We chanced on this beautiful cafe and we were so glad we did.
The salmon croissant with goat cheese was the best ever!
And so was the quiche ...
I am here for a few days but would definitely like to come here once before I leave.
We went for Sunday lunch I had the beef Dave the pork ... lovely dinner always had people in there when we passed also used by the locals. Staff were lovely. Place doesnt look much but it was lovely we also went to the Olive Tree further down the street also busy only had ham salad sandwich Dave had bacon egg and haggis.. really nice again the staff were lovely
Superb lunch at La Potiniere. We are just home after being so well looked after with the most delicious food. I've recently been diagnosed as in tolerant to lactose and it makes eating out more difficult but not in this restaurant you are just catered for and given the most tasty well balanced dishes. It is a small intimate restaurant but welcoming and elegant. I can't praise it enough.
Booked as a special birthday meal on the basis of previous recommendations on this and other sites.
Sadly disappointed.
The chef responsible for setting the place up is now working abroad and his stand-in, while competent, doesnât live up to the billing or the prices.
Small menu, with 4 starters and 4 mains.
Scallops (3 for ÂŁ13) were excellent but lost in a small dish on a large otherwise empty plate. My crispy chicken was not noticeably different from a Chinese take away version, again served in an enamel dish for ÂŁ12 - very poor value.
Salmon fillet was faultless but my lamb rump was just barely on the edible side of pink, no jus or gravy and a saucer if mint sauce was brought without comment from the owner who clearly had better things to do behind the counter than worry about customer satisfaction.
The affogato desert was one scoop of average vanilla ice cream in a large coffee cup with a shot of espresso unceremoniously tipped over it by the still unsmiling hostess.
Yes I could have sent the lamb back, but then the awkward wait and out of synch meal spoils your evening. It was edible, just. And at ÂŁ33 a portion I wish Iâd chosen something else.
A bottle of average Montepulciano and 2 glasses of decent Prosecco set us back ÂŁ140 so when we return to Mull this definitely wonât be on our itinerary.
Less a Galleon than an overpriced CalMac ferry, Iâm sorry to say.
Flavour
Flavour is probably the best dining experience I have ever encountered. The food tastes fantastic and is beautifully presented, and Chrisâ commentary on how it was gathered and prepared adds a depth to the dining experience that enhances oneâs appreciation of and enjoyment of each dish. Add to that the fun of watching Chris and Alex actually plate each dish in the open-kitchen dining area, and the whole experience is absolutely wonderful! Each dish, many of them using ingredients foraged from the hills and shores of the Isle of Harris, provided an explosion of wonderful tastes. The island is a great place to visit for its natural beauty and friendly people, but even if that werenât the case, a chance to dine at Flavour would make a trip there worthwhile.
Phenomal food, burgers are top teir, great selection of salads and sauce. Service was great as well very polite and welcoming, Lynne even gave me free haggis on the burger which was unreal. Will be there every time I pass the retail park
I canât remember the last time I was so impressed by a meal. My impression is that the food is like one of those Masterchef pop-up street food venues. Iâve never experienced one of those but if I did it couldnât possibly be better than this.
Had a really lovely meal here last weekend! Great food and nice atmosphere. Very close little place. Nice seafood options and love the foraged mushrooms!
I discovered the wonderful Tea Garden at Comrie Croft when out for a drive. Easy parking. Very friendly staff. Beautifully presented, delicious cakes and bakes. Extremely clean and tidy. Lovely, lovely coffee. Great to be able to sit inside or out. The staff are wonderful with nice chat and local information. Will definitely return and can recommend highly to everyone.
Afraid to say I was very disappointed with food and service - no specials - no chips - just a Christmas menu on a Friday night. No diet lemonade either and we didn't find the staff friendly at all. Won't be going back.
Great atmosphere, enjoyed the full Scottish breakfast and the pancakes, very friendly staff with humor and great music! Very cozy and easy-going place, will definitely come back.
