Ghandi Spice in Wakefield

Last night I got a chicken vindaloo with all the sundries. I have been eating curries especially hot ones for over 35 years and this curry was definitely the best I have had in many years so tasty. This post was done nearly 2 years ago, I had the same meal a week ago and the curry was absolutely awfull weather the chef has been changed or what i can't understand why it has changed so much. Horrible curry.

Amazing how the brilliant staff on the phone are let down by the owner/manager when it comes to feedback.. Does not care about constructive feedback and would rather insult your intelligence and you spend money somewhere else even after you have championed them online with great reviews.. I came back once and was talked round but never again.

Diabolical attitude from management that should not reflect on the normal guys on the phone who are brilliant.. Doesn't give a hoot about genuine feedback from long standing (Ex) customers.. Would rather lose a customer of over 3 years then simply add an extra spoon full of sauce to a dry dish.. It's called feedback for a reason and wasn't even a complaint just a suggestion but now you can stick it where the sun doesn't shine. Absolutely disgusted with your bad attitude and rude tone no matter how friendly I tried to be. Been highly recommending for over 3 years but never again.. I feel sorry for your great staff I really do..

My favourite restaurant to go for a curry, excellent service and great food recommended

A friend lives locally and I had my second visit last night. The meal was lovely and staff were attentive. Would definitely go again. Many visits later and have not had a bad meal

Just had a takeaway from these in which I waited over an hour an half for it to arrive after ringing twice to ask where my order was. The food was appalling, it came barely warm, the chips were just full of oil and greasy! The chicken pakora was just mainly batter. Absolutely disappointed and disgusted to say the least! Waste of £20 and certainly won’t be recommending to anyone!

We often go to Gandhi Spice for family get- togethers as it is comfortable and friendly. Moreover, food and service are consistently excellent. Our last visit was as enjoyable as ever. Ghandi Spice continues to be a family favourite!

Ordered a Lamb Tikka Dopiaza and it was a 10/10, amazing food-very tasty, quick and free delivery, great and friendly service, will definitely be coming back, thank you!

Ordered delivery and it didn't arrive. They still took money from my bank account which unless I'm mistaken is theft. About 2 hours after I ordered i attempted to contact the restaurant but was ignored. I have since tried contacting the restaurant about the matter but was again ignored. Clearly they don't want to accept their mistake. They appeared to exploit the fact I ordered by card so could take the money without delivering food. My advice is to pay in cash when food is delivered. Send me the evidence. So far I've emailed you 3 times and you haven't replied. I've only reviewed one other takeaway so who is lying.

Just fancied a change from our normal take away. So glad we chose Gandhi Spice. The menu is large and varied. We had mixed special kebab, ( spicy but so tasty). Jaflongee and also Masaka and they were absolutely amazing. Both the lamb and the chicken were so tender and so tasty. Not too much heat, but both of us loved them. Accompanied with perfect pilau rice and chapatis . This is the best Indian we have had in a long time and with such a varied menu we'll be having more. Definitely worth the money and not too expensive. Many thanks to staff, chefs and delivery guy..5 stars from us..

Poor quality food rice undercooked and over priced for what we had

Ordered takeaway didn't arrive. Paid on card so I paid. Money wasn't returned. I emailed restaurant and got no response regarding the matter. Left a review and then the owner lied claiming it had been delivered.

Very quiet which is a good thing I suppose. But with no people, there's no atmosphere. This was on a Friday evening.

Food is always top notch and the tikka masala is to die for. Amazing service as always!

Great service but had a tandoori mixed grill and the meat was over cooked .

Can't say enough good things about Gandhi Spice. These guys are in a class of their own in all departments. When you call to order you get a polite and enjoyable experience with knowledgeable and helpful staff happy to explain or alter your meal to suit your taste. Delivery is always faster than they tell you and the delivery guys are just smashing personalities. The food is always exceptional. I don't order from anywhere else now because they can't be beaten. Food was great I had the rogan josh. Really enjoyed the food no complaints from any of us. There was 8 of us for sut down meal and service was first class. Meals served together. Definitely recommend 👌

Friendly staff, amazing food! Children balti saag is a game changer, it was so good I ordered the same again the next night! Only issues are the naans are a bit thick, but everything else was perfect. Food was fresh and piping hot

Food was not nice and had no spice.First and last time we will be eating from here.Very disappointed

I had starters mix special kebab and main course was chicken al mashriqui with a garlic naan. It was excellent and very nice food.

