Food is great. Atmosphere great. Service a bit of a let down. No check back. No asking if we wanted anymore drinks. Not offered dessert menu. Getting sauces, salt etc in sachets (not enough) when paying that much for food is a let down.

Always get food & awesome beers and good service ..back next wk ..😉👍

Great food at this pub. We booked last minute as it served food quite late and we had to bring our dog with us. Although the pub was quite busy and lively, the staff were very accommodating. Would recommend.

Oakwood is a great place. It was very busy, but we got a table outdoors, heating lamps in situ if required. Service was good. We didn't have a reservation so we were not able to dine here, but the food looked delicious and smelled divine. Will book in advance next time!

The Oakwood has a lovely atmosphere, I went with my daughter a couple of years ago and went back today, nothing has changed, tasty food, tacos to die for, this time we had a wrap there was too much sauce unfortunately which is why I have given 4 stars. Prices were very good. I would go back again.

If ordering chicken, please note: the fried chicken and grilled chicken is obviously frozen from a box, and simply reheated. Cocktails are overly sweetened.

Went on a Sunday, they do stop serving food at 7, but I had what might of been one of the nicest Mai Tai's I've ever had, so that made up for it!

I had a truffle burger and truffle and parmasean chips it was lush i thought £8 for the chips was pricey but its worth it the portion size is big and tastes lush and the staff were very friendly and helpful

This by far has been our best dining experience in England! The staff was very outgoing and friendly. The menu was extensive. The food was fresh and amazing flavor combinations! Absolutely recommend eating here!

Would love to say it was appalling but that would be doing how bad it was an injustice. The staff might have noticed had they taken their heads out of their phones, did a quick table check or even acknowledged the fact we were leaving. Overpriced overcooked poor quality cold food served by staff who really didn't look like they wanted to be there and spent most of their time on their phones. Saying the above I must admit I've had a worse taco .. 1981 drunken street vendor in a small town in Mexico @ 4am but at least it was hot, had some flavour and he had a smile and gave us a song. Ladies toilets were dirty with no hand soap and whoever had been in gents before me needs a litter target practice Had we realised it was cashless before we had sat and decided then we would have gone elsewhere.

What can I say first time at the Oakwood the other night with friends after work they had been before but my first time. Fabulous food so yummy Staff was so nice and friendly, Definitely will be back to try the rest of your menu.x

Admit to finding this place by accident. Great and pleasant shock to see the awesome and different to norm menu. Great prices, and superb quality of food. Brill team of people working there. Wish we lived closer. Loved it but it's blown my diet lol.

Great selection of beers - from Robinson’s and other brewers. The Robinson’s Pitch is the best stout I’ve ever had. Perfect balance of flavour. Better than Guinness. Would be awesome if they also got some bottles of Robinsons Old Tom.

We have been a few times and generally the food and service have been good. Unfortunately the most recent time the service was so slow and each time we wanted something we had to go to the bar to ask and no waiters were around in the restaurant, we would come back as it's a good place to meet for us however would want the service to be considered!

Vegan menu is nice and varied👌🏽 Had The Oak wood burger (V)🌱 The giant gherkin just makes it.🤤All burgers can be adapted for a Vegan option, not many places I know will do this so big👍🏽 Staff are friendly.😁 We were pre warned food would be late, as it was busy. Was no problem as was only half hour.😀 The chef made up for it in tasty food. 🍔 Beautiful cosy garden space.🌸 Yep! IPAS here too🍻Good shout!

Ordered the vietnamese crispy beef wrap. The beef was thick with a soggy not crispy coating. The beef was tough and we were unable to eat it. Wrapped up in a shop bought tortilla wrap There was no real taste to it and nothing spicy either. Could have had better at half the price at a chain pub up the road. Very disappointing meal. The staff were pleasantly uninterested and no atmosphere at all. Will be trying somewhere else next time in Glossop.

Ordered Steak and fries with parmesan and truffle, steak was great but fries were extremely salty and couldn't finish them, ask for no salt on fries if you order this meal

Food is always amazing, so tasty and just has that little bit extra that makes it the slight bit more special! Food service could be better as you’re slightly isolated from the bar area, but the food makes up for it.

Found this place whilst wandering around old glossop for the first time, and they allowed us in with our little doggy. We sat on the high stools in the bar area by the window and it was decorated lovely for Christmas. They had lots of vegan options for my partner and we chose spicy cauliflower for starter , loaded fries and I had a Greek gyros style bread dish filled with chicken etc. I could not eat all of it, the portions are huge! Food was so delicious, quite pricy though but as it was so nice we made the exception! Staff were friendly to us and the pooch and gave her some treats Coffee was good too. Would deffo come back.

