The Restaurant @ Centurion in Bath and North East Somerset

Cold food served on cold plates.. not good especially when it is fish. It was sent back to the kitchen and came back the same. Not good. Refused to pay for it. Peas, well I think they were peas, in a small pot and had been, I think, microwaved so they looked like chaff and were all crumbly. The fish seemed to have been precooked and then warmed up - big mistake with fish. The chips, well, just cold. It was all served on a very cold plate. Think chef needs retraining... How on earth did they get the fancy star rating?

They sat us in a freezing conservatory even though the cosy part was empty. The food was awful, burnt pizza couldn’t cut and the gammon was extremely salty and average at best. The waitress saw us twice taking our order then giving it to us with little to no conversation then a 10% service charge for the bare minimum was paid. Rubbish and disappointing, never again.

Five of us had a selection of very tasty baguettes - good choice of fillings and they come with chips. Nice big portion sizes. Good service. Fair pricing.

We had breakfast and dinner in this restaurant for 3 days and found the service and food very good. The staff were friendly & polite and it was a pleasure to be in their company. The tables and chairs were good quality and chairs very comfortable. Overlooking the golf course the whole experience was very pleasurable in such nice surroundings. The best gammon steak I have ever tasted which I enjoyed two days running.

Our generous sized meals arrived quickly ( after delicious bread to nibble on) The food was hot, came with ample gravy and veg on the side. Serving staff were polite and attentive.

We had our annual January 'Christmas' meal here on Saturday evening - 23 of us in total. We preordered our food and, as ever, it was superb. The quality of the food here never disappoints which is why we come back year after year. The staff are incredible - attentive and friendly and very efficient. The organisation of the evening meant everything went like clockwork. Thanks - and see you again next year!

It's not the cheapest place around the area, but neither is it the most expensive. It offers a real restaurant experience and not a posh bar feel. The tables are well spaced and even big parties did not interfere with out quiet evening. The food was exceptional and the service was excellent

Always pre book here as it can get busy on Sunday. We had the roast sirloin of beef which was melt in the mouth, and the shoulder of pork, again tender and tasty, the crackling was excellently crunchy and tasty, you also get roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding, the vegetable accompaniment with cauliflower cheese , also a tray of roast carrots and beetroot and butternut squash, far too much for us but really good. There is also a tray with extra gravy, apple sauce, horseradish sauce and mustard, everything you would need. Kirsty, Louise and the rest of the team in the dining room were friendly and professional as usual. There is also a good selection of reasonably priced wines. Would highly recommend the Centurion Restaurant.

Family Sunday Lunch - how disappointing. Food cooked way in advance and then warmed up to serve. Vegetables and potatoes were dry and Luke warm! Very limited menu so a Sunday roast shouldn’t be a problem to any cook! Very basic desserts menu. Only one of our party had dessert - Crumble - poor and again barely warm. Not worth half the price paid for this meal out - oh and the 10% service charge - polite staff but cheeky charge!

We used to visit here a lot but it’s priced itself out of the regular diner limit I feel, a shame as it’s on our doorstep.

Staff very friendly but afraid lunch was poor. Poor choice of veg (who has beetroot with Sunday roast?). I had pork which was tough. Roast potatoes bland and gravy weak. Left feeling very disappointed and hungry. Never again.

Visited today for Sunday lunch and to mark our wedding anniversary. Had already had an exceptional visit last year and we were pleased to find nothing has changed. Excellent, well presented food and friendly, efficient service in a pleasant environment overlooking the golf course. Very good value too. Worthy of 5 stars and comparable to some top rated London restaurants, if not better. We look forward to returning again as soon as we can.

Well managed and friendly restaurant. Good service - Maybe some lack of attention during the dinner... Glasses have been empty but due to our seating location no one was looking regulary if we are ok with drinks or other needs.

There was and extensive food menu and a good choice of beverages. The quality of the food was excellent and it was well presented. The staff were charming and added to the overall positive experience.

