Caroline our servicer was extremely welcoming and friendly as we are from Scotland down visiting friends. Food was great and venue / staff were welcoming. Great value for money.

We arrived when a local steam rally was on so the car park was quite full with tractors and steam engines but still had many spaces.. The front external seating area was full with people enjoying the hot summer day with friendly atmosphere and polite conversations.. On entry to the bar areas it was very full .. We went through and into the outside seating areas to the rear .. using the online app we were able to order food and drinks... ( the drinks app took the orders but staff informed us once they brought out the meals it wasn't putting the orders through so they didn't know anything about our drinks.. soon rectified and staff apologised for the delay and problems) The garden furniture was slightly dated but suitable for purpose.. The children's play area was under construction??? All caged off ... There were nice quiet seating areas around the sides.. also a dog friendly establishment.. The meals were served in good time and were of a good quality.. ( a credit to the staff when it was as hot and as busy as it was ) The empty glasses and plates from tables were being cleared regularly but tables could be wiped down ready for next customers 🤔 ( I know it was busy but would look healthier).. I would definitely come back here especially when its not so busy so we could fully enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance and enjoy a more relaxed meal.. The staff did a good job and were definitely kept on their toes...

Stopped by as a last minute lunch. Sat in the garden on a beautiful day. Food was fab, fresh and tasty. Will definitely be back.

Poor quality food ,food returnd cold and then they forgot to bring a fresh one back , husbands food on return had been microwaved very disappointing, I'd avoided this place as much better pub food in the area.

After a week of still trying to come to terms with what I experienced, nobody has even bothered to contact me regarding the matter. I shall hold fire on the details and just say it room 27. If I don't hear anything, the next stop will be a solicitor.

Always good food and service here. Kids are looking forward to the new park outside. Staff are always friendly and food is always served on time.

Called in to get off A1 roadworks , it's a couple of miles from home ,not visited for years but enjoyed a lovely breakfast and will definitely call more often, The barman was very friendly .

Come regularly for lunch with my mum at least once a week food is always fab. Good value for money Staff are always friendly especially molly she's very friendly and approachable. Great experience

Don't judge this book by its cover. The Darrington was an ideal stopover for our family: quiet, clean, well-serviced and welcoming. Whether it was dinner in the pub, sleeping in our room or breakfast with a friend, we could not fault the staff or facilities. Molly was an outstanding hostess and we would thoroughly recommend The Darrington for any young families passing through.

Nice stay. Room adequate, standard pub grub. Hubby vegan and had plenty of choice. Must give a special mention to the staff, without exception they are so nice and helpful. From checking in to eating and drinking in the pub they have been lovely. Would be happy to recommend The Darrington.

Lovely food and atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially Molly and Caroline, Caroline gave me advice on a vegetarian option and it was lovely.

Food was average. Seem to be smaller portions from what I remember. Had to get our own cutlery etc. which gave a "canteen" kind of feeling.

Me and my friend went for lunch and what a lunch it was we were greeted by a lovely Scottish man called Christopher he made us feel so welcome our food was lovely we will also be joining the quiz on Tuesdays.

Just had a roast dinner loved that the food is really good guys the staff are ace too might have to bagg myself a northern bird I reckon 😀 😉

Never had a bad experience here, including today! Always made to feel like you're listend to and thanks to Molly who happily resolved my grandma's chicken (she likes it cooked well)

Now then, I have a confession to make. I'm not local to this restaurant/ hotel. In fact I live miles away in Rugby, Warwickshire. I was stuck in traffic en route home from Edinburgh on a BH Friday and yep - I needed a wee. I managed to remove myself from stationary traffic going nowhere fast, just happy to be moving to be honest. Took a slip road off the A1, turned right at a junction and this place shone out like a huge plumbing beacon and my bladder guided me into the car park (which was rammed by the way, always a sign the place is popular) parked up and did the be t over double penguin walk to the facilities. I used the disabled one as I have prostate cancer requiring room to maneuver, you don't need all the details eh? However I can report clean, functional facilities, even on a very busy BH Friday evening . So apologies Darri gton, I didn't have time to dine with you but thank you for being an oasis for me.......and my bladder! Malcolm Clarke Rugby Warwickshire May 2024

