The Kirklands hotel in Wakefield

Just called in for lunch on Thursday. Nice environment although a bit on the cool side. Good choice of home cooked food. Wife hD the meat pie with chips and peas. Pie was excellent, nice pastry and good portion of meat. Chips nicely cooked, triple cooked I think. I had yorkshire pudding and pork sausages. Reasonably priced but would have been happy to pay more for better quality sausages, they said no one else had complained so maybe its just me. Definitely worth a visit and a bite to eat.

We've just had our painters meeting AGM today. We all had a meal, and the food was super. Steak and ale pie with chips and peas was excellent. The service was first class, and the staff are wonderful. We go every month. It's a lovely pub.

About 50 of us attend a funeral tea for my father in law at the Kirklands. Honestly couldn't fault it. The food was fantastic and plentiful, coffee and tea kept flowing and the service from the staff was very professional and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend.

I really enjoyed our lunch here - quality food and drink and excellent value. The pub is welcoming, clean and fresh. The new proprietors are doing great work and deserve every success.

Beautiful lovingly home made food. Lovely warm welcome from the new owners. We had burgers with the most delicious triple cooked chips. I honestly can't speak highly enough of the whole meal and service.

The staff are so friendly and such a lovely atmosphere too . The food wow the food is amazing I would highly recommend you to friends and family . We can't wait to visit again.

Visited 6th of November 24 for evening food and drinks, the pub is immaculately clean , staff friendly and helpful. Food was excellent freshly prepared and full of flavour. Will definitely visit again soon.

Not been here for a while, because service and cleanliness was very poor. Reopened 25th October 24 under new management. Called in for a quick drink. Not disappointed. New carpets, lick of paint, toilets fixed. Fresh and feels welcoming. Staff great.

Hey, Yo. So my gal and I jumped off the bus, it was hot and we were thirsty. Beautiful build, so let's try. Interesting interior. The staff was very nice. No nozzles on pumps. This was after one. Lady had to run for lemons at the shop. Most places have this lemon shortage!! Think they scrimping. Contact less was down and had to go to 2 shops, and I ended up with £1.50 charge. Told staff but no compensation. Great seating outside next to awesome church. Finally, I sat down to enjoy my beer...

Went to a birthday party yesterday The two staff never looked at us on entry or when leaving and never a smile throughout. The way they were dressed they could have been anyone One was seen vaping behind the bar. The lass collected empty glasses from The tables never acknowledged people helping her by passing empty glasses nearer to her. Not likely to go back.

Used the hotel for a wake after a funeral. The staff couldn't have been more attentive. Facilities were clean if a little tired. Can't comment on any more as we didn't use anything else.

Nice , grounds could do with a tidy up . Cosy bar .

We decided to bob in for some lunch and we wasn't disappointed. The staff are really friendly and it was really busy and a little loud with people watching the football and clearly local residents that play sports in the area but where ate it was in a quiet little library area. The food didn't take to long to come out and the portions were generous and homemade which made all the difference. I ordered the Sunday dinner and a pudding as it was 2 courses for 11.50 and my hubby got a sandwich and mushroom starter. The food was tasty and beautifully cooked and I went for the large size and regretted lol it was a huge portion and I couldn't eat it all and didn't finish all my pudding but the pudding tasted amazing. The drinks weren't too expensive and we had a really good experience overall. Would definitely go back for a meal

Was there to celebrate a friends birthday. Had a great night. Staff friendly and helpful. Has a friendly atmosphere.

Over £13 for 2 pints! Staff were pleasant enough but lacking in basic manners. The manager/staff were completely engrossed with each other, there smart phones and the local clique. The carpet hadn't been hoovered in a day or two as there were crisps etc on the carpet, and the day and time we visited I would have expected the carpet to have been hoovered that day. Staff changing baby nappies at the bar on the stools was not a good advertisement. The beer I had was flat and tasted stale so I left nearly a full pint, no point in complaining as it would have been to no avail I think. My partners lager was also flat, it's not rocket science to keep a decent cellar!
