First time we'd been. Lovely friendly staff, the food was delicious will definitely go back

Went for a birthday celebration, the food was very good, really tasty! The decor was great and all the little touches with the tin plates etc, were in keeping with the theme, the drinks were good and the price point also good. The staff were attentive and friendly. The facilities were clean and quirky (taps) What I will say, is they don’t scrimp in portions and if I went again I would choose a smaller dish. I have the build your own, I chose pulled pork and the sausage and couldn’t finish! We shared the Texan toast (insanely good) All in all a great experience, but advise you not to wear your favourite clothes as the gorgeous smoky smell does linger! 😂

Friends and I went for a meal on Saturday evening and 2 out of 3 people from our party (who both ate pork) came down with crippling food poisoning instantly after the meal. Waitress brought an array of random items to the table which weren't ordered and was rude to us when informed of the error. The waitress reread our meals upon ordering so not too sure how my friends meal was completely wrong and random items added to our bill. Had to ask for the bill three times before walking over to the bar. At this point we were all very nauseous from the food poisoning and needed to leave.

Delicious food and lovely staff. Would definitely go back again and I don’t usually eat at the same place twice. Amazing food portions for the price too. Not sure why anyone would spend £££ on miller and carter when you can get nicer and cheaper food from Smoke!

Giving a 4 because the amaretto sour was half lemon juice and I couldn't drink it; However, the lemonade cocktail (can't remember the actual name) was delicious. The service was amazing and the BBQ was yum. Very good value. I recommend the pulled pork hotdog.

Birthday meal out..husbands choice..been a few times and watched the quality and quantity of food go down hill...I had the brisket..the potato cake was the biggest part of the meal..what meat I had was dry and only two burnt ends..!!..macaroni cheese side was dry and tasted like it had been reheated a few times...don't think we'll be back..

We have previously loved coming to Smoke and I'm really surprised at our experience yesterday. First of all our food was OK but not the usual standard we are used to from Smoke. Two sides were forgotten about, at no point did anyone come and ask if everything was OK with our meal, we had to go to to the bar to order our drinks. The place was fairly empty, maybe six tables occupied, however they decided to sit a group of people right behind us, maybe they asked for that particular table but if not it definitely didn't make sense as other larger tables appeared available. The toilets both male and female were filthy, urine on toilet seats and it didn't look like they had been cleaned in quite a while. The chef was busy but also busy scrolling on his phone with gloves on with a phone in one hand and a spatula in another. It just feels the place needs a bit of TLC, a good clean, and maybe the staff to have a refresher course on customer care and how to look presentable when serving food, should staff not have long hair tied up neatly when serving food? . Nobody can tell me they were busy or didn't have enough staff as they were stood around most of the time around the bar area. I fed this back to the manager who did give a discount on our bill ( after I went up to the bar to ask to pay as nobody seemed interested to come over and ask). I honestly feel we could have just walked straight out and nobody would have noticed. Try to do better Smoke.

Went here as wife has wanted to for ages. We chose a build your own platter each, I had Sausage and pork chop, wife had ribs and pulled pork. Saw they came with Coleslaw and asked if it could be swapped and was told no it is what it says. Fair enough. The ribs tasted like they were out of a boil in the bag or something very sloppy and clearly not cooked on a bbq. I ordered a side of brisket hash (£6.50) thinking it would be in a bowl mixed up after reading about it on the menu it sounded lovelybut no was 2 deep-fried cake type things which tasted awful and salty ans overcooked. Pulled pork was tough and dry, as was the pork chop. Food was obviously batch cooked as it was served really fast. Nothing tasted like it had neen bbqed just slathered in bbq sauce. No one asked how our meal was whilst eating, nor when they saw how much we had left. We were just served, then felt like we were ignored. The waitress kept disappearing to use her phone at far end of the restaurant. The table was dirty and sticky with residue all over it. Not in a hurry to return, very expensive for what it was

Me and my fiancée went here for date night, I asked why is it we’ve never discovered this place before? The service was outstanding, food and drinks came out very quickly and they were busy. Food is to die for, we had a meal deal each, and the meat just fell apart it was the best meat I’ve had. Would highly recommend if u haven’t tried before. Milkshakes were really nice too. Great place for families big or small and great place for date night.

