The Bridge Bakehouse in High Peak

We ordered mixed cake box for delivery this month.we had ordered during last lockdown and all cakes delicious (bit pricey compared to others) and delivery was prompt. This time a really poor service and cakes not edible. Delivered and left in shed by courier no note left. Contacted the bakehouse who were a bit non plussed just wanted our order number etc and said would contact the courier . That was the last we heard.... no follow up, no apology no replacement. We wont be using again!

CHEESUS CHRIST! CHEESUS CHRIST! CHEESUS CHRIST! Giving a cheese, onion and mozzarella sandwich such an insulting name to Our Lord Jesus, the son of the living God! How about naming one of your sandwiches after Mohammed? I dare you to try it! You wouldn’t have the guts!Such a shame that such high a standard and quality of food is brought down to below gutter level.The young woman taking our order was very pleasant as indeed was the one when we visited two weeks ago. We were not the first to complain about such an insulting name for a sandwich. My friend this time told the assistant we were Christians and found it offensive, very offensive. She said they had had other complaints and were going to change it, but when? It should have been taken down at the first complaint. It should never have been put up in the first place.

having not been able to visit Grandchildren because of covid i thought i would sent a box of brownies, the whole family were thrilled when they arrived. Beautifully packaged and tasted amazing. Prior to delivery communication with the bakehouse was excellant. Will definately use again and have already recommended to others. many thanks

Treat yourself! Choose from a fantastic range of hot and cold sandwiches, along with delicious cakes, soups. pies and drinks. Excellent service. You won’t be disappointed.

There is a constant queue outside the Bridge Bakehouse, which reflects the high level of goods they provide. I only visited recently for a cake after knowing about it for a while, and I was not disappointed.

I placed an order for my Dad’s birthday on Thursday 10th September to be delivered in Newcastle Saturday 12th. I messaged the bakery on Instagram just to double check the delivery time and they said it would take between 24-48 hours. I ordered two pick and mix boxes, they arrived first thing on Saturday morning in the cutest boxes all completely intact as if I’d just picked them straight up from the shop. We ordered a mix of brownies, blondies, red velvet and flapjacks. It’s safe to say that every single thing was AMAZING. The most delicious treats I’ve ever had. We often get these type of boxes for special occasions from all different places eg Leeds, Durham, and these are by far the nicest we’ve ever had. Amazing customer service, delivery, quality and choice! Will most definitely be going back here ASAP!

We had an amazing ‘Ultimate Rocky Road’ and the service was very friendly and welcoming. Great place to stop on a walk round the canal or as a pit stop through Whaley Bridge.

A lovely Bakery visited during Covid staff friendly, bacon and sausage sandwich very good, and the scones with cream are delicious, pity not allowed in shop but great quick service will call again

The Bridge has become our go to stop when in Whaley Bridge. They have clearly gone the extra mile to cater whilst recognising the impact of Covid-19. Their staff are super friendly. I also note my previous review about coffee sizes seeming a bit small. Well, last time I went the sizes had significantly increased so that comment of mine can safely be deemed expired. Absolutely recommended!

Offers a wide range of hot and cold sandwiches, pies, drinks and cakes - I recommend their Ultimate Rocky Road and Frappuccinos. Make sure you peruse their witty menu before you decide. Always excellent service and quality.

Great to see custom coming back. Sunday cyclists always use it for pit stop. For us it’s after long circuit dog walk. Staff always friendly - I love the bread rolls used nor bacon butties after long walk with 🐶

Excellent choice for sandwiches & pies. Good selection of goodies. Due to COVID 19 served outside, quick & pleasant service. Our sandwiches served with a paper plate, which was ideal as we were having a picnic lunch on a walk. Sandwiches were certainly well filled, had difficulty getting our mouths round them!

Ordered a pick and mix box and it’s arrived so quickly and they were delicious. Moist but crisp on the outside! Just how I like them. They are so big so I can’t eat a whole one at once, if anything they can be cut into three slices! Definitely not complaining. Great price, speedy delivery, super tasty!

