The best restaurants in Wakefield Yorkshire and The Humber

absolutely appalling. so called fresh nann was rubber. 20 pounds meal terrible. not going there again. not the delivery fault. Just a bad takeaway. why do they say best kebab in Wakefield? not best kebab on the street.

We came to the Swan and Cygnet today. I am absolutely appalled at the service. I ordered from the table as suggested. I ordered a soft drink and a pint of carlsberg and black and a portion of onion rings. My sister in law ordered separately a pinot grigio. We waited around 5 minutes for the onions rings which was fine. We then waited another 20 minutes before I had to get up and ask where our drinks were. Then 10 minutes later a lady brought us drinks but one was wrong. 5 minutes later she returned with the corrected drink but my sister in law was told they didn’t have her drink available and offered an alternative. Another 5 minutes pass and she returns again with a DIFFERENT drink because the alternative she offered was also not available. She accepted this to prevent any more waiting, but then noticed how filthy the glass was.

Can't believe how far the standards have fallen here. Food used to be lovely but the new menu is so poor. It's now on par with wetherspoons but four times the price.

Went for a family night out and it didn’t disappoint! The food was amazing, so much choice, plenty of drink options and the Dubai cheesecake was to die for! The staff were so lovely and attentive and great atmosphere

Standard budget hotel but deserves 5 stars because of the staff. Terri in restaurant bar service is exceptional. Hard working polite and full of character. She and her colleagues especially the manager deserve the recognition of the company as they make an average site exceptional. Will look to return soon and won't be swayed by cheaper, 'better " hotels.

We're here visiting family over Easter and the staff at the Darrington have been wonderful! Especially Belle, who hosted the Easter breakfast this morning, which our two kids really enjoyed. Highly recommend 🐰🩷

The food was amazing, the steak I had literally came sizzling out of the kitchen. The burger was very nice, a good 9/10, however there was too much burger sauce. The pudding was beautiful, some of the best I’ve had. I did rate the atmosphere a bit lower because the time we went at was very quiet, which was nice because food came fast. Definitely recommend the brownie.

1st time here, n wasn't disappointed. The food was the best iv had in a long time, I'd be a regular if I lived nearer, well priced, potions huge

Fabulous 3 night stay at the Holmfield Arms. Quick and easy check in thanks to the lovely lady on reception on Monday. Room very presentable and a lovely comfy bed, and tidy bathroom although the shower could have been a bit more powerful. Food excellent on every evening, although service was a bit raggedy on Wednesday for some reason? But no complaints regarding the food or the value. Location is good for getting into Wakefield and for a little walk around the 3 parks which surround the hotel. Definitely recommend it and will be back again.

Service was a bit slow, and they asked about 3 times what sandwich we had a check out was never asked if wanted to make it a meal deal or for any extras

Unbelievable food no matter what you order. I found this place in Covid and is now a firm fave. Lovely staff and amazing food what else do you need xx
