Popped in to the bulls head with my 15 year old twins after school I can honestly say one of the best meals we have all had for a long time . Steaks were cooked perfectly even my 15 year olds were praising the food Well done to whoever was looking after the kitchen will definitely come again.

This place is never open which is a real shame because the food is amazing. If you are really hungry choose a different chip shop.

Honestly, I've had better fish and chips from a dodgy van parked on the side of a motorway. The fish? Let's just say it had the texture of something that had been sunbathing on a leather sofa for a week. Chewy doesn't even begin to cover it. And the chips? Oh, the chips were a soggy, pale imitation of what they should be. They slumped on the paper like they'd given up on life. To top it all off, the price was absolutely outrageous. I left feeling significantly lighter in the wallet and deeply disappointed in my stomach. Avoid this place like the plague. You'd be better off microwaving some fish fingers.

Disgusting food taste terrible! Nothing like it was before the fire! Gone down hill terrible!.and sad sorry will not be returning again what a disappoint! 😭

A really lovely place. Lunch, dinner and breakfast all excellent. Set in a beautiful village, there’s a lovely garden, the staff were amazing, the room lovely, really nice extra touches. Such good value. Would highly recommend.

Our experience at this hotel was great. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and had a nice view over the river. The provided parking was tight, but appreciated. The restaurant has a somewhat limited menu, but it worked for us and our food was good.

Went for a lovely lunch with family. Was very easy to maneuver around with a pram and a disabled family member. Very good facilities and staff helped with the doors. Food and drinks were gorgeous. I had the chicken flatbread it was very tasty.

Great beer garden and pints are reasonably priced

I hope the staff have woken from their slumber by the time tourist season hits the Royal Mile. It wasn't even that busy with customers. Maybe 5 covers. We were acknowledged quickly with menus. 👍 We pointed out to them that something had been spilt on one if the chairs at our table. Nothing was done about it or even acknowledged. 👎 Then part of our order had been forgotten about. I had to chase this up. 👎Then the table next to us sat the entire time we had eaten, and drank... and used the restrooms before leaving and they still hadn't even had a menu put in front of them. 🤦‍♂️They also had to chase them up. The food itself was nice.👍 (Albeit you're paying tourist royal Mile Edinburgh prices). So a bit of a shame really. Could definitely do better.

Wow what can I say , absolutely amazing. We booked bottomless brunch for six people. 2 hours of draught beer , cider, wine prosecco, cocktails. Any meal from the lunchtime menu. At first we thought... Slow to take orders for food and drink...thought this is the fix, however this was not the case the drinks were plentyful. After our first two drinks the food came. What can I say. Hearty meals. Ploughman's, hunters chicken, Cajun chicken pasta, lasagne and Garlic bread, burgers, pies...and more. Jordan or server was the man of the hour, attentive to every need. Bus stop just outside to neighbouring village Will definitely come again. Well done, Rose and Crown. Proper hidden gem