After recommending the hotel to a guest I had coming over from Egypt I was disappointed that he found so many flies buzzing around in the restaurant which he didn't appreciate. He was unable to eat there a second night for that reason. Is it that difficult to eliminate them?

Nice food, lovely surroundings, don't expect a good glass of ale though! Shame, because they seem to know but choose not to try to do anything about it.

Interesting menu with top quality meat, cooked to perfection and presented really well. The steaks are of very best quality I have eaten in the UK.

Could not fault the quality of food. It was excellent. It was not a fancy extensive menu but a decent choice. The starter I chose was a crab and lobster risotto followed by a lamb rump with dauphinois potatoes and seasonal veg. It was cooked to perfection. I was very impressed with the presentation and service. Attentive but not over done. Would definitely eat there again

My fish was perfectly cooked and absolutely stunning. Could’ve maybe done with a little butter or jus for the vegetables, but other than that was lovely. The bread was also fantastic. Good service. Unexpectedly good.

Visited with a large group of friends last night and was very well looked after. The food was exceptional, the service was a perfect blend of friendliness and professionalism, especially the restaurant manager and the waitress Louise.

The food is very nice, out of Italian restaurants of this area and more elaborated as usual. But the price is higher as the quality.

Lovely restaurant serving excellent quality food. Plenty of choice. There is a Bar and Restaurant Menu which is very reasonably priced.

Visited for breakfast as friends were staying at the hotel. It was a very good breakfast for £15! Fruit, juice, cereals, pastries, toast, full English & other cooked combos on the menu. Attentive service..we will be back!

This was our first visit to The Restaurant, having recently moved to the area. We booked to have lunch here on Sun 21st Jan and were completely blown away by the excellent food and very friendly, efficient service from the waitresses.

My husband and I booked last minute and were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the service was welcoming and friendly. We both chose chicken for our mains and it was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully with 8 different vegetables!

Great selection of food and the prices are decent for the area. Prices are clear and just in pounds which is nice. Staff are very helpful and friendly.

La comida superó todas las expectativas. Muy impresionado y con ganas de volver el próximo año. Me alojé por dos noches, y el servicio era tan bueno como la comida.

Food was outstanding, quality of the ingredients is obvious, the skill and care the chefs take with presentation and in providing a delicious menu everyone loved, 2 rosette standard is well deserved, I would highly recommend trying this restaurant and the service is first class too.

Acabamos de alojarnos en el hotel por 3 días. El menú es pobre y no para todo el mundo. Incluso mi marido, que comemos de todo, normalmente, me pareció difícil de encontrar algo que le gustaba. No somos los únicos que pensamos lo mismo. Vimos a otra 3 parejas que también estaban alojados en el hotel en los pubs locales como nosotros en las tres noches. Es una pena realmente porque hemos comido en el hotel si nos podría haber encontrado algo que nos gustaba.

Tuvimos nuestra cena de empresa de Navidad aquí (en enero, es bueno tener algo en la agenda tras la fiebre loco de Navidad! ) el sábado. Había 15 de nosotros, así que pedimos con antelación.

We ate here in July 2016. With members discount 2 steaks and a bottle of wine were good value for money. Pleasant restaurant overlooking the golf course. Service friendly and pleasant

Food - The menu is small (don't know if thats just Sunday's).The food itself all tasted great, you could not fault it. The accompanying vegetables come out in 1 dish to be shared across the whole table but there was not enough for us all which was disappointing. The Yorkshire pudding is huge!Price - The cost is high in my opinion. It is around £13 for the main and £6 for a dessert. So I would suggest it for a special occasion or something.It was quiet during my visit, there was only 2 other tables occupied. We did not have to wait very long for our food.

Eggs Benedict & Eggs Royal were really good. Full English was generous and the buffet corner was well stocked. The FRESH orange juice was excellent.

Excellent choice especially for children when they have a different menu. Although children can have a traditional Sunday lunch if they prefer. Food was excellent quality and beautifully presented. The staff were very attentive, pleasant and efficient.Definitely recommend and will be returning. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely family lunch.

