I ordered a mushroom, cheese toastie. After 20 minutes it still hadn't arrived. I went to ask if I was going to receive it. The waitress went off and coyly said sorry. After another 15 minutes I assume the cook brought it. She said sorry after a prompt and after another prompt explained it was a communication problem between service and kitchen. The food was fine. My issue was I would have expected at least someone to come over and offer me maybe a free drink or at least come and check everything was okay as a minimum.It's not as though it was busy I'm sorry to say there was no communication whatsoever. If the manager is reading this, I'm sorry to say you need to train your staff in some basic customer service, unless it was an off day

I visit the chippy at least twice a week. The fish and chips a fantastic well worth the 18 miles round trip. It's cooked to perfection and a pleasure to eat. It's the best fish and chips I've found in cumbria.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but don't let that fool you, it's awesome. Great range of food, well cooked, presented and served, priced perfectly and you don't need a mortgage for a couple of soft drinks. But, the two things that make it really stand out out are that pretty much all year round, despite this place having a lot of seating indoors and out, you have to book at the weekends. But my favourite is, on one of our visits two members of staff were being a little grumpy with each other. However, the moment they faced up to customers, big smiles all round. Very professional, a real treat.

Okish icecream, not the best but not the worst but tiny scoops! I was enjoying a nice day at the harbour then got greeted by the most miserable lady serving (prob aged late 40s if the owners are reading this....if you are the owner then wow....) you must only survive because passing trade don't go on trip advisor. The way you barked at the lady in front of me who was enquiring about GF products. Won't return, will head somewhere friendlier next time...

great fish and chips shop .i got rock which could not always get ,cook fresh ,chips great best fish and chips we had for a long time staff really friendly as well ,if on holiday go their great service x

Cold food served on cold plates.. not good especially when it is fish. It was sent back to the kitchen and came back the same. Not good. Refused to pay for it. Peas, well I think they were peas, in a small pot and had been, I think, microwaved so they looked like chaff and were all crumbly. The fish seemed to have been precooked and then warmed up - big mistake with fish. The chips, well, just cold. It was all served on a very cold plate. Think chef needs retraining... How on earth did they get the fancy star rating?

We ordered panini for lunch and they were freshly cooked and very tasty. We also had lovely home baked cake with a pot of tea which was also delicious. Would go back.

No beer on draught, no food available. The only drink on tap was from yorkshire water. Don't know how the landlord makes a living, rumour is he has funds hidden in a barrel of Wensleydale Gold.

We ordered steak pie,which was delivered pipping hot. Tender and fresh. Portion size was more than expected. Great choice
