It's a long time since I've been here, but attended a family birthday. The waiting staff were great and the food was absolutely fantastic, the four meat roast was delicious, with all the trimmings, what a roast at a country pub should be! Not a well kept secret though as you can imagine it was very busy. If you know the little mill, you know it's out of the way but well worth the detour.

Thank you so much for a wonderful evening. Hopefully the weather will be a bit better next time we come so the boys can run off some energy outside, they did laugh at the goats on the slide :)

It was easy to make the booking online. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food was ample and very nice. We had our 2 dogs with us and the had a snooze under the table while we ate. We were hoping to spend some time outside after our meal, but sadly, the weather decided otherwise. However we very much enjoyed our visit.

Absolutely beautiful place very aspirational and we had the means for all 10 of us 4 adults and 6 children to have dinner here yesterday. (£250) We ordered mezze sharers for a start and as they were busy it came out a little late, we tucked in the bits were lovely but they had forgotten to warm the pitta so we were all tucking in to COLD (par cooked) pitta bread that was dry and crumbly. The kids had cracked on and when we told the staff they brought an extra 2 pitta which were cooked and delicious. When the mains came all was good except for the lamb chops which were almost raw and bleeding all over the plate and table. I lost my appetite so this was refunded. However the manage wanted to argue about the 5er we wanted knocked off the meze starters. She even reported back to colleagues loudly that we wanted a 5er off the starters but she had only given £4 off. So disappointing when the owners werent there. Really took the shine off.

We stayed here for a few nights this week. Its a brilliant place to stay. All the staff are really friendly, it's a lovely bar/restaurant, the food is excellent, the rooms are clean and comfortable and a pint of Stella is only £5.10. We had a great stay. It's a handy location for visiting the Dales. Great for families - plenty of animals and play areas.

Went for a meal today for a special birthday The roast potatoes were there hard I nearly broke my front tooth the knife wouldn't even cut them The meal tasted sweet as they did honey roast carrots and they put them on top of the cabbage My husband got apple crumble and custard it was cold and the apple was big hard chunks All I can say you got plenty of food For the price we were disappointed and won't be going again

We visited in the summer months, so was able to enjoy the lovely beer garden and surroundings outside. We had a lovely spot in the shade with our baby and it was a relaxed atmosphere. The food was mostly great. Out of 6 of us, 5 really enjoyed our meals. My husband didn’t enjoy the salmon as much. The service was mostly great. However, we had one request which was to have some boiled water, which was needed for our baby and her medication. Disappointingly, this request was turned down on the day. This was due to being short staffed and apparently isn’t permitted. Many parents of young babies request hot water to warm their bottles of milk for their babies, so I didn’t think this was too unreasonable. We managed around this, but I decided to highlight this to the management by email and still haven’t managed to get a response or even any acknowledgement of the email. Therefore, I have taken off one star to reflect this experience. I think this slightly negative experience will mean we may not visit again in the future sadly, or perhaps not until our child is a bit older. The playground did look a lot of fun for the older kids.

This was a lovely place to stay overnight in our van. The staff were very good too and the locals were friendly, offering advice on where to go next. We had a roast dinner there which was delicious but we couldn’t eat it all, large portions. The pub also hosts an amazing play area for the kids. We were almost jealous of them - that wonderful slide. 😉 The pub also promotes beautiful areas in the Peak District to visit. I feel this beautiful area is underrated. I wish I was a bit younger and fitter so could do more hill walking but we were content to wander a little way from the pub.

We had a wedding to go to down the road from the venue so arrived early before check-in to drop our bags. Very friendly staff and very kindly allowed to use a room to get changed for the wedding. Helped us with a footpath across the field of the venue as well. Rooms were tidy, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, a freshly cooked full English (pre ordered the night before) with a pot of tea and no buffet so the food was piping hot. We didn’t bring our kids due to restrictions at the wedding, but the outdoor play area for the kids looked brilliant including a massive slide. Overall, a fantastic place to stay!

