THERE WERE 4 TABLES OCCUPIED IN THE RESTUARANT... WE ARRIVED AT 1.30 AND LEFT AT 4.00 wasted our bank holiday! JUST DO NOT ENTER... It is so deceiving: from the outside with the benches it looks like a nice cottage BUT... as soon as you enter there are two rooms... you have to help yourself to a menu and a table. Then we ordered 4 meals WHICH DID NOT COME WITH FRIES OR CHIPS, then we waited 1hr 45mins for the food OMG, THEY FORGOT so they took anougther 30min until they finally arrived. It was grousome; no chicken wings which is the main reason I ordered food, apparently it was freshly home made IT WAS FROZON FOOD FROM THE SUPERMARKET... IT WAS... AND THERE ISN'T ANY BACK CHAT ABOUT IT BEING FRESH. It was BABY SIZE, YOU COULDNT GET SCAMMED THAT MUCH FOR SUCH A SMALL PORTION NO REFUNDS FOR ANY THING

Pub itself is lovely, often visit on sunny days in Stourport. Only issue today was poor young lad being bullied by his colleague on the bar. Felt very awkward and in hindsight wish I'd spoke up for him.

Great, friendly local pub. Right on the river. Clean, good value accommodation too. Wish every success to the landlord. Will be back soon.

Lovely pub,good beer if a little exspensive but very nice to sit outside in the summer. Edit...dropped my rating as went back the weekend as wanted a coffee...paid 3.50 and got awful coffee in a paper cup...asked the manager that for the price could I at least have it in a mug or cup...he gave us cups to pour it into but had literally less than 1/2 a cup of coffee served...happy to pay premium for coffee but expect premium quality and service...definitely room for improvement.big mark up on coffee so no need to be tight

Today we were in Stourport so thought it would be lovely to sit by the river and have lunch, really wished we hadn’t bothered. We had cheese burger which says steak burger on menu really don’t think it was, chips were oily and really crispy and over cooked. Terrible meal definitely give it a miss. What a waste of £33 .

£9.50 for practically a children’s meal, with a sprinkle of lettuce and a rogue tiny bit of onion ring that wasn’t supposed to be part of my meal. Granted there were 3 goujons, I had ate one before I took a picture of the meal. Goujons were nice, however not homemade so could have cooked this exact meal, with a proper portion size at home for 20p from Farmfoods. This meal was worth £5.50-6 at best. I did query whether my food had been mixed up with someone else’s as this very much appeared as a children’s portion, but chef told waiter this is the standard of meal for £9.50. Will absolutely not return unless prices are altered.

Living in Devon but visiting a friend living on a narrow-boat moored nearby, I called in at the Angel for a chat with my friend and was delighted to see "Old Rosie" cider on sale, my favourite. We returned in the evening for a meal, having the ribs, which were superb! And another drop of Old Rosie. The two male members of staff I encountered, I think a barman in the afternoon and the landlord in the evening, were very friendly and welcoming. Thanks to them for that. I will definitely call again if back in the area.

Well what can I say. I love steaks and the way Bob and Shan delivered it I can ask no more. It comes on a hot plate so you can cook it to your own taste. You won’t beat it anywhere. As for the pub, it is a typical local with a fantastic host I will be back

Wow excellent food and service!!!! We booked the for the hot stone steaks they were beautiful melt in the mouth and really big sized. I would highly recommend that people try them. The landlord Bob and his partner Shan were wonderful hosts and the evening was really enjoyable. Locally brewed ales my husband loved and great company. Thank you we will definitely return and recommend.

We really enjoyed our overnight stay, with dinner. The affable landlord arrived less than a year ago, and made us feel most welcome. Rooms were warm, and fires were aglow in both bar and lounge. Everything was clean, nice quality and functional. This is not a run of the mill, corporate, you-could-be-anywhere stop; the building is older, with character. Great steaks, real ale and service. This was a winter visit, and we plan to stay again, maybe when there isn't snow on the ground.

Had steak on the stone tonight and was amazing! First tried this in Madeira some years back, and I think tonight it was much better! a great experience. Great beer, and wonderful friendly staff!! We'll be back!!

