Went for a lovely lunch with family. Was very easy to maneuver around with a pram and a disabled family member. Very good facilities and staff helped with the doors. Food and drinks were gorgeous. I had the chicken flatbread it was very tasty.

Fantastic food and atmosphere, staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered chicken tikka flat bread, onion bhaji and a child’s fish goujons, portion size was fab and foot was tasty, even our fussy little one loved it, so 5 starts from him. Staff were so friendly and helpful would highly recommend eating here.

Went back here following a really nice meal, it was packed but we managed to get a table, you have got to be willing to ignore some of the language from customers nearby. We ordered some finger food which was very nice, drinks were cold, service was ok.

Booked a table for lunch. Food was absolutely lovely! Waiting staff very unobtrusive but very mindful. No long waits between courses. Drinks served promptly. Our server was very good. The only downside is: I lost a very sentimental ring. You cannot speak to the bar though.. as ' Due to current circumstances...' COME ON SD... COVID was 5 years ago. I left a message with the promise of a call back within 24 hours. I HAVE found the ring but no CB. However, my only gripe. ☺️

Booked a table 2 weeks ago for valentines night we where very much looking forward to a meal and drinks this was not the case. We where sat in the most cold part of the restaurant and dark and all we could here was the chief shouting I did think at one point it it was Gorden Ramsey. We ordered food our starter came out looked OK till a part of it was contaminated with pure salt it was the most foul taste it took 2 bottles of water to flush the taste away,it was that bad we cancelled our main courses and left . We will never be going back in there ever again

Service was great, food was fantastic. I had the roast beef Sunday roast. Plenty of vegetables, roast vegetables, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese was beautiful. Also pudding was sticky toffee pudding ( with dates). Just lovely. Not the cheapest place. But there again I’d rather pay a bit more and guarantee a good meal.

Booked the upstairs venue for a 40th birthday and it was class. Jenny and Hayden the coordinators were super helpful so thank you! The room is great with a bar, DJ booth in the rafters and a really good sound system, lights and there’s an outside terrace with heaters and lights. We booked our DJ (Karl) through the scruffy duck as well and he was spot on. Thanks for a good night!

I had a wonderful Sunday lunch at The Scruffy Duck this weekend! The roast pork was incredibly moist and tender, just how I like it. The vegetables were fresh and full of flavour, complementing the dish perfectly. But the highlight was definitely the cheesecake—decadent, creamy, and served in a huge portion. The service was top-notch, with friendly staff who made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, a delightful meal and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Highly recommend.

We went for Sunday lunch as a family. Luckily our family member in a wheelchair didn’t come, because the access was poor and very tight. We had a pram with us and had to move takes and chairs to get in. We then waiting 90 minutes for our food to arrive (not a very big portion). When we mentioned how long we had waited, the customer service was poor. The waitresses just stood around the bar talking.

We came for Sunday Lunch, party size 9. Food was lovely however we were told we couldn’t order extra Yorkshire’s despite being on the menu and the service was very slow. There were plenty of people on shift and the restaurant wasn’t that busy, yet we had to ask to take our drinks order and then also desert order and then had to remind the waiter to bring a drink that had been left behind on the bar. They did not clear out plates after eating for quite a while and they had not cleared any of the empty glasses from sitting down to leaving so the table felt very cluttered. One of the beef sunday dinners was missing carrots and the two chicken were not served with creamed cabbage as per the menu. We only received the tiniest amount of gravy so the dinner was very drive and ended up having to pay for extra. 6 out 9 ordered desert but the waitress also forgot one of the deserts so that arrived late. The staff were not very present overall so it was quite difficult to get their attention. It felt like we were promoting them to do their job.