Disgusted with our treatment! Saw a rat run down the stairs and was told this happens a lot, our starters were clap cold so they replaced them with another cold starter. When I complained we were told we were liars. I stuck my finger in the middle to prove how cold it was and was told to get out and that we were barred! Needless to say we shall never set foot in there again!

The service was great but the food was very average . I had to send my fish starter back as it wasn’t cooked and the curry was watery and tasted as though it had been reheated and just had spices added at the last minute. I would not recommend as it wasn’t cheap but the quality was poor.

Usually get take outs which used to be really good. Gone downhill recently so using another curry house for a while.

The food is dry, the chicken had no spices to taste and was dry and the southern fried chicken is just bad and is probably from some other place. Im drunk and i hate this. Life is so disappointing after covid my life has been on a downward spiral, im thinking that there is no hope anymore and THIS FOOD DOES NOT HELP thats it its all over im going to flood the room with carbon monoxide. Thanks for wasting my money. I wish I could get a refund

Food for six people none arrived together sides missing rice missing for one main came out 15 minutes later by then we had sent back the main as it was cold the rice then arrived 5 minutes later the main came back minus a plate for which we had to wait was another 5 minutes none of the food was upto a good standard really dissapointed the staff were openly rude all of us can't find anything to recommend this restaurant

Generally I’m quite easy going, and the food is always great, but on on the last few occasions our food has turned up an hour late, after the time we were told it would be delivered , only to find out , half of the order was missing aswell good food, crap service and delivery, won’t use again after giving them a second/third chance🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

Ghandi Spice has always been a family favourite. But the way in which they treat their customers is disgusting. My order went through online twice (I was charged twice) I quickly rang the restaurant to let them know, they wouldn’t refund me but offered me a credit note, not a problem times are tough for businesses. Fast forward to using said credit note, Ali took off the PayPal processing fee and the card transaction fee from when my order duplicated, which I personally think is extremely cheeky. We ordered food to collect I was stood in the restaurant waiting to collect for 25 mins, I had already ordered and came at the time I was told. The food wasn’t even hot when I got it home! The chips were clap cold and the starters we ordered were greasy. Overall very disappointing and we will not be returning, I’d tell you to avoid at all costs.

Always great food whether eat in or take away

Really nice food but let down by a slovenly young waiter who had very little care or attention. Main meal was really tasty and would recommend the food definitely

Lovely food great service only criticism is the toilets and stairway aren't that clean.

I would have given 5 stars but the chips were soggy and slightly warm. And the onion bhajis were cold, everything else was hot and very tasty.

Would have been 2 stars but the food hiked it to 3. Service was attentive but then we were only ones in on what had been a warm day. Waiters were dull, little etiquette and an obvious BO prob. I had to put our starter plates on the next table to make room for mains! Brought our bottle of wine in a one of those silly shiny alloy pouring racks and still spilled it on the tablecloth.

Charged £4 for pickle tray that wasn't requested and took 45 minutes from ending starters to being asked for main course. 3 people £45.

Great stuff and food shame the building is getting run down. The stairs carpet and toilet needs updating. When going to the toilet seeing the staff wash the cutlery in the sink next to you is abit unhygienic

My first time at Ghandhi Spice. Spot on! Great flavour, beautifully tender lamb and chicken. Kulcher naan was gorgeous. Thoroughly recommend.

Arrived with no booking( 4 people). The place had only one table occupied so we were quickly accommodated. The menu, like all curry houses , is extensive..so much so it is difficult to know what to choose. Eventually I settled on the mixed special. Food was delivered promptly. The portions are generous. My dish was excellent...tasty and not too hot from chillies etc. service was excellent. very professional and the waiters looked smart in their waist coats. The only disappointment were the loos. Only one each for either sex and they are also shared by the staff. They could do with a splash of paint and please replace the bar of soap with liquid soap. More hygienic. Will come again

Food is always amazing here and the staff are so welcoming and friendly! After frequenting for several years with various family members the team always ask how my family are all doing which is so lovely. Never had a bad meal - food always tastes very fresh, good portion sizes and not greasy at all. Highly recommend the chicken al-mashriqi and the lamb tikka korai! Also fab for takeaway/delivery - prompt and arrives hot!

Friendly welcome and friendly and timely service. Food very very good - chicken chilli masala and very nice (and big) naan bread. Had poppadoms and pickle tray to start but pickle tray, although big, was not great, although not the the extent that I’d mark down from 5. Would visit again if in the area.

First time ordering from here. Excellent food, a little expensive but definitely worth it.