Ordered two pick and mix boxes @ £16.50 each plus delivery on Friday 24th April asked for delivery Monday 27th to my daughters house in Chesterfield for her to take into QMC Nottingham on Tues. Cakes not despatched from Whaley Bridge until 27th. Rang to ask why they hadn't contacted me to say my delivery request could not be met to be told I had missed the cut off time on Friday and sometimes people ask for deliveries for birthdays that can't be met. Can't find any cut off times on website. Then was told that these are difficult times I know that, and that is why I had ordered these cakes to be delivered to my daughter on her day off because the rest of the week she and her colleagues will be working on a Covid 19 ward. They don't want cake that has been left on the doorstep because The Bakery do not have the common courtesy to let customers know that their requested delivery cannot be met.

I discovered the bakery through Spar that was selling their products. The gluten-free brownie looked good but I didn't expect it to be the most excellent brownie I've eaten in my life. Completely flour-less, moist, balanced, well made. Incredibly well-made. The rest of their products look great too. Too bad I can't place online orders, I don't live in Manchester. Great job!

I probably visit here more than I should, but then why wouldn't you? Amazing grills, coffee and a selection of cakes to die for! Easily the best place for a lunchtime treat for a very long way around!

So, I've not actually visited here but regularly go to a cafe in Bollington and only recently tried one of their brownies. It was so amazing I had to go back two days later to get another! When I enquired where they were from they informed me they had tested many and decided the Bridge Bakehouse in Whaley Bridge was the place to get them from so they now supply their brownies and tray bakes. They are AMAZING - the best chocolate brownie I have ever tasted and next time I am passing through Whaley Bridge (Usually on the way to Lyme Park) I will definitely be stopping off to buy some. I am however, very glad indeed that I can get these from Cafe Waterside in Bollington too.

Great place for a post dog walk coffee and bacon butty. Staff always friendly food and coffee excellent. Many regulars with digs to talk to. What’s not to like.

Hi we usually visit for cake and coffee each time we come to Walley bridge on our hollsI tried one of your sweet potato pies and it was delicious, it's really nice to sit outside and watch the world go by, lovely place, friendly staff

I discovered these cakes in Calver, & make a point on visiting the Spa shop there on the way back from Derbyshire to Sheffield.We decided to go one step further, & drove over to Whaley Bridge where the cakes are made.We ordered soup & cakes, & sat outside underneath the heaters. The soup was lovely, & the cakes beyond tasty, I tend to go for the caramel flapjack & pecan brownie, but can vouch for nearly all of them as I've tried most of them by now.The ladies working there were lovely, friendly, welcoming, & very attentive, & we will definately be coming back.I've only ever driven through Whaley Bridge, so we went for a little walk, it's such a lovely place that we'll definately return, & make a point of visiting this delightful establishment again.

The Coffee's good, but I do find most of the cakes too sweet, and they're pretty pricey. I do like the sandwiches though, made fresh to order.

Visit this very popular cafe frequently. Amazing cakes and very friendly staff, the range of cakes are amazing and I frequently buy them for friends. The home made sausage rolls are also excellent. Seating outside is restricted as on good days it is very popular.

When in the area we have visited here a few times & never been disappointed.

I always love going to the bridge bakehouse, the staff are so friendly and they always make me smile.

Whilst I appreciate that this bakery is dog friendly, but not inside please. I have been in here a couple of times and dog owners think that it is OK to bring their dog inside whilst they wait. This serves food and the sight of dogs inside is really off putting.One person actually held their dog adjacent to pastries and pies by the checkout. Pretty sure there is a sign on the door about dogs but this is not enforced by the management.

The amazing cakes, polite and friendly staff and overall atmosphere of the place makes the bakehouse my go to place when I am in Whaley. Especially after a long walk or dog walk; as they are dog friendly too.

I've headed here on multiple occasions. It's usually busy when I do. I think that's testament to the service given and the choices available, especially the cakes. Service has always been friendly even at busier times. I feel there is scope to improve the vegetarian options - they seemed quite limited to me. Perhaps it's as simple as advertising an ability to custom orders to remove meat for a discount. That said, there are many options for meat eaters so those not avoiding meat should have a good choice at their disposal.

