Had a delicious breakfast here today, the staff were welcoming, friendly and very attentive. The cafe itself is decorated lovely and in a nice setting. Lovely bacon, egg cooked to perfection, and real butter!
We have stayed at the Wynnstay for the Machynlleth Comedy Festival for the last three years & have booked again for next year's Festival the location is perfect & the staff are kind & extremely hard working. The breakfasts are delicious with lots of choice. I particularly love the smoked haddock with poached eggs. The rooms themselves could do with a lick of paint, but are clean & well equipped. Would highly recommend staying here.
Surprised to read some of the reviews on here. Great little find on camper van app, we called and emailed and had positive replies. We stayed in our van on our travels in the carpark, great peaceful night with not a lot of lighting, had good Ale on tap (Doom Bar) and had a great steak and fish tea.
Great service and friendly staff, it wasn’t too busy for a Saturday but in the current climate and its rural location isn’t this to be expected.
We are planning another local walk in the new year and will be back
Food is good but getting far to expensive, I use to go regularly, each week, but I've not been since 1 sausage roll cost £1.30,,,,4 bites and it's gone
Went here whilst visiting the area for a birthday. Everything about this place was amazing. Loads of drink choice, big portions and tasted amazing! Definitely recommend.
Went for a Birthday meal with the wife and I was really disappointed with the meal I had. I ordered the 10oz Aberdeen Angus Fillet steak cooked medium. When the meal arrived the plate looked really disappointing. Two small 5oz fillets that were only just about warm. A small piece of Onion Cake. One small quarter of a tomato and some pea shoots and to make it worse the Bone Marrow sauce I ordered was cold and congealed. The steak has a small pat of butter on top that didn't melt at all and it was the same when I moved it on to the plate as this was also cold. I mentioned this to Tom the waiter who felt the plate and agreed that it was cold. My wife wanted a glass of Prosecco to go with her meal so when we asked the waiter who delivered our chips he said that he wasnt trained to do that but would ask someone else. In the end half way through her meal we had to ask a Floor Manager for the drink who then sorted us out. We go quite regularly to Miller and Carter and this was by far the worst meal we had. It was if my plate had been laid up by the chef but then left to stand for quite a few minutes. There seemed to be a lot less staff then normal and the presentation of the food was extremely poor. I will give it another chance and they did knock 20% off the final bill which was appreciated. I was so disappointed and my wife was really upset as she was treating me as it was a Big Birthday and she kept apologising to me when it should have been Miller and Carter doing the apologising. A sad end to a good day.
A hotel with split personality. The modern part is fantastic and very desirable to be in. The other is clean and well serviced but suffers from creaking floors and tight turns. Character some call it. Breakfast was fantastic!
We always come here for dinner when I'm down visiting my friend.
Usually the service is very good, a bit slow but on the whole ok.
Well I'm not sure who he is but the man behind the bar this evening was down right rude. No customer service skills what so ever. Now I know the landlady can be abrupt at times, but taking this guy on is a recipe for disaster. Get him gone. Description, beard and glasses, scruffy looking.
We looked at pubs locally that were dog friendly, we arrived ahead with one dog and 12 people following only to be told they had no dog friendly spaces available. Very disappointed we only wanted a quick drink so went to the lion hotel instead very welcoming with good beer, don’t bother with the horseshoes go to the lion hotel instead or the nags head