We had a lovely evening. Food and drink was all great and service was amazing. We sat in the bar after our meal and the staff were very friendly and helpful.Definitely recommend for lunch with friends. Top tip cookies are great from the bar!!

Food is nice yet expensive for what it is... The dishes were nicely presented and the menu, although it has some questionable items (no past dish, other than a tortelloni with seaweed - seaweed and pasta, really?), works well.

Wonderful food, well cooked and presented. The menu offered an excellent choice of food and although the prices were on the high side the quality and service were worth paying a little extra for.

Came in quite late on our first night. Had a steak which was well cooked and reasonably priced. some confusion on where you could sit with what menu. the breakfast was expensive in my opinion

Visited The Restaurant @ Centurion for a Birthday meal and was so pleased! I had the creedy carver duck and my partner had chicken. Everything about it was perfect. Our waiters were also friendly and welcoming. The location was also very nice and you get a lovely view of the golf course from the restaurant. Highly recommended! We will definitely be going back again.

Chose this restaurant because we needed disabled access and from that aspect it was very good. The staff were very welcoming and service was good throughout. The meal was pricey for the amount of meat on the plate. My husband had roast beef and commented that it would have been "fine for a vegetarian"! The vegetables were good as were the roasties. The dessert menu was a bit of a disappointment, not much choice and nothing "traditional". Overall 7/10

We enjoyed our Saturday Evening here and the food was well presented and the service was very good.Also the taste and choices of food was excellent in all courses .The table spacing was very comfortable providing privacy and comfort however the restaurateur was a little on the quiet side demarcating from the atmosphere very slightly. Generally a good choice with Good Food and Good service

We were visiting family in the area and they booked a table in the Restaurant for the 6 of us to have Sunday lunch. The Cornish crab starter although very tasty was in my opinion a little overpriced for the amount that was on the plate. My husband had the wild garlic soup, which he enjoyed. 5 of us had the Roast beef with lovely crispy roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. My husband had the Lamb, which unfortunately was rather rare and we weren't warned of this when ordering. He ate most of it but didn't really enjoy it. The cauliflower cheese and other vegetables that are served in seperate dishes were very nice indeed. The waiting staff were all very pleasant and very polite. Would we eat there again? Yes we would.

Delicious dinner in pleasant surroundings. However it was a little expensive for a family meal - ate there as we were staying in hotel. Staff were charming and good choice on menu.

Such a lovely place to eat, the starters are imaginative and well presented we tried four different ones; Mushroom Soup with crispy duck egg was a surprise with a lightly poached egg yolk adding to the lovely soup, Tuna Tartar with a hint to sushi and exceptional wasabi was so nice I nearly had it both evenings but then I would have missed out on the crab and leek tartlet. My husband chose the Smoked Chicken and artichoke which again was superb. Main courses of steak and duck were delicious and served just beautifully with a side order of roasted beets. Don't miss out on the Café Gourmand for a selection of their best mini deserts or the cheese board to try a choice of local cheeses. Excellent service, lovely surroundings. Thank you.

The new head chef has certainly made a difference. The food is still well cooked and beautifully presented. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive. The best thing is that there is now a "specials" menu at both lunch and dinner as well as the main menu and this gives much more choice and is wonderful if you stay for a few days.

The meal was served up it wasn't very hot to start with, the meat was undercooked very small slices, the vegetables were undercooked and hard, very little gravy served up on plate.No additional offered.Generally dissapointed if I had been paying for the meal I would have complained.I would say last years meal was excellent. This review is to bring to your notice.

We had dinner here while staying at the Hotel. It is very pleasant and the staff are lovely. Food was good, although there was only one vegetarian option. However, it was delicious - walnut and Gorgonzola pasta - so this was not a problem.

