Family meal 3 hours from start to finish waited way to long meals and service very poor very bland food

We’ve had a few takeaways from here and it’s consistently fabulous food. Everything we have had from Red Chilli is absolutely outstanding. Tender meat, good quality ingredients, loads of flavour, non-oily great quality authentic Indian food And delivery service good. Food hot when it arrives. We have only recently moved to castleford and haven’t tried the restaurant but I can see that gets great reviews for food and friendly great service too and looks nice inside so we will definitely visit

Thursday evening and we placed an order for £40 and was told delivery would be 45 minutes, that was the first mistake, after 1 hour we rang again to be.told driver was 1 minute away. Two time of ringing they ask to hold on and they would ring driver, which they did 4 times and it went to answer machine so after 1 hour 40 minutes we rang and said we don't want the food. Suprise driver turned up and said please take the food, our reply NO thank you. Driver said he had broken down so why did he not ring and ask for someone else to deliver our food. Will be a long time before we try again. Very very dissatisfied.

We had birthday party for 18 people last night, the starters and mains were amazingly cooked beautifully and well presented. Pleasing 18 people and all of them enjoying the food is no easy task. Thank you so much to you and all your staff for the effort and efficient service you provide. Highly recommend this Resturant.

We came here last night for dinner when it opened and no problem getting a table. We decided to go for the 5 courses for £12.95. For this we had popadoms and a pickle tray, onion bhaji, chicken tikka, lamb rogan josh with pilau rice and ice cream for dessert. Great food and value for money. Friendly waiters. No alcohol license, so we brought our own beer. We will be back.

Been coming here since it first opened and never had a bad meal yet, always consistent, no changes in style or substance. Wanted to put another review on as there seems to be a few bad ones going about, mainly regarding delivery food, not sure if these are genuine as they are mostly from Wakefield? There is a Red Chilli in Wakefield so that may be why. Problem is, people are fickle and a few bad reviews at the top can do a lot of damage, it hasn't been as busy the last couple of times and I'm wondering if this is the reason why. We use all the Indian restaurants in town, and this is by far the best one, locals will always come back here because they know they'll get a good value meal. The waiters are polite and friendly and food is always piping hot and comes out quick no matter how many people are in. There will always be someone disappointed in a meal, it's impossible to please everyone in the catering game, we fetch friends here from York and they love it, please keep using this Indian, it would be a shame to see this place disappear because of a few bad reviews that are to be honest, a bit suspicious of a smear campaign.

DISGUSTING!! Last week we PRE booked (the day before) a table for two & upon arrival we were kept waiting 45 minutes until a table became vacant. The staff offered no apology. We decided to give it another try as we enjoyed the food when it eventually arrived. We PRE booked 5 days in advance this time. Upon arriving we were again asked to “sit & wait”. There was another couple waiting, then two more, four more...... People started packing the waiting area out & queuing outside too (no Covid concerns in this restaurant). By now it was 8.35. There was a table with 8 seats available throughout our wait that they could have split up but they did not. I asked how much longer we had to wait & we were told “until a table became available”. As no table was near to finishing their meal we left. We were disgusted & will not return.

I ordered from here for delivery onion bhaji &mint sauce for starter and 3 chapattis &Lamb balti for main and Later on that evening it upset my stomach then I was sick!

Personally I would give this -10 stars. I ordered food from here and there was hairs in it. Phoned to complained and they denied it been there hair. I will never order food from here again. Disgusting and very unhygienic. Had no choice but to throw it away due to them not taking responsibility. I wouldnt recommend this takeaway to anyone. What I will recommend is that you stay away from this place and never order from it. Dirty filthy animals you are!!!!

Been coming here years..last time we came the service was poor along with the food compared to previous visit..put it down to them being busy..so this time.booked early doors..still very poor..was seated and was left.my partner ad to go ask to order..food was ok..maybe for a take out but certainly not restaurant standard..the staff here use to be so nice..dnt know wats happened but wont be returning in an hurry

First time we have tried here, ordered food to collect within 20mins. Nicest Indian I’ve had in a long time, the garlic chilli chicken dish is amazing! Very reasonable priced too. Best Indian in Castleford, my new favourite 👍

Dined here last night with family. Decor is a bit interesting but staff were nice enough and served us quickly. Starter was nice but I was really disappointed with the main courses. They looked really good and I have to say the lemon rice was really good but the rest of the mains seriously lacked any spice they were incredibly mild and were described as medium hot on the menu they certainly were not.Wouldn't rush back average.

