Waterside Seafood Restaurant in Highland

To be fair, I am comparing this to a USA restaurant. The chowder appetizer was ok. The salmon was good. I had the apple Crisp and ice cream for desert. That was excellent! Service was fair.

We ate here two nights running and loved the food people and location. Booking way ahead is a must, people were being turned away both nights we were there and there is nothing in the locality as an alternative. We were very lucky to be there one night when a group of our American cousins booked a Scottish folk group to perform which was wonderful

Wonderful seafood restaurant, we have visited on many occasions, food is always wonderful. Took some friends from France this time, everything was excellent. Friendly, cosy and excellent service.

Waterside House Seafood is a little gem near the harbour, overlooking the train platform. The environment is welcoming and characteristic. With limited seating, reservations are advisable. An experience not to be missed if you are in the area.

So cosy and romantic! We had an amazing meal. The seafood chowder is stick to your ribs stuff, we licked the bowl clean. The scallops were so fresh and huge! The smoked haddock so creamy and yummy. Book ahead as it gets busy. Lovely service, we felt spoilt all night

Excellent restaurant run by a local chef, with locally sourced seafood and fish. Lovely atmosphere, staff and deco. Highly recommended.

Nice restaurant located in the same train station. Small and cute. Friendly but the food is very expensive for what it is. I ordered a seabass filled with verdi sauce that was very oily and I paid about 25 euros for half a fillet of what looked like mackerel with a potato and the sauce was just oil. I saw photos of reviews of the same dish and it was indeed a green sauce that in my case did not exist. My companions' dishes were much better, the smoked ones and the salmon fillet with whiskey sauce. The menu says that it takes time to prepare the food but it was too long. For the starter to share it took half an hour and between the first and the second it took an hour. There was the famous Highland mosquito, which made the wait harder. But it must be said that in Kyle of Lochalsh there is no choice, we would have to go to the town after the Isle of Sky bridge, where we were told there were a couple of pubs.

Really quaint and authentic seafood spot on the pier. A tad awkward to find but worth it. Food is simple and fresh. Sides are straightforward. Service is good. A warm meal on a chilly Scottish evening!

Buon ristorante, unica pecca ci hanno chiesto una ordinazione minima (avevamo preso due piatti e ci hanno detto che il minimo erano tre piatti), non mi era mai successo!

Nos costó encontrarlo... pero ojalá no lo hubiésemos encontrado. 130£ dos personas y nada estaba bueno. Menos mal que la zona es muy bonita... isla de sky, eilian donan... pero esto te estropea el día. No lo recomiendo para nada.

Good and service in this place is 5*. The menu is no fuss but high quality. Seafood done right. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. I will need to visit a few more times to try the rest of the menu. It’s a must if you’re in the area.

An excellent meal at the end of a magnificently scenic trainline! After a much delayed train trip from Edinburgh, we were resigned to go hungry after our 20:45 arrival. Had we not arrived by train we might have missed this long-standing seasonal seafood restaurant nestling in the station at water's edge. The Waterside Seafood Restaurant couldn't have been more welcoming! As it was we ate a variety of delicious seafood dishes, very fresh. Service was very professional and friendly. We came back of course. Open Monday-Thursday.

A ne pas manquer avant de passer sur l'île de skye. Peu de table, il faut reserver, une carte très restreinte mais alors qu'est-ce que c'est bon... Tout est frais, l'ambiance est sympathique une réelle bonne adresse.

Last minute call and they really made an effort to accommodate us (a group of 5). We got a lovely table and the food was 5/5!! Really friendly and will recommend this place any time!

Geöffnet von Montag bis Donnerstag jeweils ab 18.00 Uhr. Sehr gemütlich und die Karte sieht toll aus. Wir haben nur ein Bier getrunken, weil wir leider erst gelesen hatten, dass es geschlossen wäre.

Update your website if you are closed - or your google listing. Not impressed. Decided to stay in Kyle of Lochalsh for 2 nights so we could have dinner here but apparently closed and locals don’t know when they will re-open.

This place was so good that instead of choosing a second place to go on our second night in Kyle of Lochalsh, we decided to come here again to try different foods. Everything was perfect, from starters to desserts, and of course super fresh fish and seafood. Staff were very nice and efficient. The only downside was that it was difficult to park in the area.

A really nice and cozy seafood restaurant in the train station. You may want to park a but further as the parking place nearby are for train passengers. The seafood was really good as well as the service, we did take quite some time to decide upon something but they were really comprehensive. Might be a bit pricey but the quality comes with it

Perfect, great food, very nice staff

De passage pour une nuit, nous avons décider de manger dans ce restaurant. Les plats sont assez chers en moyenne mais par contre excellents! Toujours à base de fruit de mer, les plats sont travaillés et de bonne qualité. En revanche, faites attention, il faut mieux réserver avant de venir. Même pour un mardi, le restaurant était plein et nous avons dû attendre le second service pour avoir une table partagée, ce qui était top pour discuter avec nos voisins. 4 étoiles par rapport aux prix légèrement haut mais sinon, je recommande ce restaurant! Ps: ne vous arrêtez pas à la devanture pas très avantageuse.

