My first trip to Cornerstones - but definitely NOT my last. The staff were friendly and cheerful, and the food was excellent. The Cullen Skink was the best I've ever had - including when I was in Cullen itself. The special of the day was Monkfish, which I had never tried: it came with a sweet chilli sauce which, I am glad to say, was not as hot as I was afraid it might have been. I am now 100% a fan of Monkfish. The Crème Brûlée came with a tasty compote and a lovely homemade shortbread. If I have one tiny, tiny criticism it's that the shortbread was square, and I couldn't dip it into the delicious Brûlée until I'd eaten some of it. If I'd been at home, I would have licked the Brûlée dish clean! Roll on next year's holiday, when I will certainly be back!

What a find situated opposite the harbour in the lovely village of Mallaig. Needed a swift lunch, but wish we could have stayed and eaten more. Beautifully decorated with views of harbour. Very attentive, sociable staff and amazing food. We enjoyed the creamiest, tastiest Cullen Skink and perfect mussels, chips, bread and light white wine. Restaurant is up one and half flight of tartan carpeted stairs. My companion walks with aid of a stick but managed well. The toilets are down the stairs, so if less able, use before or after meal 👍. Check out the amazing wallpaper in the restroom ☺️

We had planned to visit this Restaurant on our trip to Scotland from North Wales. We had watched Chef Cameron Macbeth on Masterchef and were impressed with his skills and how genuine he came across. We visited at lunchtime and had the fish and chips and the special of calamari with sweet chilli sauce and they were delicious. The pudding was to die for- chocolate terrine with blood orange sorbet. We also got to meet Chef Cameron who was exactly how we imagined him to be. We will definitely be back to try the tasting menu

On a cold rainy morning in August we arrived in Mallaig. The clouds lifted and we went for a hike and came back to town famished. We ducked into the Cornerstone for a bite of lunch and were treated to an amazing array of fresh langoustines and a fish chowder served with crusty bread. I’ll be dreaming about that lunch…Lucky us!

We selected this spot for lunch after taking the ferry from Skye. The lunch menu online advertised many options including sandwiches and burgers. The actual lunch menu was much smaller. There were no sandwiches or burgers. When I asked the server she said the online menu was from last year. Had the actual menu been posted online I would have selected a different restaurant since there were limited options that did not appeal to me for lunch.

We stopped in here for lunch before boarding the Jacobite Train. The staff was very friendly. They asked us when our train was leaving and promised to get us out in time, which they did. We had a table near the window, so we had a nice view of the town below and water. We ordered the fish and chips and the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. Food was very good, especially the fish and chips. I would recommend this restaurant.

My family and I visited the Cornerstone while waiting for a ferry in Mallaig. We arrived at the very end of their regular lunch service, but the staff kindly seated us anyway. All members of our party ordered fish and chips (I know, we're boring) which was delicious and served in very large portions. The staff were kind and very attentive, the atmosphere is cozy and the view of the harbor is pretty special, certainly befitting a seafood restaurant. I got the impression that the Cornerstone is a very authentic local restaurant, it's a peaceful place to slow down and enjoy some seafood, I can't recommend it highly enough.

Me and my wife have been holidaying near Mallaig for many years now and always have at least one trip to Cornerstone while there. Every time the food has been great, the severice prompt and polite. Has a lovely family vibe as it should have with it being run by a family with a young chef cooking and serving food way above his age and experience would suggest. Always enjoy catching up and seeing the progress the little hidden gem has as each year passes. The only downside being they were out of their famous langoustines again, but that also shows that they only serve fresh seafood and fresh fish. Unlike other establishments in the town who served me not so fresh and obviously frozen seafood. So as advised I will be phoning and ordering them in advance nextime. Already counting the days till we get to go back next year. A real treat for any seafood lover.

We have a well behaved Labrador and sadly (although I understand) precludes us from many places. We arrived in Malliag on the ferry at lunch time and so we asked if we could have lunch. We were made very welcome (Lola too) and had a superb meal. The special was a Halibut in ink squid linguine with Mallaig prawns which we both had. We followed this with the two desserts that were available and these were the star of the show! A glass of a very nice house white and ‘proper’ coffee finished off a great meal. The service throughout was brilliant and it was a great experience for us to be made so welcome. Great food, great ambiance, what’s not to like. Would return in a heartbeat, thank you!