Sadly, for me, the food lets this place down. Both the beef rib and the sausage link were dry, the latter with a texture more akin to a spanish chorizo. All moisture of the meats had been removed. I didn't need the wet wipes provided. As i left i tried to look at other tables for and it appeared to be the same. As shame as the fries were light and crispy and the beans nice.

Shared the classic sharer and was delicious, quality meat and beautifully cooked. Plenty of food and variety for 2 people. Very good quality compared to other smoke house style restaurants. Beer selection slightly disappointing, but the food is why you go and well worth a trip, good value too for quality and quantity.

This venue lures you in as you walk by, with the smell of delicious smoked meats surrounding it. While prices might not be the lowest, you’re getting your money’s worth. The portions are generous, so if you’re not starving, you’ll want to ask for some takeout boxes. The ribs are exceptional, and you shouldn’t let any of it go to waste. I also recommend the wings with their original sauces. The chips are also on point.

It's definitely better than a 4/5, so giving 5/5. The food was outstanding, pictures below of the (can't remember name) 'Everything plate' as couldn't pick. Atmosphere good, somehow nailing loud and bustling with chill, wasn't hard to talk, music soft-ish, room volume high but not overpowering. Decore fun, novel take on outside/bbq/lounge/industrial kinda mix. Very friendly staff. Highly recommend. Only bits of critique I did have were the below, but the real concern with either is that on the night we went, (Friday night) they were not full at any point, a few free tables at all times, and on the way there Google said it was less busy than usual, which I can well believe, so not operating at capacity, yet: 1 water glasses brought still warm from glass washer, 2 took a bit of time to get the attention of the waiting staff once we were sat and had made initial order, even for more drinks. Both seem a little odd as should have been busiest and most heavily staffed night, yet not that busy, unless they're cutting staff on the night but at the cost of service? Anyway, only slight, minor issues, not enough to lose a star over, really good meal, delicious food!

My husband recommended this place as he has eaten there before. Whilst not a huge fan of ribs I thought we would give it a try. Menu is a bit limited -strangely there is no standard burger on there- but I really enjoyed the ribs and the sides were excellent. Food arrived very quickly so they clearly have food ready to go. Good option when going to the Lyceum, Crucible or City Hall.

Me and my partner was on our way to cosmo and seen smoke bbq and decided to go there instead. I was very please that we did cause the atmosphere and service was amazing greeted with a smile .now let's talk food wow I had the pulled pork it melted in my mouth and was not over powered by the bbq sauce and the chips was summat esle

Burnt ends were disappointing but the rest of the food was alright. Burnt ends should be cooked in layers of sauce, but the burnt ends here were chunks of plain, flavourless meat, drizzled with some sauce before serving. Tacos were cool. Everything was ok, but I don't think I would eat here again, solely down to the burnt ends.

Went here last March. The restaurant itself is spacious and bright. The interior is well-planned and they’ve got a high ceiling as well. Lots of tables for diners as well. We ordered their ribeye steak and brisket plate. Both were delicious. The Ribeye steak was medium well and juicy. Tender meat and delicious. However, the Brisket Plate was a bit dry and hard to chew on. ( it was tasty though). Other than that, I’ll still recommend people to try and dine here.

Year after year I've ordered here for several of us, to take back to the hotel (literally next door) while in town for a convention. Every year the head chef has always been Empathetic and worked something out for a gluten+mustard allergy. This is the first year I was Flat Out Refused to order anything due some silly policy I cannot take the same things I used to back to the hotel next door for the sake of someone's ego on how the food is "presented". I know first hand it won't go cold by the time I get back. I was also accused of lying (why would I come back if I hadn't had a previously good experience??) They close early and everyone can't get there in time. It's just a steak. You're not making it for the King.