I booked online at the start of December for 22nd December, knowing waiting to book this close to Christmas would get hard. I had put a note on the booking, requesting a table in the dog friendly area. Then just a few days before the booking, I got a phonecall saying I couldn't actually book the dog friendly area. This isn't stated on the booking page, it took weeks for them to actually tell me, and it was now probably too late to book anywhere else. I am advised to call up before I set off to see if there were any tables free in the dog friendly area. I then get an automated email cancelling my booking! I did not want my booking cancelled. I would have just left the dog at home if there weren't any free tables in the dog friendly area. I then call back, get the answering machine, which is full, so I can't leave a message. I then message on Facebook and there's an automatic reply saying it's not monitored but states an email address. I email and never received a response. Thankfully, I managed to book elsewhere as there had been a last minute cancellation. Absolutely ridiculous.

Last time we came (in January) the menu was better. Today we dined with 2 vegetarians and there was v little they could have. I had a chicken Caesar salad, which in all honestly, I could have done a better job of myself. The poached egg on top was wet, the chicken cold and the iceberg lettuce looked like it had seen better days. There was no fish main on the menu aside from fish and chips. There was only one member of staff serving and despite it being practically empty, it took a while for our first drinks to arrive. Unfortunately we won’t be coming back.

Myself and 3 friends went to the Scruffy Duck recently for a Breakfast and the first thing that I noticed was the hospitable staff and the friendly welcome. Marie and the staff were fantastic, especially with how busy it was at the time. We ordered a variety of different coffees they all arrived and everyone noted how lovely they were. I’m a vegetarian and ordered the veggie breakfast which was very nice, everyone else had a variety of food but again everyone throughly enjoyed what they’d picked! We ordered an extra side of pancakes they were amazing and I’ll be going back for them that’s for sure. We stayed longer than expected and ordered more coffees etc and Marie was more than helpful asking if we needed anything else. Overall a lovely Saturday morning breakfast spot and we’ll be back soon, and for anyone going soon try the blueberry pancakes you won’t be disappointed!

My brother had to send his parmo back as I think they forgot to put the cheese on!!! The second one wasn't much better. My wife ordered the Penne Arribiata and the pasta was overcooked and stodgy, the sauce was so bland and the garlic bread was maybe 1/4 cooked!!!! She ended up with a plate of chips. My wife and I visited 2 weeks ago and was wonderful, we enjoyed it so much that we booked a table for ourselves and my brother and his wife, and what a mistake!!! From being seated and told almost half the menu was unavailable to leaving, it was dreadful. When they brought out our meals, which took ages, my brothers parmo didn't look nice at all, and severely lacked cheese and was returned. My wife chose chicken arrabiata, which included over cooked pasta and the blandest sauce she had ever tasted and ended up with a plate of chips. The whole experience was very disappointing and wasn't helped by the fact that the waitress didn't seem to care!!!

Went for Sunday dinner, arrived at 14:30 to be told they don't have chicken, which is understandable as it's a Sunday. Decided to have the pork instead, two wafer thin slices of ham would have been thicker and tasted better. Vegetables where stone cold, and made up of a few peas, couple bits of broccoli which tasted like it sat on the kitchen side for a week. Finished my meal, which was the size of a children's starter and went to the nearest Toby carvery. I would not suggest the scruffy duck for Sunday dinner. Disgusting food, old, cold and stale veg, broccoli, peas and sour tasting cauliflower cheese, in a separate cold dish. Brown looking mash with one carrot and parsnip stick underneath the meat. We decided on jalapeño poppers to start, the portion size was stated as x6 however, we only received x5 so questioned where the last straggler was but by the time it arrived our plates and dips had already been whipped away and cleared so that was a bit of a hiccup but saying that they were delicious and we could have eaten more of them. My chicken burger was packed with pickles, cheese and relish unfortunately it didn't taste as good as it looked, infact the taste was practically none existent from any of the afore mentioned which was a bit of shame as when it arrived it did look really appetising. We visited for Sunday lunch, and were sadly disappointed. We were seated right by the toilets, and consequently experienced a constant flow of people walking to and fro, as well as the very loud hand driers going off all the time. The food was another let down. I’m sure during the week the food’s not half bad, but the chef clearly doesn’t have the heart to cook a decent roast on a Sunday. Every one of us on a table of six had poor quality, dry meat. Every Yorkshire pudding was cremated. And the one bowl of boiled-within-an-inch-of-its-life vegetables felt insultingly stingy. Charging £17 a head just added insult to injury. After all this, our finished plates sat on the table for half an hour while every member of staff did their level best to ignore us. They were still there, attracting flies, as we left. We recently moved to Norton, and all this visit achieved was to find one place to avoid on Sundays.

