Our recently refurbished room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with plenty of storage available, and an en-suite shower bathroom. Tea and cafetiere coffee were provided with fresh milk in a vacuum flask, and each day of the stay we were also delighted to be left a tin of freshly home made shortbread and flapjack which was delicious.Breakfast was excellent. Cereal, granola, fresh fruit (including rhubarb) yogurt, toast with butter and jam, and a choice of full cooked as well if you so wished. We chose to eat in the pub each evening where a varied menu offered choices of Fish, Steak, Venison, Lamb or vegetarian dishes, and were of a very generous quantity, (we never managed 3 courses). All food was locally sourced where possible, and I can highly recommend the ice-cream. My other half worked his way across all four of the hand pumped beers on offer during our stay and I tried the local cider all of which were excellent. There is parking available opposite the pub, and there is also a small outside area at the rear where the river runs alongside.

Sorry we didn't get to sample the wonderful food and atmosphere. We walked in on spec at 2pm on a windy Sunday. There was an empty table for two in plain sight of the bar but we were told by a man behind the bar that they were full (clearly very busy but not full). We asked if they were still serving food and were told that there was 'probably' no food left in the kitchen! "Probably?!" He didn't even bother finding out. We left empty-bellied and went up the road to the Hunters Inn. Shame nobody told them a warm welcome doesn't cost anything.

Read a few lines in Sawday's and reviews on here so knew we were likely to get good food; only 15 mins from Arlington NT where we spent the afternoon with the children. Lovely setting, nice warm welcome and within 10 minutes of arriving there our 2 girls were playing with Nikki and Paul's little girl, leaving us free to indulge in olives and half a Tawny. Our girls had a very tasty pizza, we had fish stew which was both filling and exceptionally tasty. Nice glass of wine each and a friendly goodbye from Nikki the owner and the lovely Nicola on the bar. Top pub!

Went to Exmoor last weekend and stayed at Peacock Cottage, part of Coulscott House in Combe Martin. The owner, Sue Jay recommended the Fox & Goose as a good bet for some nice pub food. We rang up to book and was advised by a cheery lady that we did not need to book at this time of year and to just turn up for a table. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and told to choose whichever spare table we could find. My friend and I chose to share a starter of sherry mushrooms, mushrooms sautéed in butter with garlic, sherry, wholegrain mustard & cream, served on bruschetta. Very rich but absolutely scrumptious and plentiful. For the main, I chose the steak Guinness & mushroom pie, with a homemade shortcrust pastry, served with vegetables & sauté potatoes. The pastry was wonderful very light and buttery. It melted in my mouth. The steak and guiness filling was very nice but as historic as the pastry but still delicious. Christine chose the mushroom stroganoff as she feeling in a mood for mushrooms that night. She said her dish was delicious as well and full of flavour. In summary, the food was spot on and the pub itself was very friendly with a nice atmosphere. I would happily recommend it to anyone who is staying in the Combe Martin / Exmoor area.

Partner and I had two meals at this restaurant whilst on holiday in July. Didn't expect much seen externally and the interior whilst comfortable is not smart. Forget all this and concentrate on the food which is wonderful. Virtually all the food is locally sourced and the owners cook to magnificence. Good English meat and fish with seasonable vegetables all excellantly cooked and with wonderful touches to make these meals unforgettable. Puddings that were sensational and a great selection of local chesses. Certainly a place to search out.

Stumbled across the cafe when we arrived in Ilfracombe and needed coffee. Quaint and characterful and clearly has it's regular customers. Coffee was good and hot but the homemade Eccles cake was amazing! The other treats looked good too. Coming across The Naked Cake cafe was the best thing about Ilfracombe which was otherwise, tatty and very down at heel.