We were excited to try the brisket. But it was cold, hard, and not palatable. If a person has ever tried brisket before having this, it would be really disappointing. It was not at all worth the price. The wings, which is the most easiest dish in a barbecue and you guys have unfortunately managed to dry it up. Not at all an american barbeque place. Chip shops do it much better. The place has good vibes but food has been very disappointing.

Ordered beef brisket and chicken wings which was very dry and tasteless. The chips tasted cold and dry as well. Was heavily disappointed with the food. Would never recommend this place to anyone again.

Disappointing. Meat was dry and not 'BBQed'. Cooking involved opening vacuum packed bags and warmed up. (Sat watching them cook it) Didn't even have the big cooking pit burning. Mac n cheese was nice but if your going for the meats go elsewhere. Toilets disgusting and smelt awful. Should have gone to toilet first because you can always tell a good restaurant by the state of the toilets.

First time visit, ordered sharing big, ribs were cold, these was taken away and replaced, pre packed food was taken out of the fridge, placed on the grill then seasoned and warmed up, wouldn't call this BBQing, table was sticky, toilets need cleaning, over all not a great experience, I won't be going back, I'll visit Asda and purchase the same food and warm it up in the oven. 😪

As with some other reviews, this was a mixed bag. Cannot fault the staff who were friendly and prompt. Each of us went for the plate option. Ribs were great, wings were not. Everything that wasn't chicken was tasty, well seasoned and nice. Beer and cocktails also great. Just avoid any of the chicken options, greasy and bland.

If you love BBQ sauce this is the place, best sauce ever. Can buy it too. All meats unreal, endless flavour. Just go.

Food very bland, no seasoning... Have they even heard of salt? Compared with, say, Smokestak in London, everything is very poor (brisket, mac & cheese, corn. Skin-on-fries were good though.

Very disappointed. Celebrating a birthday. My daughter didn’t get what she ordered, my pulled pork was cold. My husband had the brisket which was dry. The only thing that was spot on were the drinks. The waitress was lovely.

Pleased to be greeted and seated at the BBQ smoke house upon arrival but unfortunately the food was so dry and hardly any meat on the baby back ribs very disappointed especially with the price and what quality was served to me and my partner we have both been sick from this previous meal. With bloated stomachs even hours after food.

Food was pretty good, but the portions were a bit small for the price. The burger is not much bigger than a McDonald's but x5 the price. It was decently tasty. Chips were nice too but definitely tastier and cheaper options out there. The house lager was surprisingly nice though.

Way overcooked bbq not worth it save your money

Had the mixed platter, got wings and shot ribs with tango orange, the tango was the best thing. Completely gutted because I love bbq.

Considering it was a very busy Saturday evening, the service was very good and all staff were all friendly and helpful. The food was very well cooked and tasted delicious and portion sizes were large. The beer jugs are a great idea and went down very well. We booked for a birthday party for our daughter who was very impressed with her complementary birthday cocktail. We will definitely be visiting again. Well done to all staff you were all fantastic.

It was later than normal as got something to eat after a concert at the Crucible. Quite tasty food but quality of the cook was poor. Waited a while for food but only warm.

Very clean and welcoming, staff very friendly and efficient. Food very good value for money. Will definitely be going again in the near future. We walked straight In but would advise booking as it got very busy while we were there.

Not cooked low and slow hard and fast! Air conditioning to high so food went cold quickly like eating a old leather bag

This place what can I say they had smoke , they had BBQ and they had love and they won my heart with excellent food I would highly recommend

American style meats, American sized portions (so you won't be leaving hungry). Too much choice to decide, so I went with the pit burger in order to try 3 types. All were very good, though the brisket wasn't as cut with a spoon-able as you'd find in some off the main road joint in St Louis or Atlanta you'd definitely have to go that far to beat it in this country. Nice attempt at collard greens as a side, but I'd have preferred a smaller portion or half and half with beans option for greater variety. Chips had odd tendency to stick together. Sham e that the red and guest ales weren't on tap, but the lager was refreshing enough.

