A super destination. Truly wonderful. We had a table beside the window looking out across the bay. Perfect for celebrating my son’s birthday. Everything on the menu was excellent. Local produce and at least 3 choices for starter, main and dessert. Between us we tried most of the menu! Great atmosphere, relaxed yet efficient and friendly.

The location is great. We were able to park on High Street just outside as it was after 6. The staff were very nice and the food was first class. I had goats cheese and mushroom tart, and the pastry just fell apart when you cut into it, there was cranberry inside. It was delicious and perfectly cooked. Had the slow cooked brisket beef for mains, the beef was tender and the mash and veg were lovely, the jus was very tasty but there was too little of it. I told the waiter when he collected the plates and he said they would have been happy to bring more, but you shouldn’t need to ask. The beef was plentiful but needed much more jus. My husband had the same and he had no where enough jus either. That is my only complaint. My daughter had sirloin which was perfect and came with a little jug of peppercorn sauce on the side, I think the beef should come with a side jug of jus. Desert was also perfect, as was the Irish coffee. We would definitely eat here again. And it wasn’t overpriced . Beautiful setting too with a roaring fire and leather settee to sit and have a liqueur or a wee dram after dinner.

Ok. Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. Man is it hard to find a place to eat here. No joke. Odd hours, basically nothing open on Sundays. We popped in for a much needed lunch. I ordered the beef, bean and barley soup. Once it came out (took a while) it was excellent! And filling. Could’ve been and entree. We both next got the chicken mezazane (I hope that’s right). Once it finally got served, it was scorching hot. Breaded and fried chicken cutlets in a mushroom gravy with root vegetables. It was really good! The knock is on service and time to complete the meal. Oh and the menu is a bit limited. And the same menu for the adjacent restaurant.

Were staying across road and after all the amazing reviews had to go. Did the big seafood platter and paid the high price as trying local Scottish seafood was on our bucket list. I would have said no but hubby was keen. Now it was lovely but I would not rave about it as much as others have. It was extremely expensive but unsure of local prices so it may have been normal. Two of us could not eat it all so was able to take left overs with us. Setting was lovely. Nothing flash but a great view. Staff lovely and wine great. If you can get fresh local seafood somewhere else on your trip for less expense, give it a go.

Fabulous restaurant in Donaghadee. So lucky to have it on our doorstep. Great place for a catch up with the girls. Fantastic food, great ambience and service. I had the daube of beef which was delicious! Scallops to start which were just perfect. Always good craic with Jody the owner! Reccomend a visit.

Stopped for lunch as we were passing through Ullapool, and was highly impressed with the haddock and chips. A large - and very nice piece of fish, beautiful batter, and with a good portion of freshly cooked chips. As a working class lad from the West Midlands I like to consider myself something of a chippie connoisseur - and these were excellent!
