Came for some dinner when we were passing through with our family. When I came into the pub bit I was initially wary (just because it was a bar and we had kids) but the menu was good and we decided to give it a go. We were seated in a separate room away from the bar. Food was very good, service was fast and friendly and it was good value for money. We all enjoyed it.

Average food, saw mice running out of the kitchen and the ginger teenager proceed to tell me they were "pets". I believe I caught "Typhoids" from the food in this place, they said the pet rat "Dave" contaminated my bacon and eggs. The ginger man then proceeded to lick ketchup from my plate after taking it for "Washing up". Apart from these odd events, I quite enjoyed my time in the fountain inn and would recommend it anyone looking to find angry ginger dwarfs roaming the place.

Had a great meal here, parked on the street outside, very, very friendly and great service. My wife has a lot of food intolerances and the staff made completely sure she could order a suitable meal and were very understanding and polite. The food came quickly, and the portions were a great size, no chance of leaving hungry. The food was very tasty, the “homemade” lasagne was full of flavour and I’m confident was homemade, forget the factory made servings in the well known chains, this was full of meat, tomato and cheese and all the food was piping hot. Other than my favourite Italian restaurant and mother in law, this was definitely the next best lasagne I’ve had the pleasure to eat, as I said to my wife, you can tell the quality of an establishment by the quality of the lasagne.

Order two meals called the mega breakfast which included two drinks. When the breakfast arrived it became obvious that the toast was hiding burnt bacon, on complaining the girl that served looked at me and I asked her why was the toast and bacon burnt. On tasting the beans it became apparent that the beans were microwave. The rest of the food was cold. The girl looked at me and smirked I asked her why she thought it to be funny, she just walked off rudely. No one else came to ask us if the food was OK. Will not come back.

Great set up, good beer and service, excellent food and customer service was brilliant. Only downside was accessibly to pub when using a wheelchair, from the back its impossible as steep stairs, deep step into pub at front. Not suitable for full time users unless you are experienced getting up and down deep steps

Stopped here for a drink on our first night in Builth Wells, and decided to eat there too, because the specials board offerings sounded so good.Bar has tall plastic screens to protect staff, and you are asked not to stand at the bar. We werent asked for our details for track and trace, but there were posters where you could scan the q-code, althouhg this only works if you have a mobile, and one that can scan this sort of code too.Good outside area and table well spaced too.We had a laugh with the bar-lady because it was taking a bit of effort to pour the beer which was certainly foaming. Totally made to feel very welcome in there. The food was tasty, a decent portion, and good value. I had the butternut squash curry which was lush, and hubby went for the st Davids chicken, also lush.Be more than happy to eat or drink here again when we next visit the area.

My family and I went to the Fountain Inn, looking for food and somewhere that would allow our dogs. The bar staff were very friendly, the beer was great, the locals were welcoming with fantastic singing voices! However, we were disappointed with the food. The chips were completely burnt and inedible. We asked for replacements but were told that “all my potatoes are turning brown! - I’ve cleaned the fryer out but don’t know what to do!” We said we’d be happy to keep the food but have fresh chips... which never turned up...! My lasagne also had a very hard burnt section. The Mrs has the tikka masala which was luke warm at best. Each meal cost £8.50.....My advice would be to go to this pub, enjoy the atmosphere and a good beer. If you want food, you can’t go wrong with the panini, my son thoroughly enjoyed this!

The pastry on my wife's steak pie was inedible and the meat and vegetable filling was like something out of a tin. The chips were a dark brown colour and cold. We couldn't wait to get out of the pub and didn't bother to complain. A pub serving such dire food to a customer in the first place is unlikely to accept a comment on their fare.

They have regular event nights such as 'build a burger' night. The staff have a warm and welcoming approach to the customers. The Fountain cafe staff couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming to us. No, the internal decor isn't super modern or fancy, but the it's clean and functional, does a good hot breakfast and was exactly what we needed. The Fountain reminds me of how pubs used to be years ago (without the smoking indoors!) it has a great selection of reasonably priced beers and ales and decent pub grub too. It is quiet during the day, a nice place to grab breakfast or lunch with a coffee and a read of the day's newspaper and it gets progressively louder and livelier towards the evening and especially the weekends. Expect to be involved in conversation by at least one of the local characters. They love to find out where people are visiting from and why you're visiting Builth Wells. If you're open to it, you could very well find yourself involved in an impromptu pool, darts or quoits match..! The Fountain has music (live and jukebox) and sports on TV. The staff and local customers are passionate about their rugby so don't expect anything else to be on when Wales are playing..! Whenever I'm in the UK, I make time for a visit to Builth Wells and always end up in the Fountain.

I ordered a home cooked lasagne, when it arrived it was lukewarm inside so I sent it back to be reheated. It looked a bit overdone when returned to me and by the time I was halfway through it it has started to dry up.( Food that has been microwaved continues to cook for a couple of minutes afterwards) The topping went tough like leather and I couldn't eat it so the lovely cheesy topping was wasted. I waited for the waitress to clear the table so I could tell her but we we just left staring at dirty plates. Twice she came to the door looked and went back....I think she was waiting 'til we went. We gave up and left disgusted with the service .Oh yes and my side salad consisted of a few strands of lettuce , 2 strands of onion 1 piece of cucumber cut in to 2 and NO tomato. I didn't like to complain about it as I had already sent my lasagne back and didn't want to look like a "complainer" . I would never go back !

