The Little Pack Horse in Wyre Forest

Outside the door for 12.00 but door closed.Soon after a lad turned up that must work there but he couldn’t get in either.He phoned someone who was coming to open the door but no food would be available until 2pm.No option but to take our custom elsewhere.We normally enjoy a bottle of wine along with our lunchtime meal.With so much competition in Bewdley if the Pack Horse doesn’t get its act together it will not be here long.

Under new management, absolute failure, ales not working on top and food took well over an hour and was massively over cooked. Such a shame was absolutely great and now an absolute shambles

After having to wait over 1.30 hours in the cold of a dorr that's never closer we were given the food we ordered on arrival, yes it looked good (especially the burgers) the pie sat on its own on plate with gravy nothing else which is unlike what the menu outside the door suggests saying comes with mash and peas we paid for in advance so therefore were not aware of this (it was £11.75) .aswell as this there was no sparkling water or lemons

Despite walking past here many times on our walks around the Ribbesford Trail we never got round to popping in for a meal, until my partners birthday. I checked the menu for a few vegetarian options and then booked a table. We arrived for our 6.00pm booking and were seated out the back. We ordered a couple of drinks and as hunger was kicking in we had a sharing nachos to start which were great and smothered in all the good stuff. We then decided on a pie each I had a delicious Moo and Blue and my vegetarian partner had a Heidi which she really enjoyed, both came with Veg, Mash and gravy. Despite being pretty full after that we thought it would be rude to not try their desserts so had a Lemon Cheesecake to share, wonderful. A great birthday meal in old style pub surroundings, the bill came to £55.00 which isnt bad for a nice evening meal.

It’s been a few years since I visited the famous Pack Horse in Bewdley. As the current owner of Mad O’Rourkes Pie Factory it was going back in time. I’ve been associated with Little Pub Company for over 30 years and let me assure everyone Colm and Sheena would be over the moon with the quality/ cleanliness and fantastic friendly service. And if I lived nearby this would be a fantastic pub to be a regular at, so thanks for giving me great memories of times gone by. Hope things go well for such a fantastic family run pub. Just for the aficionados of Little Pub Company. This is where it all started, this is where Colm & Sheena started there little empire

We book a table for 8.30pm for 2 people. They could not find us on their booking list as they seemed not organised. They told us to go to table 9 but there was no table 9. It took 15-20 minutes for the girl to come to us and take the order Eventually she came and took the order and what we ordered it was available...25 minutes later she come and she told us that one of the pies was not available, at this time it was 9.30pm so we decided to leave. We will never go back at least until they change the management. It used to be one of the best places to eat in Bewdley but now is a total disastrous and the service we had was not good We will not come back...

Food was amazing and so was service 10/10 steak was the best I have had round this area staff were friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much hassle

Really dissapointed, Booked in for Sunday lunch, with the family. Prawn cocktail was swimming in sauce , and made it difficult to find the prawns, salad was limp. The Sunday lunch advertises 'home made stuffing, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding' - I do a fair amount of cooking myself, these were cheap frozen at best, the vegetables although in abundance, were overcooked, the meat was 1 thin slice of beef, and 1 thin slice of pork loin, beef was dry, pork was fatty. The gravy however was nice. No dessert for me , no dessert for me, but the rest of the party said this was the highlight. Not much atmosphere, and can't complain over the drinks. Such a shame had high hopes.

Fantastic food-my husband and I had the best pies we have ever tasted.Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere,would definitely come here again.

Visited the Pack horse for Sunday roast. Great little pub that I've visited on a number of occasions but never for food. Superb Sunday roast with generous portions. 3 meats available. Beef and pork were lovely. Staff are super friendly also...Dog friendly in the bar, which is also a bonus. Definitely will return....

Lovely cozy atmosphere, little pub with massive character. Sunday roasts are consistently good, we have been a few times and it never fails to hit the spot. Selection of pork, beef and gammon. Plenty of sauce options and meat gravy to die for.

Burgers were good with quality ingredients, but putting cheap mayonnaise into Herman's mayonnaise bottles and watery tasteless tomato sauce into Heinz bottles lets the place down. Service excellent.

Didn't have food but definitely going back

Arguably the best pub in town with great beer choices - recommend a pint of the local Sway which is a banger. The old interior is beautiful and makes for a great atmosphere. Proper Bewdley institution!

