All 5 of us really enjoyed the meal, excellent food, really friendly and helpful staff and nice and clean pub. Only slight suggestion I'd make is to drop the price of the main course slightly and reduce the portion size (they're on the large side) then we could probably have managed a sweet as well. Definitely be back.

Called in for last minute dinner on Sunday. The Sunday roast was delicious, hot & plentiful & the vegetables were all fresh. Tenisha, although serving on her own, was efficient & friendly with a lovely sunny attitude. Thank you for a lovely dining experience. Andrea

Can’t recommend this pub. Opening times posted as from 4pm. I arrived at 4.30 on 31/07/24 and it was closed. I waited and left at 5.15. still closed. Ate elsewhere. You snooze, you loose.

Called in for lunch, was a bit put off by lack of customers, could have been early I suppose. Anyway we ordered lunch, and was served by very helpful and charming staff. When we received our lunch, we were pleasantly surprised, it was most delicious, and would certainly recommend it! I think it's the only pub round those parts that do food at lunch time, and certainly deserves to do well! Many Thanks! And good luck!

Could not fault at all, very welcoming from phone enquiry about booking to also cooking a meal seen on their Facebook page that wasn't on the evening's menu Salt and pepper chicken on madras chips is excellent

I would still go to this place but for pub lunch in a small village i feel it was little expensive we only had two starters two lots of chips drinks we paid over £40.00 great service very clean. It's not put us off going as I love the area. Just have a main meal then i feel its value for money. Like I've said fantastic place to call in to for a beer. Make you feel very welcome.

Really nice pub in the village, lovely home cooked food - Sunday roast and vegetarian Shepard’s pie with all the trimmings. Chef was also able to cook something up if nothing on the menu worked for a vegetarian diner - fantastic service.

Been a while since I was last in there, has been thoroughly modernised, Had a Mixed Grill which was excellent with just enough space left for a desert (can't remember what I had). I was drinking Strongbow but I do know they have 0% beers as well if that's your thing.

Really enjoyed visiting here. I had come over the Monks Road into Charlesworth and called in on the off chance they served food. Had the 3 for 2 light bites which were good value. Lovely little pub inside. Would be happy to return.

What a find? On the way to see my daughter in Bury,we found this lovely place. Staff were so welcoming and friendly. We only had drinks but will make sure that we return next time for a meal.

What a great little pub. We didn’t realise how modern it was from the inside, bar staff, all very friendly and polite. Local people here are very helpful and willing to chat, especially since we went from the area and we had a quite few questions. We only came here for a quick drink, have a lovely atmosphere, and if we were in the area again we would happily visit again.

The pub is in a lovely setting, the inside is lovely too, WOW the food I had cheese mash and onion pie the Stoke way! ;) It’s was just like my mum used to make!! Hands down the best

Great pub was very busy when we went so we sat out side near the car park. Personally I'd trim those trees down so there's more light and sun.

Chicken pie at £14.95 that was half mashed potato - not good. Pulled chicken & hoisin sauce, very hot. Too much chilli!! Looked like dog puke piled on chips. Not good at all. Complained but no joy.

Absolutely gorgeous food and the service was amazing will most definitely return. absolutely amazing place to go after a hard day's work. Had the loaded chips with roast beef oh my god they were gorgeous and also had wings and belly pork absolutely divine

Pleasantly surprised -Not been for many years and a friend suggested we try it now. What a great little place, good choice of menu and specials, few things done very well. Staff could not do enough for us, each one attentive and polite. . It made a very pleasant lunch out, would highly recommend

Last visit, half the lunch menu wasn't available (including no fish dishes) and , despite being the only customers in the pub, the two staff ignored us as we stood at the bar, while they fiddled with the coffee machine, so we didn't eat there. Previous visits have also been unsuccessful - had to return a bad pint, for instance. Such a pity. UPDATE: there is (again) new management and, hallelujah, that appear to know how to run a pub/restaurant properly! Just went for Sunday lunch and it was delicious and the staff were lovely. What a difference. I'm happy to update the score to 5 stars 🤩

Tipped, forgetting it was Mum's day and STILL fitted us in.. They were so busy. There was a tiny issue with our order and resolved swiftly. Lovely people

Great welcome as entered for the 1st time, dinner came in quick time, fresh and enjoyable sharing Tapas and chicken strips for the child. Would recommend. Staying in the lodge 5 mins away, very handy. Even had a chef having a strop when waiting :D

Food was excellent 😋 Definitely worth a look. Real Ale's spot on. Even a friendly pub dog playing with the kids at the bar.

