McLeod's Fish & Chips in Highland

Went here for a meal for my wife and I on Saturday evening , ordered large fish supper and Stornoway pudding supper. the large fish ended up bits of small fish cobbled together the brown cardboard container that held this tasted the chips. The Stornoway pudding/fritters were ok if a tad greasy as was most of the fare.If this is supposed to be the best chipper in Inverness well you know the rest!.

Looked for reviews on best chippy on way down from highlands and saw this chippy. Can I say how disappointed I was that I paid £20 for a load of crap in batter. No meat in fish , chips dry as f@@k. What a waste of petrol.

The fish and chips are amazing. Period. Unfortunately, and maybe because they are so popular, things always fall over when they are busy. Which is a lot of the time. The ordering system is chaotic, they try to serve online orders at the expense of people waiting on the pavement and the whole place is about as COVID safe as a Wuhan wet market. I waited an hour for my order.

Tried this chippy tonight after several recommendations and wasn’t disappointed!Fish was delicious with perfect crispy batter. The chips were a wee bit over cooked for my taste? But the fish more than compensated? Very good value for moneyAnd the best I have tasted for years? Will defo be back!

David went above and beyond the call of duty for me ,With covid restrictions not able to see family and all that jazz ,its great to know this fantastic fish shop offers not just the best fish supper by far they have a great website easy to follow ,which means it's easy to order and the delivery service is great too .Made mums day having a fish supper delivered to her door .Well done you guys I would be giving you 10 stars not 5 .Will definitely be back .Thank you

I went after reading reviews asked for haddock and chips and a red pudding supper the chips were okay but it was not haddock I got it was more like a minced fish in a greasy batter the red pudding was also dripping in a greasy batter as a chef I know my fish it was a takeaway we had

Paramos aquí para una cena rápida. Tuvimos que esperar un poco para que se hiciera nuestro pedido, pero era de esperar, ya que era un momento ocupado y también estaban tomando pedidos en línea. Obviamente, las patatas fritas estaban recién hechas. También tuvimos palitos de mozzarella que estaban deliciosos. Sin embargo, la salsa de curry no fue la mejor. He pedido a Mcleods 3 veces durante la pandemia de Coronavirus como regalo de sábado. En pocas palabras, es el mejor chippy que he tenido. Yo pido algo diferente cada vez y mi madre se queda con el pescado (criatura de hábitos). Todo ha sido de la más alta calidad en todo momento. La salsa tártara también está en el cajón superior.No puedo recomendar lo suficiente.

Pescado fresco y patatas fritas. Rebozado ligero y crujiente y delicioso pescado. Patatas fritas frescas bien cocidas con un mínimo de restos y trozos. Durante este período de COVID, llamamos y pedimos por adelantado un tiempo de recolección establecido. A su llegada, espere hasta que esté en la puerta y el servidor verificará su nombre y pedido, aceptará el pago sin contacto y le dará un buscapersonas "listo" que le informará cuando su pedido esté listo para ser recogido. Recomendado

We could not praise our first visit enough. However we went back on the 29th Dec and both fish suppers were awful. Greasy and soggy. I wouldn't go back.

A family run chippy where they do care about the quality of their ingredients and customers satisfaction.

Although we are from Inverness we weren’t aware of this gem. For shame.An excellent example of good verging on great fish and chips. The fish (haddock) was particularly good, crisp batter, meltingly soft flesh and not over done. All cooked to order. The chips were good but not great, you can’t have everything.Service excellent and a guaranteed return from our family (we don’t always say that....)Thanks to the Mcleod’s team

The service was good and the staff friendly, very clean premises. Alas in my opinion and that of my partner it did not meet the title of best chippy in North of Scotland, sorry.

Had a fish and chips and was hugely disappointed. First I noticed by the time I had gotten home that the oil had run out of the box. Greasy fish and not great tasting. This place used be be really good but not been impressed the last few visits, prior to this visit I had left it a couple of months. Also noticed that the prices have risen so a standard fish and chips is now over £7. Won't be going back anytime soon as most ended up in the bin. I cannot see how they got there recent award based on my last visits.

Decided to give it a try as told it was the best chippy in Inverness,fish was absolutely delicious,batter was nice but would have preferred a few more chips

I might not be an expert judge of fish and chips, I have been living in Scotland for one year only after all. But that was hands down the best fish and chips I 've ever had.

We had fish suppers from McLeods Fish & Chips this evening. Wow, both me and my partner said that they are the best fish suppers we have ever had. The fish, obviously fresh was outstanding and cooked just right. The chips were also perfect. All served up in a cardboard box wrapped up in a paper bag. This business is obviously also very environmentally friendly. All to often food is served in plastic or polystyrene. Not at McLeods though. First rate on every level, would recommend all to try out their food if they are in Inverness.