Service was excellent, food and drink great. BUT - food with gravy on a board - really! You let yourselves down.

A beautiful little place in a pretty side road. The place itself is full of character and it definitely has charm appeal. It's so small inside which is part of the charm and I could imagine it would be ok for a quick drink. The place lacks atmosphere when it's quiet. The food was a real let down after reading reviews. Nothing better than pub chain food. Maybe caught them on a bad night. Really disappointed in the food so we wouldn't return or recommend for now. No parking on site however there was parking in easy walking distance.

Went for Sunday lunch this week 16th March. Very enjoyable lunch lovely hot food great selection of veg . Good portion. GVFM. Staff very friendly couldn't fault it. Will be going again.

Visited on 25th February, mid Sunday afternoon as one of a party of 4. There's a lovely cosy ambience to this smashing pub and this was especially welcome on a raw February day. Lovely staff behind the bar and the guy who took our food order deserves a medal for surviving the confusion that we unintentionally threw at him! We all had starters; prawn cocktail, soup of the day and pate. All of them great. 4 roasts followed. Good portions of meat and plenty of vegetables, always a plus point. The table service was on point too, with polite and cheerful staff. There is a good selection of ales. I'd recommend this pub as a great place for good food, well prepared and presented.

It's a beautiful historical pub and we've eaten here for the first time under, once again, new management. The service is friendly, the place was busy, which is good and we enjoyed our food. It's the usual pub foods, burgers and pies, but it's good quality and it tasted nice, well presented. It's what you would expect in a traditional place like this one. Very homely atmosphere - shame they didn't put the fire on.

I haven't been here in years, but it didn't disappoint. The food was beautifully cooked, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. We'll be back!

This pub is a little off the beaten track but well worth the effort. My friend and I were lucky to get a table before Christmas without a reservation. The real ale was decent, and my pirate pie was humongous — and very tasty! Lovely morsels of beef, veg and gravy left me feeling stuffed. My friend had one of the smaller pies which he enjoyed as well. Good job.

Really nice pub, food and staff - the only issue we had was the pub front door which if not closed creates a huge draft - maybe installing a self closing latch would be good!

When I booked a table for our Christmas meal in October I was told the Christmas menu had not yet been decided but there would be one. I heard nothing until the week before when someone from the pub rang to confirm our booking. They said that there would be no Christmas menu because we had not pre-ordered or paid a deposit but there would be options like duck a l’orange and rack of lamb. When we arrived the menu consisted of bought in Pie-Minster pies, hunters chicken and scampi and their homemade Pirate pies, which were supposed to be a take on the old Desperate Dan pies of old. 3 ordered the Pie-minster pies, which were nice. 2 of us ordered the Pirate pies which were supposed to be a meat and vegetable stew with pastry top. I don’t know how they did it but when they arrived they were scalding hot yet the chantenay carrots were raw or barely cooked. What little meat there was was tough as old boots. You even had to order chips as a side dish! How they had the nerve to charge £16.95 for that meal beggars belief. We used to go to the Little Pack Horse regularly before covid when the food used to be really good quality. If they don’t improve quickly they are doomed.

Great meal on 241 pie night, this included a choice of two different vegan pies, which was awesome. Friendly professional bar staff, great to see this great little pub in such good hands.

Lovely little pub. We turned up without a reservation (silly us) barman was really friendly and found us a table. Choice between pie menu or main menu, both looked great. We chose 2 different pies. Choice of sides. Meals were really delicious. Couldn’t fault them. When we came to pay he said that it was 2 for 1 on pies, this wasn’t advertised and so was a lovely surprise. Would definitely visit again.

Were invited by friends to visit and sample this local Gem. Warmly welcomed by 2 wonderful girls who could not do enough to make our visit enjoyable. Wonderful food, drink and hospitality. I even got a Shamrock on my Guinness!!! Great night and Highly recommend

Haven’t been to this pub for many years. We have friends over from Ireland and had seen the pub advertised a few times so decided to give it a try. So very glad we did. Had the warmest of welcomes from the two lovely ladies serving at the bar who were great fun. The food was absolutely superb, quickly delivered, hot, plentiful and delicious. Will be back again very soon. Our friends were also very impressed.