Food was cold and not edible not given what was advertised and had to go and ask for what we ordered more lettuce than a rabbit could eat

The room was huge and clean but there was an unfortunate stale smell in the bathroom. I was staying on a work trip and the people were all super friendly and nice. I think there was a speaker directly under my room floor because it was noisy, stopped at 11 pm and started at 7am. I felt comfortable and the place is huge. Food was good value and I defo enjoyed it.

Tried the mega breakfast and was a bit disappointed. Everything was piled on the beans in the middle of the plate and most of the food was lukewarm at best. Shame!

Lovely lunch Food was excellent Used Tesco vouchers but they do do 2 for 1 at lunchtime on classic menu Mon-Fri

Stayed 4 nights for work. Book direct and save 20% on food! Needs a prawn cocktail on iceberg lettuce for a starter! Breakfast is great! Cloudy apple juice or orange juice. Nice. Full English is great. Give greater prominence to GF foods and also Milk free! It's a growing need! You could easily do this. Really loved the room. Great space and comfortable! Consider a plastic skirting board on bath panel. MDF will always destroy itself. Will defo recommend the Darrington. Great staff! Great food! Great place! Thankyou! I shall return!

We arrived to book in and the pub/rooms were having a small crisis with the boiler not working…. Molly was a Super heroine! She was 100% informative of the situation and took care of booking us in making sure that we were fully aware of the situation. Molly is the reason we would come back and stay again. We have spent the afternoon in the bar eating and drinking! What a good stay!

Great meal. One small issue. Whilst I was enjoying a well deserved pint at my local establishment, the sun decided to wage war on my eyes. This would have been avoided if you had taken my suggestions seriously but still my cries fall on deaf ears. You need to do better!

Stayed two nights at this lovely homely hotel, staff (especially Molly who is a credit to the company ) couldn’t be more lovely and helpful. Food was lovely, room was nice and airy, bed was very comfortable! Definitely recommend The Darrington!

Molly is a really customer focused person. When I went to the bar for a coffee there was already a few people waiting so I sat back at my table to carry on working. Thinking I would wait for the queue to go down. Molly appeared at the table with a Latte 10 mins later! This, and the fact when I arrived Molly directed me to a table with a plug socket without me asking. Very perceptive.

Called in without a booking not a problem plenty of places to sit. Friendly staff and a quick service. I don't normally do pudding but would recommend the sweet nachos. Could have done with some quiet background music. Apart from some child sounded like it was been tortured, quite enjoyable.

So ate here twice and the first meal was OK I opted for the sizzling steak went back for breakfast and had the mega breakfast which was OK but the sausage was fridge cold the staff were lovely and it was reasonably priced just a shame it wasn't cooked properly ordered a caramel latte but got a regular Americano

Come for my partners first Mother’s Day, and really disappointed to say the least. Partners Sunday roast came cold so sent that back for another. my pint glass was filthy, we were then seated and greeted with the previous customers rubbish that had been left on the table and not cleaned. By the time I had eaten my meal, my partner just wanted to leave so she didn’t even eat as she was still waiting for her meal to come back out it was taking that long. The staff were friendly that’s the only positive.

The darrington has become a local to us over the last few weeks, food is affordable and tasty and very filling, our experience tonight was also lovely the bar staff and lady who greeted us were really nice and made sure they made our experience enjoyable even though they were busy it still felt personalised, we will be coming again, love Sam and Alex

I needed assistance to find a local address I was visiting and the staff were most helpful.

Annabel served me and had great customer service, she was very attentive and helped me with any questions I had.

