Wimpy in Tendring

First time for many years really looked forward to it but we were extremely disappointed, the service was brilliant but unfortunately the food was very very poor the burgers are definitely not the same as they were thick, chunky and to me and my wife tasted awful, and were very sloppy in texture,to the point of almost under cooked. For the price we paid I would expect better food, we have had better from a mobile burger van. definitely won't go to Wimpy in clacton again .

Little bit expensive, but isn't everywhere!

Lovely service from the guys that worked there Shame about there milkshake and food. Was served a milkshake and it was served with gone off milk used. The food was slightly over done, part of the order was forgotten about

the drinks was not packed right and they was laing on there side and was very messy the chicken wraps was ok not sure if you have change the red sauce and it tasted very vingrey

I did order and went to wash my hands when i came back the staff has told other customers to seated on my table. Told me to change i will never go to anothe wimpy again

I've been coming here for years and it's always a great meal and good atmosphere; always clean with friendly service. The price is higher than other options, but worth it for freshly cooked and generous portions. They cater for a range of dietary needs and can adapt on order.

Daylight robbery!! Can't speak to anyone. Paid for food and drink I haven't received. Just eat say my order was delivered, well not to me!! Restaurant has closed so can't even contact them. Absolute rubbish!!!!!

The service was great, super attentive staff, but the ripped seats and the smell of the toilets were very off-putting. The brownies were superb, the burgers not so much.

Visited wimpy for some food fries were nice burgers was okay not the best ordered milkshakes as well very tasty apart from seeing a employee there who was doing our milkshakes after using a spoon and then putting the spoon in his mouth not professional at all won't be coming back again

Food was as good as always, the delivery driver wasn’t great, wanted me to walk down the road to him…. There was a reason I asked for JustEat to DELIVER

don't usually order breakfast here but glad we did! absolutely delicious food, my partner had the all day breakfast roll and it was huge. It was actually too big to take a full bite and he's got a big gob!

consistently excellent food, not cheap but you get what you pay for. latte is the best in town, i have the one shot as i dont like it too strong. Friendly polite staff and the place is always clean.

Havnt been to a wimpey for years. Called in to get a cheese burger and must say it was the best burger I've had for ages. Will be going back again. Service was great as well.

Have used this wimpy since I was a kid. 9 times out of 10 the staff are excellent. Also it’s nice to have table service unlike similar eateries! wimpy is more old school and that’s why I use them… more welcoming, good quality food and you don’t have to use your fingers to eat your food 😊👍 Only one knock … the front door glass and handle are the first things you see when you arrive and generally they look pretty grim… a bit of kitchen roll and some window cleaner several times a day would make a big difference but this is only my opinion

Items were missing out of my order, one burger was missing cheese and tomatoes and the milkshakes were wrong.

The delivery was ontime because the time kept changing , the map showed the driver 6 mins away then 4 then 6 again then 4 then 3 then 4 again. The food was cold and I had left a message for the restaurant but they ignored it and I had salad stuff on burger that I did not want

On my visits to Clacton I have always had food at this Wimpey. The service is excellent and I am happy with the food. However, it does concern me why there are so many small flies around. On every visit over the last couple of years I have always noticed these flies which does put me off eating there. I did put it down to the time of year especially when it is warmer weather. However, my last visit was in October and there was just as many flies around. This problem needs to be addressed.

The drink was half empty and flat, the bag was soaked through where the drink had spilled. The food is stone cold. Was left on my door step, no delivery driver to be seen. Assuming that’s because they knew the drink was dripping everywhere through the bag. I’m not very happy at all with the whole order :(

Awful. New chef no hat!! 🤮 We came in here Feb 2023 and was ok Today my burger wasn’t done enough Hardly any onion. Chips in a bowl now No condiments on tables Knife fork dirty had to clean it Area we sat smelt awful Didnt look appetising You need to sort it out before coming again Was never like this ever

Food not good chicken was off not that clean at all

Nice food and would order more often if it wasn't so expensive. Couldn't bring myself to pay £12 for three measly portions of chips so cooked some oven chips whilst waiting for the burgers to be delivered.

Came here around 11:15 on Monday 11th September. Worst Wimpy we’ve ever been in many aspects. Those to highlight were the young staff members arguing between each other openly in front of customers, next to no service as it took what felt like an eternity for someone to ask us if we’d like to order something. Food took forever and was not fresh or merely presentable when it was served to us. We also witnessed someone returning their entire order and demand a refund as they’d had enough. Wish I’d done the same. Safe to say will not be returning anytime soon.

Great food, manager was so funny kept making us laugh, young waitress quite rude ignored us when we asked for help, slammed plates on table.

Good food usually but I had a glass of water and it tasted and looked like the glass had not been washed. Sent it back and received a glass of water which had not only not been washed, but had a dead insect in it. Don't know whose job it is to wash up but they're not doing their job. I'm hoping I don't get sick from that.

Disappointed. Usually can't fault wimpy food but this time was very disappointing considering how expensive it is. The chicken wrap was all wrap and barely any filling and the chicken burger was sloppy and thrown together. Not worth the money !