Riverside views are great, service was good but poor food range and what they did have wasn't the best

Great peaceful place by the river

Spent a night here with a friend for a local event this summer. On our arrival we were immediately at ease by the warm welcome of the new manager. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was lovely and staff friendly. We were sad that there was no breakfast available but everything else was good. The best part about the pub was the new tenants. A husband and wife team with a beautiful dog called Beau. They really looked after us throughout.

We go to The Angel all of the time but I must say that Bob and his team did a brilliant job on the day of the carnival. They put in so much effort to make sure everyone had a good time. Well done to them all

Very much surprised by this place. It’s got an amazing location right by the river, with a great beer garden( not sure why they need to play music here though. The beer was in really good condition and if you visit on a Tuesday all cask ales are only £2.70- a bargain as they’re £4.50 at other times. Lots of good indoor spaces too. It feels a bit touristy but it’s better than that.

I only had a drink with a friend, so I can't comment on the food. However, the lady who served us was friendly, and the attitude was lovely. We sat in the sun outside, watching the river and birdlife as we had a catch-up

Smashing pint of Guinness on a hot sunny day sat outside by the river. What more can I say

I'm willing to pay a premium price for good Pub Grub. But on my visit to the Angel today I felt the food was very overpriced and low quality. A pork sausage hotdog.… £7.50. It was a simple Aldi-style bread roll with a Frankfurt-style sausage... Dried sprinkle onions with no attention to detail. Unfortunately, the chips were no better. Tops 15 chips for £3.50 I know profit is important but quality is also a must. Nothing easier to knock out than a quality bread roll and a premium sausage with maybe a few caramelised onions. I will visit again for a beer, but I will eat somewhere else.

Beautiful place to enjoy a drink in the sunshine and while away a few hours by the river.

An impatient employee was incredibly rude when they couldn’t pass me through the corridor because my toddler was walking in front. Just wow. 🤩

Nice relaxed atmosphere a few years back but the new owner aug 2024 not a nice person ,moves people's motor bikes without consent, not good public relations nor is he biker friendly or fishing friendly , it has been a good pub the angel understanding locals and tourists alike acomaditing for all of us you know the general public, but my experience this morning with current manager was shocking so i emulated his behaviour and he ran inside , you wont move mine or anyone elses bike again 🤬

Lovely little pub just up from Stourport main entertainment area along the River, nice little walk up passed the locks, decent amount of outdoor seating, good range of beers and ciders. Great for a few drinks in the sun 🌞 Great little suntrap where it's located. Didn't have any food but looking at it as it came passed looked good.

It's a beautiful spot, alongside the river Severn.

Spent the weekend at the angel fantastic staff, room comfortable we were made very welcome . Will be going there again .x

Stopped overnight in this lovely place. The food was amazing. The management and staff were fabulous. Rooms tidy and clean with views of the river. Highly recommend

Great service, fantastic atmosphere food looked good but didn't eat there although prices looked very reasonable.

Good location overlooking the River. Friendly greeting from owners, who have only had The Angel for just over a month. Needs some TLC and a makeover. Our room overlooked the river and exterior tables. No food available other than bread cobs. N9 restaurant, no meals. Room ok, needs updating. Clean and tidy. No housekeeping service whilst we were there, at least the bathroom should have been cleaned as well as replacing tea, coffee etc. Not suitable for guests with disabilities as stai4s narrow and steep, as it is an old building.

Visited and stayed over last night. The new hosts Bob and shan. who only took over within the last week are welcoming and accommodating. The pub is friendly and in a gorgeous position by the river The room we stayed in overlooked the river. It was clean and roomy. Bed was comfortable . Shower is plenty big enough and hot. Tea and coffee was provided. Definitely stay again.

We popped in to the Angel for a drink when on a dog walk in Stourport, we got a very friendly reception, the beer was top notch and the food was very reasonably priced.

No food on a Sunday afternoon, miserable bar staff. Had one drink outside and left.

