Ginger Leaf in Powys

Visited here on a Saturday evening as a party of five. The service was very slow but the food was of a decent standard. In short, every item we ordered had between 55p and £2 added to their menu price with an additional 10% on top. Unfortunately we didn't realise this until leaving and would've had every right to refuse to pay the prices that weren't advertised. Please see below for the long version of my review... On receiving the bill for the meal we realised the total amount was incorrect (£10 more) and queried this with the waiter. The waiter stated that he had added on 10% and said "this is what we do now" and then walked away. When we were about to pay for the meal, the waiter saw we wanted to pay by card and said it was cash only..this was not made clear on entering the restaurant or when we made our order. We didn't have cash so had to leave the restaurant and walk to the closest cash point 5 minutes down the road. On leaving the restaurant we checked the menu we were given on leaving and realised not only had 10% been added to the bill but all of our dishes had between 55p and £2 added to their menu price. I understand prices have risen for everyone but this seemed like a sneaky tactic and we would've had every right to refuse to pay the additional cost for the meal.

We went there for my birthday. We had an excellent service from the staff throughout the evening.Tasty food, large portions and they bagged up the rest to take home. Highly recommended.

The food is lovely and the boss is soo nice I come three times a week to have food they have great service aswell

Visited this lovely restaurant with very welcoming and polite staff this evening. Extensive menu, flavours were outstanding especially the Modu and Mango Butter Chicken. Will definitely visit again next time in Builth. Amazing food.

Came to visit mid wales with a couple of friends and as we stop off at rural Bulith wells, we got hungry and stop at ginger leaf got to say it didn’t disappoint food, service excellent, Mo was very helpful and guided us while browsing the menu to make the right choices, try the north indain lamb curry with a garlic rice thank you once again and if we are around this part of wales, we’ll definitely visit again. Second take away this year , I put the first down to chef having a bad day. Chef is still having a bad day and clearly taken a substantial pay rise. About six bits of lamb.£30 for two meals and a starter. The taste of salt was overwhelming in both meals, to the point of dehydration.

Went on the last night of the show. Had Chicken dupiaza, korma and pathia. Collection point is really good, you can see them cooking. Kids and mrs very particular of their food - they enjoyed it. vegetables were really well cooked and chicken was good. Sauce on dupiaza was a touch runny but well spiced. Overall - Excellent.

Starters went well, mains started to arrive and to my absolute horror I saw the waiter put his finger in my food to test the temperature! He saw me and smiled. So no not great and wouldn’t eat there again!

We booked ahead of time. Arrived 5 minutes early for our booking at 7.30, and told to go away for 10 minutes. We came back, and were told to sit and wait for 10 minutes, while they served a large table, their food. We weren’t offered any drinks, and waited for 1 hour, before they took our order. We were then told that they didn’t serve any alcohol. One if our party was told to go to the pub down the road and bring back her beer ( no corkage!!!) The waiter was hysterical. Kept joking with us, to try and pass the time. Eventually the food arrived. It was mostly delicious, but to be honest, we would have eaten a carpet, as we were so hungry. Luckily, we were in a good mood, but quite glad we don’t live here…. But actually it was good fun. It was the waiters birthday. Fawlty towers at its best!!!

We had a takeaway whilst staying in Builth Wells. Nice food, very generous portions …. What’s not to love?

Absolutely passable Indian restaurant. We visited on a Thursday evening and were the only two in the restaurant. It’s bring your own and cash only but not an issue. Food served was of a good standard. Generous meat content in both curry’s, nans good and rice big portion to share. Generally very happy with a £40 dinner for two. Don’t forget your beer!

A great BYO Bangladeshi restaurant. Fantastic food with quick and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Stopping overnight in Builth and as it was a Friday we fancied an Indian meal and found this excellent restaurant. Really interesting menu, many dishes new to us. The food was delicious, staff great and very aware of COVID regulations. We will definitely return and recommend you to our friends.

Being a visitor to Builth we went with locals & so pleased the new owners have got it right .The food was excellent for all 4 & of a very good quality.

Mid week visit, very good all round, just remeber to bring your own beer, they do not hold a licence, not a problem, they supply glasses and an opener if required.

Orderd from here tonight and comparing to last takeaways thatcwas there it's amazing filling food very tasty, can not fault it very good good sized portions and friendly staff I highly recommend to anybody coming to builth on holiday or even popping in.
