Gem of a restaurant. Had lunch there for 1st time with friends. Couldn’t fault a thing. Amazing food, welcoming atmosphere and such friendly service. We will definitely be back!

A local took my sister and I to this little gem. Delicious home made food, reasonably priced. Great menu, leave room for pudding! lovely staff and atmosphere. Book if you are in Cupar.

Food was absolutely divine. Starter, main course and dessert for both my husband and were faultless, delicious and worth every penny. Second time there and we will definitely be back. The service was wonderful and we were made to feel very welcome.

We visited just before Christmas. It's a lovely welcoming place with great staff. The food is wonderful. Really high quality. I had the daube of beef and it was the best I've ever tasted. I love the cheesecake here too as it isn't sugary sweet. You can taste the delicious cream cheese. We are so lucky to have this beautiful restaurant in Cupar

Cosy, unpretentious eatery with positively the BEST food I have eaten in some time. Chose from the festive menu and noted there were no condiments on the table. A good sign as the chef obviously seasons the food. Pheasant, truffle and Pancetta Terrine starter. Beautiful to look at and wonderful to eat. Main course Jaegerschnitzel, escalope of pork fillet covered in wild mushroom, bacon and cream sauce, with fried potatoes and veg. This was outstanding, sauce full of flavour and plenty of it over the lovely flavoursome pork. The veg PERFECTLY cooked and the broccoli and sugar snap peas bright verdant green, full marks. The fried potatoes best I have ever had and wonderfully seasoned. Dessert just couldn't pass the Sticky Toffe pudding with vanilla ice-cream. Dark, fairy-light pudding marooned in a lake of decedant rich dark toffee sauce accompanied by good quality creamy vanilla ice cream. Wow what a dessert! Wow what a stunning meal, accompanied by a hard working and still charming waitress. Proprietor also so pleasant and her husband the chef spoke through his fabulous food. Must not forget the crackers too! I NEVER have 3 courses, but the food here is superb, cannot express my delight enough for the entire experience. Cupar you have a sparkling gem of a restaurant here and I am deeply regretful that I live about 140 miles away. Thank you.

Without doubt The Courtyard is our favourite restaurant. Delicious food, a great atmosphere and wonderful service. Lynn and Hermann are fantastic hosts. We've visited on a number of occasions over the years just ourselves, with family and with friends. Always a lovely experience. Also excellent for our recent private event/evening. We'd thoroughly recommend taking time to visit The Courtyard for lunch or dinner whenever you get the chance!

Fantastic place. Lovely atmosphere and exceptional service. Meals are made with passion to the point you can taste it. Portions are nice size and quite generous. The place is tiny but really cosy.

Really enjoyed our evening here, friendly and relaxed but still felt special. Incredibly good food, best meal we've had in a long while! The lady apologised when we paid because she felt service wasn't up to the usual standard because a member of staff had been absent, but we hadn't noticed at all. Everything arrived in what felt like perfect timing and was all delicious. We hope to be able to come again, it would be worth making a special trip to Cupar just for a meal here!

We have never had anything other than a positive experience at the Courtyard. All visitors are well looked after by the owner and young staff. The menu is excellent for such a small restaurant and specials are invariable very special. The Courtyard has a limited number of places but you never feel on top of one another. Care and consideration is offered to table location when possible. Relaxing atmosphere within walking idistance of home. Always a warm welcome. What more can you ask for.

Thank you for an excellent meal at great value and making our party of family and friends including a very tired 2 year old very welcome. Visited here with my mother and husband while shopping in Cupar. After trying 3 pends we found the courtyard from which the restaurant takes its name (would be a delightful place to sit in summer) and got a table. Although it was 2pm, and maybe after the lunchtime rush, there was a warm welcome and everything on the menu including the specials was still available (don’t you hate it when you make your choice only to be told sorry that’s finished?). We went for the risotto and the venison lasagne from the specials, and pork schnitzel from the main menu. After a short wait during which we could admire the lovely decor (think whitewashed fishing cottage) - I always think that food that comes quickly has been pulled straight out of a freezer and into a microwave - our food arrived. Everything was piping hot, well seasoned and presented and delicious. We all tasted each other’s meals and would have been happy with any of them. Dessert of apple slices deep fried in cinnamon doughnut batter light as a feather and not at all oily, served with the creamiest vanilla ice cream I ever tasted was shared between us over coffee, and the waitress was happy to serve this as a sharing platter. £50 for 3 of us, with drinks and coffee was very good value and we left a generous tip. We will definitely make a trip to Cupar again to eat there. Oh, and the shops were a success too!

Wife and I had pate and superb Crab Bisque, both Pork schnitzel with delicious sauce, shared super ice cream In mocha sauce, fantastic. Cost approx £45.

The Courtyard was very busy. We had the chowder and the schnitzel and both were excellent. Tasty, good and honest food. Service was friendly albeit a bit stressed by the many guests.

Delicious veggie food and my wife and friend thoroughly enjoyed their food. Good beers as well, brilliant chef and his wife is spot on serving and informing you of all the food choices.

The atmosphere of The Courtyard is traditionally Scottish, with a nice assortment of daily specials and fresh fish and produce. It is a popular restaurant, so book ahead at least a day!

While traveling between destinations we decided to stop in Cupar for dinner. The Courtyard was a delightful experience and one that we did not expect. Of all the meals we had on this trip, the Courtyard was by far the best one. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife team. He cooks and she serves. The restaurant is small and quaint. The meals where superb. I highly recommend the Courtyard in Cupar.

We popped in for lunch for the first time and had a lovely meal. I had the schnitzel and my partner had the mussels. Very reasonably priced. We will be back.

A lovely warm welcome from our waitress, we had great service all evening. I had calamari as a starter which was delicious and a generous portion, my friend had broccoli and stilton soup which she said was delicious. For our main course we both had a delicious Jaegar schnitzel, it was cooked to perfection and brought back happy memories of living in Germany. The apfelkuchel with vanilla ended the meal on a high. We will definitely be back and would recommend the courtyard to anyone looking for delicious home cooked food. Thanks for a great evening.

A family-run restaurant catering for all dietary needs. Outstanding and consistent quality of food at reasonable prices. Regular menu with variety of dishes is complimented with a considerable number of daily specials. Service is friendly and attention to detail is very good.

Visited on Saturday 31st August with family. My meal of jumbo prawns as starter schnitzel as main and apple slices with ice cream has got to be one of the best meals I have eaten in a restaurant, couldn't fault in in any way, that coupled with excellent service, ensured it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
