Darrington in Wakefield

We're here visiting family over Easter and the staff at the Darrington have been wonderful! Especially Belle, who hosted the Easter breakfast this morning, which our two kids really enjoyed. Highly recommend 🐰🩷

Today we attended the breakfast with the Easter bunny event at the Darrington pub. My little girl had the best time from start to finish! There was so many fun things for the children to take part in and it was such a good price! Everything from little Easter painting crafts, chocolate eggs, Easter egg hunts, a visit from the Easter bunny and a full English for the kids!! The member of staff ‘Belle’ who looked after us was absolutely amazing, my little girl loved her! She was so involved, making sure all the children were having the best time and providing the best customer service! We will definitely be returning next year!!

Went today 4 of us with a little dog for a meal, ALL 3 staff that we encountered were lovely welcoming and friendly, two females and a male. We ordered at the bar, and the food came in quick time and was cooked to perfection, the mix it up Sizzlers were delicious. We will come here again, highly recommend.

Lovely o/night stay... Food always good at Hungry Horse , thanks to Chefs Lucas, Oliver & Reece (Excited to have GF burger & it was good!)..All the staff so friendly ..thanks Belle for helping me manage the gluten free options , which were plentiful..so happy to have crumble! Room fine, beds firm, but slept so well. Skirting boards need some attention, and the bathroom too (may suggest providing shower cap as only overhead shower). Would stay again for lay over en route to Northumberland...

We use darrington hotel for food regular over the last 19 years We sometimes have good meals and sometimes average Today we had a not so very good meal just the 1 out of 3 but can I say it was handled out of this world by Molly who was always on the go in the restaurant she made us feel so privileged as a customer and honestly couldn’t offers us enough I think the world would be a better place with such customer service MOLLY gave us a defo 10/10 There’s a saying I us all the time and I think MOLLY as the same approach never a problem always a solution and she smashed

Wonderful, friendly and welcoming staff. We went on a whim on a Saturday night and didn’t realise there was a quick fire quiz on - we were informed of the quiz which ran smoothly, and we ended up winning! 😌

Great quiet place for breakfast, with good veggie and vegan options. Service from Chris was as friendly as always.

Stayed here for 3 weeks. Had breakfast and dinner everyday. Staff were very friendly and accommodating

Nipped in for a spot of lunch. The food was lovely....we had the crispy chicken sandwhich and the salmon sizzler. 😋. (Shout out to the chefs Damien & Lucas) Our servers (Molly & Karen) were extremely friendly & patient (we were slightly indecisive). Would recommend & we'll definately go back.

Room clean and tidy everything I could need the bar was nice and food fantastic Erin and Caroline done a fantastic job very professional and helpful if every pub had these 2 as staff the pub trade would be booming again Reece and Lucas cooked a brilliant steak and plenty of chips was nice to actually have a plate full of food.

A pleasant stay at The Darrington Hotel - the room was broadly on a par with Premier Inn as was the breakfast. The service (Chris in particular) was very good. One small point, the lock for the room (2) only engaged fully if you slammed the door and it didn’t feel too secure. Other than that all good.

Family birthday meal, the food was exceptional and the service was impeccable, molly and Elliot were super friendly and helpful, the live entertainment was also a nice added bonus, please pass on out thanks to Molly, Elliot and the chefs Katie and Lucas.

Had a cornflake chicken burger for breakfast it was lovely and affordable

Came for a family brekkie and the service was fantastic. Food was what you expect from a hungry horse, tasty and hit the spot. Serving staff couldn’t do enough to help us, went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed. Even sorted out when I mixed up one of the parties orders - my fault entirely but she fixed it no problem for us.

Visited for meal. Molly was super kind, chatty and friendly which cheered us up after a long week at work. Food was lovely as always.

Visited with family as we was up visiting. The food was fantastic, nice and hot and plenty off it! Molly our waitress was absolutely amazing too! The vibe was good. They was a quiz but we was a little late to par-take! Our desserts was also amazing even tho the kitchen had closed they still made them for us which we really appreciated.! The only down for us was when we first arrived and ordered our drinks the bar maid really did not want to be at work and it showed which really let all the other team down as everyone else was cheerful, happy and very pleasant.

Had breakfast at the pub and wasn’t the best. There was a few of us and ordered our food at the same time but it all came out at different times and someone only had toast and their food didn’t come out until we had nearly finished our food. The food was cold and deep fried. Deputy manager didn’t know about the menu when we told her the order was wrong. Molly was an amazing person. Very welcoming and understood our complaints. Molly is a great staff member!

Called in while passing on our way to York had a breakfast highly recommended That the second time we were on our way to Pontefract had lunch, the service was very good, friendly staff food was good 👍

Had a great New Year's Eve thanks to the team at the Darrington. The evening was so well planned with great entertainment whilst having our meal and drinks. We even had brilliant live singing to enjoy thanks to one of the staff Molly, she was amazing! Every member of staff made us feel happy to be there and in their company. Well done and thanks to everyone involved in organising this event!