Called to order before I came, food was ready almost as soon as I got there. The place has a lovely feel about it, friendly staff and the food was great.

Can't beat fish and chips by the sea. It was perfect. (May want to consider eco-friendly forks and other alternatives. Livelihood depends on things caught alive from the sea).

I’d urge others to try it. We had come off a Skye tour and were hoping it had some tables to enjoy the food at. It’s ONLY take-out, so we had to take a pass on McLeod’s. The store’s in a working class neighbourhood... that reminded me of Owen Sound (Ontario) or Campbell River (British Columbia). Owner: please consider 1-2 tables (for us tourists). Thanks, eh.

After reading reviews walked to this fish and chip shop from Central Inverness-15-20 mins.Lots of people waiting ,so looked popular I ordered fish and chips for my wife and just a fish for me and waited about 20 minutes.All was cooked fresh.My wife loved hers,but not many chips. My fish was terrible.It was absolutely soggy and not at all crispy. My wife would go again,but leave me out

Saw in local paper that this place won an award. Definitely deserves it. Came in on a Sunday night and it was really busy. Had the haddock supper. Absolutely beautiful and fresh. Service was really good too. As the reviews suggest you have to come here. Oh, and please make some of your home made coleslaw as an addition. Could not see it on the menu. That with your fish and chips would be perfect !

We heard about this place before our flight to Inverness. Got the supper fish and chips with a generous pouring of malt vinegar and salt plus the homemade tartar sauce. My husband and I ate everything in the supper box. We did not pre-order and even though there was a long line, our order was very quickly prepared. It was worth every pence and it was only 7 pounds each supper box. Cooked to perfection.

I have been informed by several people that this chippy is "special". I thought i would try it for myself. Unfortunately, the fish was rather bland and the chips were somewhat soggy. Not the worst chippy i have ever had by a long stretch, but not what i would consider 'National Winner'.

Having read a lot of good reviews on here I decided to give this fish and chip shop a crack whilst I was in the area and unfortunately it let me down.

Such a busy place,great system in place for ordering food,great choice and 100%fresh. Would highly recommend this place

Spending an evening in sleepy Inverness & feeling fishy?

When I visited here I was pleasantly surprised. I'd driven passed a few times but hadn't gone in because of the ques.But on a night after work I decided to pop in and wow what a surprise very tasty .Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for

First of all, this is a take away not a sit down restaurant, BUT these fish n chips are hot and delicious and cooked to order. The coleslaw was creamy and homemade as was the tartar sauce. The portions were large so take that into consideration. One piece of fish, chips and coleslaw about put me under the table!! The cook directed us to a lovely spot just up at the end of the road that had picnic tables and a gorgeous view of the sunset. The onion rings were also crispy, hot and delicious!

My wife and I stopped here on our first night in Inverness due to reviews on TripAdvisor. We drove past it twice before seeing it. It is a takeout only and was crowded and busy the entire time we were there.

Super fresh and hot. We loved it. This is a take out only place but we were staying just a few blocks away. Carried it back to the flat. Highly recommend!

This has to be the best chip shop I’ve ever been to,the staff are friendly and efficient,all the food is good fresh for you,I have tried many different things and they are all tasty and the curry sauce and gravy are to die for(I don’t go very often)the place is spotlessly clean and I won’t be using another chip shop that’s for sure

The owner and staff are down to earth and very kind also proud of their cooking. The food definately tastes as good as it looks and not like any regular fish and chips bar I’ve been to.

Had fish suppers from here while on holiday last year, back again this year. Wow even better lovely crisp batter and decent chips and cheaper than down south. Still hot by the time we got to North Kessock then we saw dolphins perform a perfect evening. Many thanks.

Wow. When coming to Scotland I didn’t think they would be great for fish and chips but I was wrong!the fish was amazing and flaky and the batter was so good. Price is great and sides were good. I’d say the mushy peas were a bit dry but curry sauce was amazing and the portions of everything is good. I hope to visit Inverness again and I’ll be back to this shop!

Heard good reports but disappointing. Had fish and chips which wasn't warm, tasted dry and not particularly fresh. Pity as was really looking forward to this, quite expensive too.

This local take away is the real deal. Locally caught fish cooked in the traditional way. A wide variety of dishes on the menu and you can see them being cooked in the shop. The fish was delicious and of course has to be smothered in malt vinegar!!! Recommend for a quick local experience.

Dropped into McLeod's (twice) on a 3 day break. Fish, chips and peas were excellent. Parking available outside and around the corner for those driving. Worth a visit.

We stopped here quite by chance on the way back from a tour around Loch Ness, and our fish suppers were hot and tasty with crispy batter and lovely chips. The home made Tartare sauce was good, and coleslaw was a nice extra as well. Good prices and they opened fairly early too, so worth checking out if you're in the area.

