Fantastic, chips beautiful, burgers to die for, pies fab. Best in to would return excellent quality for money

Phoned in and spoke to a lovely young woman, who was friendly and made sure I had ordered all I required and then went back over the order to check.. brilliant service.Picked up my meal, had to wait but that was expected and I have to say well worth waiting for.. the best ever fish and chips I have had since I was a child and lived in the area.. I ordered a large fish and medium chips and the fish was huge, plus they gave me an extra piece of fish..wow just so much, but my cat and the strays I feed really enjoyed the treat. I also ordered two meat pies and two burgers and a chicken breast, all cooked to perfection all again with chips.. plenty of chips, to many really but what a meal.. first class. Well done to you all amazing, will defiantly be returning.

I'd give this fish n chip shop thumbs up. Overall satisfied we eat there quite often. Friendly service, meals are large portions, can be little pricey when eating in but the food is good.

Never sat down in the restaurant even though it looked very nice, went in for a take away. The take away was lovely but the service was disgusting much to slow, it seems when the Resturant part of the business is busy the take away people have to wait for their food [ and I mean wait ] I think I must of waited nearly half an hour or may be a bit longer for a simple fish and chips which was already. Crazy all customers are important surely.

The food was as good as always, the chips were some of the best I've had from a chippy! The service was a bit on the slow side, considering the restaurant was almost empty. They really need to turn on the air conditioning though, as there is a unit in the ceiling. On warm days the restaurant becomes very hot indeed.

if you want a sit down meal not a take away check the hours first as from around 2 - 5 pm it seems to be take away only. all cooked fresh so lovely, wine a bit on the rank side but cheap enough

We've been visiting for years when in the area. They do take-away and eat in with booths on the side. There is even a bar at the back. Staff are friendly and willing to alter meals if required or swap say chips for a salad. A good range of basic fish/chips and items to choose from and all cooked fresh. I wish they could grill fish for a healthier option though. Good, tasty food rather than fine dining, but certainly worth a visit. A little pricy though for the serving sizes (see pic). There is a free carpark across the road.

Went here for lunch and ate in the restaurant. Good service and good food. All food was cooked to order.

Friendly family run very established Fish and Chip takeaway.However, there is a large seating area to the right-hand side with no steps or obstacles and the staff are so friendly is it just such a pleasant visit. It makes a lovely change to sit down and have your food cooked freshly and served up with all the trimmings. Reg's has been in Clacton for over 20 years minimum and the food is superb as is the service. There is a large free car park just opposite so no problems with access at all.

We have eaten here on many occasions over the years and have never been disappointed. Great food and brilliant service.

Tried one of their famous kebabs recently. I was not let down either, bloody lovely. Not all spicy and yukky, just a nice flavour and filling

Absolutely beautiful food. But no fu*k1g Motown. Where the dancing in the street. Fuming, 5 out of 5 if I want you back by the Jackson five I would have creamed in my salad.

Had fish and chips twice now over the last few weeks and I have to say that the portions of chips are very large but the fish is very watery... Never had fish like it before so can't compare it with anything else...all I can say is that it's full of water... Would return if they sorted the fish thing out...

Fantastic fish and chips good portions and always tasty!! H8ghly recommend when your not feeling the cooking and washing up!

I suggest that if you would like to visit Regs again, you buy medium chips for 2 people as small is a good size for one

How dare anybody say that a small portion of chips is enough for 2 people regs are very generous with there portions if people wasn't stingy with there money and want decent food then put your hand in your pocket and pay an extra 40p for a medium and that would be more then enough for 2 people I mean are yous thick

I've gone there today to buy 2 saveloys and small chips for 2 of us. I have received 2 saveloys but the amount of chips in the box is disgraceful for the money. I am never going back there again as this is the second time I have been shortchanged. Disgraceful. Used to love this place. Not any more.

Regs is a great no frills but excellent food, good value place to eat. Plaice, skate and scampi are especially good - also do a great cuppa!

Tried Reg's for the first time on Saturday.

I go here regularly when I'm in the area. Sometimes I'll even drive 20miles here. Portions are big but I manage to eat it all and it's worth the money. Food is good, it's an all rounder. Would defiantly recommend visiting this place.

Someone advised us to try this chip shop and thank God we did it's not one of the best we've had it's the best we've had.we travel from ipswich every week because it's amazing.huge portions and cod is as fresh as it gets.

Remembering Regs queues from the 80s i would have to say it was disappointing. . People used to queue for miles for this place back in the day .. and remember Clacton had about 80 chip shops back then. . . .. We went in last week, Cod and Chips takeaway . .. . Lets sum it up . . Fish - okay . . chips - not great (boring, clumpy) portion - ridiculous. . . we got 4 cod and chips and honestly it could have fed 8-10 people. . . I would say calm down on the portion size and work on the flavour/size of the chips. . . It was ok, but was expecting more from a Clacton Chippy Icon . .

Great food. Kebab was really good. Love the way it was presented and the chicken was great. Not greasy. Sausage and chips tasty. Lovely chips. Had take away but really good seating area if you fancy eating in. Friendly staff

We came here with our cousins to buy cod and chips for four. We took it home to eat. Lovely! We will return the next time we are in Clacton.