Firstly, the place needs a good decorate, the walls are filthy! The staff are rude - (you literally feel as though you are being judged) and are more interesting in chatting to one another than serving customers. All of the staff where wearing flip-flop sandal type shoes which is SO unhygienic in a food establishment! Not going to lie the cakes are good! But based on my experience at this bakery I would definitely not recommend!

Great cake selection and pretty reasonable prices. Small outdoor seating area, suitable for dogs. Whilst there are a couple of options gluten free (brownie, or pavlova), it isn't really a gluten free bakery.

Just what we needed before setting off on a long walk (the next leg of the Peak District Boundary Walk, to Buxton) - some really good coffee, quick & friendly service, and the largest choice of toothsome cakes we've ever seen. Don't take our word for it - head here fast!

We visited here while we were staying close by in Hayfield for our anniversary. we really wanted to come here as it was recommended by our local garden Center Tim merman’s in Nottingham and we were not disappointed! We ordered sandwiches which was served with the freshest bread with delicious fillings. We also could not resist trying a cake! The only trouble we had was which one to choose as there was so many and they all looked delicious . The workers were so friendly and even though it was super busy they were so helpful and happy. We will definitely be coming here again.

Stop off point on a bike ride. Great place. Super staff and what an array of goodies. Fab outside seating area. More of a deli takeaway, wit no inside seating, but with the sun out fab outside.

A lovely place to stop and have cakes and coffee and watch the world go by . Lovely friendly service, wonderful home made cakes and biscuits. You can sit outside in almost any weather.

Sat outside and enjoyed the food. I'm local, but have been avoiding the place due to the ridiculous 'sex' advertising they seem to insist on. As they seem to have finally come to their senses with that stuff, and I was hungry, I thought I'd chance it. Not bad, not bad at all.

Love the delicious coffees, milkshakes and cakes!!! But also do a lovely range of sandwiches and sausage rolls to either takeaway or sit outside and watch the lorries trying to get down the road to canal 😂😂

Love this place, they do fabulous cakes but also great for breakfast as well. They do sausage and bacon sandwiches as well as various coffees and teas.

A friendly welcome is always present here. Coffees are excellent and there is always a vast array of savoury and sweet patisserie treats. Very good value indeed

Where do I start? We initially ordered a cup of tea and had a sit down in the heated seating area outside to decide on which cakes to get. The decision wasn’t easy, everything looked so beautiful. Massive slabs of brownie and traybakes, beautifully crafted patisserie and the biggest meringues you’ve ever seen! The prices are so reasonable as well, so we opted to get a load of cakes to take home. Whilst we drank our tea - a proper Yorkshire brew that went down a treat, we noticed someone eating a really yummy looking toastie. We weren’t even hugely hungry but had to try whatever it was, so we went in and asked the girls what kind of toastie it was and ordered one. They came out with a hot tuna and red onion melt in a gorgeous pink striped paper bag. It was crispy on the outside and melty on the inside, the nicest toastie I have ever eaten (and I make good toasties, but not as good as that). We then went inside and ordered loads of cakes, with the lovely staff chiming in with their recommendations as we were so spoilt for choice. I got a custard slice for the road and I wasn’t disappointed - it was absolutely massive and beyond delicious. These girls have got it so right, from the beautiful boxes and bags, the display case, the seating and fresh flowers on the tables - it’s just absolutely perfect. I have been to a lot of cafes, most of them a lot more expensive than this, but none have been anywhere as good in quality as this place. They really do put passion into their baking and everything is done to such an amazing level. We live three hours away, which is probably a good thing because otherwise we would be eating those cakes every day and wouldn’t be able to move! Absolutely bang on. Lovely cakes, lovely staff, lovely place!

I have coffee on a regular basis from this establishment and usually the staff are really polite and helpful. Unfortunately, not today. I actually left feeling that I will take my business elsewhere due to being served in a very rude way by a particular member of staff. Very disappointed

We were just passing through Whaley Bridge, as we have done many times, and felt a need for a coffee. When we got inside, we couldn't resist the delicious-looking cakes and finished up sharing a most delicious vanilla slice. There is, of course no seating inside, but there are some great sofas outside and undercover, with heaters provided! Would certainly use this lovely little cafe again.

