Delicious, Freshly Cooked Food! The food was perfectly cooked, wrapped in traditional paper instead of plasticāfresh, hot, and of outstanding quality. Truly excellent value for money. Itās refreshing to see a chip shop that maintains such high standards, avoiding overpriced options with poor service and low quality. Absolutely fantastic! Thanks for restoring our faith in great Fish and Chips! other chip shops need to learn by this!

Food was edible but average. Large breakfast was missing black pudding, mushrooms and hash brown. These could be purchased as an extra but for me should form part of the meal. I'd rather have one less egg and pay extra for a full breakfast. My toast was burnt but my wife's had barely touched the toaster. Eggs were and sausages were overcooked. I suspect the sausages had been sat in the bain marie for some time. Also, the beans were running into the tinned tomatoes - they need separating. No Could be really nice with just a little attention to detail. Price was a little high for the quality of the produce. Doubt I'll use again.

We were on a long drive and picked Llandrindod as our lunch stop. Chose Portland for its proximity to our one-hour parking space. Windows looked like they needed a wipe and the lobby a bit tired but we hadn't long. HOWEVER! The interior was beautifully clean and cosy, and many tables already taken even though it was early for lunchtime, so it's obviously popular. Decent WC, too. We had lovely sandwiches. Very reasonable prices, quick service although clearly fresh food not ready made, and the staff are friendly. Please note, cash only (or was that day).

Christmas lunch 2023, Ā£90 per head. Utter disappointment and a truly Fawlty Towers-esque experience. We had to laugh as it was Christmas Day but it was really awful. No one in reception, sign saying go to the bar. No one in the bar, eventually found a passing member of staff and we were directed to where Christmas lunch was happening. Through a door with a large sign saying ātoiletsā past a kitchen set up and into what I assume is their banqueting space. We managed to catch someoneās eye and rather than being shown to our table we were waved in the general direction and had to please ourselves. After ten minutes of just sitting there I had to get up and ask a nearby waitress to take our drinks order. She seemed a little bit surprised we wanted drinksā¦ Eventually some drinks arrived but it would take four more times asking for some water for the table before it came. Starters came out eventually and were fine. We then thought it would be nice to have some wineā¦. Me- could we have some wine please? Waitress- ā¦ā¦ā¦.. Me- do you have a wine list? Waitress- ā¦..not really a wine list noā¦ā¦ what were you thinking ofā¦ā¦. Me- maybe some white wine? Nice and dry? Maybe something from New Zealand? Waitress- ermā¦. I think we have a Pinot?? I donāt know about wine, Iām the wedding plannerā¦.. Me- ok letās try the Pinotā¦ Screw top of Italian Pinot Grigio plonked on the table and three glasses plonked down upside downā¦.. By this point we really needed the wine! Mains were served, plated turkey dinner. We wait patiently for the dish of veg seen in the middle of all the other tables. It doesnāt arrive. I catch the eye of the waitress and enquireā¦. In her words āhmmm, they have run out of veg and thereās no more. Iām not sure what the plan isā¦.ā No apology, nil, nada. Not five mins later we see veg sailing out to other tablets. At this point not even the wine is enough to soothe and we managed to ask the only sensible member of staff in the place, who magics up some veg asap. I could go on but I wonāt. What the experience lacked in terms of service, it make up for in sheer comedy value but was daylight robbery for what we actually had. Hey ho! Update- very kindly the venue read my review and got back to me directly without me having to chase. They kindly refunded the cost of a bottle of wine and Ā£15 per head. To be clear, the food was fine, I think we expected a little more for the price though, maybe a glass of fizz on arrival, coffee and petit fours after the meal etc. Kelly was fab on the day and when replying. The rest of the service was poor as described as above.

A sunny Saturday evening and no restaurants in town had any space, so our only option was the chippy. Well how fortunate we were. The food was brilliant, well cooked and great tasting batter on the thick cod portions, delicious chips and mushy peas just as they should be. Helpful friendly staff advised us of an idyllic spot to sit and eat our order on the old bridge over the river. It was a delight to sit over the river and savour our evening meal out of the paper . If we are in the area again we will not hesitate to go back for seconds, keep up the great work guys! Best wishes for continued success, John and Caroline

Visited here on a Saturday evening as a party of five. The service was very slow but the food was of a decent standard. In short, every item we ordered had between 55p and Ā£2 added to their menu price with an additional 10% on top. Unfortunately we didn't realise this until leaving and would've had every right to refuse to pay the prices that weren't advertised. Please see below for the long version of my review... On receiving the bill for the meal we realised the total amount was incorrect (Ā£10 more) and queried this with the waiter. The waiter stated that he had added on 10% and said "this is what we do now" and then walked away. When we were about to pay for the meal, the waiter saw we wanted to pay by card and said it was cash only..this was not made clear on entering the restaurant or when we made our order. We didn't have cash so had to leave the restaurant and walk to the closest cash point 5 minutes down the road. On leaving the restaurant we checked the menu we were given on leaving and realised not only had 10% been added to the bill but all of our dishes had between 55p and Ā£2 added to their menu price. I understand prices have risen for everyone but this seemed like a sneaky tactic and we would've had every right to refuse to pay the additional cost for the meal.

We went to this restaurant with mixed feelings as reviews werenāt that great but we gave it a try . We were the only customers on arrival but the waitress was less than enthusiastic . Food was good and freshly cooked but the place lacked atmosphere . A customer behind us asked if there was any soup . Waitress replied ā is it on the menuā( you think she would know or was she being facetious.) she then said ā itās too hot for soup. Try the caprese or the tart ā . Had I been him I would have walked out.

The staff are so friendly, accommodating and patient. The room's are basic but what more do you need. I have a 4 month old I had left at home with his dad, so I had to pump my breast milk and rather than throw away the milk they stored it in the freezer for me and even gave me frozen packs to travel home with. My milk was still frozen solid so nice that they did this for me. All the weekend activities were planned from Merlins, call of the wild and they were on time, really well planned and the team were fun and helpful, we all enjoyed the absailing, rock climbing and gorge walking and this was a group of 16 hung over girls. Thanks for a lovely stay. The village is lovely also. Very memorable stay and would recommend. š