Staff were rude and hard to approach. won't be coming back. Rude on the phone when we rung for opening times and rude in person.

My husband and I treated ourselves to lunch out at Reg's today. Not for the first time either. The fish is always fresh & the chips are the best for miles around. We've been eating there quite regularly over the last few years and we cannot fault the food, value for money or the service.

We always get really lovely cod and chips here. The servers are friendly and the service is quite quick considering it is a busy takeaway and sit-down restaurant.We will most definitely return when we are in Clacton again.

6 - buena relación calidad-precio comida para jubilados. Patatas fritas de pescado era agradable, pero ya necesitaba ser más doradas. Taza de té (horrible barato bolsitas quizás? )

Decidimos llevar y para ser honesto, esto era una pérdida de tiempo y dinero porque era inmejorable, la comida no era lo que estaba buscando lo único que estaba bien era el lugar buscando buena en el exterior y el interior nunca más 👎 👎

This is mostly used as takeaway but they also have a small restaurant with table service. The staff are friendly, but change frequently. The people who earned the reputation that this place has have long since gone & ever since it's filtered through the hands are various immigrants, most recently, Turks, or at least I think that's where they come from. Unfortunately their demeanour is as always, unfriendly, surly & ungrateful, which may account for the turnover of staff? The fish portions are a little small for the price & we found both of ours slightly under cooked & watery on the bottom. The chips were however properly cooked.

I Took 4 members of my family there 3 had the fish it hung over the edge of the plate very good portions,1 had a kebab thing he enjoyed it, I had a burger & chips that was ok.3 had tea 2 had beer to be honest it did not taste like beer should I know I drink beer a lot. So food good beer not good.

We haven't lived here long found this Fish & Chip take a way and sit in in Great Clacton One of the best Fish & Chips I have ever had. Keep it up Reg

This is the only fish and chip shop that we use these days as their chips are always nice, and not overly oily and the fish doesn't taste like ammonia. Really lovely food here.

Love this place. Purchased Fish and Chips here since the early 1950.s. Remember the Cod and Chips wrapped in Newspaper. Served by Erne and Reg. Still the same quality and service. A piece of Gt Clactons history.

Always get good food. Friendly service and pleasant environment. Always get a seat. It's easy to get to and parking in pub accross the road. Prices are good.

Always pleasant staff. Never been disappointed with good. Free car park near by. Reasonable prices and good portions.

I can honestly say imo this is the best Food, Staff & environment that I have experienced in my Fish & chip life , only unfortunately they stopped the delivery service however we just drive and pick it up , for those with a smaller appetite I suggest the Lite Bite . for those of a larger Belly go for a Medium all you others I dare you to try a Large like my Large (tubby) brother . This is my view, I am not associated with this establishment Just a happy customer

Telephoned an order for 6 people with time for pick up in half-an-hour. On arrival, all food ordered was ready and waiting to be wrapped. Very generous fish portions - medium cod seemed as big as the large ones! Batter was light and crispy. Enormous portions of chips. Friendly and efficient service.

Had 3 potions delivered it was lovely generous portions for £3.00 each and free delivery will certainly have it again very clean and fresh fast delivery as well .

I had the best Skate in my life here it was huge waiting service excellent and also licenced so if your not driving a good chance to enjoy a beer or wine with company. Been twice now and will be going back again tonight Best sea food around but very warm inside need to invest in some AC for customer comfort. Competitive prices for nowadays but on the whole 10/10

Purchased fish & chips to "eat in" . The first table we sat at was sticky, moved to another which was ok. We were brought a menu each and then waited almost ten minutes for someone to take our order, when the waitress arrived at our table we were told " Sorry, we were in the kitchen chatting and forgot about you". Not a good start! Our meal arrived quickly but the fish was so greasy that when you pressed a knife on to it you could see the grease coming out of it and the fish was sliding around the plate on the grease. We did tell the waitress when she commented that we had left our meal and her reply was " Oh, I wonder who fried it"...well, there were only two people cooking so it wouldn't have been hard to find out. No apology was forth coming. The outcome of our visit.....we won't be returning and won't be recommending it.

Trying to find a really good place to eat, then I can seriously recomment this place. Good quality, good price, excellant service. What more good you want.

Went Monday night with my friend, we are both chefs & have been for 30 plus years.The cod was cooked to perfection, very generous size & beautiful crispy batter. 2 large cod & chips, 2 beers, a gherkin & a pickled onion £24, we will be back very soon.Well done Reg's faultless food & service:) thank you.. Delicious Haddock and Chips! My hubbie had Rock Eel and Chips and we both cleared the plates! Such reasonable prices and great service and hospitality from The whole team.

Although I have never eaten in this excellent Fish Restaurant, I have enjoyed many takeaways. We had friends visiting last Saturday, and decided on a fish and chip supper. The fish was fresh and very white and the chips, as usual, delicious. The portions are generous, and we like that the food is freshly cooked for you. Would definitely recommend Reg's.

