Went here whilst visiting the area for a birthday. Everything about this place was amazing. Loads of drink choice, big portions and tasted amazing! Definitely recommend.
We came here today, and the staff were very rude. No pleases or thank you. Manners guy's. Tables were a mess and not cleared away. Drawing pin sticking upwards by the till too.
Cost of lunch £35
Paper Napkin wrapping the cutlery had a ‘chocolatey’ looking fingerprint on it . Yuck!
Luke warm baked potato . No butter. Too little cheese but potato was too cold to melt it anyway .
Two slices of bacon put on top of the potatoes. Not freshly cooked as it was almost un-cuttable. Texture of leather.
5 x pieces diced cucumber
1/2 cherry tomato
1/2 lettuce leaf
Not sure if there was dressing
1x tbsp of shop bought coleslaw
Side order of undercooked frozen chips
Side order onion rings - edible
This is not a complicated ‘meal’ to create.
DO BETTER or at least offer a refund
Always go here when I am in Brecon, everyone so friendly and helpful. Also caters for those needing a gluten free diet. Lovely food and can sit inside to eat. Thankyou
We visited twice. The first visit we waited over an hour for food to be told the chef had gone home and there was not food available. We should of seen this as a warning sign. We then visited again my lasagne was awful no pasta, very small and was cremated at the edges. The pie was like water pepper and meat. Then my brother in law was served ribs stone cold , no apology and was told they would reheat the meat, we had to ask for a refund. No one came back to apologise and ask if our food was okay too. 40 minutes after we ate, the table had still not been cleared. We will never eat here again.
I ordered a panini, having enjoyed one on a previous occasion. When it arrived, it was a wrap which had been toasted. It was very hard and impossible to eat. Had I been told that a "panini" wasn't actually a panini, I would have ordered something else. Disappointed as I have been here many times and always enjoyed my meal.
Christmas Lunch here, on Christmas Day, priced at £76.00 per head (excluding drinks) one would be forgiven for thinking this was going to be something special...Frankly everything from the service to the food was a disgrace. Two slices of cold turkey, two undercooked roast potatoes, one parsnip and one 'pig-in-blanket', served with cold, soft vegetables on the side and cold gravy...
A huge disappointment and shocked at the nerve of this establishment charging these prices for such a poor product - AVOID!
Oh dear, what has happened to the menu! We have eaten many times here and the food has generally been consistent and the menu sensibly priced and with a good variety of dishes. Our previous visit was about 3 or 4 months ago so I assumed we would get the same or similar menu. My bad for not checking; the old menu has been replaced by pretentious French described dishes (why?!) and a huge price hike across the board. We chose the King Prawns Risotto, overpriced at £18.50. The dish was garnished with one king prawn, no more: the rice was tasty enough but the dish very poor value for money. Regrettably, we won't be returning, such a shame after an association with the hotel restaurant over many years. I suspect many people, like us, will vote with their feet. Nearby Crickhowell has much to offer on the dining front.
We had a few drinks here one day and a full 3 course Sunday lunch the next. The place is lovely inside, lots of lovely touches and the beer is good! Hawkstone beer and cider and Guinness.
But the show case was the Sunday lunch, there was 7 of us including a veggie, and every bit of the food was stunning! Don’t miss out if you’re in the area!!
Delicious, Freshly Cooked Food!
The food was perfectly cooked, wrapped in traditional paper instead of plastic—fresh, hot, and of outstanding quality. Truly excellent value for money.
It’s refreshing to see a chip shop that maintains such high standards, avoiding overpriced options with poor service and low quality.
Absolutely fantastic! Thanks for restoring our faith in great Fish and Chips!
other chip shops need to learn by this!
I took my parents to "The Laughing Dog" for Sunday Lunch.
It must be our umpenth visit as we always doing the food so good.
The portion sizes are great too 😊
I had the duck and it was cooked to perfection.
One wouldn't be disappointed eating at "The Laughing Dog"
