Upon entering Hickory’s our server Rob introduced himself and made a real fuss over my grandson making him feel very special. We chose from the delicious new menu and our food and drinks arrived promptly and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food. I can highly recommend the baby back ribs! There’s a lovely atmosphere and I would not hesitate to recommend Hickory’s to all ages!!We will be back! Xx

Daughter and I went for a dessert after swimming. Staff were accommodating (a side of strawberries for my daughter) and, as the title says, the food looked like the pictures!! Also tasted great (bueno waffle) and I think was perfectly reasonable price-wise (2 of us shared 1 waffle & ice cream for £10). Hannah says: one of the best best restaurants.

O Wildcard, O Wildcard, O Wildcard, Where flavors fade and dreams are marred, A grill that sizzles, yet none can taste, A mystery meal, a dreadful waste. The service stumbles, the wait is long, A dish of confusion, a taste gone wrong. The fries are soggy, the steak’s burnt black, The salad’s wilting, the bread’s off track. The drink? A mess, like syrup in ice, A cocktail disaster, not once, but twice. O Wildcard, you tempt with a spark, But leave all your guests in the dark. The music blares, the lights too bright, No comfort found on this errant night. A gamble it is, this dining spree, O Wildcard, you're a tragedy. So here’s my plea, O place of woe, Change your ways or let us go. For a meal should delight, not put us through strife, O Wildcard, you ruin the joy of life.

We didn’t have a huge amount of time as we had to get to the theatre, but Emily was great and made sure our food was pacey but equally that we didn’t feel that we were being rushed through. Food was nice but huge portions for adults. Kids portions were good and we had a nice time.

Disappointed and underwhelmed, last visit to a restaurant we have used frequently, we had the glazed smash burger and as mentioned it isn’t value for money, two very thin burgers, couldn’t taste the glaze and warm at best, the potion sizing has shrunk drastically to the point most meals are on children’s plates, the service wasn’t terrible but wasn’t great, constantly asking for more cutlery, drinks, napkins etc Music is louder than needed and the tables and seats are sticky and well worn, sad to say it’s our last visit to an overpriced venue that is past its best. Not very busy but service is as if it’s full capacity.

We visited on the 6/4/25 for a birthday meal there was 12 of us in total and i don’t think any of us will be rushing back anytime soon. The service was okay, however at the end when we got the bill we noticed that there were 3 extra drinks on the bill that we didn’t have. On the second round of drinks we had to ask four times for a drink to be served to us as they forgot it. Every time we asked they said “yeah it’s coming”. But it never did so we had to ask again and the rest of us had finished our drink by the time this one arrived. When we got bill they charged us for 3 of this drink when we only ordered 2. The waitress did get the drinks removed off the bill for us, but wasn’t very apologetic for the other drinks being adding onto our bill. There was one young blonde girl who was very polite and helpful i didn’t catch her name. This girl brought the cake out for us to all sing Happy birthday. However, we had a variety of dishes some really nice some not so good. The seafood linguine was tasteless and bland with not much seafood about it. The fajitas were flavourful but not a lot of meat. Two of us ordered this meal and were both very disappointed with the lack of chicken and beef in the dish. Also i found the beef very chewy and not enjoyable. The burgers, kebabs, wraps and pizzas that the others had looked really good and they said that they enjoyed them.

My experience with The Hide was somewhat of a mixed bag. Let me explain. My partner and I decided to go here for our anniversary - we are both big steak fans and wanted to try something new. Upon arriving, the restaurant was very quiet - for a Tuesday I expect this and it served us well. The lady who served us was nice, if a little clueless about what they did/didn't sell but more on that later. We sat down at a window table and was pleasantly surprised by how lovely the whole restaurant looked from where we were sitting. We decided on a corner-window seat as we didn't know how full the place would get later and didn't want to get in the way. I sat directly in the corner and was slightly dismayed to see that I had sat DIRECTLY under a speaker. It was rather loud and I had to raise my voice higher than normal to be heard by my partner sitting only 3 feet away. The server came to take our drinks order, and this is where things started to sour slightly for me. As a steak fan, I am also a huge fan of a good red wine to go with it. I asked the server "What wines do you have?" her response..."Red, White and Rose" - I couldn't help but chuckle slightly, so I asked what reds she had, she didn't know. The first thing any server should know is what they are serving, what is available and how much it is, she knew none of these things and instead had to go across the restaurant to the till, to check. She came back to me there was a Shiraz, Malbec and Merlot - not exactly a billionaire's banquet as you can see, but I reluctantly got the Shiraz - it was vile. I then got a pint of some-thing or other, and that tasted lovely. Partner got a gin and a cider, and again, no complaints there. Next comes the food. Like so many, we had looked online to see what was available and had chosen our meal, when we arrived, very little of it was available and for a 'steakhouse' the choice was rather lacking. We looked at the "menu" - which was a small piece of white paper with some items on it and appeared to have seen better days. For an establishment as outwardly beautiful as this, it was a big let-down to be handed a flyer - rather ruins the atmosphere in my opinion. We both got a rump with all the trimmings and a calamari starter - no complaints there, food was lovely, steak was cooked to perfection and the trimmings were delicious even if the peppercorn was slightly too peppery for my tastes. We had a great time there listening to the slow atmospheric music which was being played - if rather loudly and paid for our meal. The meal came to around £80, which was more than reasonable for what we had. My last point of contention is with the server's behaviour as we left. We started to make our way over to the door to leave, and she barely looked up from her phone to say goodbye - found this rather rude considering there was no-one else in the restaurant. All in all, a rather mixed experience. I would go again, but I would sit in a different place and lower my expectations going forwards. Special mention to the chef however, as he was lovely and came to see how our food was - you don't see that nowadays and it was a welcome addition to our experience. Probably see you again on Valentine's Day The Hide, even if the experience wasn't an overwhelmingly positive one, I believe you can do better and I look forward to seeing you try.