Lieu atypique en bout de quai de gare. Petite salle de 25 couverts. Un très bon accueil et un repas de qualité et de la fraîcheur dans tous les plats ( huîtres, saumon, hareng fumée). Les desserts ne sont également excellent. Réservation indispensable ! 😃

Good food, nice setting. However i saw the cooker with his phone in his hands while cooking... What are we supposed to think when we know that phones are dirtier than toilets ?

So good. The restaurant is set on the railway platform in Kyle of Lochalsh which is a delightful location. The interior has a bright and continental feel. The menu changes depending on availability of fresh fish and the quality of the menu reflects this. You will need to book in advance to guarantee a table as this is a small popular eaterie.

This was a quality dining experience. The actual interior of the restaurant is on the small side, but it's nicely designed and offers nice views of the surrounding sea. This place fills up fast, so make sure you have a reservation. I started with their seafood chowder. Most chowders I've had in Scotland go heavy on the cream, and, while that's delicious in it's own right, one tends to lose the nuances of the ingredients. This chowder, on the other hand, was loaded with a delightful array of flavors and a generous amount of mussels. Served with fresh baked bread and butter, it was a great start to the meal. For my main, I chose their fish cakes. Made of a few different seafoods and served with potatoes and vegetables, they were well-cooked and paired nicely with the creamy tartar sauce provided. My girlfriend had one of their specials - pan-fried seabass in a thai curry sauce, which was so delicious. I was surprised to find such an enjoyable take on a Thai dish so far north in Scotland! Strongly recommended for anyone in the area!

Op doorweg gestrand in dit armzalige plaatsje, in een nog armzaliger hotel. Met veel geluk in de regen de bordjes gevolgd met daarop "Seafood restaurant" aan het station. We dachten eerst dat het niet open zou zijn, maar wat een ontvangst kregen we! Het eten was absoluut "outstanding"! Zo vers en perfect klaargemaakt. Wij namen de "Seafood platter to share", heeeeeerlijk en zo betaalbaar! Een erg dikke aanrader en een erg dikke pluim voor deze dames die ons de hele avond in de watten hebben gelegd. Ik wou dat we ooit terug zouden kunnen komen!

Very unfriendly staff. First they complained that we only ordered starters and asked to have more time to decide on the main course. Then we were forced to order more food. We ordered two more starters and the staff still had to ask their boss if this okay for now. Finally, the payment was a disaster. The bill was 71 pounds and we wanted to give 75. They just took 80 and quickly left to the kitchen.

Very good food! We entered with no expectations and were very pleased with the decoration and food. The salmon with whiskey sauce was nice but a bit shy on the wishes flavour. Soup was wonderful.

Lovely little restaurant on the station platform, nice ambience and fab local food. Our visit enhanced by the Royal Scotsman train parked alongside us and a the Lord of the Glens - small cruise ship moored the other side. Good staff too.

Trying to find it for the first time, you can hardly imagine a restaurant in 'that place', the station of Kyle. But it’s original, well decorated and a real pleasant surprice. Great Seafood and very friendly staff.

Great seafood and friendly service, what's not to like!

I wanted to write a LONG overdue review for this lovely place and it's fabulous owner. We got married in August of 2017 and Jann, the owner of the Waterside along with her husband, was our lifeline. Not only did she let us take up her ENTIRE restaurant for our reception but also helped us organize our entire wedding from outside the country. I could never have imagined a more perfect place for our wedding nor a better person to help us- especially as both my (now) husband and I were so busy leading up to the wedding, that I am afraid that we were practically no help. Jann is a miracle worker on that front but I must also mention the spectacular food and ambiance to found at the Waterside. We were blown away by the seafood and everyone in our party came away with rave reviews of everything. The pavlova was particularly fabulous and the ambiance was nothing but charming- fairly lights and fantastic mismatched china were nothing short of breathtaking. I know I am gushing but we truly could not have had a better experience. Make the effort to dine here if you can, it's nothing short of amazing and the people that work here as well the owners truly care about their customers.

Excellent address for a healthy meal of fish : delicious and colorful ! So delicious that we right away booked for the following Thursday night !! The triffle had too much cake ans not enough custard though, next time we will rather choose a starter !

Daily changing menu of freshly caught local fish. Delicious array of choices. Not the best desserts though as my pastry was overworked. Small restaurant on the train platform so booking is recommended in summer. We walked in both days, during April though. Don't miss an opportunity to eat here.

The food there is magnificent the sea food platter is enough for two and a half people if not three.
