We had a fantastic time at Flavour- the tasting menu was full of new ideas: locally foraged mushroom and seaweed, for instance. Great fish and really tender venison. Chris's enthusiasm as he explains what's behind each dish really shines through. They are planning to open for a few dates over the winter, so worth a check even if it's out of season.
Your restaurant came highly recommended and the food and wine was absolutely superb. Unfortunately this is where the great experience ended as we have never been made to feel so uncomfortable in a restaurant by the people serving us, to the point that we couldn't wait to pay the bill and leave!
We were the first table in the evening at 5pm and were seated right by the bar but we struggled to get eye contact with the staff who were either chatting behind the bar or staring into space. At no point did they ask us if everything was ok or if we wanted another drink. We tried to engage them in some chatter when they served us but to no avail. I don't know if in someway we offended them but we really could not work out what we had done wrong to be treated this way.
Unfortunately we will not be returning, which is a shame as the food is excellent.
Fortunately our evening was not completely spoiled as a visit to the local community centre in Nairn found us invited to a Ceilidh and a very warm welcome and fun evening.
Popped in today and managed to get a table as they were very busy so enjoyed our usual wonderful lunch. Always cooked to perfection and the famous "Richard's chips" were fantastic. They are dog friendly too so our wee pooch Alvah had a great time being petted by other visitors.
We stayed at Taigh Ailean for our trip to Skye. We also had the opportunity to eat dinner there (Breakfast was included with our stay.) The dinner was so delicious! The view is lovely as you can see the loch from the windows of the bar. All the staff is fantastic and so friendly! I had a great dinner and I would describe it, but the menu changes to suit what is in season and available from the sea. Whatever you get, I guarantee it will be the best! Make sure you call ahead and get a reservation as it fills up quickly. I know that they also have live music, which would be great, but we didn't have any while we were there.
The tea wasn’t great and the staff member serving wasn’t interested in customer service. Not a great experience for my first visit after reading the positive reviews. Loads better places in the town.
Very unexpected, unusual, friendly little cafe. Great food good value, a definite stop for food if you are going through. Perfect beach only 400m away. All worth a visit.
Absolutely superb. Hot smoked salmon starter was one of the best I’ve had, and the venison main also fantastic.
However, the wonderful, relaxed atmosphere and great staff elevate this place still further.
Brilliant. Worth a detour.
This Subway has always been great; extremely friendly customer service, great food (sandwiches at other Subway’s are usually a bit burnt) and just an overall friendly Subway.
However, since last year, this Subway has been closed; every time we walk by it is always empty, as in lights never on, same drinks left in fridge ect.
You know it’s been closed a while when you see COVID guidelines telling you to wear a mask and that it’s mandatory; as well as other posters and such laying all over the floor. When searched on Google, it says “Temporarily closed”, however, it’s been well over a year at this point and it shows no signs of re-opening. We know some of the people who uses to work there and they just said that it’s “closed”. It’s a shame; the Subway should be sold if they don’t want to maintain or open it.
Here’s to hoping that we ever see Subway Aviemore open again — I’m hoping 🤞
La pizza era sabrosa y asequible. El pizzaiolo es muy amable. Estábamos a pie y nos llevó solo unos 20 minutos caminar allí desde el centro de Portree, sin duda vale la pena!
Drove from an hour away on a sightseeing day only to have owners say there is no restaurant here. So then had to drive back the other way to go to our second choice restaurant.