Absolutely brilliant, me and my partner travelled up to Durham from South Wales, this was a lovely little stop early this afternoon, what a wonderful place, staff were amazing, coffee? stunning loads of options & meal choice absolutely heaven for the foodies, I had the steak sizzler, so tender😍

Christmas Day was absolutely fantastic. Excellent value for money. Food outstanding. Molly is an absolute legend a perfect host. She's always welcoming and helpful. Also her fundraiser for McMillan Cancer Support is awesome. Always happy to support

Service generally quick, food always excellent, we especially like the Quadzilla burgers! We like the darts board and pool table, staff all very friendly, app works well

Brought the kids in today to see Santa and can honestly say they had the most amazing time. Molly, Karen and Charlie were great with the kids and couldn't have done more for them, thank you girls.

Decent, reasonably priced, family fayer, in a well kept pub on the edge of a beautiful village.

The food was absolutely terrible despite around a 40 minute wait (wasn’t that busy at all) Who knew a Sunday lunch could be done SO badly and come with what we could only assume was Bernard Matthew’s turkey slices. We’ve also had minor food poisoning from this meal…shocking!

I have only ever visited this hotel on multiple occasions for meals as a family, on a regular basis. Due to the fact of the excellent service and amazing depth of beautiful meal deals, every time the food is amazing both the choices of meals and the presentation also brilliant prices. Every time I have been I am sure to brag about it and recommend it.

Cracking food, very friendly staff.

We attended yesterday,, my wife had scampi meal,, scampi should not,, but was Luke warm at best,, chips were warmed up, will not be going back,, disappointing

This is a very basic hungry horse. And very dated and could do with a revamp. Plenty of tables and free parking.

Passed many times on journeys but first time visit. Hungry Horse outlet and hotel in large building. Food excellent today, took advantage of Tuesday £9 mix-it-up offer of cheese and jalapeño sausage sizzler, onion rings and fries with Frank's red-hot sauce. Very unusual and interesting breakfast items too. No hand pulled ales and apparently no longer going to have but decent Greene King pale from font. Pleasant and friendly staff. Some customers looked like Emmerdale extras ☺ Blue Light discount card can be used...

A hughly popular place with vegan options ( not me) Good variety on menu Friendly and smiley staff. Good range of drinks. Not overly priced.

Amazing experience...Karen was very welcoming...checked that everything was ok with our meal. Interacted well with the kids. Karen made our visit really enjoyable. 🤣

Came to stay in the hotel and nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic customer service, Chris was friendly and remembered us from check in through to check out.

I can only give it a 3 star rating for atmosphere as I called in when it wasn't busy. The food & service was excellent.

Me and my family booked online just incase it was busy. We arrived and waited and no one came to greet us. There were two people behind the bar chatting and laughing and didn’t acknowledge us until one of us coughed and asked if we can be seated to be told “just sit wherever, it’s not busy.” - ok thanks. We ordered and the food came. It was dry, stodgy, my son isn’t a fussy eater for a 2 year old but he didn’t touch his at all, spat it back out. The lasagne was hot on the top and luke warm throughout which is dangerous for meat, the chicken wings came and they looked like they’d been under a hot lamp for days, no seasoning whatsoever and they were left. We asked for a refund on 2 of the meals, the manager was nice enough to do this with no complaints which makes me wonder how many people ask for a refund. Wetherspoon’s do a better job at food and we should have gone there, sorry.

We had 8 meals and most of the meals were fine with the exception of my daughter’s Nachos and she left more or less the whole meal. The candy mania wasn’t as good as normal but every other meal and pudding were fine.

Stayed for 2 nights lovely clean room and staff couldn't do more for you x would definitely stay again.

Excellent food and service everytime

We stayed overnight with children and had 2 family rooms. The rooms had recently been refurbished and were large and comfortable. The service manager was welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.The breakfast was excellent- especially the full English with no charge for the children. At £53 per room early bird room only rate it was extremely good value.

Caroline our servicer was extremely welcoming and friendly as we are from Scotland down visiting friends. Food was great and venue / staff were welcoming. Great value for money.

We arrived when a local steam rally was on so the car park was quite full with tractors and steam engines but still had many spaces.. The front external seating area was full with people enjoying the hot summer day with friendly atmosphere and polite conversations.. On entry to the bar areas it was very full .. We went through and into the outside seating areas to the rear .. using the online app we were able to order food and drinks... ( the drinks app took the orders but staff informed us once they brought out the meals it wasn't putting the orders through so they didn't know anything about our drinks.. soon rectified and staff apologised for the delay and problems) The garden furniture was slightly dated but suitable for purpose.. The children's play area was under construction??? All caged off ... There were nice quiet seating areas around the sides.. also a dog friendly establishment.. The meals were served in good time and were of a good quality.. ( a credit to the staff when it was as hot and as busy as it was ) The empty glasses and plates from tables were being cleared regularly but tables could be wiped down ready for next customers 🤔 ( I know it was busy but would look healthier).. I would definitely come back here especially when its not so busy so we could fully enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance and enjoy a more relaxed meal.. The staff did a good job and were definitely kept on their toes...

Stopped by as a last minute lunch. Sat in the garden on a beautiful day. Food was fab, fresh and tasty. Will definitely be back.