Had an issue with one of the meals ordered. The staff could not have ben more helpful in rectifying the issue

Went for breakfast 2024. Can't say the standard was the same as previous visits. I am not someone who likes to moan at things, and I very rarely do. But.. I actually dabbed the grease off my fried eggs and plate. The hash brown also very greasy. My Partner had the scrabbled eggs and they had the opposite problem, these were very dry. Everything felt deep fried. If i need to say a positive, The bacon was nice. The staff as always were friendly. And the place was clean and tidy. The menu has some tempting choices, but a bit reluctant to try given this experience. Would have been nice less all the grease.

Where we go as a family on a Monday or a Tuesday sometimes it's packed sometimes it's not the meals are very nice and well worth drink are expensive though but I suppose they have to make the money somewhere.

Two of us in our party had a Sunday roast 1 beef and 1 turkey . We were really disappointed when it came out, I'm not sure what kind of mashed potatoes they use but there were not real and got a very small portion maybe a table spoon full , the veg was obviously frozen veg and poor quality this has by far got to be the worst Sunday roast I've ever had, we then wanted to share a dessert so I went to order what was on the menu only to be told it was no longer available overall id not reccomend the roast dinner here

Very clean place with extremely friendly staff,had a good stay and would use again. Breakfast was plentiful and nicely done and evening meal was okay but mains weren't up to much, maybe made wrong choice but was the only downside so would recommend this place to people.

Just home from a shocking night here! Been a few times before and always been decent,but we went for hubby's birthday tonight and it was appalling service. I cant blame the people working as they were clearly massively understaffed and rushed off their feet. On arrival we could not see our reserved table,every table was occupied or had dirty plates on it. There was a queue at the bar one person trying to deal with people just wanting drinks, people placing food orders and people waiting to be seated at booked tables. Eventually another member of staff appeared and went to look for our table, he returned and explained someone else had sat there and he had to move them. We got seated then had to queue to order our food. When it came there was 4 meals for 5 of us, we waited but then had to queue at the bar to ask where the missing meal was. It then came ten minutes after the other 4 meals. Afterwards my daughters ordered desserts and we waited and waited but nothing came, so again we had to go to the bar to be told you've had them, no we haven't, we are table 35, then were told table 25 had eaten them! Brilliant nice freebie for them,nice of them to steal our daughters desserts. We had to get refunded for the desserts, table 25 stole them and my daughters went without. All we got was a sorry. Late meals,missing desserts and we just got a sorry. Absolute shambles from start to finish! Night for hubby's birthday completely ruined. Get enough staff or don't take bookings that you can't accommodate. Shame as up until now had always enjoyed it here,but can't see us visiting again after tonight's chaos.

We found the staff to be so friendly and obliging. However the place is well overdue of a makeover. Broken floor tiles at the entrance is not a good first impression. The walls and wooden panelling are scratched and marked. It looks really tired. Certainly not somewhere that I’d take my family for a meal. Your staff deserve better as do your customers. Best of luck.

Good selection of beers. A large outdoor child's play area at the rear, which is under tree cover. Large, free car park. Food is served quick on Ok. The pub/restaurant is looking tired and aged. A deep clean and refresh is needed.

By far the filthiest place I have been in. Dead flies everywhere, surfaces covered in a thick layer of dust. Went to get a high chair for my little one and they were all splashed with old dried food. Food up the walls and trod into the carpet too. Seems like a nice place from the outside but it has been a first and last visit. The microwaved food with a skin on top really didn’t help either. All round disgusting.

Rooms are super big and really hospitable. Staff are all friendly and super helpful, great place for kids soft play really helps, breakfast was really good value for money. The manager was absolutely lovely ❤️

Food is standard chain food, we always ask for well done steak on a mixed grill and don't always get it, the staff are lovely. Lost a point for no warm/hot water in the toilet handbasin, and the hand dryer not working either.

I've been for food several times,but it will be our last time after yesterday. We got our food to which my sons steak was flat cold, the chips was all brown and scabby,I had a burger which wasn't piping hot either,the place needs a good paint and the window ledge was full of dead flys and was wasps. Not very nice to see. Won't be returning