Young staff members who worked hard to sit people in a busy period greeted pleasantly and quick service. Highly recommended.

As usual, the quarter pounder no cheese was excellent. Added bonus, asked if chef could squeeze out some of the fat from the burger (good wimpys do this) and was agreed and done. An all round excellent meal and staff helpful ..

The food was amazing, the milkshake was the best milkshake we have ever tried. The food was freshly cooked and presented well. The first member of staff was rude and ignored us, but a lovely young girl came and served us and was very friendly and helpful. I did see the same girl cleaning every table someone had eaten at. The toilets were the only let down of this restaurant, no soap, tap just kept spinning around and only a drop of water came out. The hand drier only went on for 2 seconds and off again. The toilet floor was very dirty . The restaurant needs some money spent on it, as it has tape over the cracks on the floor to hold it down. But we went in for good food and fond memories and that is exactly what we got.

Absolutely disgusting.. 40 pounds for 2 meals and a portion of chips, of which the burgers came so squashed they were inedible. never again better quality food from McDonalds for half the price

Wimpy Clacton on sea total rubbish waited over 25 minutes for two wimpy burgers and chips ,the staff all where about 16 years old and didn’t have a clue they spent most off there time chatting the place was empty for a busy sunny day , in the end told them to cancel my order and we left terrible service for a seaside town all other cafes and take always where busy I would not recommend Wimpy Clacton to any one ,

Food was delicious, reasonably priced and well presented. We ate in and the place was clean and tidy. Good selection of food and drink on the menu. The server tonight 14/08/23 at around 20.30 was absolutely fantastic pulled extra tables together for us, served us with a smile and was a credit to the brand.

Visited this a couple of months ago. Great food and service and great deals also. The service was ok and the food was fresh.

Took me back years going to this place made me feel like a child again. Great food and fairly priced.

Lovely hot food and friendly staff. Whilst the cafe is quiet the staff could do some cleaning of the customer eating area.

When my order came it was cold, i opened up my chicken wrap for there to be no mayo in it so i had a dry chicken wrap my partners burger came small but in the restaurant there more bigger the chips were a good size amount but again cold, i use to love wimpy but now its becoming my least favourite.

Have a kid with autism who doesn't like sauce on his burger, so ordered the burger clearly marked with no sauce, burger arrives covered in sauce. And now the store is closed.

Been wanting to eat at a Wimpy for years, always so hard to find one these days! It didn't disappoint. Service was quick, staff were very friendly and very happy to work here and the food was delicious. A must for anyone who wants to spend a day at Clacton. Will definitely pop in again when I next visit Clacton.

Fast friendly service and nice food

My chicken burger was fine, fries were a bit dry. Chocolate shake was tasty. The waitress was cheery and polite.. Not sure what the idea is with the decor since my last visit it seems to have taken a more dour tone, it's a bit dark at the rear of the seating area and one thinks a lighter decorative scheme would help the interior.

Got a delivery for my dads birthday and wow! When it arrived the bag was ripped due to the grease within the bag, 2 burgers were out of the box and all over the other items, the big bendy was over cooked and hard to swallow, the triple cheeseburger was dripping g with grease! Loved wimpy since I was a young girl and will never go back again! Clacton on sea Wimpy! You’ve ruined a life long love! Will urge peers to go elsewhere as you don’t take criticism kindly .

Clacton-on-sea wimpy was not the best wimpy I've been too, I will go out of my way for a wimpy. The cup and saucer was not clean, the inside of the tea pot lid was very stained with old tea, the fryers were very greasy the burger was OK. well below the standard I would expect from a wimpy. The service was good

Staff really friendly and helpful from the start. Ordered the food and a shake. Didn't have to wait long. The food was OK nothing special considering the high price. The shake was good quality and really enjoyed it. Minor things that stopped a 5 star. The floor needed a sweep, hardly anyone in there with loads of staff and the prices. Would go again mind you.

Need to add table numbers on the table and bigger kids plates so you can cut food . Needs to be cleaner. the food is is mid

Wrong order delivered and late

Food wasn't up to standards £20 pound for a burger meal, was like eating a mouthful or grease

Placed order and was expecting it to be around 45-60mins,however as soon as order placed I was pleasantly surprised to see it would be 15-25mins… however that time kept changing and in the end was around 45mins late. It’s not the cheapest of food either and to be charged a “service” charge is a bit of liberty. There was no service tbh. The food was nice although fries were like warm

Arrived late and chips undercooked. Not good enough for the price we’ve paid. Prefer ordering from here rather than cheaper burger places but we’ve paid double the price for not very nice food. This was supposed to be a treat.

We only ordered drinks coffee and hot chocolate, the chocolate was luke warm so I sent it back, it was replaced with another one which was luce warm also I drank it and then we left. Not happy.

Just ate in this Wimpy & threw up within 30 minutes. Order wrong, plate dirty, no burger sauce although asked for, then so much added that all you could taste. Paid under duress and complained to cashier who wasn't interested other than taking my money. I will not return the Wimpy Burger experience is very much a thing of the past !

Dirty dishes and cutlery, dirty tables and chairs too. Smelled awful too. Never coming back