Truly the best coffee ever! Courtney, Millie, Sophie and the girls (oh and Jack!) are just fabulous and we love our (at least) weekly visits! A great place to sit and watch the world go by as you sample the most delicious cakes and drink the best coffee you’ll taste. The best ❤️

Fantastic picnic provided by the bake house to take on the Phoenix day cruise. Pork pie was the best ever, and the cakes were to die for.

Amazing array of cakes and savoury snacks, I wanted to eat them all! The cakes we had were delicious, some of the nicest we have ever had. All the staff were lovely too. Definitely worth a visit!

As always I left it to the last minute for sorting a cake out. The Bakehouse, after giving the girls very short notice and not much of an idea of what I wanted for a 16th & 80th birthday the girls did a fantastic cake. The girls are absolutely fantastic, and the cake was very yummy!! Will definitely be ordering another birthday cake from there. Thank you so much girls

The Bakehouse in Whaley Bridge is THE social hub of the village & I would seriously be lost without it. All the staff in the cafe are always very friendly, helpful & smiling & the cakes are just super delicious!!! Especially over the last couple of years I have made so many friends there & the atmosphere is always very positive & buzzing. Many, many heartfelt thxs to Courtney, Millie & all the staff for all their hard work!!!! ❤️❤️

Lived in Whaley for a few years but only recently went in, and I've clearly been missing out. Generous portion sizes of tasty treats and nothing that particularly breaks the bank. A real asset to the town.

The chicken, mushroom and bacon pie is to die for! And the cakes are lovely, made by one of the staffs cousins. The staff make a great team and are all really friendly having a laugh with my parents to. No seating inside but nice outside under some heat lamps. They could extend it to make an indoor seating. They certainly have the business for it!

The Coffee and bacon rolls are the most expensive In Derbyshire but just like the Cars in School Garage, they are the very best!!! Well Done, Buy the best and sell the best 👍👍👍👍👍

We went here today on our way home from an overnight stay. Everything about it was perfect, I can't fault a thing. I loved how quirky the place was and how it has outside seating but it's covered and heated so we could still sit outside even though it was raining. The food was gorgeous. I had a white chocolate mocca which was lovely and a cola ham, brie and red onion sandwich and it was one of the nicest sandwiches I've ever had. I took a cheesecake home and that was delicious too. I only wish we lived closer but will definitely pop in when we are in the area.

Third visit and if get a better all the time. That's saying something. Good coffee and fabulous pastries. Very good staff and good outside seating. Highly recommended!

I have been calling here on a regular basis since they opened around five years ago and in all that time I have never been disappointed. Cakes are delicious and full of lovely calories. If you are on a diet pass them by. Coffee great and best of all they love dogs. Only problem is they have become so popular you often can’t get a seat outside, especially in the summer. The girls are consistently cheerful.

I love independent places and this has to be one of those special ones that ranks really high on all fronts. Staff are really friendly and food and drinks were brought out to the roadside tables that we were sat at.

Stopped for lunch today and was absolutely spoilt for choice. Delicious sandwiches and and sweet treats galore. If you like hot chocolate, you simply must try one here, never had one so chocolatey. Would recommend 100%.

Was passing by this establishment today. It all looks very pleasant with brightly coulord tables and chairs on the footpath as well as the comfy looking corner garden furniture which was occupied. As I passed one of the brightly coloured collapsible chairs my bag got caught resulting in the chair falling collapsing on my foot. It has to be consider other people were using the footpath so space was very limited to tables and chairs being placed all over the place. I now have a very bruised foot not that anyone in the shop was bothered or concerned. It looks very nice for visitors to the sera or people who are chilling drinking but for the people that have this to do it is a pain and accident. I am just pleased it wasn't a small child or animal that it happened to as all I can think is health and safety.

Visited the bakehouse yesterday After a long tandem bike ride gasping for a coffee and a quick bite to eat couldn’t of picked a more beautiful little shop/cafe I went for the freshly made hot cross bun and a lovely Frappuccino mocha choca attack coffee a Courtney special I was told and by god I wasn’t disappointed I sat in the lovely sunshine and read my paper with not a care in the world I would really like to mark this little gem of a place as a 10/10 what a glorious place to watch the world go by eating your hot cross bun wish you all the best in the future bakehouse will defo be visiting again soon

Very friendly with a really great selection of homemade cakes. The sandwiches are a treat ! Really enjoyed the visit.