Lovely pub..split in 2..bar area and a restaurant area which was perfect for eating. Under new management. I had the beef pie and chips which was spot on..£15 so a bit on the pricey side ( but 100% worth it ) Partner had sweet potato and chickpea curry...she didn't like it at all. Didn't look great either. Definitely worth a visit.. everything cooked fresh..we had to wait a while which was a blessing. If we're back this way again we'll head for here for sure.

The George and Dragon is a pub which has been in Charlesworth for generations, every time it switches hands it's great. Love it. However the redesign makes the pub feel smaller but its still a stellar place to hang out in Charlesworth.

A great family pub with good food and beers

Not a good photo to have for this pub as no real ale on offer when I went in.

The place is comfortable, and doesn't have a bad atmosphere, but bar prices are unduly steep.

Super clean & tidy, great system in place for track & trace.

The renovation of the property appears OK. However, the staff are very rude, and have no consideration for local people, and compation regards bringing outside trade in. Whether you are local or passing bye consider twice if this is the somewhere you want to eat or drink.

We ate here twice during our stay nearby....both from the menu and also returned to sample the sunday roast. Both visits we cannot fault especially the roast!!!! Relaxed, cosy and SO tasty. Recommended already and will definitely be returning!

Fantastic food great atmosphere

I was recommend to go to this refurbished local pub by a neighbour. We have just got home from a most disappointing family meal. We all opted for a roast dinner. Firstly my vegetables were cold, so I had to send it back. Then when I tried to cut my beef, it was very difficult to cut and was as tuff as anything. I left all my meat and when the restaurant manager came to collect the plates she asked if everything was OK with the food. I explained that my meat was terribly tuff and couldn't eat it! She asked if anyone came to check during the meal that all was OK, to which I replied 'No'. We expected to have something at least knocked off the bill, but there was nothing in compensation. My son also had a roast dinner, but with no meat, and we thought maybe he would have been given more veg/potatoes, but no and the price was still full price for his. I'm really disappointed with the customer service given as what is the point in asking if everything was OK with the meal, if there was no intention of doing something about it. As this is a local pub, it would have been nice to re-visit, but the experience has totally put us off. Sunday's we often go out to eat, but would rather venture further afield in the future. We have visited 'The Devonshire' in Mellor on several occasions and the food there has been faultless!

Nice and cosy on a miserable day. Staff lovely and food good. Steak pudding very filling and lovely chips. Nice afternoon with my daughter and grandson.

Really nice pub! Only one left in what I'd deem central Charlesworth*, if that's a thing? So, decor, fantastic, loads of memorabilia about Charlesworth and the surrounding local area. There's also some sort of personalised application running in the TV, providing you with news, local train times and a general quiz. I've never seen this before and think it's a tremendous idea! Beers. This pub has a decent range of lagers, ciders and ales. It'd be difficult to be unable to find a drink that doesn't fit your tastes :) Food, not had any here personally, but the chips...omg they smell banging! Proper pubby beef dripping smell to em! I'm watching me weight, so decided not to partake. The desserts look phenomenal and that chocolatey brownie smell makes you full on smell alone! Come support this local pub and be guaranteed to have a good time. What else could you want? *There is the conservative club pub down the road, if memory serves me correctly.

Refurbished to a high standard, child & dog friendly. A lovely atmosphere, tho we only had drinks the restaurant was busy, going to try the food next time

First visit since the refurb, lovely warm welcome from the staff who couldn't do enough for us, its lovely inside and the warm atmosphere hits you straight away, we had a huge Beef Sunday roast, couldn't eat it all, and under a tenner as well, will definitely be returning. Added bonus, John Smith's on draught 👍

Great roast dinner, great value

Great food fantastic new decor a great night out

Starters bought in even though stated homemade, main course was very over facing. Vegetables some were very over cooked and other under cooked. Really want it to do well as refurbishment lovely but food and beer choices disappointing! Was going to book over Christmas but will be giving it a miss.

The pub has been refurbished to a high standard with great food and friendly staff, we will definitely recommend this place.

Staying locally for the week, we popped in for a couple of pints. Cosy and friendly atmosphere.

Stopped by after a long walk, very quiet, limited drinks offers (no cider on draft), there was no food being served that day. It seemed an okay place.

Great food. Games and colouring books for the kids to do.