We hired the upstairs venue for a small baby shower this weekend and were blown away from the service provided at The Oakwood. The staff were absolutely fantastic! From helping us lug our decorations and gifts upstairs to setting up the sound system for us. Nothing was too much trouble. They had taken our food order a week before and everything came out correct, hot and fresh. The day ran so smoothly, thanks to the wonderful staff here. Thankyou!

Hadn't been here for quite some time but reviews and friends recomedations suggested it was worth a visit. Quite right. Food was excellent with quick, friendly service. Beer choice was very good, stuck to dizzy blond which was excellent

Food was lacking. Had to send my Vietnamese fries back cause they were cold. Also, £7 for frozen chips is a push. Tacos were raw supermarket wraps with plain chicken and a bit of mayo. Staff were nice but service was slow. The cocktails were delish.

It’s a great place to be. The food is amazing, great quality. I always get the burgers because they are insane! Good choice of alcoholic drinks. It’s got an outdoor area which they put the roof up if it’s cold. I would recommend coming here even if it’s just for one pint!

A welcoming, friendly pub with excellent food and drink and an attractive interior. Thursday night music is an excellent and free event.

Enjoyed lunch in the bar area as tables booked in Eating area. Food and Beverages really good. I had the Goats cheese salad with plain fries (fries hot and crunchy, just right). Other family. Members enjoyed Philly steak wraps with loaded fries. Friendly, polite staff. Good ales.. 😊😊.

Overpriced and very small place

Me and friends popped in whilst visiting Glossop was busy had to sit in the beer garden to eat but heaters was provided so was nice and warm the wait for food was about an hour which we was told by the staff but the food was good worth the wait.

Went for coffee with friends (which was good) and given table at the back. Low shelving right above bench seat so whacked my head when getting seated. Really dangerous design as impossible to miss unless you’re under 5 feet tall. Mentioned this to waitress who said that a lot people have banged their heads on it but it’s just the design 🤷‍♀️. Message to the Manager, this is a high health and safety risk, get it sorted.

Dislike having to write bad reviews but I’m really left without a choice here. I had booked a table at 5.30 for myself, Husband two of our friends and our two children. We didn’t get seated until 6pm. I never mind waiting for a table as I understand things happen but a 30 minute wait for a pre-booked table isn’t good at all. We had to stand with our two children in a very busy bar. Once seated the server totally ignored our table. We had to call him over after 20 minutes. The server was very rude and totally unprofessional. If our children hadn’t been with us and hungry we would have definitely left. The food came out fast but was very basic and not worth the money in my opinion.

Whenever I come Glossop for a night out I always make sure I come here, I love the place. Great service and atmosphere. It also has some great drinks that I haven't seen anywhere else in Glossop.

Not a bad gaff, prices are decent and it isn't your typical loud bad too. Which was nice.

This is a lovely pub/restaurant with a good choice of food. I have been a few times. The staff are friendly and quickly took our drinks order. We ordered food and it arrived quickly, it was delicious. We ordered another round of drinks, good choice of drinks including cocktails, however no one asked if we would like desserts? The dessert menu looked good however I was quite full as we had ordered a couple of portions of chips to share between the 5 of us which was enough. The whole place has a great atmosphere, there is a separate area for the restaurant bit. I would say it’s a good place to meet up with friends however it is very noisy so maybe not for a quiet romantic evening. Note they DON’T ACCEPT CASH?? I’d had a problem with my card (as in I had lost it and my new one had not arrived) luckily I had some cash to keep me going until my card arrived but this is useless in a place that does not accept cash. Why do you not accept cash? I would have stayed after my meal for drinks in the pub area however I did not as I felt a little embarrassed that my friends had to pay for my meal so I went home.

We visited at Lunch time one day, waited at the bar for what seemed like an age, the bar person was upstairs doing something (no idea what) we were looking to purchase food and drink, however we were told we were welcome to come have a drink but we couldn't get anything to eat until 5pm, about a 4 hour wait so we had drinks and left.

4 of us enjoyed a lunchtime meal. The welcome was warm and friendly and the service was really good. the substantial menu was really not ideal for our party, (we are old and traditional!) but we chose wisely and really enjoyed what we were served. The Burgers were excellent so highly recommended.

Been a few times as it’s local, always a relaxed atmosphere even when it’s busy! Staff are great, very friendly and helpful. Food 👌, and the portion sizes are great, have taken little ones too , they’ve been made welcome and not felt “ in the way” . Nice beer garden when the weather is good .

