A lovely, country pub with good food, decent beer and friendly staff. Very impressed with our meal tonight - the pub was busy so always a good sign! Reasonably priced, and no stupid service charge added on (we did add a tip on!). Owner said all tips go to the waitresses who worked that shift, and entirely down to the customers choice. I wish all pubs still did this instead of adding on 12.5% automatically. A refreshingly, honest pub. We're going back on Sunday!

We were camping at Burr Farm, one mile away and found this pub when researching. The website had a couple of walking route suggestions so used that and incorporated a stop at the pub for a meal after nine miles of walking. Lovely beer garden, friendly staff and the food was delicious. Would certainly recommend and thank you for adding that little extra by providing the walking maps.

We picked The Church Inn for lunch, had a great meal, and then called in again for a dessert after a 9km walk, which took in some beautiful scenery. The menu was very varied with some of the pub classics and a few more adventurous dishes. The slow braised ox cheek was delicious, as was the stilton-topped fish pie. Generous portions and great vfm. After our walk, the ginger and lemon pudding, and bread and butter pudding really hit the spot. We will definitely be back! Thanks 😁

This was our last pub visit of the day, after doing a peak district tour of pubs & villages. It was around 6.30pm & we were getting a bit hungry & driving down country rds on our way here....Sorry sir no tables left, so we had a quick drink looking at where to go instead, but this place was top of our list with great reviews & 4.8 * The landlord came over after a few minutes, probably feeling sorry for us & said I can squeeze you in, someone's left early. I ordered the salmon in white wine sauce & vegetables, the wife ordered leak & mushroom au gratin...omg....food to die for, the salmon was the best I've ever tasted & veg lovely too. The Mrs said hers was absolutely delicious aswell, compliments yo the chef.....Great pub, great location, will be back one day.

Up to the 7th day of going to the church inn for food and drinks. I asked for extra sauce as food was dry. Waited 20 minutes. Told them I didn’t want anymore as it was extremely dryer and gone cold. Female owner came over and complained that I was talking to others about bad food. She didn’t care as had other negative complaints before. When leaving. The male owner came outside and intimidated me and my partner about our complaint. Came up to my face and spoke to me in a bad angry manner. Glad only visiting but was not a great experience for our Christmas holiday.

Don’t be deceived by the unassuming exterior. This is a proper cafe at its best. The full breakfast beats those I have had in a few four to five star hotels. It was near full when I went in but they squeezed me in and served me very fast. The very cleanly cooked and tasty breakfast came in minutes few with a piping hot cappacino before. Top class and I will certainly be back. Best breakfast for miles around and all for £6.50! I will definitely be back.