Passing through Inverness, looking for a bite to eat and found this place. The ladies were very nice and thought the 'never trust a skinny cook sign was' a lovely touch and made us chuckle. We all had haddock and chips.

I had the haddock fish and chips, and their special - mac and cheese, they were great. Prices were ok. Staff was friendly.

This Fish and Chips Shop was such a highlight. It’s a cute little shop that seemed really popular as there were a lot of locals waiting and queuing inside. Still we didn’t have to wait long for our orders. The fish was excellent and the scampies even better. We also got 2 cups of the home-made tarar sauce for free.

We were visiting from Las Vegas, staying at the Columba Hotel, and were craving fish & chips the night we arrived in Inverness. Read great reviews on TripAdvisor and all I can say is that our meal was better than what we ate at Harrod's in London! Fast and friendly, the haddock was prepared perfectly and well priced. After making the walk back to the hotel, about 20 minutes at a leisurely pace, the food was still nicely warmed and delicious. We'll definitely be returning next time we are in Inverness.

Was looking for a lovely fish and chip shop in Inverness and found one. Staff very helpful and the food was really fresh. Stunning fish and crispy chips which stayed hot until I got home. Will definitely be back 👍🏻

Encouraged by the good reviews we walked here and tried the fish and chips. I had haddock & chips which were freshly cooked and were still hot when we arrived back at our hotel. My wife had a hamburger in batter which she enjoyed. When in the area we will definitely return.

Have found this to be the best chippy in inverness , go here weekly for a fish tea and fish cakes, never wait long but that's not important it's the food quality along with great staff, the coleslaw is delicious too , well done for not using those awful polystyrene cartons who invented them, good old fashioned grease proof paper for chips and cardboard containers, well done guys

We ordered fish and chips to take away for 6 people, whilst in the chippy someone had ordered a battered pizza, oh my, what next, can’t think of anything stranger!

Stopped here the other day after a long drive - so glad I did. I had F&C; , Smoked sausage Supper and a Haggis. ( not all for me ! ) It was all fantastic. Well cooked and priced even got a bit of banter from the big fella behind the counter - will be back. Tells me he now does deliveries now. C ya next time .

We arrived in Inverness and were starving. Happened across McLeods while looking for somewhere to get something to eat. So glad we found it. Fish was lovely, batter was crispy. Best chips ever. Will return again.

Called in for tea haddock supper for two, cooked in front of me still hot when we parked by Moray Firth to eat them. Excellent fish lovely chips well packaged and fresh worth every penny.

Was a great fan but the last two occasions the fish hasn't been v good-seemed poor quality and the batter not as good as it used to be-will give McLeod's one last go at some stage

I read recently that The Fish Bar in Fochabers was a top 10 chipper in the UK. In my opinion, this is a cut above that. Run by a stout gentleman with a good sense of humour, underlined by his sign at the counter which reads "Never trust a skinny cook", McLeod's Fish & Chips has the perfect balance of great service and quality food. The staff clearly take pride in what they do and always put the customer first, which is what makes them stand from the rest. You will get a cheaper Fish & Chips in Inverness but there is no substitute for great service and great food.

Wonderful Fish Supper with mushy peas tonight. Succulent Haddock, crispy batter and tasty Maris Piper chips. Best Fish Supper I've had in a LONG time. Will deffo be back. Very reasonable price too. Friendly, prompt service and a short wait. Ace!

Made the effort to pop in for some fish and chips and wish I hadn't bothered!

Recommended by a friend, and what a recommendation!! Fish was delicious, chips were freshly cooked, best white pudding ever (according to my son). This take out was better than McDonalds (according to my daughter!). Service was quick and with a smile!

Very tasty and fresh fish. All locally sourced which is even better. Wouldn't go to another chippy now I've been here! :-)

2 members of staff were friendly, however the girl on till had a horrific attitude! Even her co worker rolled her eyes at the bad attitude till girl. She argued that she hadn't missed something of the order however we wouldn't have known the correct item to order had we not discussed it with her! Our food was then left to sweat whilst we waited for the one item missed to be cooked! Food was average but sufficient however would not return because service is everything!

Went here on Saturday night for a takeaway and it was average.I had haddock which was small compared to other chip shops.My hubby had King rib which he enjoyed.

Huge portions... we ate for two evenings, maybe because we do not know what the menu means.

Fab chippy, great selection of suppers etc. Fish was fresh and a good size, chips were great. Very reasonable pricing throught the menu. All the staff seemed happy in their work which is nice to see these days!

Smokey sausage supper & fish supper delicious, staff & owner very chatty and friendly. Fish was really fresh Highly recommend if u are hungry & in Inverness.

Visited this chippy on friday had to wait, not long everthing seems to be freshly made well worth the wait best fish supper i have had for a long will be returning soon