Stunning, it's the day after and I'm still thinking about how tasty it was. Will definitely be going back - the smell when you walk in is incredible and the food is absolutely delicious.

I've been here a number of times and it has never been anything less than delicious. The burnt ends are a personal favourite. The music is usually quite loud so maybe not the best place for one-to-one chatting, but for a casual bite it's not really an issue.

Extremely overrated. Didn't remotely taste of bbq, tasteless chicken, burnt ends..... awful. In black treacle like sauce, not good in any way. We were baffled as to how people think this place produces well cooked, tasty meat??

Waited at front to be seated, no service so left. edit... 1st you are right about the two stars, I wrote the review at the time I left your restaurant and meant to give you 1 star, I have ammended that now. I walked in and waited at the front, the restaurant wasn't that busy at the time, plenty of staff standing around and plenty of free tables, we waited for far too long and no one even acknowledged us there which is just rude. I think your front of house staff need some training on customer service as even an acknowledgement would have sufficed and then poeple don't mind waiting for 5 or 10 minutes. Its also a shame it has taken you 1 month to reply to this message..

Decent place and food, and decent NHS / student discounts, lots of alcohol but very poor for those who don't drink it, it needs to up its game.

Smoke is my go-to favourite when meeting friends. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are always very welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere inside is fun, lively, and relaxed. I'd definitely recommend the pork belly and pulled pork.

Mr and my partner visited Smoke BBQ on 14th April. Was promptly served. We ordered the BBQ dog and Philly steak dog with loaded fries. Great portion size, lovely and hot, quick... nice surroundings..great atmosphere and our servers were polite and friendly. £40 for our meals and two drinks. Definitely recommend.

Service was spot on, no complaints. The food on the other hand was extremely disappointing, I ordered the brisket that allegedly had been smoked for 18 hours. It was tough, dry and came out stone cold. Asked for a replacement which was pretty much the same. Mac and cheese definitely was microwaved and processed. Overall a laughable experience for a smokehouse.

Visiting Sheffield & had been heading somewhere else to eat, but this looked & smelt good so we popped in. We were lucky as we got the last walk in spot. Excellent food, excellent beer, excellent service, all at a very fair price.

Visited on Saturday and we was late but the lady on the front on the house was very understanding and found us a table after being welcomed . Our server was Liam and he did a wonderful job , his customer service skill were very impressive and gave us his recommendation so we had a sharing platter. The food was to die for it was beautiful the meat just melted in your mouth from the first bite down to the very last . The beverages we had were very nice . Needles to say another night out in the smoke house is definitely on the cards again very very soon.

Food was cold and fries not fresh, service was slow and attitude was take it or leave it. Brisket was dry, wings not fresh ribs too spicy. Toilets filthy, but the beer was fantastic, vanilla milkshake £5 and was disgusting.

So firstly, the place is very nice looking but sadly style over substance. Our server was great but sadly the people in the kitchen are the ones here not doing a good Job. Firstly we asked our server if we could swap out our chips for one of the other same price point sides as we are not big chip lovers with bbq. According to the kitchen staff he asked, this was not possible. Not even a paid upgrade, So bad taste in my mouth straight away. Next onto the food. My wife had the pork belly , which wasn't even slightly smoked, and I ordered the philly cheese steak , which if you have ever had one this was beyond an insult to one. I didn't want a philly cheese steak, but this was one of the only options without chips ( I could request no chips if I wanted but I would still be charged full for the plate, and to get the side I wanted would gave cost me over 25 pound for a no doubt sub par cheeseburger so i went with the philly) . I also ordered fralepenos which I order whenever I get the chance. These (much like the philly) were not frallepenos. I ate maybe 3 before I gave up the raste of unchanged fryer oil and awful taste of "my first attemt at making a batter" was too much. Our server was great. He was apologetic and he gave us a lovely discount . We wanted to leave him a tip but it was sadly shared with the kitchen so we didn't. He was good at his job. They were not so we did not want to leave any money that was not going directly to him. All in all we was going to bring a large party back for a friend's birthday. I'm really glad we wasted 40 quid up front so they won't be disapointed. Avoid at all costs

