The New Inn Fremington in North Devon

We had Sunday lunch today 3 March amazing loads on plate and taste great. Nut roast was really good. Will return.

I'm so glad we found this lovely gem. Had Sunday lunch, and it was so nice to actually have hot, freshly prepared food. Huge sizes, no room for dessert. 3 different plate sizes offered, I had medium, which really was a large plate of food. Very reasonably priced, the lady owner was so lovely and attentive, she made us feel very welcome. We will be going back to sample more home cooked delights.

We turned up weds (5 mins b4 3pm) they finish Specials at 3pm!!! Treated like royalty. My 91yr old mummy+me xx... she'd been to hospital at Barnstaple - we stopped @ Fremington because it's where mummy's baby brother used to live ❤. What a welcome xx. Whilst I parked the car - mumsy was on the front bench. TWO regulars (well oiled GENTLEMEN ) walked my mummy to the bar. GARLIC MUSHROOMS - gorgeous - as were ALL THE STAFF. FANKOO ❤💋❤

We held our Mother's wake there, and it was fantastic, lovely food and great service, the Landlady was constantly asking if everything waa OK, would definitely recommend.

Nice clean hot food. Friendly service. Popped in at lunchtime on the off chance Was met by a friendly lady serving. It was very quiet but I'm sure in the eveni gs it's busier and livelier

Wonderful food all with local produce and the slow cooked belly pork is truly fantastic 😋. Took my dad here as he loves his real ales and found they've won awards for their ales (one very happy dad). Have been back 4 times now with various family and have always had a great experience and a very warm welcome. Landlady Faith is a fantastic host, nothing is too much trouble, including fussy eaters! We've making use of their pool table, dart board and table football in separate bar area turning a meal out into a whole evening out with the family playing games together.

Went to the New Inn last for night for roast dinner, absolutely outstanding! Very good quality, generous portions and at good price, excellent service and good atmosphere, friendly locals and finished off with delicious home made cheesecake, would return anytime.

Had a few beers and a roast dinner at the New Inn last night and I couldn’t fault the place. Very friendly landlady, good selection of drinks, nice atmosphere and the food was absolutely excellent with generous portion sizes. I’ll definitely be visiting again next time I’m in the area.

We've been to The New Inn twice recently. On both occasions we were given a warm welcome by the staff, seated at a table, and treated brilliantly. The food is great, we really enjoyed it both times. Thanks 👍

Just had our Diamond Wedding party here, The food was excellent & the service was fine seeing only one chef in the kitchen, he neads a medal. Great all around.

The landlady, Faith is very welcoming and certainly makes everyone feel at home. Matthew, the chef is very talented on producing very wholesome and nourishing food which provides great food reasonably priced and very generous portions.

Very friendly and welcoming with plenty of ales and ciders to choose from. Food was lovely and piping hot which was in keeping with good home made fare. Unfortunately we were too late to get the Steak and Ale Pie, as the last portion went to the couple on the next table. Our landlady was apologetic and very attentive, highlighting the fact that everything is fresh and not frozen. So a word if advice is to get there early. When it's gone, it's gone. if only we had been here at the weekend! The roasts look delicious but are Saturday and Sunday only, so we will have to stop by the next time we are over this way Rick & Tracy

Above and beyond can't tell you why as all of you will want it 🤣 but they did, the landlady and Chef were brilliant if I could give 10 Stars I would, Sunday roast was fabulous, sorry no pics as looked so good we got stuck in, prices are very reasonable compared to other pub's and restaurants around this area.

Great Sunday roast beef. Ordered a medium and glad I didn't order a large, plenty on the plate and hot, great Yorkshire and came with jug of gravy. Very reasonably priced and not a rip off

3 ales from GT Ales on offer which was great.

Just left the new inn after a 4 meal Sunday roast. What a roast fantastic meal and flavours. Piping hot, great service. Would definitely recommend.