The fish is super fresh and the homemade chips are chunky and delicious. They had a great variety of options for lunch and dinner on their menu including a large selection of fresh seafood caught right in Mallaig. They have a huge passion for their food and it shows in the quality of each dish that is served, make sure you try the pickled cauliflower if it's on offer. Also, the Arancini Balls for a starter were brilliant, as was the haddock wrap for a snack from the takeaway menu.Their staff are super friendly and very attentive to my needs as a customer, and I couldn't have had a better experience.Oh and I almost forgot to mention the view! The staff comment on our complaints was that the chef had a lot of covers, not my problem. There were 8 other people in the restaurant, hardly busy but they were also selling takeaway, maybe that made it too much for the kitchen. We won't be back.

Unfortunately when I arrived with my sister and nephew 20 minutes later I was informed that the table was no longer available however they were very sorry!!!!!!!!! if anyone has ever visited Mallaig at this time you will know how busy it is, so we ended up with a chippy and had to eat it on the train on our way back to Fort William so spent the majority of our time in Mallaig waiting in a queue for food, absolutely disgraceful, have recommended this place to so many people however I will reconsider this when someone next asks me where I think is good in Mallaig.

Visiting Mallaig for day and had good lunch at Cornerstone fish restaurant. It is upstairs and has great views over the harbour and the distant hills.

We wanted to book a table to be sure of a window seat, but when I phoned the 'bookings' number advertised, I was told they don't take bookings! It didn't matter, we got a window table anyway and had a very nice lunch - the O.H. had battered haddock and I had breaded haddock. The fish was lovely and fresh - still tasted of the sea!

We stayed at the Seaview Guest House and it was raining and windy so this was a perfect quick walk to dinner. It is a quaint little spot with not many frills. We had a delicious sea bass dinner that was the best we had the entire 16-day trip through Scotland and Ireland. We shared our enjoyment of the meal on the way out and they pointed to the harbor and said you can't possibly get fish any fresher :).

Climb up the plaid stairs, walk past the kitchen and enter the dining area overlooking the Harbour. We had delicious scallops and heaping fish and chips with garden peas. Friendly service grateful for tip. Really enjoyed the fish. Restroom downstairs on main level. Good meal and meandering Mallaig interlude.

We enjoyed our fish and chips but our expectations were a bit too high following reading other reviews. My main complaint would be that the small fish and chips was only slightly less money than the full size even though it was about half the size.

Du personnel agréable, un cadre sympa et une déco typique (moquette et ludique écossaise). Les plats proposés changent un peu du classique Fish and Ships même si dernier était quand même proposé à la carte.

We reached Mallaig on the Jacobite Express steam train. Reaching this upstairs restaurant, we were asked if we were on the train so that they could make sure that we were served with plenty of time to get back.

Although a small and mainly seafood menu is on offer the quality and presentation of each dish is second to none. Particularly recommend the sea bass with samphire and crispy capers.

A little doorway next to the Cornerstone Shop leads you to a lovely restaurant with amazing bright views across the port. We chose to book a table in advance and the lady who I spoke to prior was so helpful and kind that I was confident that we had chosen well! The staff were so attentive and so aware that we had a set time in Mallaig as we were travelling on the Jacobite steam train. They offered a lovely selection on their menu but we had to have the fish and chips and were not disappointed! The freshest fish we have ever tasted! We enjoyed a window seat overlooking the harbour. We can highly recommend this lovely find!

Considering where this fish and chip shop is located the fish was disappointing. Rather overcooked. Chips were tasty but expected more for the price.

We ate here last night, 2/11. We believe this is a temporary venue for this fabulous restaurant whilst their other premises are being renovated. We were warmly greeted and seated in a busy restaurant that had a warm and friendly feel. All the food sounded delicious especially the specials. Of the three of us I was the only one to have a starter - the hot smoked salmon tart - delicious! Crisp pastry, tasty hot smoked salmon and rich veloute. My dad the venison which was rich and soft - melt in your mouth tenderness. Whilst my husband a generous portion of seafood pasta - it was tasty, hot and very fresh - he said it was amazing. I had the monkfish special - loin wrapped in Parma ham with scallops. Again delicious! Service was the right mix of friendly and competent. A lovely restaurant serving very delicious food. We will visit again if we are up in Fort William.

Stayed at a nearby B&B, so ate dinner here. Had fish and chips, which was lovely, and the best dessert I’ve had this holiday. Small place, so need to book. Unfortunately, not open on a Sunday or Monday.

The welcome was very very very uncomfortable. The guy at the reception desk made us feel unwelcoming. He gave us a death stare as if we asked him for his life while asking if could grab some coffee and leave. The staff who served us, were very friendly, but then another staff just spoke so rudely. Would not recommend for anything. The view is good, but down the road there’s another beach for the view. So would never recommend this place.
