Out of the way but fantastic find. Great food and bar. Outsider covered area and inside bar/ restaurant area including dog friendly area.

Ate there on a very wet and windy Monday night. Blazing fire, cheerful staff, and great food.

As always, a friendly welcome with great service, food and drinks. We were a little late finishing and it was no problem for the staff, they were pleasant and polite throughout. Thank you for a great night - Simon

Great little village pub, cosy in winter, pleasant in summer with small beer garden at the front. Good food, friendly staff, good beer. The only thing is no car park and on street parking, but that is the only niggle!

We only came for a drink after a walk. There were 6 in the party and we were made very welcome. We thought it would be nice to go back and have a meal as it was such a lovely pub.

Saturday lunch for 2 + our dog. Proper pub. Cosy, roaring fire and friendly helpful staff. We had steak and peppercorn sauce and the Stilton chicken. Both delicious. Too full for dessert but the dessert options sounded delicious. Will be back again

We just popped in for a coffee with our two dogs. The service was friendly with the waitress coming over to offer our dogs biscuits. Great service and friendly atmosphere

Very welcoming pub. Young girl behind bar. Very welcoming and very hard working. We Came in for 7 days on a trot and spent loads of money on drinks and food. Ate most days. Manager in charge on this day. We asked for more Stilton sauce. Waited 20 minutes. Asked owner twice where the sauce was and said very rudely look it’s busy. Very rude and abrupt Bring the young girl back. I understand she can’t work 7 days a week. But from what we see. She keeps the pub going. Owner. Very Rude rude rude. Couldn’t run this lovely pub without her.

Up to the 7th day of going to the church inn for food and drinks. I asked for extra sauce as food was dry. Waited 20 minutes. Told them I didn’t want anymore as it was extremely dryer and gone cold. Female owner came over and complained that I was talking to others about bad food. She didn’t care as had other negative complaints before. When leaving. The male owner came outside and intimidated me and my partner about our complaint. Came up to my face and spoke to me in a bad angry manner. Glad only visiting but was not a great experience for our Christmas holiday.

Would not go back. Management very rude and unprofessional

Hidden gem. Stopped by after a December walk. Great range of beers and ales, reasonably priced and local in many cases. Friendly staff. Very helpful. Food took a little while as it was clearly cooked from scratch and with care. Very reasonable price for such fantastic quality. Would highly recommend.

What a lovely pub. Food was excellent. My wife had scampi and I went for the oatcake. The place was packed but served in 15 minutes. Pop into the church next door if you have the time or inclination. Can't fault the staff for the service.

What a cracking little pub! We were made to feel most welcome, with both locals and staff alike friendly and chatty. My coeliac husband enjoyed a choice of gluten free beers on tap (we only discovered one of them was gluten free by accident, as the staff weren't aware). The pub quiz was also great, with good crack from the local teams. We ate at the pub once and popped down for a pint on a few other occasions while we were staying in the village. I would definitely recommend booking in advance if you want to eat, as it's a popular destination.

Lovely pub with real ale and good choice of food available. It was busy with a large party at the same time that we ate, so consequently it was busy and noisy, hence the only star lost.

We were staying at a campsite nearby and the food and beer was brilliant. We had three dogs so we ate outside and met some lovely people to talk to. Would recommend and when in the area again will visit.

We've been to The Church Inn a couple of times now, first just for coffee and cake, then for lunch. Delightful, friendly & comfortable both times. Obviously popular with the locals. Has a pleasant outside seating area too. A bit of a "hidden gem" though - on the edge of the village by the church (surprisingly enough!). Highly recommended! Hope to return soon.

We had dinner for two people at 7 pm on a Saturday evening and the place was lovely and busy. Despite being so busy, our food was ordered and delivered very quickly and the food was excellent quality. I would certainly recommend dining at the Church Inn to anyone and will definitely be visiting there again.

Great, home-cooked food, comfortable interior, not just dog friendly, but dog welcoming, ate here multiple times while on holiday. Picked up a leaflet on walks from the pub, did the 10 mile one - was an amazing walk, babbling streams, woods, open countryside. Highly recommend!

We have visited a few times when staying at Beech Croft Farm campsite nearby. Each time we have received a warm welcome and great food and drink. This time was no different, a must visit if in the area.

Lovely pub, great location and worth a visit. I had lamb moussaka. It was presented in a smallish bowl on the plate. There was little in the way of taste, lamb mince and abverguine, and it was bulked out with potatoes!? favour was ok. My partner had fish pie, again, baby prawns was her only gripe, plenty of fish and nice flavours. Pudding were, summer crumble and custard, and bread and butter pudding, both were lovely. Other meals coming (burger) out looked epic. If I was local, I'd try again. Nice staff.

Delicious food and not badly priced. I had the beef braised in Guiness with the Stilton Dumpling - divine! My husband had the lasagne and really enjoyed it. Place also had a lovely atmosphere and the staff were lovely. Will be going back for sure!

Rather bland but pleasant food and noisy table (due to a group of loud men next to us), made up for by the very friendly and engaging landlord. A beautiful pub which I'd be proud to call my local. Props to the landlord for showing up the grumpy, stuffy landlords of Essex and Cambridgeshire by smiling and spending time to talk to us. I hope to be back when I'm next in the area.

Nice pub, nice area, some great walks from here. Nice church to explore nearby. Dog friendly. Nice clean toilets. Has some holiday cottages nearby. Would definitely return when in the area.

Lovely pub tucked away in Chelmorton village we stayed at far ditch touring site which is handy for pub nearby , nice beer garden and you can take dogs inside but only in part of it also book if you want a table for a meal especially if you bring your dog

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here whilst on holiday in the area. A lovely little pub, very welcoming, friendly landlord, nice varied menu with generous portions and not too expensive.

Excellent food. Just called in with our three dogs and made very welcome. The steak and kidney pie was to die for and the sirloin steak was excellent the desserts were delicious. Would highly recommend this place if you’re in the area. Well worth a visit.

They do a fantastic roast dinner here and have a wide selection of guest ales & ciders. Being the only pub in the area, it gets quite busy! But this makes a wonderful 'local' atmosphere and, somehow, the small number of bar staff manage to make everything work smoothly out front for an overall excellent service!

This is a great pub, a little out of the way but definitely worth a visit. Although we did not have a meal the food menu looked very interesting and was definitely very popular. So book a table.

Absolutely love this place , the food is amazing , especially the homemade beef stew and steak pie 🥧 😋. Dogs are welcome which is great . It's a little gem of a place and we were told about it by the owners of Beechcroft farm campsite, another fabulous place.

We stayed for a week at the cottage at the back of the Church Inn. It's a beautiful old pub, great food, great atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. Just what you want from a country pub.

Stayed in the village 3 nights and ate and drank here 3 nights. The best roast dinner ever! Lots on the menu. We loved this place. Nice friendly staff too.

Fabulous country pub in a pretty rural village, food is traditional pub fayre and they have specials board with lots of homemade dishes. Steak and stilton pie is amazing.

We’ve regularly visited over the years and each time found the establishment warm and welcoming. This has been helped by the good staff led by Justin whose been there for a long time…that’s a positive by the way. The food was great quality, hot and wholesome. Swift service and clearly a well appreciated pub as it was full. Great place to eat at. The beers were spot on as well.

I last stayed at The Church Inn more than 10 years ago and Justin was running it then. It was very comfortable and the food and beer was superb. I used to fish for the trout in the nearby River Wye with my great friend, Anthony, who recently passed away. Those were lovely days, made perfect by Justin at The Church Inn. Brian.