We walked in and the smell of BBQ food was amazing. The design and decoration of the restaurant was good too. Ordered a sharing platter and some sides. The chicken wings were well seasoned and tasted great. The ribs, chicken thighs and burnt ends were so dry and tough they were almost inedible. You could smell that some attempt to season or glaze them had been attempted; but, they all just tasted like very dry, flavourless cardboard. Fries were barely salted. The Mac and Cheese was bland, it just tasted like a creamy pasta. No seasoning or flavour, just bland. The waiter was great and took our feedback to the manager. We never saw the manager but they gave us a small discount. It would have been nice to see the chef and have them taste the food in front of us. We wanted to tip the waiter but we found out that the waiters there don't get to keep their tips; and, that some of the tips would even go to the kitchen - who frankly didn't deserve it.

I LOVE Smoke bbq. I usually get baby back ribs and I absolutely adore them. A proper meal out. A bit spent (£19 for the ribs), but nonetheless, amazing dinner.

Waited 20 mins to order drinks, another 10 to deliver them, ordered food that was another 35 minutes. Place was half empty so no excuses and only one chef wearing a hat in an open kitchen, won't be back anytime soon

We spent over £60 on Deliveroo and the food was really disappointing. It was pretty much cold when it arrived, so the ribs and brisket were tough and unappetising. The chips were bland and also cold. Somehow the macaroni cheese seemed to have been made with no cheese and just tasted of white sauce. Even the coleslaw was bland. Wouldn't recommend. If you're going to charge full whack on Deliveroo you need to find a way of keeping the food warm. The cardboard boxes don't cut it.

Had a reservation first time for us both at smoke bbq, waitress was rude, and was not helpful I told her I was pregnant and pulled a face, I asked for help on choosing drinks her reply was there’s not much for you, so I just ordered a Pepsi max cherry, we then ordered food, took her about 20 mins to come back to us, I had a build your own pit plate with short pork ribs ( these was over cooked and extremely hard ) my pulled pork and chips was freezing, as they was under the heat lamp for a good 10 mins before someone brought them to me ( we was sat across from the serving station ) my partner had a steak which took 45 mins to get to him, he asked it to be medium rare came out practically blue, the steak was full of stringy fat not just a little but there was loads, he also had the fire pit beans these was freezing and rock solid, wasn’t edible at all. But not once did the waitress come out to check if our food was ok, nobody did… we asked for the bill she came back our and again didn’t ask us if everything was ok, she said do you want desserts I said no as we didn’t enjoy the food and it wasn’t very good she then walked away didn’t even say a word brought us our bill ready to pay, I’m highly disappointed in smoke bbq. We won’t be returning and I will be letting people know how bad our experience was there

Burnt ends and beef rib were delicious, brisket was a bit dry but otherwise tasty. The atmosphere and service was great, the lady who served us was really friendly and even surprised my partner with a birthday brownie. 9/10 :)

Great meat choices on the menu. I had the ham hock and it was huge. Beer selection is good if you like salt brewery. It was busy when we were in there but staff coped very well under pressure. I must add aswell, the BBQ sauce available on all tables was very very good but I forgot the brand.

I wouldn't bother. The in house lager was good but the brisketplate was tirwd and ahowed little sign of having been cooked today. The staff were not bothered that the item they recommended would have been disappointing if served up in any setting.