Called here again for the 2nd time in a year as I’m not local and on business. Knew I was in the area this morning and just had to call here again for a bacon and egg on toast and cup of tea. The staff are amazing and the food something special. It is clear the effort the staff put in is 1st class. Can’t wait till next time

Always stop here for a coffee during dog walk. Staff love dogs and are always welcoming. Being next to the pet shop helps as does the sample gravy bones Coffee very good, cakes glorious, bacon butties splendid on a morning.

The bakery is excellent. The staff are wonderful but most importantly the cakes and brownies are amazing. But.....please change the peanut butter recipe back to the old one!

There were so many choices of hot or cold sandwiches and then lots of delicious looking cakes/ desserts it was difficult to choose - but we did and were very happy with the choices we made. All food was tasty. The staff were very polite and helpful. All sandwiches made fresh to order with a choice of breads to suit personal wishes.

Visited this little gem yesterday and was struck by the genuine helpful and cheerful young ladies that served us. We ordered a selection of cakes and biscuits, including a gluten free option for my husband.

Great choice of quality cakes and the seating area outside is heated. Nice place to sit even in the Winter. They also serve quality coffee. But the experience is lowered by serving in cardboard containers. Why serve such good quality coffee in cardboard? It's certainly not a Starbucks establishment serving poor quality coffee but they seem to want to create that style of place. Coffee on the go is not for everyone.....

Little family owned and ran Artisan bakery. Primarily a takeaway Patisserie with outdoor seating, heaters and blankets they also serve Tray bakes, biscuits, savoury rolls, freshly made to order sandwiches and the MOST AMAZING range of Cakes.

We only went in here to get some take away food for a walk in the National park. However the brown seeded rolls we had were so tasty ( and huge ) and the apple & blackberry flapjacks so good ( and huge ) that I just had to review them. Its a shame we live hundreds of miles away otherwise we would be regulars

This bakery is amazing!!!! Id seen it on Facebook and really wanted to go so when my mum took me out we called on the way back and I wasn't disappointed I've been twice since and still not disappointed just won't be back for a few months I'm on a dairy free diet ☹️

I come here on a regular basis for a soya cappuccino and slice of gluten free chocolate brownie. The staff are always lovely and I LOVE coming here!!!

Consistently great coffee and truly superb cakes. Only problem with the cakes here is which one to choose. Great bread available also. Small shop with outside seating on the pavement. Well worth a visit.

You can't fault this place. The girls working here are fantastic and BEAUTIFUL and will always see to your every request with a smile. Their coffee is delicious and their cakes are world class. Brownies to die for. And their selection is incredible. Don't miss this place if you're passing through or in the village.

I don't live too far from this brilliant coffee shop and bakery. So, I am not sure why it took me so long to enter!? Located on the main road through Whaley and right next to the pharmacy, it is in a prime location. I had to wait for my medication, so poped in for a coffee; ironically the grinder was out of order, so I opted for a Chai Latte and it was excellent. I chose a few sweet items from their well sourced bakery items. The carrot cake was unbelievable. I am a frosting kind of girl and it had just the right amount. Needless to say, I went back a few times during the week and everything was yummy. They open at 7:30am and I have a commute that means I leave much earlier which is a blessing in disguise as I think I would soon be addicted! The staff are amicable and know their products. A great place to stop as a local or if you are on holiday in the High Peak.

A lovely little coffee shop in the centre of Whaley Bridge. It sells different coffees and lots of tasty cakes and flapjacks at reasonable prices. There is a small seating area outside. It was raining when I went but still sat outside under a canopy which had a heater. Lovely for watching the world go by! The service was quite slow but there was only one person serving and she was very pleasant and it was busy.

The ladies who run this cafe are absolutely brilliant, not to mention beautiful! Hope they don't mind me saying that lol. Great coffee, and oh my god if you have a sweet tooth you've come to the right place. They also have a great range of sandwiches for a tasty lunch.