Precious little gem in North Devon - They’re a family run pub & the staff are more than welcoming. Extremely friendly and always service with a smile, not to mention the food is top notch grub! Popped in for a roast dinner and we were certainly not disappointed. A lovely, tasty slow roast belly pork with all the trimmings at an excellent price went down very well. The local beer was very good and the staff so friendly. A good honest pub with great food and service.

Found this lovely pub by chance today. Had a lovely meal, well cooked and generous portions. The landlady is a right character, made our meal more enjoyable. A proper pub with a proper landlady!

Great food, good choice of drinks. Very smart decor, live music most weekends. Nice little patio with a covered smoking area if required. Landlady is one in a million (great sense of humour) love it here.

Delicious food, great drinks and friendly service make this a great pub to stop in for a drink and a bite to eat. We stopped in by chance and were glad we did. Extremely dog friendly too.

Clean and friendly but bit of an old man's pub.

Food hot and tasty , Staff lovely. Spaghetti bol, side of chips, Hunters chicken, side of garlic cheese bread.

We've only been here a few times as it's easy to pass and not think about stopping in. Especially when you've got The Fox, Han Court, The Plough Inn, The Cedars etc nearby and you're thinking of food mainly. However, this is one place you really want to stop off at! It's a nice cozy pub with friendly staff and a nice relaxed atmosphere BUT the food is where you're in for a surprise, it's absolutely delicious and really well priced. I had Hunters chicken the other day and couldn't finish it, there was so much on the plate it more than filled me up. Before that I did have Salt and Pepper Squid, which was equally delicious! Will definitely be going again soon!

Myself and my young son and partner were told about this little pub and someone suggest it for food and I am so glad we listened! The landlady of this establishment is amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and she is such a genuine kind hearted soul who I felt instantly at ease with!! The food is all homemade and just delicious!! The chef here is an absolute credit to the industry! Amazing food!! We went in on a Wednesday and they had karaoke on in the evening!! Everyone was so welcoming and the atmosphere was incredible!! My son had the best time singing his first karaoke!! I cannot recommend this pub more if I tried. I cannot wait to go back and see what other fun things happens in there. I never write reviews. EVER! And I have written two today for The New Inn as I think something as amazing as this should be SHOUTED from the rooftops!! Hidden gem in North Devon. Amazing. I cannot fault a thing and wish I could give more stars!! 💚

Fantastic! Landlady's totally nuts and the hostess with the mostest 😂 food was excellent and to top it off live music with the legendary George Nix playing as Two for the road with Sarah. What more could you ask for?

Fantastic place! Took a chance based on the already great reviews and was not disappointed! Warm welcome from the landlady for us and our dog as we ventured inside. I LOVED the look of their GIANT optics (but be wary of the strength!) The smell of chips encouraged us to try the food and we weren't disappointed- locally sourced and freshly prepared by a fantastic chef who also took time to chat to us and had obvious pride in his work! The food is VERY well priced and the kitchen was very busy so plan ahead for meals (always a good thing) They have live music which we are hoping to catch this evening too! 10/10 would 100% visit again- Thanks!!

After walking from Barnstable we dropped into the New Inn, Framington. There was a very warm and friendly welcome. The service and food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We would certainly highly recommend this inn.

My parents and I stopped here on our holiday last month and so glad we did the staff are so friendly and helpful and the food was amazing all freshly brought and cooked by the owners son would highly recommend anyone to visit hope to visit again one day

Popped into the New Inn for lunch today and was greeted by a very friendly+accomodating member of staff. Drinks+food order taken quickly. Lovely fresh, tasty food delivered in decent time for being cooked fresh. Definitely going back to try more off the menu another day.

An absolute gem!! 12 blokes rocking up on a pub crawl is perhaps not every publican's dream, but we were on our best behaviour and were treated brilliantly by everyone in the building. 12 large roast dinners later, plus an undisclosed number of pints of Galaxy, we were all left thoroughly impressed by the quality of the home cooked food, local brews, and welcoming staff (and clientele). We could've spent hours here, but the call of the crawl had to be answered... 10/10 would recommend!