This place has been my Friday Takeaway for the past three weeks. Everytime and everthing I've ordered has been absolutely gorgeous: Chicken Tikka Masala, chips and a poppadom- devine. I would highly recommend this resaurant/takeaway!

Restaurant is o.k but lately is hit and miss, if your ordering for delivery to your home don't bother. Takes an age to be delivered like 2 hrs or more and the foods usually luke warm.

Me and my wife have been going regular at least once a week since it opened.The menu is full of choices and every dish tried has been bang on.staff really friendly and can't do enough for you,best food in Castleford by a country mile

We had the onion bhajis to start, after super crispy popadums. Mains were the chicken murgh tikka, and Machli Sallom, cooked to perfection, also had some vegetable rice, which is a meal in itself. Staff were lovely and the environment is very comfortable and clean.

we normally use this restaurant to eat in, but we fancied takeaway. We ordered from the restaurant menu and it was amazing. Prompt delivery and way more than we could eat. The portions seemed larger than the ones in the restaurant. Highly recommended.

Poor service, cold plates and Luke warm food . Waited over an hour to get served seemed more concerned in supplying take out trade.

£11.99 for 5 courses on a Sunday and bring your own alcohol, absolutely no complaints here, can't go wrong for that price!!!

The food is reliably good and the menu varied. The popadoms and pickle tray is always enjoyable. Service is good, they are attentive with out being intrusive. The good range of seafood currys is what makes me return. It isn't a licensed premise, which suits me as I can bring my own choice of wine. Too many restaurants over charge for very ordinary plonk.

I had my first ever curry from Red Chilli and no other curry has matched the amazing taste! Staff are so friendly whether we have the children with us, are a couple, mixed group of friends etc. We even get our take aways from here!

My husband & I booked for a meal tonight to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated straight away, the staff were great, polite & efficient. The food was fabulous! From the pickle tray & poppadoms to the main course. The food was hot, well cooked & very tasty. A great meal out & we will happily go again.

I have been there a few times .for many different reasons .the staff are great and will do anything to make your visit good .the food is to die for .there plenty of choice. I will be going more this year as its getting hard to find a good place to eat .

I've been and had Xmas day lunch here today, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had poppadoms, starters, mains and dessert and what a treat it was. Staff were welcoming and efficient, we were promptly seated and our order taken. The decor is modern and comfortable. We took our own wine as it is not licensed but that's not a problem. I would deffo recommend this place

there was 5 of us lamb chop starter plenty & ok, for my main grandson & i ordered chicken korma it was nothing like a korma it was brown red hot taste when i told waiter he obviosuly couldnt understand all he kept saying under his annoying laughter was "it is what you both ordered", i asked for management waiter got someone else they were talking in there language when he asked me what was up & i explained korma is meant to be mild he said that was not a true korma,talking down to us husband was getting annoyed at the way they handled the situation, we could'nt eat it & they were'nt offering an alternative or refund discusting, when challenged there were 3 by then sniggering-talking there own language so god knows what they were saying about us. NEVER again

Absolutely love this curry house! Best in cas and within stumbling distance when you are full of the wine you have taken and all the food you have eaten! Great takeaway to with delivery service!!

Had visited this restaurant last year & enjoyed the food, but last Saturday was very disappointed.

We were treated to a meal here although we have eaten here several times previously .The food is always tasty and flavoursome ,the staff are very attentive and courteous ,a wonderful place to visit ,all alchohol is on a bring your own basis and they don,t charge corkage .

The food is really nice. And the sides are lovely. The staff are very nice and friendly. Would recommend the chicken jalfrezi it's beautiful. Great for a family meal or a birthday event. Reasonable prices and good portion sizes. Would recommend!

Food always spot on...dont need to go anywhere else.Menu has more choice than most curry houses. Always try something different, this will keep you coming here for months....which is a good thing.You get to take your own alcoholic drinks to this family run restaurant. Prices are very good, especially on buffet nights.