The room is a lovely venue, nicely decorated and the staff couldn’t do enough for us, even when we made some last minute changes to the layout on the day. We decided on the BBQ buffet, sausages, chicken & lamb kebabs, burgers, buns and veggie options. The food was plentiful, well cooked and tasty and many at the party commented to this effect. The DJ was great, playing the music my daughter had requested and not interrupting each song with chatter, just what we wanted. We couldn’t have hoped for a better venue, atmosphere and food. Superb from all involved, thank you.

The hot pot lamb was virtually inedible. The cheese cake was also inedible, far too sweet and sickly. Having paid £5 deposit and then £31 in total £36 I and my friends will definitely not be going back

I won't be back. I took my 93 year old aunt out for Sunday lunch because it's accessible for her mobility. She ordered the chicken supreme... which arrived as a roast chicken dinner. Not the kind of dish that a partially sighted elderly lady can eat. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was cold! When the manager asked I told her. She offed us 1 dessert to share(I declined). The tables and floor were dirty and I had to ask a waitress to wipe out table before she brought the food. The staff were young and inexperienced. Extremely busy. Traveling from Ireland, I would make a different choice next visit. Not the best that Norton has to offer.

Lovely food. Had the Sunday dinner, it came with loads of veg for the table and was delicious. The owner is lovely and service was great. Very welcoming with our two little ones, even cut my little girls dinner up for her and gave us a plate for the baby to share from my plate, which I know other local places can be funny about / charge extra for. Would recommend and will be back 👌🏼 Thank you!

Having watched the guy behind the bar( beard, dark hair, well built) on the lunch shift on 14th December eat his burger, open the top of a drinks container( I think mulled wine) at the opposite end of the bar to the coffee machine, stir it with a long spoon, lick the spoon repeatedly, walk around to the non food side of the bar and place it back in the container full of 'clean' utensils, ready to be used again,I was so disgusted and felt physically ill , left our drinks and will never return!

Absolutley disgusted & appalled at how bad Christmas lunch was! We told the manager at the time of booking (months before) that we would be bringing a 4 week old baby with us & so he would be in a pushchair. She told us we would have a little bit more room at our table for it. When we arrived, we expected to be seated straight away but were ushered into the bar to grab a drink while we waited for our table. It was so busy with everyone waiting & then they told us we were to be seated at a table that was in the bar in the corner of the room next to the Christmas tree. I struggled to get the Pushchair through all the people then other people had to help us move the tables & chairs out the way! The sitting for everyone was booked for 12pm, starters didn't arrive until 13:50! Myself & my daughter had the soup which was served with half a slice of normal buttered brown bread. My partner had the Prawn cocktail which was tasty but looked utter rubbish. The main meal then took at further 75 minutes to arrive. We could see other people finish their dinner at the other side of the restaurant 45 minutes before anyone had recieved there's in the bar area. The main was ok. Not impressive. 2 roast potatoes with no stuffing or pigs in blankets for Christmas lunch is just appalling. It then came 3pm, the next sitting were piling in the bar when we were still waiting for our 3rd course. I noticed 1 table opposite us had left before they recieved theirs! The dessert was the worst course of all! 2 of us had the luxury Trifle which was far luxurious being served in a plastic cup we could have bought better from the local supermarket. We didn't even bother eating it. The coffee & mince pies were none existent. £80 per person is disgusting to charge people for the chaos that Scruffy Duck made people endure for Christmas. Get more staff, don't put sittings too close together to make people rush or atleast serve meals on time so they have enough time to eat! We USED to really enjoy this place but after that we won't ever be returning.

