. . pero ¡qué suerte tuvimos! !

Absolutely magic that Carole, Peter, Mandy & Kayleigh have been able to reopen the Yew Tree, ably assisted by Simon & Lyndon. We have so missed the very warm welcome and opportunity to sit by the river with a cold drink.Things are a bit different with one-way systems & full table service, with staff-only allowed in the bar area (means they are very much getting their daily steps in). But they are the most professional we've seen with Covid arrangements - every chair & table is sanitised after use, toilets disinfected every half hour, plenty of hand sanitiser for customers & staff, plastic glasses outside, single-use menus, and all staff wearing masks or visors. But the quality of the food is as amazing as it always is.We had Sunday roast, followed by a massive slice of chocolate and fudge cake (which was too much and had to be shared it was so big)Well done folks - thank you for all your hard work put in to welcome us back. We hope things go well for you and we will be visiting again very soon!

The Yew Tree is a real hidden gem of a pub hidden down beautiful country lanes until you reach the river. In the winter it is a cosy, relaxing bar and restaurant and in the summer you can sit out in the sun on the lawns which go down to the river with wonderful views of river wildlife. The pub is family run and you will always receive a warm welcome. The food is outstanding. Nothing pretentious, just delicious home cooked food and plenty of it - try to save room for the incredible desserts!

Had heard great reviews about this place, so decided to pop in for a quick lunch. It comes across as a local pub for local people but the bar maid was pleasant enough. Food arrived promptly and you could tell it was homemade which is a nice change to other places. We were left to eat in peace and quiet with a beautiful view of the river. This was also nice as other places you'd be checked on every few minutes to see if everything was OK. Came here at the weekend with friends who live locally, for a 'surf n turf' event. While the pub is in a lovely location, and the owners friendly (as they know my friends well), the food really was not great for whatever was paid for it (I wasn't allowed to). The shared starter was a platter of underdone calamari rings, some small non-descript and vaguely edible round things in a limp herb crust, onion rings(!) and a few spiced wedges(!!). A bit meh all round.Asked if anyone wanted their steak well done, I requested a medium cooked one and got well done; one friend doesn't mind it being pink-ish but got it virtually still moving. We swapped but it was too rare really for me, and overly peppered to anyone's taste. Accompaniment was your personal allocation of 2 king prawns, 2 pieces of overdone scampi, peas, grilled tomato(?!) and lukewarm chips. Really not great.Dessert - help yourself to some sort of crumble (never made clear what kind), Cost-Co carrot cake or what turned out to taste something like bread and butter pudding.Really, just not good enough for a pub event although I am in no position to be able to say if it was value for money. If it was £9.99 per head? - maybe.

We arrived at about 2pm having cycled 35 miles - a fabulous friendly welcome - scampi in the basket x 3 ....... perfect! However, looking around us the Sunday lunches that were coming out looked fabulous - how we envied those Yorkshire puddings which were appearing on plates ........ Guess what - we're going back on Sunday in the car to enjoy the Sunday lunch!!

This little gem is tucked away on the banks of the River Severn. Whilst its hard to find, it well worth a visit. Its a lovely family run country pub, the food is fantastic, and huge portions. The staff are all super friendly, and they frequently hold themed nights, from Caribbean to Italian, where its a set priced all-you-can-eat. We love it there, and would highly recommend it.

This hidden away gem was recommend to us by several friends and so our anniversary seemed the idea occasion to try it out. Admittedly for a Friday night it was very quiet - although once we found our way to the inner sanctum of the snug we discovered a friendly bunch of regulars and locals round a cosy bar and roaring open fire. Serving a really well kept Prescott Grand Prix, the bar was atmospheric and welcoming. We chose to eat in the restaurant with lovely views of the Severn towards Deerhurst .The menu was sensibly simple yet with enough to tempt most palates, and a nice looking board of specials. We both plumped for steak, with local rump and sirloin on offer. The meals came in good time, and were very well cooked - just as we'd requested.the stuff remained attentive and chatted happily about the history of the place, including the regular winter flooding - an unfortunate but expected consequence of being in such a lovely riverside spot! The Yew Tree deserves to be much busier than it is out of high season, I would certainly recommend making the effort to find your way here, especially on a warm sunny afternoon to enjoy the riverside gardens.

We went to The Yew Tree for Hillary's 80th. What a lovely place. It is set in the middle of nowhere but only a 15 minute drive from Tewkesbury. The hostess was great, really warm and engaging. A lovely warm open fire too. The food was very good from a good selection. It is right next to the river Severn which was very nice. We would go again.

We found this dog friendly pub while staying at the Corse Lawn Hotel. I'm sure the food at the hotel is beautiful but we had an unsettled dog and were not able to take them with us to eat. Lovely local pub, friendly welcome in a cosy pub. I only wish we'd been in the daylight to appreciate the views of the river. They've just started doing holiday lets with B&B so we'll be back for longer next time.

We visited the Yew Tree on Saturday 24th May 2014. This is a pub we visited one Sunday a long time ago and couldn't remember exactly where it was to visit again some years later. We're so glad we found it. The pub is situated on the River Severn with a garden up to the water's edge and mooring for boats. From first entering the lounge we felt part of the community there. Staff and locals all chatting to us and some others who were regular visitors from Cheltenham. 2 good beers on (Doom Bar and Prescott Grand Prix) and a draught cider with a good pub restaurant menu and specials. Family run, the landlord/landlady's daughter treated us as long lost friends and chatted with us and others around the bar. My wife had a sirloin steak which was really tender with large, home cooked chips, mushrooms, onion and vegetables. I was recommended the cod and was told it was fresh daily, brought in at 6pm and I wasn't disappointed. Really fresh tasting and an excellent, thin, crispy batter with chips and mushy peas. All in all we had a great evening and were sad to leave. We'll be back - wish it was our local ! .Thanks Yew Tree,

Called in when passing by boat, moored up ok went in and was amazed by the friendly welcome especially as we had a dog with us. Loads of great beers and ciders to choose from, then the food, well what can I say: so many choices and all home cooked and locally sourced where possible. The pies and puddings were to die for, the steak (rib eye) melted in my mouth and was served with onion rings tomatoes mushrooms chips and an individual side salad. I went back with my mum who is a stickler when it comes to food and she gave it the thumbs up, Sunday lunch was great really tender meats ( 3 to choose from and a home made steak and ale pie) with all the accompaniments and cauliflower cheese and 4 other fresh veg to help yourself to. This is a great place to visit with children or elderly and is dog friendly.