Excellent quality although slow service, my wife found a hair in her desert which put her off the rest of it, was refunded for the desert. Overall I would recommend despite the hair

We tried this Restaurant yesterday for Sunday Lunch-what a fantastic meal!!! The starters of Smoked Salmon and Chicken parfait were out of this world-and plenty of it! Our main course was beautifully cooked roast beef with a lovely selection of seasonal vegetables. The ambience of the conservatory on a lovely Autumn day completed our experience-we will be back!!!! Thanks to the waiting staff especially to Carly-such nice friendly staff and all in all a perfect experience.

Ate here whilst staying at the hotel one night. Food was much better than expected although not cheap. I had Thai crab linguine as a main which was packed with flavour. There were a few bits of shell however. For dessert I had the cafe gourmand dessert trio. The mango sorbet was too sweet for me but the lemon tart and chocolate mousse were delicious. The chef obviously knows what he is doing here. There is a slight mismatch between the young, seemingly inexperienced front of house staff and the rather stuffy, slightly pretensious atmosphere. A more relaxed, modern vibe is needed in my opinion.

We were staying at the Centurion Hotel and so the natural choice for the evening meal was the onsite restaurant. The menu at first glance might appear limited in options, but as someone once said better to do a few things really well than everything badly. The conservatory area, where we sat, has lovely views of the golf course and the service was discrete, polite and excellent. The first night we skipped starters and went direct for the sirloin steak, an excellent choice and the presentation was superb, a tender lean steak with a suitably adequate serving of sauce and a rather generous serving of chips. The second night we chose smaller steaks and took the chance to try starters and desert. The Cornish crab was sweet and contrasted excellently with the dish, the pepper soup also well balanced. The deserts of a cheese board and café gourmand were well presented and a lovely finish to the meal. Very nice to see a section of unusual cheeses rather than the basic brie, cheddar and stilton. Great service, good selection of beverages and wines and a great atmosphere. I can understand why it is so popular.

Gorgeous food of the highest standard give it a try you will not be dissapointed. the beer and wine selection is also very good and extremely well kept

My wife an I visited the restaurant on a Thursday evening, we were pleasantly surprised to see it quite full, not just with guests of the hotel but also with people coming to dine. The food was very tasty, well presented and the service was excellent. A special mention to our waitress Jade, who was attentive, friendly and seemed genuinely interested in our experience and our opinion of the food. Altogether it was a lovely 3 course meal and couldn't be faulted. I would love to visit again and would recommend it to anybody. The only caveat is that the menu is quiet small, but as the food was of an excellent standard, it more than makes up for it.

We visited twice using a taste card. The food was lovely and the staff were friendly and polite. It was fairly expensive (without a taste card) but I would recommend it.

Well made sandwich with a bowl of chips at lunchtime while playing golf. A little pricy but the service was excellent!

We have lived in this area for fourteen years but have never previously visited Cubros.Soon we have to entertain some friends, so thought it wise to make an experimental trip to Cubros, just the two of us, to check out it is suitable before taking them when they visit. No need to worry, Cubros exceeds all expectations. The serving staff were very friendly and very helpful, e.g. explained menu ingredients we had not heard of before.Choice of seating for our pre-booked table, so as it was a bright sunny day we chose the glazed 'conservatory' area where excessive sun-heat is kept pleasant by air-cooling.The general environment and all the glass-top tables were immaculate and fully laid out with all glassware, cutlery, etc. The menu was specifically printed, dated for day of our visit ( a Sunday ).This is not a Sunday Carvery but there was a good-range choice of Mains ( two Roasts, plus ) a range of Starters, enough surely for the widest range of palates. As stated the serving staff were very friendly and our drinks arrived promptly, plus iced and lemon water without needing to ask. The succession of arrival of Starters and Mains, and intermediate plate clearance, proceeded at exactly the right tempo for our Sunday lunch environment. The staff seem well trained or experienced in doing things at exactly the right pace to suit what the customers want, and they do it well. The food itself was impeccable. Gazpacho for Starters was nicely chilled and nicely spiced taste. The two roasts we had ( one Beef, one Pork ) were both beautifully cooked and served fresh and hot, along with a wide selection of vegetables plated up with the Mains. To finish we had Capuccino coffee and a Hot Chocolate, both perfectly made and served,seated on the outdoor seats which overlook the golf course. A delightful grass and wooded area, very peaceful to look at. There is just one mystery, far from being a complaint, is there something lacking in the Best Western / Centurion / Cubros marketing of this venue ? Despite its impeccable elegance and fine food, we were the ONLY customers throughout the entire Sunday lunchtime of the day we visited. Whilst it was lovely to have the sole and focussed attention of the serving staff , this is surely not how it is meant to be ? My greatest fear is that when we wish to re-visit ( and we will not be waiting a further 14 years ! )we will find it has closed through 'lack of business' I do hope they do some more visible marketing to ward off such a possibility.

