The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving British food

We stayed here for one night after attending the theatre. We booked a meal for 5pm on a Tuesday. We sat outside and had a very pleasant experience. There was a good atmosphere sitting in the sun. We both chose a pizza and have to say it was possibly the best pizzas both of us have ever had, and we've enjoyed pizzas in Italy. The merlot was also excellent. We stayed over in room 3 and it was a lovely spacious room with everything you may need. Breakfast was great too. We felt well attended and well looked after. I would totally recommend a stay over. Just a 15 minute wander down the promenade to venue cymru.

Love the milkshakes and a great variety of ice cream

A real gem of a place! Staff were excellent! Really friendly, very attentive. Food was lovely, really nice mix on the menu of traditional and modern food. Top tip: Leave room for dessert! Really great atmosphere too.

Very enjoyable evening. Exceptional cuisine. Delightful atmosphere. Impeccable service. The scallops (photo below) were the best we’ve ever had. The added Kale and bacon just worked! Entire team treated us like we’re family. 10 stars!!

¡Qué noche! Fui a Bistro Live el 25. 04 . 25 por mi primera noche desde que tuve mi primer bebé y el personal se aseguró de que era una noche para recordar! El chef me hizo un plato personalizado que decía ‘nueva mamá’, que era un toque tan dulce. También recibí un saludo y el DJ fue increíble en jugar mis recomendaciones y asegurarse de que tuve una gran noche! La comida era absolutamente delicioso y en general una gran relación calidad-precio para una noche increíble. Yo y las chicas ya estamos pensando en reservar de nuevo lo antes posible! ¡Gracias Bistro! Además, gracias a nuestro servidor Ice por cuidarnos tan bien!

Fabulous find. Exceptional food and service from all the girls on a busy Saturday night. Staying for a short break in a nearby Air BnB and went twice. Cannot fault it. Fabulous.

The waitress rude no help at all just walked away the wemon that runs it awful just throw my food on table and walked away the only good thing was the bar man very welcoming and helpful will never go back

The food is excellent and there is a good selection of rather good wines ranging in price from 'sensible' to 'eye-watering' :-) We started with a bottle of the house sparkling wine (Penstock) which was all it claimed to be - light and refreshing - served in the comfortable lounge area. The dining room was a little noisy - perhaps because of the high ceiling and hard floors, but it was crowded so perhaps that's understandable. I started with the red mullet - beautifully cooked and nicely de-boned. My main of sea-bream from the grill was quite superb - and I can recommend the crispy potatoes. Dessert was a chocolate mousse - smooth and full of flavour. And this is what one might expect from a restaurant operating at this level - excellent ingredients, cooked well. What made this celebration meal special, though, was the service. I have eaten at lots of restaurants and I have never had better service. I regret I can't remember the name of the guy who served us, but both he and his colleague (she was from Hungary and was a big fan of Tokaj) were professional, friendly and contributed a lot to our enjoyment of an excellent meal - thanks to both of you!

We stopped here half way on a long drive to break it up. Very good food and the staff were lovely. Our little boy was wearing a superhero T-shirt and shortly after we got our drinks, along came some colouring in the form of a printed copy of the same superhero. This was lovely attention to detail and the same care was shown when taking his food order and the negotiations over how many scoops of ice-cream he wanted (our kid wanted one, he was asked if he was sure that he didn’t want two, and they settled on one and a half with some sprinkles and sauce!)

First time there. Great value for money. Staff very friendly and efficient. Price for two people.

We were welcomed with incredibly friendly service to this delightful pub. The menu was extremely enticing, making it very difficult to choose! We decided to start with the scallops and the creamy mushrooms, which were both utterly superb. We both chose to follow with the haunch of venison. Perfectly cooked with delicious gravy and the most sumptuous mash. Sadly we were too full for dessert, but our next trip we will aim to take up that challenge! Definitely will return. Fantastic.

Staying in strathtay so this restaurant is only a 5/10 walk or 2 minutes by car The menu was great with so much choice and the service was excellent Food lovely we had haddock chips tartar sauce with crushed peas an side salad , delicious We also ordered fish of the day mackerel in a chimmichuri sauce which came with potatoes and a garlic and a side salad

Lovely experience of an older time

On our way home from st ives and stopped here for breakfast on the way back. This is by far the best breakfast we’ve had all week and then staff/customers are very friendly! Thank you
