Of course it was wonderful to be greeted by Max, the guard dog! Nice atmosphere for drinks, and to learn a little about the area. Book ahead for dinner there - it gets great reviews, and many people were trying to get a table with no success. It will be on our list for next time!
Lovely wee spot with delicious food and great service ! Would recommend the chicken tikka panini, made with real chicken tikka 🥰 beautiful cakes aswell!!!
We only spent a couple nights in Edinburgh but had to go back here on 2 consecutive days because we enjoyed the breakfast and coffee so much. Thank you, we hope you get to expand!
Brilliant time… the food was amazing as always! Only to be outdone by the unforgettable welcome and service provided by Lello and his team! We have just found our new go to family restaurant for years to come 🥰👏🏽
I booked with slight trepidation after reading some mixed reviews. Staying at Fionnphort or 2 nights with my wife to visit Iona & Staffa and as the trip coincided with my wife's birthday I booked the Ninth Wave as a treat.
We both eat out regularly in Scotland and abroad and have been lucky enough to visit some Michelin starred places over the years. The service at Ninth Wave was slightly quirky but very pleasant and the dining room small but very relaxed.
The quality of food served was beyond expectations and on a par with some Michelin starred establishments. The format is akin to a tasting menu with 3 or 4 smaller plates (#4 is dessert), cheese as an optional extra and coffee / petit fours included. We shared a decent bottle of white from an interesting list.
I had scallops and wood pigeon while my wife had the mackerel and crab stuffed courgette blossom. We both chose the half lobster "main" course. the Pigeon was slightly tough but otherwise the food was faultless. The lobster was exceptional and so refreshing to see it on a menu without the usual pricing supplement.
Fabulous evening - thank you Carla and John. We will visit again one day.
We were delighted to make a return trip to Edinbane Lodge for dinner in February 2025. Once again it was a delight. Service was friendly and informative, and the food was really exceptional. Standout dishes from the ten course tasting menu were the langoustines in orange butter and the Falasgeir desert. Keep doing what you are doing, Calum, Eilidh and team- you create exceptional food and great memories.
Where do I start?
From the minute of booking and yes you do have to prebook ( they don't do walk ins), to the moment you leave, the whole experience is personal and first class. Knocking on the door may seem strange but from that moment on Rose knows your name and is the perfect host. Embrace the atmosphere of the restaurant it's one sitting and your meal is also prebooked. You are never rushed and encouraged to take your time.
The food is what you pay for, Quality and lovingly cooked by Patrick (chef/owner) who comes to see everyone after their meals and spends time talking to you about you, and your meal, afterwards you can stay at the table or retire to the lounge area which we did for cocktails. I've never experienced such warmth, fantastic food and yet intimacy in one hit but I'll definitely go again
Starter: Goats cheese salad
Main: venison lasagne
Desert: scottish tiramsu
Bill: no suprises as prebooked plus whatever drinks you order.
Really friendly family owed restaurant. We just stopped in for a quick bit to hold us over to dinner. I had the apple pie and my husband had a slice of some type of lemon pie/cake. The apple pie was good. I also had a large tea while my husband had coffee. Very relaxed environment. The owner was really friendly and has two dogs which are nice and mellow. There are snacks for sale already packaged for travel. We took some freshly baked snacks for later that night (i really do not remember what we had…only it was good). The restaurant offers local artist crafts for sale. We Recommend a stop in for a quick bit to eat.
Visited this wonderful tea room having visited the area and read the reviews.
Had a lovely cup of tea with the most amazing home made chocolate orange cake. There was a huge choice of cake available, I’m not sure how the lady remembered them all.
We never looked at the lunch menu, but will next time we visit.
All of the staff were really friendly.
The lady did tell us that they don’t take cards but could take a bank transfer or cash. If visiting the area, a stop off is definitely recommended.
We honestly cannot rate this quaint wee place high enough. The food is outstanding, the service is friendly and nothing too much trouble. Certainly never anything but perfect every time we’ve been
After a surprise visit from No1 son we went out for tea, service and food ticked all the boxes and would have no hesitation in recommending certainly a credit to the town.
Word of caution always safer making a reservation so you don’t miss out.
Chaskaa is my number 1 curry take away service. Like most Indian curry lovers, I have tasted many curries throughout Edinburgh and Chaskaa Punjabi Murgh - one of their specials is the best I have ever had and will continue to have. Their Chicken Pakoras are the best we have ever had, just as the onion bhajis were delightful. I have recommended this place to work collogues who have visited the restaurant to eat in and loved my recommendation: Karahi, Punjabi Murgh, both dishes they loved. I have been in the restaurant to collect my order and the staff are the best, I mean really could not get nicer people, very friendly and who take the honour of serving you, the same goes for the delivery person , we have seen a few different drivers and every single one of them makes you feel like 5 star service, the food, the packaging, the staff, everything is perfect. I would recommend. Just an FYI, you get money back on each order, its like a points loyalty system, on average we get £2 on each order back into our chaskaa account, it feels great after a few orders you end up with a free curry or even a free meal.
Excellent freshly cooked food , small menu but was more than adequate for people’s tastes , staff are lovely . Food excellent as well . Good choice of drinks .
had previously given a good review as when we'd been before it was lovely but our last visit was disappointing. there was only a few people in and our food took forever even though we only ordered 2 pizzas and a garlic bread.
the bread took so long we ended up asking for it to go.. eventually after an hour after finishing the pizza we had to leave as our parking was expiring.. we realised the garlic bread was sitting on the counter in a takeaway box but nobody had given it to us. wonder how long it sat there! proper weird
a shame as pizzas used to be great but this time, it wasn't worth it at all :(
