Merlins in Powys

The staff are so friendly, accommodating and patient. The room's are basic but what more do you need. I have a 4 month old I had left at home with his dad, so I had to pump my breast milk and rather than throw away the milk they stored it in the freezer for me and even gave me frozen packs to travel home with. My milk was still frozen solid so nice that they did this for me. All the weekend activities were planned from Merlins, call of the wild and they were on time, really well planned and the team were fun and helpful, we all enjoyed the absailing, rock climbing and gorge walking and this was a group of 16 hung over girls. Thanks for a lovely stay. The village is lovely also. Very memorable stay and would recommend. 😀

Food was fine. I misread the menu and was greeted with rolling eyes and an unpleasant attitude even though I apologised for my mistake. This totally put me off my lunch. I live locally but will not be going back. There are other nice cafes in the area where the staff are lovely.

Always a warm welcome. Always very good portions and the food is always tasty. Akways happy to go back there time and time again.

I’ve never stayed in a hostel and I was pleasantly surprised how clean and nice it was after some of my friends had travelled and told me horror stories I was a bit worried about it. I stayed in a room with 13 beds and it was very comfy and had WiFi and clean toilets and to me that’s all you need...ooo....and breakfast was also good

Lovely meal, pleasent and friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Can't wait to visit again in a few weeks.

Had a breakfast bagette asked for no bacon and exta mushrooms still got given bacon. Had to send it back as the eggs were not cooked. Cheese on toast. Couldnt tell there was cheese on it one little slice when askedbof tgere was cheese on there the girl laughed and said well yeah. Scrambled egg on toast. Toast not half cooked.

Large ,airy ,plenty of seating .Busy when we visited but not surprised.Plenty of choice and very reasonable prices .Lovely staff,really friendly ,very relaxed .

Coffee and a bacon roll first thing. Good service, airy and spacious place, nice coffee, and the bacon roll came in a surprisingly tasty seed bun. Very tasty!

Good honest fare . The restaurant is perfect for a meal with friends . Good every day menu , friendly staff and reasonable prices .

Went here for cup of coffee. Very good and reasonable. will go again. Next time I will try the food, but for a coffee it was decent enough.

had a lovely meal in here with my mum and husband. my mum had the faggots and peas she had not had them for years... she said they were great.

Recommended by my wife and I can see why. The best full English/Welsh I have had for a long time. With toast and tea - for a very reasonable price. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere - complete with free wifi - what more could you want ?

I always go there for a breakfast. I am a veggie and my wife and son are both meat eaters. There isn't anywhere local that do a decent breakfast for non meat eaters. I really like the staff who are friendly and always quick to serve. It is hot and plentiful. It is not a high end breakfast but really tasty and very very filling. I love the place!

If you want a good traditional breakfast, this is the place to go. Forget frills and flounces, this is just good honest grub. Thoroughly recommend for hungry travellers...

Love Merlin's for a spot of breakfast, always well cooked and served with toast and a big brew. Love that the TV is on, and that I can look at an avon catalogue and place an order from the local lady if I wish! Plenty of papers. A great place to meet with friends, or have a cheeky big brekkie on your own! A great place to meet the locals.

Bunk beds and tatty finish and carpets, yet very clean and incredibly friendly and caring staff. Hot ensuite showers and a fulsome traditional breakfast. The menu is basic yet plentiful and wholesome.More about carbs and meat than vegetables

Not bad for the location. Standard fayre at a reasonable price. Average service. Lacks any sort of ambiance but is a step up from being a greasy spoon.

This is a regular meeting place for my friends and I. The food never disappoints and the service and ambience is great. The grandchildren enjoy eating here too and they are always made a fuss over and welcomed by the staff. It's a place that suits all ages. Plenty of choice of things to eat.
