My partner & I visited The New Inn on a quiet lunchtime shortly before Christmas. We decided to order from the Christmas menu. We were not disappointed. I started with prawn cocktail, the the roast beef main course & a lovely chocolate cheesecake. My partner had the soup starter followed by a cod dish & also the chocolate cheesecake. The food was excellent, fresh, tasty & well presented & quite filling. The bill with two lots of drinks came to just under £40. Very good value. It is some years since I last visited The New Inn (which has just been refurbished) but hopefully I will be dinning there again soon. Recommended for people who enjoy good British type cuisine.

The New Inn is a likeable if unspectacular pub in the city centre of Buxton, right next to the the Market Place bus stops. It is owned by the Robinsons brewery, famous for their old ale "Old Tom", which you should give a try if you like dark real ales. The pub is smaller than the outside seems to suggest, and there is a room to the back that is usually more quiet, especially when sports are on TV in the bar area, which was the case when I visited it in February of 2018. The beer selection is decent, including several hand-pumped real ales. There is also a small outside seating area, but it's right next to a fairly busy street.

I've just returned from lunch at the new inn and had a brilliant time. I went with a group of ladies from the local WI and nothing was too much trouble! the table was laid beautifully with small vases of yellow tulips and we were told that we could pick from the menu and mix and match as we wanted. Jugs of iced water were provided without being asked. I had the toasted goats cheese with crustinies, drizzled with honey and sesame seeds. Every mouthful was a delight. Followed by the warm chicken salad and new potatoes. Salad was fabulous including sun dried tomatoes and asparagus. The chicken was excellent quality and there were little crispy pieces of home cured bacon giving delicious bursts of saltiness.. Mark (the chef) cures his own bacon and makes his own sausage. Stock used in his gravies and soup are all created from his own broths (Hemsley and Hemsley style) I don't usually have dessert as so many restaurants tend to buy in frozen desserts and microwave them, or make them from a ready made mix. But knowing everything here is homemade from scratch I had the plum crumble and it was a little taste of heaven, crumble made with butter and fresh plums cooked to perfection sweet ,but not too sweet. We were also given small plates of mini crackers with a salmon mousse while we were waiting for our starters and then homemade chocolate truffles after dessert...delicious. The cost of my meal including a glass of Sauvignon blanc was £25... where in Manchester or Cheshire can you get such a high quality of food for such a reasonable price? I think it's Chapel's best restaurants and beats most restaurants in the surrounding area. Why, because it's all excellent quality, locally sourced, home cooked and prepared and tastes delicious!!!

But everyone, customers and staff alike made the experience so much more special. I will only give one negative and believe me it's not huge! It's obviously a beer/ale pub however there are those ( maybe not me!) who don't want to or are unable to have alcohol and their drinks were a bit lacking- just some ice/garnish/ taller glass- but it's not enough to put us off returning in the new year!!!

The Landlord/Chef came in to serve a couple who had stopped fro some food and took the time to describe the ingredients he used in the sausages he used. Mark prepared me a special vegetarian dish - he just loves to please his customers and provide whatever they might like if he has the fresh ingredients. He teaches at a local college and offers work experience to his students - a great mentor I'd say. Amazing sauces properly reduced, cures his own ham and bacon. prepares his own gravadlax. Encouraged by its top ranking locally, we ventured to book, having passed by the pub many times, but never venturing in. Previous warm and encouraging reviews are very faithful in what they record, based on our own experience. Mark and Amanda were assiduous and genial hosts from the kitchen and food was well cooked and served. You certainly get the impression that they love what they're providing and that should be infectious. Agree with those who think wine list is a bit limited, but perhaps they need their reputation to ramp up a bit more locally, before expanding it. It's great to see a pub getting into something a bit more upmarket than pub grub, but the licensed trade needs regular drinkers as well as diners. A dilemma for many in these difficult economic times.

The New Inn is a pub on the main Manchester Road through Chapel en-le-Frith. It specialises in Italian food. There is parking at the side and you can get a phone signal inside. We were a party of 15 and chose this venue for a Friday evening meal because it had a wonderful function room big enough for all of us to sit at just 3 tables. The staff was lovely; patient even with us messing them about. The prices were reasonable and the service accurate. On the downside, they were not used to parties the size of ours, and barely managed to cope. I understand that they also had a party of 6 in, and between us, they were overwhelmed. Afterwards we learned that the chef in the kitchen only had 3 hobs to work with, and in that context he did a magnificent job to get all the food out, but at the same time it understandably took him a long time to serve everyone, and the gap between the first plate served and the last, was far too long. The food was okay, but not exceptional. I would say that the steaks came out best.