We received a warm welcome on our arrival at this beautiful place, which is well off the beaten track. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. All of the staff members were polite, friendly, and helpful. Nice atmosphere for evening drinks in a wonderful setting. Breakfast was excellent, good portions and well set out. If we were to be ultra picky, the WiFi isn't the best, and not sure about pre ordering breakfast the night before. I visited here several years ago and remembered how lovely it was. I now live near Leek which is some way a way but me and my partner were thinking of going out for a run in the car for lunch and I suggested here. When we arrived I had forgotten how amazing it was and when we entered the pub we asked at the bar if there was a table for 2 but the Landlady Sarah told us they were fully booked which was apparent as it was really busy. When I told her how far we had travelled. She advised us to sit and she would sort something out. She was amazing and found us a table and we were not disappointed with the food there was plenty of it. The service, atmosphere, and not least the food was fantastic. We will definitely be travelling back to see the lovely Sarah and Co.

Lovely owners & setting, a really delicious breakfast & modern furnishings. However, we were given room 3 to stay in which at the time featured: - Hearing people in pub below chatting away until the early hours all too clearly and somehow making banging noises at the same time. It wasn't a rowdy crowd, there's just zero sound insulation so good luck if you do get a noisy bunch down there. - An air conditioning unit starting up all the time immediately outside window. Annoying with the window closed so forget having it open. - Nowhere to hang your towel within 6ft of the shower. - A worn out bathroom extractor fan that sounds like on old lawnmower. It comes on with the light so if you forget to turn it off your partner won't thank you for nipping to the loo in the night. - The bathroom was nice overall but some finishing looked to have been rushed.

Really friendly staff. Couldn't do enough for us. Lovely outside seating area. Food was plentiful and all locally sourced. Quality food cooked very well. This is important as we need to support our farmers. Prices were very good. Went to another pub restaurant which was a lot more expensive yet no local produce and standard was mediocre. Big bonus is the option for a smaller plate for those of us that are older and don't need a large plate anymore. Would highly recommend. Well done.

We think the food is outstanding, the Sunday roast is really really good, scrummy and all the other words you should use! Could benefit from having a note section on the booking form to let them know about any special requests - such as a quiet table etc, we were placed into the small side room with another family and this was a little uncomfortable as it was like we were gate crashing a party of 14 people! However the outdoor space and the inside dining areas are lovely and everywhere is spotlessly clean. Also like to ask for a few better on draught ciders as they only have Magners which isn't great (in our opinion).. Overall we were super happy and will be back again and again!

Instead of offering us a drink until a suitable table became vacant was in fact, very condescending to the point of being reallyy rude and unprofessional. No customer care skills. The Inn is really gorgeous with great staff and the most delicious meals. We really enjoyed our cooked breakfast and evening meals. The dogs had a great time too. We were made to feel so welcome. A great place to stay in the Peak District with lovely walks literally beginning right outside the Inn door. The weekend was so special for me and my gorgeous boyfriend we've booked again.

Dear oh dear oh dear ..... took friends having recommended it. What a mistake. A once great 'pub with food' has lost it's way chasing a Michelin star .... for whose benefit? Certainly not the punter's. Having visited regularly since it first opened and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere it's now inflexible, a poncy menu choice, deadly dull and too expensive. Requested they drop the mash on the pie dish, not a fan, and replace with chips .... 'I don't think we can do that'. Why not, does it upset the Chef's sensibilities? They didn't. Had to order chips as well. Friend asked for a soft-boiled egg, for some protein, to add to his Salad .... 'I don't think we have any eggs, if it's not on the menu we won't have any in stock'. They didn't have an egg they could soft-boil. A Michelin star chasing restaurant that didn't have an egg on the premises. Made it seem like the dishes were poly-bagged and flown in .... couldn't be adapted. 'Open-kitchen' doesn't work .... we had 90 minutes watching 4 staff looking miserable. Totally inappropriate music for a restaurant .... we weren't in River Isalnd. Dessert .... 'Honey cake, poached plums, crème fraiche sorbet' .... looked like it was out of a box from Waitrose's dessert section. 'Cake' was hard, assumed it would ooze honey .... couldn't finish it, indigestible. Cheapest wine .... £30 Most expensive .... £190 Very, very disappointing. Walk in the area regularly and it's always been a post-walk treat .... taken friends and family many times, Christmas and New Years Day visits too. Never again.

Nicely kept ale - from Storm Brewing - and managing just one at a time in line with midweek custom. Cash only bar but nice locals atmosphere, on the back road between New Mills and Hayfield.

Lovely pub, really friendly staff. Ordered camembert and steaks, delicious and cooked perfectly. Brilliant selection of ales. Really recommend this pub for dinner and drinks. I hope I can come back soon! Edit: I came back and extremely glad I did. Favourite pub on earth. Food is soo good and Moravka is my new favourite larger
