The best restaurants in United Kingdom serving British food

Wondering round Shrewsbury and found this wonderful place. Sat outside in their small but sunny courtyard. Great menu and had the sharing platter with a glass of lush French white and local beer! Service excellent and great value for money. Recommend

We pre booked the Christmas menu meal for a family dinner meet up of 6 adults and 2 little ones And wasn’t disappointed the service was spot on and the food was delicious highly recommend and amazing Christmasy setting with all the decorations up many thanks Andrew Burt and family

One of the greatest dining experiences we ever got to have! We went for a birthday celebration and were made to feel like kings and queens. Staff takes immense pride in their work and really took their time to bless us with great knowledge about dishes and ingredients, making the whole evening turn into an entertaining, but still down to earth, high class dining experience. Menu is being presented with multiple surprises throughout, some of them even interactive! The food was immaculate in every way, presentation and flavours. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a truly special dining experience!

We got a takeaway from here on Friday night with all the family, we had a mixture of cod, chicken and mushroom pie, chicken nuggets, sausage and chips and all of course a chip shop curry sauce! The service was good but it gets very busy very fast. After you have ordered you get a fob that buzzes once your food is ready. It is a very good idea as you can wait outside so it doesn’t get too crowded. The food was 10/10 and well priced. Highly recommend if you are wanting a chippy tea!🍟

Pre ordered 13 Christmas Pies for collection at 12 today. Was there on time to pick up and told not ready. Offered cold ones. Refused and were told they would drop some hot ones off at place of work in 20 mins. Turned up at 1.15. What is the point of pre ordering. If you can't supply the service please don't take the order.

Lovely Yorkshire family that run this cafe. Very friendly, helpful and accomodating staff. Reasonable prices too. We had tea & cakes as a snack one afternoon on our holiday. Very clean and tidy cafe. Noticed that get many locals popping in which creates a nice atmosphere.

Was our first time at the taster evening and we’re so glad we booked. The quality of food and standard of service was brilliant.

I have been to Frankies beach bar about a year ago. The service and food was very good. Travelled from Worthing on a beautiful day to enjoy a lunch. Was I wrong! We ordered toasted sandwiches. They were very greasy and inedible. I was told that because they had been busy a buildup of oil had built up on the grill. Greasy spoon,definitely!

Two of us are vegan and the selection of vegan offerings was impressive. Cauliflower bhaji pasty, vegan sausage roll and spicy Mexican bean roll were three savoury pastries that we tried and all 3 were outstanding. Really tasty fillings. They even had some vegan sweet treats that like brownies. Their coconut biscuits are also vegan and another favourite. Love this place!

We arrived on time and the restaurant was packed! When we give our order we was told they are slightly behind and there will be 30 mins waiting time, this isn’t a problem when your informed. We ordered full English breakfast, full Scottish breakfast, and egg on toast, and bacon sandwich. All was good no complaints from us short wait we was informed earlier. Staff worked hard and very pleasant. Dogs friendly with plenty of parking.

Ordered the ham ploughman's for myself and partner, food arrived quickly and good size portions. Everything was fresh and nicely presented and with a decent pot of tea too. Staff were very polite and friendly. There was plenty to choose from on the menu from cakes, sandwiches to light lunches. All reasonably priced too. Would highly recommend.

First and last time dining since the pandemic and change of ownership. Firstly dogs are now restricted from entering the dining area even though there is no partition between it and general seating so their excuse of allergies rang hollow. Secondly they have moved the kitchen from the middle of the pub and relocated it to the men's toilet, which seems to lack proper ventilation as the place smelt of burning fat and not quite the lovely smoky atmosphere a lot of reviews have claimed. Lastly the food was adequate at best, portions are small for their price and the roast beef i ordered turned up raw and a waiter seeing me push it around my plate offered "to have the chef fry it up a bit" Gave them an extra star for their roast potatoes, so many place get them wrong but were rather good here.

While wandering through Aberfoyle came across this little butchers. Glad we did, the Roll and sausage/ black pudding doubler was amazing, great value for £5 my son had the Steak roll also delicious. No hesitation in recommending this establishment. A wee day out, you have to pop in.

Love this cafe have been many times after dog walks always such a warm welcome and great food. Yesterday I ordered the halloumi and sweet chilli wrap and was moved to write this review it was the most delicious thing I have eaten for a long time!

What a fantastic Sunday lunch with lots of delicious veg and AMAZING cauliflower cheese. Managed to squeeze in homemade Baileys tiramisu too! Lovely friendly staff. Dog friendly. Thank you, Yew Tree Inn.