Generations of our family Have been coming to this restaurant over the last 30-40yrs and we're still not disappointed. When you order a LARGE cod, you get Large cod which wants to escape the edges of the plate - very rare nowadays.....a Large fish and chips in the wetherspoons compared to Reg's is 'TINY'!!!!! You will not be disappointed. Desserts are lovely too if you really want a treat.

Visited this restaurant a few times, previously did a review back in November last year and I have to say that my recent visit was even better.The food was fresh, really good with portions and good value. The chips were really tasty and plenty of them.There were 4 of us eating different items from the menu, from fish to pies and all of us really enjoyed the meal.Only suggestion is that they should do delivery, I think they would do well with this.

This fish and chip restaurant is fully licensed so you can enjoy a drink with your meal.I have been in a few times for lunch and the food is good and reasonably priced. The restaurant is set out in booths which gives privacy to small groups or couples. The ambience is old style Italian meets sea side fish and chip shop but it is cosy and quiet.The staff are pleasant and polite and do not hover. I would recommend this restaurant for lunches together or fish and chip couples or partiesThe cod and chips is reasonable and comes in large portions as does the scampi.Typical fish and chip shop food not the best that I have ever eaten but . at the price a very good meal.

A couple of years since we last ate here. It was just about OK this visit but we had ordered thick cut rather than the tail end cod which we were served. It was also hard to believe it was extra large fish (although there were too many chips). Quite expensive too for the now slightly run down décor and furnishings, given it is not in a special or sea front location. We will think twice before visiting again and if we do will have the take away.

Am a local and have been in a few times.The customer service was bad and the chips greasy. On one occasion one of the staff was extremely rude too. Wouldn't recommend these at all

Conveniantly opp,osite the Queens Head this fish and chip restaurant is the ideal place to go when hungry in Great Clacton. Nice crisp Chips, lightly battered fish and a drinks licence, makes this a real find.The staff are friendly, very helpful and polite and the food is freshly cooked and hot.

Used to come here loads as a kid and it was one of the best fish and chip shops in Clacton, if not the best. Heard things have changed a bit since then but have visited them on several occasions. I think the new owners are doing fine with the food and service, perhaps it could be refurbished a bit but the quality is still there.The food is nice, good portions and the service is good too.

Second visit to Reg's Fish & Chip. Sat in the restaurant side and ordered Whitebait and Garlic Mushroom to start followed by Rock and Chips and Cod and Chips-lovely presentation and piping hot. Will return.

Trying to find a decent Chip shop in Clacton and thought this week we would try Reg's, known afew years ago as the best fish and chip shop in town.....clearly not, very disappointed.If this is the state of the light switch I worry about the rest......

We looked forward to having fish and chips when visiting my mother,mvery dissapointed, the chips were soggy and greasy, I ordered larde fish and we received two small tasteless pieces each.Very dissapointed.

Normally I love Thai and Indian food , but sometimes you just crave the taste of British fish and chips . If you don't want to drive to Aldeburgh there is only one place Reg's in Clacton !! . Reg's has a takeaway and nice clean restaurant with a good choice of fish and pies , sausages ect . I usually have the Skate or large cod which are both excellent with chips and mushy peas , pity they don't do mint sauce with the peas . The only two are complaints miss the tea in a pot , and 75p for one onion !! Come on Reg for that money at least give us two !! . All in all Reg's does excellent fish and chips with large portions , with friendly staff in a nice clean restaurant . Reg's of Clacton serving the finest British cuisine Fish and Chips !!! .

We moved to Great Clacton 18 years ago and res was the best in town and then it went down hill was taken over by new owners but not very good. We heard that new people had bought it and decided to give it a try again last Wednesday and we were not disappointed food was hot service was quick chips could have been cooked a little more. 2 cod and one portion of chips would have been enough will go again this weekmick

Just had a really nice meal at Regs, been going there since I was 5 years old with family, glad to say it is back like it was years ago. Lovely meal, waitress and owners really friendly, my Uncle wanted a Banana Split, they did not have any Bananas left - being enterprising people they went and borrowed some off the pub opposite - excellent service ! Well done Regs!

Our family is a bit mad when it comes to fish n chips - we will travel miles to visit a good fish n chip shop. I've just moved to the area (mid week anyway) so I asked where the best fish n chip shop in Clacton was and I was told Reg's.It's a serious fish n chip restaurant, with seating for a lot of people - you only get this big after years of success??However it's very much a community fish n chips place - I saw an old lady popping in for just a chat when I was there.I would say that the size of the medium cod I had was very good. In terms of the overall meal I would say (and I eat in a lot of very good fish n chip shops) that it could have been fresher and slightly less cooked (for my taste). Having said that it was a perfectly good medium cod n chips at £5.50. I went on a Tuesday night - I would guess that on a busy night the food is better.

Was ok but size of fish has got smaller dint get a large pice like when old owner had it nice but disappointed

I happy to say regs chip shop is back just like when reg himself run it, gone on the Chinese people and now run by some nice Greek people. fantastic fish n chips, value for money, and lovely tasty food, the other chippy round the corner Skinners this place will give them a well deserved kick up the bum bloody place is a rip off!! Rant over.