Extremely disappointed and annoyed, I telephoned the Angel speaking to the Lady manager to book an overnight stay B&B for the 18th April 24 on 4th of April. I was told to book via Booking.com which I did. I had a confirmation email from booking .com stating that my request to check between 3 & 4 was accepted. My booking no. 4940240619 & pin 2065. On arrival was told that the hotel was not "selling B&B rooms" and I could not stay. The young girl behind the bar was unhelpful and would only say " ring Booking.com " !!!! I strongly advise anyone thinking of, or have booked a room with this establishment to seek alternatives. Having driven 3 hrs to be told that the Hotel does not offer rooms is disgraceful and Marstons need to take immediate action as this will blight their name too. I will be contacting Marstons for comment. Steve Hubble

Arrived to check in for a 2 night stay to be told no booking and no rooms available despite us having confirmation. Girl behind the bar rude, unfriendly. The girl called the manager on her mobile and handed us the phone and the manager said no booking and no rooms. No apologies nothing

Arrived here 2 stop for 2 nights. Spoke to the lady behind the bar who knew nothing about the booking, she called the manager on her mobile and passed the phone over for us to speak to her only to be told no we don’t have a booking despite us showing our confirmation to the girl behind the bar. No apologies offered absolutely nothing they just blamed it on booking.com

Ok, but not great like it should be

Do not book a room to stay at this place, you will arrive and be told they don't have your booking, the manager wouldn't even speak to me face to face, used the bar maids mobile, didn't just happen to us that day, another couple arrived after us and were told the same, disgusting service

Lovely spot facing the River Severn. Ideal for a couple of good ales in the beer garden while on a walk.

I'll start with the positives, what a fabulous location! Lovely riverside spot with a free residents carpark which is a huge bonus. Very warm welcome, especially from the 2 gorgeous dogs! Although single beds in the room they were very comfortable and loved being able to have a soak in the full sized tub 😃 Unfortunately the negatives... No tea/coffee making facilities in the room and not even a glass to get some water from the tap! Only mirror was in the bathroom which made it quite tricky for 2 people to get ready, especially trying to use a hair dryer and straighteners! Nail sticking up in bathroom floor (also read this on a previous review on another site), very nearly cut foot open! Also quite noisy outside the room overnight due to some sort of machine/generator.

Great traditional pub by the river, loved the old feel about it, friendly bar service, reasonably priced, will visit again.

Slobetta and 2 dogs rule the place. A bit smelly. Don't go by closing times, if it's quiet they shut at 6 or 7pm

A really lovely traditional inn with a modern feel. Very well presented, the decor is sympathetic to the age of the building. A good range of bar snacks and drinks on offer and a decent food menu. We opted for the beef stew with a buttered roll and we were so glad that we did. The food was hot, delicious, perfectly seasoned and very welcoming on a breezy February afternoon. We liked that it's dog friendly here, and we will definitely be coming back.

Called in dinner time. Just long opened. Rated the food only 3 as it was out of season , but a good cob and pork pie. Light bite. Service great, only, ones in there, atmosphere, as there was no one in there apart from two loverly dogs, and I think the owner it felt good, music was our taste tv on mute in the back ground. But there was something about the place I liked. Very clean , Will definitely go back there .

Avoid this place. Yesterday my elderly mom and her partner, both in late 70's turned up to stay here after travelling a long way. Booked 3 months ago and received final confirmation on Thursday from booking.com. on arrival yesterday at 2pm were told their booking had been cancelled and the hotel was fully booked. Leaving 2 elderly people (one of whom recently suffered a bad stroke) with nowhere to stay. They were both really stressed and were left driving around to find somewhere else to stay. Avoid this place. To do this to 2 elderly people is disgusting. Shame on you Angel Inn

Stayed overnight for a next day work commitment. I can't review food/menu as I didn't eat here, but the room/accommodation was outstanding. Lovely and clean, beautiful characteristic room. So cosy! Piping hot water (not always available in some places) plenty of plug sockets. I really didn't want to leave!! Host was friendly and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again. I really can find no fault at all! All round great stay!

We only popped in, but we will return as the homely welcome was very genuine.

Small cosy inside pub Sunday lunch was way above expectations Beef excellent vegetables selection fresh and cooked well Roasted potatoes well cooked And a gravy boat And the plates were hot ! Give this a go. In the winter Great experience

Lovely 2 night stay at the Angel Inn. We had a wedding at curradine barns and this pub was a lovely stay for us only 15 min taxi to venue. 2 lovely labs 🐶 to greet on arrival. Rooms very clean and tidy. Staff was lovely to us on arrival. Thank you.