Christmas dinner was an absolute shambles, not organised, not enough staff, food took so long to arrive even after we had all pre ordered our food well in advance. Main meal arrived food was either burnt to a crisp or under cooked, we did not eat the main meal and decided to not wait for the next two courses. Was a complete let down and at £80 per head expected better. Will not be returning for food or drinks again, used to be such a lovely pub to go to.

Total let down. Paid £110 each. Expected Santa and a gift. We had a plastic yo-yo left on the table ? Meals served separately so we didn’t have the main meal together! They forgot our dessert, then what was advertised as luxury was a trifle in a plastic pot. Then no mince pies or coffee mentioned. We left disappointed. Ordered a takeaway on the night after a thousand pound table !

Came for 2nd sitting on xmas day as we came last year and it was really nice , I'm sorry to say it was a complete wash out , I'd told our daughter how nice it was but I was embarrassed at how bad it was . 1st sitting still there at 3 , people queuing to go in , staff were run ragged and totally confused , first course came our 2 were wrong husbands good that was at 4-40 . We were about to leave and I looked for waitress to tell and she said dinner was on way which it did but very bog standard ! Dessert which on the menu we were sent was sticky toffee pud but that's not on our menu , eh ! Guy rang us 2 days previous to check our choices and said yes great ? I felt sorry for staff as they were all over the place , very very bad . Should have done 1 sitting , but would have xnas there again sorry and it's not cheap

Arrived on time for Christmas lunch with family costing £110 pp , so expected a lovely day … greeted with a smile & a glass of bubbly … But that i’m afraid when it all started going wrong ! Starters : Was served not by table , but by what you ordered , having to hold your hand up telling the sole waitress “I ordered soup” … this meant people had finished on our table while others were still waiting … Unbelievable !!! Mains … Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings consisted of 2 roast potato’s 1 slice of beef , 1 yorkshire pudding & a piece of broccoli & to top this it was cold … effectively was a microwave sunday dinner you buy at any local supermarket. Desert : Pre - bought frozen trifle that HAD NOT been defrosted … Asked to see manager who apologised & blamed issues in other restaurant downstairs’ …. Simply not good enough ! The owner eventually showed up as most of the people were leaving “hungry” I asked for refund & was told that refunds were NOT policy & that I could eat for free at a later date …. Seriously !!!! Why on earth would I ever want to eat at this place again … Finally : We paid £110 & had young children who wanted to see Santa as promised … NO SHOW ….!!! Thanks for spoiling our Christmas

Certainly lives up to its name Scruffy. It’s such a shame as this used to be one of the best bars in the village. Toilets are disgusting. They need a barrel of black mould remover. I was quite shocked at the lack of cleanliness. Bar is been tended by teens with no bar knowledge who really do not care.

Saw that it had changed its name and the menu looked good online so we thought we would give it a try. Friendly welcome on arrival and everyone who served us was friendly, especially Ruby. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced and we really liked the new decor. We will return when we are back in the area.

This was a pre booked mothers Day meal table for 9 for 12 o clock, and after going here last year, for the exact same special day, our expectations I'm not gonna lie were high. Unfortunately, we felt let down as the meal was poor at best. I personally was going to order a chicken parmo, but they had sold out ? It's very strange, but you roll with the punches, so I got a beef dinner . I hate to do this, but it was just not good. Beef was not nice, quite tough, and chewy. Veg was cold, and hardly any gravy we did order more gravy but overall very disappointed with experience . Burgers and chips are also not the best. Thus, it was not a cheap meal, so I must state how disappointed and let down we feel sorry would not recommend here. Staff were lovely shame about food as this was a family occasion organised by brother in law .

Staff extremely rude, get drinks orders wrong then try to charge me for drinks poured incorrectly while shouting. Poor drink selection and over priced for spirits