Came in as we were passing, lovely atmosphere, pleasant staff, and so much history here! Food was phenomenal, arrived quickly and piping hot, the ‘Angry Pirate’ pie was easily enough for 2 people and the kids were over the Moo(n) with their pies! Props to the team, cannot recommend this place enough, will be a regular spot for us for sure!

Nice ambiance for a quiet drink....didn't eat but food looked very nice Update to this as we had a lovely anniversary meal at The Pack Horse on Saturday evening (11th nov 23) . My wife had the Beef Bourginon and I had the chicken, ham and leek pie, both were tasty and very well cooked and portion sizes were just about right and allowed us enough room to share a delicious sticky toffee pudding. More than happy to recommend for a nice meal at good prices.

A Saturday evening out with friends what a disaster. No Prosecco, no wine list, limited choice of wine. Wine and glasses served in cooler with water and ice. A number of meal choices unavailable. We all ordered pies. It took 50 minutes for the food to be served, furthermore 10 minutes before service we were told one of the pies were unavailable. When it came only one of the pies was correct but it was cold alongside another cold incorrect pie, the vegetarian received the steak pie. The chef came out at the request of the waitress and explained all the pies looked the same so it’s hard to know which one is which.???? The owner/manager didn’t take any responsibility for the service. How could any establishment get it so wrong!!!

Had a Sunday lunch at the little pack horse and it was nice. The pub is a beautiful old pub carefully preserved by the people who work there. They won hard to provide a friendly service and make themselves as welcoming as you would expect from a beautiful place.

Our experience in this beautiful, Olde Worlde pub restaurant in Bewdley, was thankfully saved by the wonderful staff, Beckie, Adam and Jordan. GIO, the so-called chef, undermined our otherwise pleasant experience, with his, unilateral declaration that the kitchen was closed …at 8:30pm….on a Saturday night....

Great meal, very polite and welcoming staff. Be back for another roast dinner.👍👏

Sunday lunch, was terrible, garlic mushrooms, deep fried breaded mushrooms swimming in oil with bottle garlic paste just over the top,the vegetables were cold and black in cauliflower and potatoes, carrots.the serves was slow and cold. we didn't eat the meal and left, went to...

Terrible service and food was undercooked and meat was still cold. The server and staff are extremely rude. Food was terrible. I wouldn’t have served it to my pets. I went out for a family members birthday. Worst experience ever. Should’ve just cooked at home.

Interesting small pub with lots of character.

(Previous review was 5 stars. This is an update) The food was so sad... uncooked chicken was a monstrosity. The chips were so pale... ordered items were missing, the waiter had to ask 5 times what was on the menu exactly to the kitchen... the battered cod was a sole fish. The new version of this pub after it re-opened is the negation of catering and hospitality.

On holiday in Bewdley again 2nd Sept for a week. Always visit this gorgeous little quirky, tavern. Nice ales Didnt get to try the homemade pies but looked delish.

Great selection of pies (other food available) in an authentic olde worlde pub. The prices were reasonable and the gravy spectacular. The staff were exceptional, efficient and friendly.

Lunchtime roasts for five, absolutely “spot on”. It was reasonably priced, as were the desserts which we couldn’t fit in. We will definitely be coming again.

Very poor for the price, not skin on fries as advertised, frozen bitty chips, salad, 1 piece of cucumber, I 1/4 of tomatoe and lettuce and red onion, chicken was obviously frozen breaded processed with a simple tomato sauce over.. for £15 very, very poor...

Hidden gem of a pub well worth a visit

If you have found it its actualy a nice pub, not in a place in bewdley most visitors go as theres not much down the road other than houses to see.But if your looking for a nice atmosphere and its actualy open you will enjoy .had a few owners over the years each time I go its closed or nobody in there .but you may be lucky I can't imagine you would need to book a table if your starting in bewdley for a night or weekend give it a try .

When we popped into this authentic little pub we really weren't expecting the range and quality of the food that was on offer. The chef was very professional, the food was exquisite so was the wine recommended by the chef. All the staff were pleasant...

We visited the pack horse on Friday evening for the first time since it had been taken over. Lovely cozy place, friendly staff and food was excellent! Will definitely be back.

Have driven past many times over the years, but this was the first occasion we had been walking around Bewdley and were able to drop in. Only a brief visit, but will certainly now make the effort to get there again.