Fab Riverside pub, great food choices. Reasonable prices. Sitting outside watching the river flow past, occasional boats of many varieties. Very friendly staff, order inside and your food is delivered to your table. Small car park.

Awful rude lady behind the bar. Didn’t want customers as it was too hot. Very rude. Great spot but terrible staff. Don’t bother.

Nice little pub worth a visit for the view of the river

Called in here Saturday 2nd Sep, what a shame for this lovely little pub we have used for years! The new managers have dragged it down! Dirty, expensive cheap food, the one bar had A BROKEN CARD READER SO CASH ONLY!! sure the tax man would want to check it out! The landlady was stood behind the bar having a crafty vap also, sure thats not aload! And for the toilets, no soap and hand drier was dead, lets hope no Covid spread that day. The Brewery need to go inspect the pub before the health inspector arrives, there were quite a few people outside complaining too. A lovely country pub that needs cleaning up before they drive all their customers away.😡😡😡😡

Beautiful setting along the river. Its a shame the food doesn't live up to the surroundings. Ordered fish n chips. I wasn't expecting it to be a battered frozen fish from birdseye which was popped into a fryer. Very disappointed!! No interaction from any staff not even a curtesy"How is your food" At least the 2 dogs were interested in what we were eating as they sat and starred at us whilst we ate, the one even put its head on my lap begging for food. Maybe we arrived on the wrong day but I will definitely not be returning.

What a lovely pub down by the River Severn. Had such a nice afternoon - lunch in the pretty secret garden at The Windlass Cafe just around the corner (great food) finished off with a couple of ciders sat o/s The Angel in the evening sunshine. Bliss!

Great dog friendly Riverside pub

Shocking, was recommend by a local for food and riverside dining. I do not expect to enter and be greeted by numerous large dogs of lead walking between tables and no effort of control from owners. Manager should be sacked for allowing this to happen. I am talking several dogs. Walked straight out disgusted.

Lovely setting for this unwelcoming pub. Got to the Angel pub around d 12.30 Sunday 30th July. We bought two drinks to start, with the intention of having a roast dinner. A couple before me in the queue were spoken to by I assume the manager/owner in a very rude way. Needless to say they didn’t stay. We asked if there were tables available to eat after we’d had a drink the pub manager/owner said it wasn’t too busy and it wouldn’t be a problem. We had another drink before eating. We then asked the young girl working the bar if we could eat indoors as it started to rain, she replied no because we hadn’t reserved a table. We then asked could we have a table when one becomes available she asked the Chef who replied no because there’s not enough food left for us. Feeling confused we bought another drink to shelter from the rain when a family of six came in and asked if they could have a table ( they hadn’t reserved ) to which to chef replied yes. How very disappointing and unfriendly we found this place. However in being treated this way and being told there’s no food we made our way to the Old Beams pub and was greeted in a warm and friendly manner and served a hearty Sunday lunch.

We didn't have food as the kitchen was not open, which was a same , But pub was lovely clean and staff where nice, And it is dog 🐕 friendly .

Returned to stay at the angel as we stayed here last year for a night and decided to return for 2 nights this year! The room was clean tidy nice views of the river as always! That’s if you get a front facing room!!!!!! Booked in at 2 room was ready - was disappointed that the kitchen was closed but understandable with staff shortages in hospitality lately so ate in the town! The only negative is the shower was quite old but room looked like it had been recently renovated - with a new addition of a fridge which was great! Will be back next year for an annual stourport break! Bargain for £70 a night with a river view - noticed that some of the previous reviews mentioned lack of customer service and lack of staff on booking out! This is not a hotel - if you want someone to book you out may I suggest you book a hotel - not a local pub that has a couple of rooms they let out - as we did the year before just leave your key and go - we love it here! Nice and chilled pub with friendly locals and 2 beautiful Labradors! What else do you need! A pint and a bag of scratchings!

We only stopped for a pint. It's a lovely old pub in a superb location. Easy walkingto Stourport locks. Good walks along the Severn Way.

Took the wife here for a few drinks and ended up staying all evening. We really had a great night and laughed so much. We will be back.

I stayed there weekend Good beer . Good food .reasonable rates. .bedrooms are quite comfortable..I passed by today with my grandchildren. I will pop in and stay again..looks inviting as it always is