It was one of the tastiest meals I have ever had and I have eaten in some pretty good restaurants. The place is having a much needed refurbishment soon but I could not fault the food and the conservatory was a lovely romantic setting.

I was sort of tempted not to write this as it is a sad review - I have not been to such a sad and sorry place for many years, I don't intend to make this a long review (it could go into several pages). The foods was poor, staff were disinterested and unkempt. Never again

Had a quick lunch in there jays bar today.The meun is very pub based and could do with a little update it a little on the high priced side The food came out hot and did taste good,and the staff are friendly and helpful.Even the woman on the reception seemed helpful and very welcoming.

The Restaurant is part of the Best Western Centurion Hotel but don't let this put you off. The restaurant has an outdoor area where you can sit and admire the beautiful golf course if the weather is favourable and there is also a conservatory area.I ordered Olives for starters followed by a main course and a side salad. The food was served in a timely manner by very friendly staff and was well presented and came with side vegetables. Including a drink the total cost was £21 which is not excessive considering the environment and the establishment that you are in.A pleasant experience. Would definately recommend.

My wife and I booked a table at the Cubros restaurant through grab a table where you get a % of your bill, good idea for a Monday night !. The new team of chefs who came from Ston Easton were I first ate there food, which is very good and it suited the hotel, surroundings and the well trained FOH staff. But not t at the Centurion hotel, on our arrival the receptionist could not be bothered to lift her head and welcome people coming to the hotel. The waitering staff who were polite but very scruffy in appearance and in washed out uniforms. Our wine came to the table unopened and I watched in horror when the waitress picked up a wine glass by the top rim and put it on the table. The food was nice and well presented but it does not suit the Centurion hotel, and my final insult was when I went to pay the bill at the bar and in front of every body the waiter said " OH YEAH YOU ARE THE TABLE GRABBERS " to say I was embarrassed would be an understatement I felt like a scrounger. And on our departure the receptionist still did not lift her head and say goodbye .

We ate in the Cubros restaurant at the Centurion Hotel on Saturday evening with friends. They have a new chef and the meal was outstanding. The meals are well presented and the taste combinations are fantastic. In my view this restaurant is now on a par with the likes of Homewood Park and Hunstrete House. All the staff were polite, attentive and friendly.We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I have eaten here numerous times for family meals, lunches and the carvery. Recently we booked to celebrate my son's A Level results and all checked the menu online prior to going as we were quite a large party, to speed up ordering. When we were presented with the reduced size menu I naturally questioned why the online menu differed DRAMATICALLY to what we were shown in the restaurant. I was informed that there was a new chef 3 weeks ago and the menu had changed. I questioned why the online menu hadn't been updated to be told they had obviously forgotten. Two weeks later (today) it is STILL out of date so I wont be booking a table!

We ate at Cubros for Sunday lunch, it was a carvery. The restaurant was busy so we could only get a reservation at 1.30pm. I'm not sure what time they finish serving but when we arrived there wasn't a lot left and after questioning the waitress she confirmed they wouldn't be replenishing the selection any further. The food that we did have was very nice but I wouldn't visit again, we felt a bit like second class citizens for coming late!
