Brilliant location, friendly staff albeit no early check-in. Fantastic breakfast and really comfortable bed. Not at all noisy even thought on a main road. All together great experience.

THERE WERE 4 TABLES OCCUPIED IN THE RESTUARANT... WE ARRIVED AT 1.30 AND LEFT AT 4.00 wasted our bank holiday! JUST DO NOT ENTER... It is so deceiving: from the outside with the benches it looks like a nice cottage BUT... as soon as you enter there are two rooms... you have to help yourself to a menu and a table. Then we ordered 4 meals WHICH DID NOT COME WITH FRIES OR CHIPS, then we waited 1hr 45mins for the food OMG, THEY FORGOT so they took anougther 30min until they finally arrived. It was grousome; no chicken wings which is the main reason I ordered food, apparently it was freshly home made IT WAS FROZON FOOD FROM THE SUPERMARKET... IT WAS... AND THERE ISN'T ANY BACK CHAT ABOUT IT BEING FRESH. It was BABY SIZE, YOU COULDNT GET SCAMMED THAT MUCH FOR SUCH A SMALL PORTION NO REFUNDS FOR ANY THING

We decided to stop here for late lunch whilst travelling through. We booked a table and glad we did as it was busy at 3pm on a Saturday. We ordered, the chilli nachos, fish, tuna baguette and the calamari. All delicious, generous portions and well priced. The wine was very good, and nice to see it not being over priced. Children had one scoop of ice cream and we shared a toffee crunch cheesecake. All very fresh and tasty. Staff were lovely and the owners welcoming. Will be back when next in the area.

Popped in on my lunch break with colleagues for a pint and bite to eat. £8.49 for fish and chips and a pint off the lunch menu was spot on and the food was great. Lesley couldn't do enough for us. Cheers!

Came in to have some coffee, been told to sit down and wait for someone to come take our order, been sat for 20 minutes without anyone taking coming over and decided to leave. There were 4 other tables in the cafe.

Food not good. The gammon was very thin and tough. The chips were full of dust. I couldn't eat one. Steak poor too. Some of the other meals were fine, but I won't be going back

Lovely pub full of character with a quirky, historical charm. Food was excellent especially the loaded chips. I would have given 5/5 for food but I paid £8+ for chicken goujons and received three which was really disappointing.

My first time trying coffee boy and the caramel cold coffee I ordered was just perfect definitely a place I’m going to stick to now

The rooms were smart and tidy and does surprise you if you looked from the front and the check-in area. They were modern looking. The only thing lacking was a small hair dryer 😊

A very friendly and welcoming pub. We called in, without booking, on Thursday lunch time , the pub was so busy but a table was found for us without any fuss. We did wonder about the wait for food considering everything is cooked fresh but need not to have worried. Menu is full of fish which the bar staff knew all about. My skate was excellent, my husband haddock and chips were cooked to perfection. The staff are great fun with a good knowledge of Harwich