Chops chewey (undercooked) Fish breyani (fish was cooked separately from the rice so fish was bland and flavourless. Chicken had a sickly sweet sauce poured over it and again no flavour chicken tasted like boiled chicken.

First visit and was very happy with my meal. Will definitely call back when in the area.

We’ve used Ghandi spice in the past for takeaways but not for a while. We ordered tonight- the chicken al mashriqui and it was the most beautiful food we have ever tasted... including eating at some really well known restaurants. So fresh, tasty and hot. Can’t wait until our next one, thanks ghandi xx

Went last night ..stood at door while waiter was on phone .. totally ignored us .. restaurant was empty.. he finished phone call and then went behind bar .. not a single acknowledgement..Rude.. didnt get our money last night ..

Different curry ordered. All taste same . All red colour. Absolutely rubbish will never use this restaurant again . Used it for takeaway. Don’t know if it’s different eating in . But they really need to look at how Asian cook. And it’s was expensive

Rubbish curry ive ever had all different dishes and meats all taste same , the curries must be made with sauces in a jar and too hot 27 pounds for a disaster, i would never order again

My Favourite Indian Bangladeshi Restaurant/Takeaway The Best Indian/ Bangladeshi Restaurant Takeaway In Yorkshire, The Service Is Excellent, The Manager Is Extremely Very Helpful As He Used To Go To The Same Independent School And Class As My Nephew .

Frequent customers here and we love the food. Sometimes we go down to sit in, other times we order take out. Unfortunately after a few bad experiences recently in the restaurant itself, we now just order take out. The place is often empty and so the staff are loitering around with little to do, looking like they’d rather be elsewhere. When the food arrives it’s sort of placed on the table and that’s about it - nobody asking if the food is ok etc. Real shame.

Been to a couple of pubs with my boys and finished off at this favourite Indian of ours. As always food was spot on. Lovely food, attentive staff nothing too much of a bother and I would highly recommend it.

First time at Ghandi spice with my family tonight. Excellent food very friendly and polite staff made us very welcome. Will certainly come here again.

Visited here for the first time in a while after work and found it very hit and miss. It has slipped somewhat since my last visit. There appeared to be two new and additional waiters to the existing usual staff despite it being extremely empty. They weren't very good or professional though. One thing I am not too keen on is to be asked if everything is okay with my food at the moment I have just taken a mouthful and then being stared at for what seemed like an eternity until I could speak. Ordered the Garlic Chilli Chicken and the sauce was really nice and was the best part of the meal. The chicken, however was of a poor quality that was quite noticeable. A 3 out of 5 is quite generous as they have quite a few things to do to turn it around. Have visited or ordered takeaways from here many times in the past, but am unsure as to whether this will be my last visit. There is much better competition in the surrounding area.

Disappointing. Food mediocre mine wasn’t as described on menu. Service disorganised with dishes being brought out randomly with items missing.

Take away ordered, delivered it to house across Rd after an hour, then an hour and 40 mins later it turns up WRONG ORDER, driver argued that it was delivered to me correct, but after explaining when he finally decided to listen He realised mistake, curry cold, chips re heated, won’t be ordering again !

Good food and friendly staff. We noticed that the staff were very accomodating for a young child at another table and in altering the chilli content of other guests’ food. We had the Bengal Murgh Masala and Lamb Handi and thoroughly enjoyed both. We will order takeaways from here and be back in the future.

Best Indian food in ossett, I would definitely recommend this to anyone, they also have a takeaway service that is reliable and fast, I am definitely going to be using here every time

Food nice but didn't feel like staff wanted us there. No smiles when greeted or when taking order at table.

I have loved takeaways from here, but for the 4th time in a row, it was bland, tasteless and cold. Naan burnt, Tarka Dahl like water with raw clumps of garlic. £10 for 3 king prawns in a tomato paste sauce. Please sort it out.

Ordered food for takeaway collection. Order took much longer than stated. 45 mins turned into an hour 30. Leaving us sat in the restaurant waiting, no drink offered to us while we waited. The curry’s were watered down and thin, the chicken within the curries looked and tasted like frozen precooked meat. Won’t be going again!

I have been going to this Indian for well over 10 years now and It has never disappointed. Ordered a take away yesterday night, the food came piping hot, I was delicious and flavoursome. My order consisted of 2 Starters, Two Mains, Two Sides, A Naan and Poppadum's £31 (including delivery!!) excellent value for money, I however think that it would be beneficial for a confirmation text or e-mail to be sent out after ordering online, as we had to call to check if the order had gone through and the delivery time.