Fantastic food and drinks. Very accommodating for people with allergies. I have a few and they were so helpful, when helping me choose something suitable to eat and making changes. All the food is delicious, especially the pizzas, tacos, gyros oh and loaded fries! Just the whole menu 😅

Feel bad having to review this review as we are regulars, but the management need to sharpen things up, we eat least once a week there. Sometimes we experience the blunt we are booked up responses other people have reported but we can overlook that. But we popped in early on Friday night just for a drink, shocking service from the bar staff. Not the first time but this was the worst. We came in sat to the right at the bar all the staff 5 of them were chatting at the end of the bar. Not a busy time as it was quite early. We waited, they saw up but carried on chatting. A few people came in and they served them. I had to flag one of them down, I got a grumpy huff and a dark haired girl came over. We ordered drinks, she barely spoke chewing gum. Literally put her fingers in my wife’s drink to put a berry in it with her fingers. Totally disinterested and surly then she proceeded to whisper something to another of the staff. Keep in mind we are in every week and always tip well. Not sure if we will be back any time soon. Which is a shame as the food is good.

Nice spot, lovely decor and the food was decent. I had the chicken and halloumi burger the only downside were the skinny fries which were slightly overdone and a bit greasy.

The Oakwood is a great (Robinsons) pub, that is upmarket and has a cool vibe. They have spent some money keeping it fresh and modern; it has a lovely beer garden out back (though on a hot day watch out for the midges!) that is a stone courtyard with benches surrounded by plants. The bar area is lovely and there's a range of great lagers, beers, spirits and some seriously tasty and tempting cocktails! 🍸🍹(so sometimes it can take a while to get served at peak times) There is a side room for dining/playing board games and they have a function room upstairs for parties/events. It is always a pleasure to return.

Good ales and great food. The cheese and spring onion chips were loaded with good quality blue cheese. Absolute bargain. We actually came here after regrettably eating somewhere else, not far away, which was awful and we had to abandon it. Wish we would have came here first.

My wife and I were staying in Glossop for a few nights. We took a walk along the High Street on the Tuesday evening looking for somewhere to eat, and noticed this place was pretty busy - usually a good sign - so we went in. Most tables were taken, but - fortunately for us - there had been a 'no-show' so we got lucky. Food was great - can't even remember what I had, but there were so many items on the menu that I could have chosen. Service was good, and the atmosphere was also very good. Great value, and I would highly recommend.

Having done some research for a dog Friendly Pub the Oakwood had some good reviews. We were on Holiday staying in Buxton & decided to visit Glossop. we were greeted by a very pleasant Bar Maid behind a well stocked Bar. I chose a Real Ale, Thunder that was in great condition, My college sampled an unusual Bottled German Pilsner & our respective Partners 2 Coffees. We followed the signs to their Secret Garden to find a completely enclosed Walled Garden at the back of the Premises.

First time visiting here, with friends. Was a great choice. Lovely place. Friendly service and great choice of tasty cocktails

I have been to this pub several times over the years. I have been to party's there, I even auctioned my house there. Never had any problems. Clear near pub. Haven't eaten here so can't advise or comment on food. Beer prices were average. They had Trooper on tap when I last went (may 2023.).

Myself and 2 others work friends for the first time ever had the same day off so decided we’d go for a walk in the Peak District which was an amazing walk, trying to find the iconic waterfall but we weren’t successful. On the way back we ask Asma to find via google a nice place to eat lunch close by, the photos looked lovely and the menu was impressive. We arrived and were warmly greeted by a young waitress, we were seated to our table, so we ordered drinks while waited for our food. I ordered the original chicken kebab, Katrina ordered Philly beef wrap and Asma ordered a vegan burger, the food was amazing but the vegan option wasn’t nice, so they change it to prawn wrap without hesitation or awkwardness which was out of this world. We also shared the salt and pepper fries which we were told was a huge portion so we took the waitress’s advice and it did not disappoint. The decor was quirky fun and historic, really done to perfection, everyone was so friendly which we weren’t expecting. We would highly recommended this place, lovely 11 out of 10 from us.

went here with my family for a nice meal out for a change, the staff here were so rude and obnoxious! took away my daughters drink without even asking of she had an ID and just took it out of her hand straight away even though she is 19! menu is so blunt and not worth the money, staff are rude, extremely claustrophobic and have to shout to even hear each other talk. would NOT recommend at all. very disappointed…
