Popped in for a coffee while waiting for my bike to be mot at local garage. Clean and tidy, good looking cakes in the display. Great coffee, cake portion was huge, probably too big in reality. Lovely staff, girl with ink was funny, chatty and I would definitely pop back in next time I'm in the area,

Having heard this was a great place for cakes we stopped off on our way through South Molton. We had a cheese scone and a fruit scone and these were the best scones I’ve ever eaten by a country mile. Excellent coffee too! Cakes were delicious (we took some away) and the service was good and premises very clean.

Used to be the best for breakfast, but the move to the new premises and a 'coffee shop' feel rather than a tea room has made it lose its crown. Staff and food are still great but it's lost its charm sadly. Cakes are still amazing

Six of us needed to eat as we were all hungry decided to go to the corn dolly ,went in at 1.45 pm.to be told we could only have drinks as the ovens had been turned off and were closing at 2.30pm. when l asked was it early closing as it was a Wednesday, the dark haired girl became very aggressive and shouted if she wanted to close she would.this is the same girl who was outside on her phone for ages last time we went here ,and had to be fetched in by another member of staff to serve the customers who were waiting.we don't know what the hell has happened to the wonderful corn dolly that was at the previous place ,with the lovely staff and good food and a menu you could read at your table.we won't be back ,and there probably won't be a corn dolly for long with those staff and their bad attitude..

Terrible coffee! After waiting five minutes at the unmanned counter a regular popped her head out the door to inform the server there was a queue. Apparently the fag break or phone call was more important. Asked for a flat white with oat milk; received, in a cappuccino cup, burnt coffee, burnet milk and no idea how to stretch milk. One sip and and left to find something to take the taste away! Having checked a couple of locations only to see they have push button machines I thought great why spying the espresso machine. Staff training urgently needed and bit of an attitude adjustment too!

My first visit to the Corn Dolly in South Street. I have eaten at the old Corn Dolly on many occasions and always had great food with wonderful service and old fashion values. The Corn Dolly in South Street is a cafe serving cafe standard food. I had a Farmhouse Tea. The food was served with smallest limp wristed quality eggs. I will not be returning anytime soon. You have no association in any way with the old Corn Dolly. Take a lesson and learn.

As a regular customer before it moved we were greatly disappointed. Tables too small, food cold, miserable staff. Three staff on, two of them spent most of the time in the kitchen and only came out to get a cup of coffee and the third one spent most of her time outside on the phone. They ignored my partner who was waiting to get served and several of them walked past napkins that had fallen off the table. None of the old staff who were friendly and knew how to be customer facing. None of the famous cakes and when someone asked the reply as they’re being made now. It was nearly 11am. They’ll lose a lot of business with the way it’s being run now and the once brilliant reputation corn dolly had will be lost. Such a shame

This was our first visit to the “new “ Corn Dolly, we made the mistake of thinking it would be similar to the previous Corn Dolly in South Molton which was absolutely brilliant. Sadly the only similarity is the name !! Gone is the comprehensive menu ( on each table ) now replaced by a few item on a board over the counter where orders for food must now be taken. Gone are the enthusiastic staff, constantly taking orders plus clearing and cleaning tables. We were told on arrival that we could sit anywhere but unfortunately there were cake crumbs over the majority of free tables. We asked for a table to cleaned and this done but that member of staff walked by other dirty tables and did not attempt to clean them. Staff were constantly walking past tables that had dirty crockery on but did not pick it up !!! We chose jacket potatoes which to be fair were very good, but no one came to ask if it was okay and no one said thank you or goodbye when we left. All in all worth a visit but if you were a previous customer you will be sadly disappointed.

Not in any sense what it was. Very sad. Uncomfortable, plain, lacking atmosphere and quality. It is not the "corn Dolly" we all knew and loved. It used to be such a pleasure and always a treat but the new premises could not be more different. The food bears little resemblance to the old place too.

On our way through Devon we found this lovely cafe in South Molton. My cappuccino was excellent as it had a lovely frothy head of milk on it and was piping hot. Something you don't always get in some coffee shops. We were also allowed to take our dog in with us, an added bonus.

This was our first visit to the new premises having loved the quaint tearoom it used to be. Firstly, and probably most importantly, the food is still delicious! Portions are still generous and though we consequently had no room for cake they looked amazing! But…it really lacks any atmosphere or warmth. The bones are there but it’s like they opened up before any finishing touches and for customers expecting the previous ambience it’s so disappointing. Banjo ( if you know, you know) could transform it in a day! It needs some character features, plants, artwork maybe by local artists and some colour and comforts! Also, it needs menus! You have to go and stand in front of the till in everyone’s way and peer and decide all at the same time or stand awkwardly taking a screenshot to take back to the table to show your companions. Laminated menus would be better than nothing but it really would be so much nicer to have table service again-after all, this is supposed to be a treat! More than ever these days!

Apart from some of the cakes and one member of staff, the 'new' Corn Dolly is nothing like the old tea shop. Most of the staff were loud, rude and clearly more interested in their own private - and highly inappropriate - conversation, than their customers. Where to start with this gem of a place? My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at the Commodore Hotel, and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service. James and his team just can’t do enough for you. When we arrived in Instow our car key broke and he didn’t hesitate to assist us with fixing it - James went above and beyond, and we will be forever grateful!! The room was immaculate, elegantly decorated, and offered a breathtaking view of the beach, sea and beyond. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The on-site restaurant was a culinary delight, offering a wide range of delicious dishes, all perfectly prepared. The staff were attentive and made sure my stay was enjoyable. The location was ideal just set back from the promenade and the hotel has its own private parking which is a game changer for people looking to visit Instow. Overall, the Commodore Hotel provided an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for luxury, comfort, and outstanding service. I will definitely be returning, thank you once again to James, Omer and the wonderful team at The Commodore Hotel.