Visited for a birthday. Food was lovely but im unsure if we booked at a difficult time ( 3pm) or if this is usual but a lot of items we wanted were not available. Only one star deducted though because the food we had was melt in the mouth and delicious. We also would have prefered a different table as there were several others free but we were declined even though no one arrived in those tables for the duration of our stay. I dont know the ins and outs of the reservation system though so i will just call next time to book so i can specify, no big deal. All in all will return!

Went with my daughter for my birthday. I ordered pork belly and my daughter had chicken wings . Firstly food came out really quick which I found odd . Secondly I had to send pork belly back because it wasn't hot not even warm . My daughter's chicken was literally just bones hardly any chicken I had to take her to McDonald's after because she was still hungry. Iv wanted to go to smoke barbecue since it opened but sadly won't return . Undercooked food , small portions and poor food quality.

Came for a bottomless brunch which is 2 hours - they probably give a long time because the service is so slow! We only ended up having 4/5 cocktails in that time because we were waiting so long to be served and were having to flag staff down rather than them come over. The food was really nice however the menu online is different to in the restaurant so we ordered an extra side of chips not realising it came with chips as the online menu didn't say that (which is our fault for not reading but you'd think the waitress would double check especially as we waited ages for the menu to be printed as they didnt have any). From our brunch finishing, we were there another 45 minutes waiting for our bill and to pay. Again, had to flag staff down and they weren't exactly friendly or asked how our visit was. We were only in Sheffield for half a day so wasting 45 minutes waiting to pay took up a big chunk of the time.

We booked to have A meal Saturday afternoon We all ordered the food when it arrived it was cold so asked to speak to a manager who came over and said I will test it for temperature thinking He had a probe to test the temperature of the food, but no He picked a chip up. And put it between two of his fingers and said yes, this is cold. I will replace your meal which he did but when they came out they was no better The belly had no colour whatsoever to say it had been on a barbecue The fat was soft and runny. The manager came over and offered a discount But we was all looking forward to having a lovely meal, but this wasn’t would love to hear from the owners. Why nothing was barbecued. There were no colour on any of the meats whatsoever. Hoping for response

Way better than expected. The food was banging! Would highly recommend anyone who likes meat to go here! Massive portions, great quality meat, and very fast service. Think it took nearly as long to get a drink as the food to be brought out. If I'm out in Sheffield again, I'll be back

Great BBQ. Definitely keto friendly. Right in the center of town, so quite convenient. You can order with sauce or without - they are totally flexible. Staff were all super friendly without overdoing it in any way. Setting has great, open feel with high ceilings and enough space between tables that you don't jostle your neighbors on your way to or from your seat. Good food served by upbeat staff in a friendly space. It gets even better: They recently added tacos to the menu. Tacos + BBQ = true love. Joe Bob says, "Check it out."

We booked in advance because we were celebrating a 21st birthday and I requested a nice table. After booking online, we were sent an email to take advantage of the January 30% off food promotion. Upon arriving, we were shown a booth table towards the side of the restaurant beside where they hold the condiments and high chairs.... not really a 'nice table'. None the less, the birthday girl received a complimentary cocktail so was OK staying put, so we set about ordering. It was a while for food to arrive but we weren't in any rush, however we were missing a meal and it proved difficult to grab anyone's attention to get this rectified and then longer for the missing food to come, also some of the food was cold and meat quite dry....sadly. We had hope to order more drinks but were reminded that we only had a certain period of time to vacate the table..... so all things considered, a very disappointing visit. Doubt we'll be back

Lovely staff but food let it down. My husbands burger was like a child's portion so if you're hungry double up in everything! I had the brisket and it was the driest meat I've ever eaten. No sauce or flavour - the burnt ends had a glaze which was nice but again super dry! Real shame as we were really looking forward to eating here.

Enjoyed a fab meal before the theatre.

A must-go for the area, blends spices and flavours better than anywhere else. Portion sizes are fantastic and the drinks selection is brilliant too.
