We visited this restaurant last night. We arrived and had the jovial waiter. We placed our order for the food and for the wine and a non alcoholic beer. The starter arrived lots of Olives but no balsamic vinegar. The starters went and then came the main meal, still no wine or drinks arrived. Then another waitress asked if we would like a drink and we said we had ordered wine, I will chase it, it still never came. Then the waiter came over asking if we would like to order some drinks, we said we had he said what and we said no 8 for the wine, we were told it was out of stock, so we had another choice. The res wine eventually arrived cold. The steak was not cooked how I had asked, covered in a gravy and I asked for a steak knife and the waiter just changed one knife for another the same. I did ask the waiter what was the gravy and he had no idea

Had lunch here yesterday while staying in the area. The menu is quite limited, which we like, as it tends to mean the food will be of good quality. We were not disappointed. I had the mushroom ravioli, my husband and Mum both had the gnocchi with venison ragu, and our 10-year-old had the meatballs. All of it was delicious, and clearly freshly cooked. This is one of the few authentic Italian restaurants we have been to in the UK, with the food actually tasting as good as in Italy. Service was great and friendly too.

We went to this restaurant with mixed feelings as reviews weren’t that great but we gave it a try . We were the only customers on arrival but the waitress was less than enthusiastic . Food was good and freshly cooked but the place lacked atmosphere . A customer behind us asked if there was any soup . Waitress replied “ is it on the menu”( you think she would know or was she being facetious.) she then said “ it’s too hot for soup. Try the caprese or the tart “ . Had I been him I would have walked out.

If you enjoy paying £9 for 4 slices of tomato and some mozzarella then this place is for you! But be forewarned - do not ask the server for garlic bread. Even though this is supposed to be an Italian restaurant, garlic bread is not on the menu, and if you make the mistake of asking for some then the waitress will inform you in the most disdainful way possible that "garlic bread is NOT on the menu". So be prepared to be promptly put in your place. To be fair, the food itself was very good, but the prices seemed very high for what you get. Be prepared to pay £15 for a small bowl of pasta for your first course alone. We don't mind paying for a special meal and dining experience, but we found the atmosphere was very uncomfortable. Sitting one foot away from the next table added to the discomfort. The disdainful server made us just want to pay up and get out. If you're looking for a real Italian restaurant with generous traditional Italian dishes in a warm and welcoming atmosphere then this is not it. If high priced and pretentious is what you're after, then maybe you'll enjoy it.

Two coffees (decaf flat white) and two croissants. This came to an eye watering £14.40. The coffee tasted as if it had been watered down, twice. Precious little flavour, frankly it was undrinkable. If you're going to charge London prices, then please, make it worthwhile, and put some effort into creating a decent product. Perhaps take a leaf out of the nearby Workhouse - their coffee is excellent.

Our booking was for early evening as we were off to The Assembly Rooms for a gig. We were welcomed warmly and shown to our table, the menu was not too ‘busy’ and tempting; we had just shared bread and olives to start and the olive oil was nutty and tasty, we all had the wild boar after which was perfectly cooked, and as they put the plate down, smelt mouthwatering! Within a short time the other tables filled but even without that it felt comfortable for just our table of four. The only downside was the cheapest wine was £23, a house Chianti would have given this 5 stars. Will definitely return and have already recommended it!

Small impressive interior. The lady out front was very busy on her own, felt sorry for her having to deal with drinks, orders, clearing tables and the till. It made the atmosphere feel awkward. Food looked great that was coming out of the kitchen and smelt delicious. We ordered drinks and cake. Coffee was OK, cake was very dry. £14.65 for 2 coffees and dry cake. Will still return as the front of house lady was doing her best, she just needed help.!!

To find a restaurant of this standard under the radar and off the beaten track is rarity, the food was fresh and very Italian the ambiance was joyful and staff very accommodating.

Our food took 30 minutes to arrive. When it finally came the portions were minute. I politely complained, and sympathetically suggested that perhaps they had a staff shortage, only to be told that the kitchen was too small… so why even bother? no apologies,,,,

Once again, a lovely evening out. The restaurant was full with only one wait staff on but she was great. Thumbs up for the gnocchi with wild venison ragu and the sea bass with fennel and white beans. Hot, fresh and delicious. Already looking forward to coming back.

An early Saturday evening dinner. Family of 4 adults. Lovely little restaurant with an interesting menu. The staff were great and the food excellent, special mention for the meatball gratin starter (add a side of pasta and this would be a great main course too) and the wild mushroom ravioli. 3 of us had the rabbit ragu which was delicious (watch out for the little bones, have you ever tried to debone a rabbit!) Wine list is good and decent value, and there’s plenty of beer/cider and soft drink options. The only reason for a less than perfect score was the fact it lacked a little atmosphere, some background music would be great. Will definitely visit again as I want to try the gnocchi with venison ragu if it’s still on.

We ordered 3 meals but one meal did not arrive until we had finished the other two meals. The late meal was requested to be without an ingredient but unfortunately this was still included on the meal. Unfortunately there was no apology, or offer to rectify this hence the one star review.

Food and atmosphere was phenomenal. All the staff were friendly, attentive and caring. The steak was out of this world, cooked to perfection and the special wild thyme sauce was a beautiful, unexpected compliment to an already perfect steak. It was worth every penny! My girlfriend and I will definitely visit again if we are ever in the area! 10/10, words can not do this place justice!

The best ravioli I had the pleasure of eating and one of the most delicious steaks. I love the atmosphere and feel of this, place and can't wait to return to Presteigne to feast se more.

The steak was a disgrace tough and not well cooked when I complained the waitress was not interested. Things did not start well when we arrived the staff ignored us and continued chatting for several minutes. Also we know someone who had undercooked fish and when they complained were ignored after they left the waitress told another diner what a pain she had been! Quests what the diner was the son of the woman! Really awful service would never go back

The wife and I needed a light lunch while visiting Presteigne and came across this place. Pleasant staff served up wonderful Pesto Linguine & Tart. Perfectly light and well seasoned. I wasn’t planning on eating more but overheard tiramisu was on the menu and had to try it and had a generous portion of my favourite dessert. Highly recommended if you’re in the area