I came here with 2 friends, we were greeted by the bar staff and chef. The chef was brilliant, knew his food and was able to advise us on what to eat including my fussy vegetarian girlfriend. Couldn't have found a better place!!

We visited The New Inn on Saturday the 27th of August. It was late lunch time and there were 7 of us ordering food at 2.30pm! All except myself and another ordered stake and all of them said including my children that this was the best stake they have had! I had a pasta dish and that was fab! We will definitely recommend your pub to anyone. We did not have to wait too long for the food either. Friendly service. Great prices and REALLY GOOD food. Hope you will have good business.

Excellent friendly service. The chef had time to discuss the menu with us. Locally sourced ingredients cooked to perfection. Not expensive for the quality. We shall certainly be back. Two minor criticisms: a short and rather limited wine list e.g. no Aussie Shiraz and no NZ whites andI personally find Robinson's beers a little dull and tastelessOther than that, they deserve to succeed.

Have eaten many times both lunchtime and evening and the food and service is consistently faultless. I have a large holiday let in Chinley and have recommended to guests - all have given excellent feedback !!Mark is an award winning chef, is passionate about his food, and produces inventive and delicious dishes on par with a 5* restaurant but at pub prices !! Chef comes to the table to explain the menu so you get exactly what you want. Presentation and quality is excellent, chef does all his own butchery, cures his own bacon, smokes his own salmon, makes his own sausage, and you can even buy produce at the bar to take home !! Seafood is a speciality and the gourmet evenings have an amazing set menu at unbelievable prices. The triple fried chips and gravy are out of this world !!!!! There is an extensive specials board, which changes regularly. The house wine is excellent and very reasonable.Mandy and Rob could not be better hosts, nothing is too trouble. I had a birthday dinner with 15 friends recently. Mandy dressed the room beautifully, Rob made great cocktails and the chefs produce some excellent dishes. All my guests were amazed and cannot wait to eat there again. In a world of fast food restaurants and standard pub food, the New Inn is a hidden gem and Chapel is very lucky to have such a hostelry.

We have just had a wonderful meal with great friendly service. Barnsley chops & Aberdeen Angus steak - cooked to perfection & no steak knives required. Huge diverse specials board with lots of choice. We all ate every single morsel. I'm a bit particular about veg - here it is prepped & cooked very well. Highest of recommendations. We'll be back!

We called in for a drink and a few snacks and were recommended the fish cakes by the barman. We were ushered into a small dining room but we would have preferred to stay and eat in the bar where there was slightly more atmosphere. The chef came out to greet us and we told him what we wanted and he suggested he made us a sharing fish platter. We thought that a good idea but assumed that it would include at least some of what we were going to order. The snacks we told him we wanted would have been about £15. After about 10 mins the platter arrived and had a selection of different fish appetisers. Unfortunately none of what we had suggested. It was nicely presented and tasty. We were more than a little shocked when we were charged £26 as there had been no indication of what it might cost. We assumed wrongly that it would be about the same as the snacks we had wanted. We left feeling more than a little ripped off.

This is a nice cosy little pub. As we sat down the chef came out and gave us both a chipolata sausage on a stick to eat whilst perusing the menu (yum). There's a decent selection of dishes on the menu, but an even bigger selection on the specials menu. I ordered the bacon chop and the missus ordered the smoked chicken tagliatelle. The bacon chop was delicious and juicy, but it was the triple-cooked chips that were the stars - they are fabulous! The dish also came with a couple of runny eggs, which provided the perfect dunking opportunity for those fab chips. The smoked chicken tagliatelle was wonderfully creamy, but not too rich. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the smoked chicken (smoked in-house) was moist, tender and delicious. We had a quick chat with the chef, and his passion is clear to see. The prices are great, so I would definitely recommend for locally-sourced, tasty pub grub. We'll be back.

In Castleton we found this absolute gem of a tearoom. ❤️ The cakes were the best I have ever eaten, the chocolate cake was triple layer with the sponge so moist and the frosting thick and delicious 😋