My wife and I ordered a Sunday roast last Sunday and it was excellent both in taste and quantity and value would well recommend trying it and we will be going back again !!

Ive just moved to the area and went to the nearest pub for food and drinks. The service was great. Freindly and professional staff who couldn't do enough for you. I would not hesitate to return.

Having previously eaten here, and having recieved perfectly adequate food we all decided to try the Sunday Lunches, unfortunately they were not the usual standard we had been used to, the vegetarian meals were especially poor with the promised nut roast actually being a strange and bland pearl barley mixture, the rest of the meal was luke warm and unappetising. Definitely wouldnt recommend it.

Roasts here are cooked to absolute perfection by a fantastically talented chef! Great price and portion sizes! Highly highly recommend The New Inn! We holidayed last week just up the road from the New Inn so booked for 6 to eat early on in our stay and found the landlord and land lady so welcoming and friendly and the food really good that we re booked for our last evening. We were not disappointed as the food was lovely, well presented and plentiful. I had gammon and rump steak (two nights) and both were excellent with massive home cooked crispy onion rings. The beer is also very good and the guest ale is local so give it a try. If we come back to Fremington again we will certainly be back. Shame it isn't my local.

Visiting family in the area and I heard that new owners had taken over the New Inn and wanted to see what it is like since the old owners left. What a transformation that greeted me with new paintwork and layout of dining areas. I went for just a standard cheese burger and chips and I have never had a better burger anywhere, including all the main chains like five guys etc Very impressed with the staff especially the landlord who is a very funny man and great host who makes you feel comfortable and nothing is any trouble when you ask him for anything. The pub has Covid signs and procedures in place and the landlord and staff politely remind you of this importance all the time.

Been to try out the new menu and it is so good! Decent choice for a pub menu. Friendly service. Always a pleasure to come in for a pint, food, music etc.

Very quirky building, quite a small menu due to broken kitchen equipment but overall a pleasant experience. Very friendly staff, good roast dinner, and very well priced for the quantity of food we had.

Nice Pub, has a nice atmosphere. We had a meeting in one of the rooms. We also had a meal. Basic foods, very tasty. All homes made, even the spaghetti. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are very friendly and helpful. An interesting old building.

For the past thre Sundays we've had lunch at the New Inn & in our opinion it can't be beaten. You have a choice of lamb, beef or turkey & you can have the option of a standard or large portion. To be honest the standard size is plenty but I do like my Sunday lunch & go for the larger meal. The meat is accompanied by plenty of veg, loads of roasters & a lovely Yorkshire pud. Absolutely delicious.This week as a treat my wife decided to have steak & chips off the menu. She said that it was the best steak meal that she had ever had.The New Inn is a lovely traditional pub & the staff can't do enough to serve you.The only downside is that it's not situated in Braunton, closer to home.

We only booked this place because we were desperate, it was the last day of the government "Eat out to help,out scheme ", and everywhere else was fully booked. So as we entered the pub, there were signs alerting us to observation of Covid precautions. However there was scant evidence that they were observing them! There was a line of men drinking at the bar; no social distancing! We were directed to a table fairly quickly (we had booked ), and supplied with a bottle of wine which we had ordered. After half an hour we asked to see a menu, which was passed to us from couple next door! So definitely not wiped in between ( except by me!) Another long wait before our order was taken which gave us plenty of time to observe what was going on. As people left, the waitress (publican's wife, i think) wiped one table over with used napkin, and then gave it a quick flick with the teatowel she was carrying! Later the publican himself came out and gave the tables a good wipe down with a J cloth, but what was on it I don't know, he didn't use a spray. My spaghetti Bolognese was edible, but could have done with more cheese. Hubby's rump steak was not the best, and chips and onion rings very greasy. We were not asked for any contact details, so if any of their customers get coronavirus ( which wouldn't surprise me!), they will have no idea how to contact us!! Would not recommend this place at all.