Visited The Fountain today for a light lunch and a round of drinks. I understand it is Royal Welsh week, this is the only reason we were here. On ordering at the bar the service was extremely poor with the bar staff showing an obvious attitude they didn't want to be there. Waited over an hour for our food, the order was lost! The place wasn't even busy. Now I understand why!! They even lost the order of the customer who ordered in front of me! Once we queried where our order was it arrived within 10 minutes with one incorrect meal and the other missing. On top of this more than one meal was not up to its description. Received a simple sorry from the staff and on our complaint they weren't interested. This place is a no go!

The additional outside bar made getting our drinks easy and the service inside was professional and efficient too. On Sunday we chose to have the carvery lunch; choice of 3 meats and basic selection of veg, but it was fresh, tasty and good value. As the weather was excellent we chose to take it outside to eat. Went to the Fountain Inn during a weekend event at the Royal Welsh Showground. We were camping and they put on a free tractor trailer ride into the town and provided live music free of charge. The local band we saw on the Saturday afternoon eclipsed the paid bands at the main event (in my opinion) and we ended up staying the whole afternoon and then having dinner before returning to the campsite. Food was excellent and served fairly quickly considering how busy the place was. I had Ham, Egg & Chips (basic I know, but it was fantastic). My husband o had the home-made lasagne and that was also very tasty. The effort that the owners and the team put into making our weekend the very best they could was faultless. We will definitely return to here and have already pencilled in dates! A great atmosphere with outside seating at the back, overlooking the river. Marquee was set up for the weekend with bands playing on a stage (outside bar also provided). Not sure if marquee up all the time, but was great for us.Can't recommend highly enough!

Myself and a group of friends stated in Builth Wells for a weekend. We attended The Fountain initially on the Saturday night where it was buzzing! There was a live band which catered for all tastes! Drinks were cheap at £2.80 a pint and £3 for a double! The only downside was there was a choice of only 1 real ale and the pub did get busier as the evening went on! The next day we returned for Sunday lunch. They have a menu of simple, good value pub food aswell as lighter cafe style pannis and baguettes! We all opted for the carvery style sunday dinner there was a choice of beef, lamb or chicken with all you can eat veg and trimmings! The gravy is to for and there is even a veggie carvery option! With a cafe area, a public bar and an upstairs dining room this place as something for everyone! Great value food, drink and helpful staff makes this place well worth a visit!

I Searched on Google for places open in Brecon at the time we were there, This looked good in images with a menu to suit us, so we went in, Almost immediately realised the menu I read on line with photos, was for food in packets pre made and warmed up not fresh prepared, Cold sausage panini cold bacon in paninis, cheese and mushroom on toast pre made, in a fridge wrapped in plastic packets did not scream quality, bit like costa food, all to be warmed up or re heated was not what I hoped or indeed bought, re heated bacon or re heated sausage did not inspire me. Instead, we had a coffee and a hot chocolate which were good, and a Croissant and Pan au Chocolate and were really only...OK. The building is interesting and full of character lovely in fact with a lot of effort with great design. But the lack of on premises prepared food of the type we went in to buy, the lack of cleanliness of building with dirty windows with cobwebs decorating the corners of where we sat, broken light fitting above us and others with many dead insects inside did little to impress. We felt like we interrupted the staff by ordering food, who were deep in conversation with each other when we came in and continued deep in conversation while we ordered. We were hungry and thirsty, so we had something to eat and drink to tide us over. Such a shame with a beautiful building nicely decorated full of style. Look like someone had made a lot of effort setting up this business but not day to day running of it. If in Brecon I would suggest looking around at others as there are many, as the online image of this did not match reality in many areas. Or at least on the day we visited. We a little later ate elsewhere in Brecon which was all fine. Maybe we just arrived on a bad day.

Tried to blame us for taking the lid off that it wasnt warm! Bed was unmade with no bottom sheet. Did not recieve an email with terms and conditions about bbq’s on the grass which id say having signs for people to see no bbq’s on the grass would be more obvious! Tried to fine us 100£ for the grass and 200£ for leaves being in the hot tub when i dont understand how you can avoid that if your in the hot tub most of the day/night with trees surrounding your pod! Just another excuse! We didn’t get the chance to use the hot tub! Filled us with excuses from the moment we got there promised the hot tub would be warm by 9 and then it went to theyll empty and refill with warm water instead, but that didnt happen! Also ignored any repsonsibility to answer our questions on when the hot tub would be useable! Could have saved ourselves £120 and stayed at home in our garden! Our third stay there and thats our thanks! Would not recommend or return!

Nice little traditional cafe not too far from The Lake. They have a one way system in & out of the cafe (reminded me of Covid times !!!) However, staff were friendly & food was good. Clean & tidy rest room facilities too.
