The journey up the west coast of Skye is breathtaking. When you arrive the welcome is warm and charming. The dining room is cosy, relaxed and has a great ambiance provided by the music and the unpretentious service. Finally, the food is amazing - it is a love song to the ultra-local ingredients, delivered in a way that doesn't have to try too hard. The whole evening was perfectly paced and will live long in our memories.
We didn’t have a booking but the restaurant fitted us in which we really appreciated. We were not disappointed the food was exceptional and so was the service. The menu is small, but perfect. We all ordered a different main course and none of us were disappointed. I have a starter again, beautiful and the rest of the party a dessert again fantastic. The complimentary soup was a nice touch too. It was the first evening of our stay and it could not have been any better. A really great restaurant. Thank you.
We stayed for one night in the Signal Box building, our room was very comfortable and clean and great to get a very close up view of any passing trains! ( there were only a few a day). We ate lunch, dinner and breakfast ( and then lunch again!) in the station house restaurant and the food was amazing. Huge portions, and very friendly staff. Our lunch when we arrived was just a sandwich from the honesty box that had been set up as they were closed to lunch bookings that day but then reopened from 6.30pm that night and we ate loads of seriously tasty food.
We also managed to do the four hour 14km circuit of nearby Loch Ossian. We didn’t have great weather on the day we were there but made the best of it. We saw the Estate House and some lodges at the opposite side of the loch on our walk and a very interesting high tech dam system just before the Estate House.
We highly recommend a visit to Corrour Station House( with a stay in the Signal Box if you can find availability- they said it’s fully booked for the rest of this year) 😍
After arriving on Isle of Harris we were looking for a place to get some drinks to warm up. We decided to try this place as it also functions as a small gallery. The views from the cafe were amazing and they also had some great paintings. We just had a coffee and a hot chocolate as neither of us were really hungry. Both tasted great and came out quickly. The service was super friendly as well so I would definitely recommend the place especially because the sweet treats looked so good.
What a fabulous find! This cute little cafe served up an amazing breakfast of Eggs Caledonia and a Full meat breakfast. Just excellent. The eggs Caledonia is served with black pudding instead of a typical meat and it is wonderful. I didn't think I would like it but it really is delicious. The homemade hollandaise sauce was the best ever! The staff were warm and inviting. Highly recommend this wonderful unassuming cafe.
So lovely everyone was so welcoming and inclusive made us feel like part of the community. Food was very tasty the brownies are to die for proper chunks of chocolate and bought some artwork which is beautiful. If we loved locally we'd be there all the time. 100/10
Of course it was wonderful to be greeted by Max, the guard dog! Nice atmosphere for drinks, and to learn a little about the area. Book ahead for dinner there - it gets great reviews, and many people were trying to get a table with no success. It will be on our list for next time!
Yet again another sublime dinner, fantastic flavours, amazing presentation, cannot praise it highly enough. The front of house staff are so friendly, professional and knowledgeable, the dining room exudes old country house vibes, and Chef Patron Calum Montgomery, Scottish chef of the year, deserves every accolade, cannot wait for our next visit. Thank you to the Edinbane Lodge team for a wonderful experience.
Where do I start?
From the minute of booking and yes you do have to prebook ( they don't do walk ins), to the moment you leave, the whole experience is personal and first class. Knocking on the door may seem strange but from that moment on Rose knows your name and is the perfect host. Embrace the atmosphere of the restaurant it's one sitting and your meal is also prebooked. You are never rushed and encouraged to take your time.
The food is what you pay for, Quality and lovingly cooked by Patrick (chef/owner) who comes to see everyone after their meals and spends time talking to you about you, and your meal, afterwards you can stay at the table or retire to the lounge area which we did for cocktails. I've never experienced such warmth, fantastic food and yet intimacy in one hit but I'll definitely go again
Starter: Goats cheese salad
Main: venison lasagne
Desert: scottish tiramsu
Bill: no suprises as prebooked plus whatever drinks you order.
A wonderful experience - fantastic 3 course dinner with great choices from a small but excellent menu - with a warm environment and great care given. They really cared that we had a good experience - and that this was the case for every guest. Dress was casual, but the food was not. Outstanding. And far and away the best meal I’ve had in Scotland.
Flavour
Flavour is probably the best dining experience I have ever encountered. The food tastes fantastic and is beautifully presented, and Chris’ commentary on how it was gathered and prepared adds a depth to the dining experience that enhances one’s appreciation of and enjoyment of each dish. Add to that the fun of watching Chris and Alex actually plate each dish in the open-kitchen dining area, and the whole experience is absolutely wonderful! Each dish, many of them using ingredients foraged from the hills and shores of the Isle of Harris, provided an explosion of wonderful tastes. The island is a great place to visit for its natural beauty and friendly people, but even if that weren’t the case, a chance to dine at Flavour would make a trip there worthwhile.
The tea wasn’t great and the staff member serving wasn’t interested in customer service. Not a great experience for my first visit after reading the positive reviews. Loads better places in the town.
Absolutely superb. Hot smoked salmon starter was one of the best I’ve had, and the venison main also fantastic.
However, the wonderful, relaxed atmosphere and great staff elevate this place still further.
Brilliant. Worth a detour.