Read a few reviews on Red Chilli and one stuck out to me.... good food but no flavour. Other than that they were all good so decided to give it a try. I ordered a Lamb Jalfrezi, mushroom rice and garlic naan. The rice was good and the Lamb was nicely cooked but the Jalfrezi had absolutely no spice and no flavour then to top it all off the naan bread was barely cooked. Very disappointing. I was really in the mood for something spicy!!

Have heard great reviews and have visited the one in Wakefield which is easily as nice. I am quite fussy with meat at restaurants and am always apprehensive when I haven't been there before however was kindly surprised at how tasty the food was. The whole meal was delicious from start to finish and the service was brilliant. Will definitely be going again!

There was absolutely nothing WRONG with our food, it just didn't have any flavour. Would not eat here again.

The Take out meal was expensive and the quality poor, the chicken in the tikka massala was dry and the fish curry dish we got was also dry and the fish was dark in colour when i was expecting fresh white fish. I think it was possibly frozen fish used. The curry sauces with the meals were not great either, just mediocre. Not impressed. It mostly went in the bin. The only good bit of the meal was the poppadums and pickle tray. I will not waste my money buying from here again. Yuk!

This is a great little place. The food is gorgeous, service is great and it's a lovely restraunt. Love that you can take your own drink. Will be visiting again soon.

I live in London so I'm quite a snob when it comes to a good curry as I'm constantly surrounded by them on places like JustEat or Hungryhouse etc, however, if you're looking for a restaurant that is homely, buzzing and with great food, this is the place to go.On Fridays and Saturdays, Red Chilli can be extremely busy therefore it is best to book in advance. It is also BYOB which makes it a lot cheaper than going to places which serve alcohol. The staff are really friendly and try and seat you as quick as possible. The restaurant is clean and pretty. There are private booths as well as long tables for those who may have bigger parties. There is a fantastic range of food on the menu, just be sure to order Popadums before because they are not complimentary. However you will not be disappointed, as the selection of dips that comes with is amazing, plus you can keep them throughout your meal. I would consider this restaurant child friendly too, the crowd for me has always been friendly. However, Fridays and Saturday nights you might want to give a miss for sheer volume of people wanting curry!Definitely give this place a go!

It's been a while since I visited, living overseas now and upon my return I always like to visit Red Chilli Castleford, loving the new refurbishment and food as allways is fabulous, great value and taste.

Love this place being in Australia and not having a decent curry shop down the road is a little sad. Definitely recommend

Visited mid week. Had 5 course for £10. Booked for 8pm and was taken to our seats prompt on arrival.Service very good with a smile and all food was perfect, hot and tasty. Took our own wine which keeps price down . Plenty of people in there, all in all it was perfect couldnt fault a thing.Left happy and pleasantly full, will defo be back very soon .

First time here and enjoyed the food. Once inside the restaurant is larger than you think. It was very busy the only problem we had was that our main meals arrived before our starters. The food was lovely and tasty. Despite small hiccup would definitely go back.

I like that you can bring your own alcohol, Food is always nice whenever we visit and they do cater for people with allergies quite well x

This small (60-cover) and unpretentious restaurant and takeaway is a pleasant surprise, as the food is very good indeed and the service is friendly and efficient. There were four of us, so we started with the usual poppadums and pickles, which were up to the usual standard, but more generous than in most places. The starters (onion bhajis, liver tikka, machli pakora) were great, the onion bhajia tasty and light and the machli pakora especially good. For mains, we had lamb hyderabadi, chicken makhani, lamb afghani and a chicken tikka masala, with a spinach and paneer side dish, some chips (ugh!) and peas pillau and both plain and peshwari naan. The curries were excellent and the naan was way above average, nice and light and not at all greasy; the peshwari naan was sweet and coconutty. My wife said the peas pilau was the best ever.This is a BYOB establishment, but, if you forget, there is a Polish shop 15m away with chilled beer in the fridge or another shop just 50m away with cold beer and wines.We paid cash, and I don't think they have facilities to pay by card (but I may be wrong).We went early on a Saturday night (c 1930) and were the first customers in, but a huge birthday party arrived about 2000 and it evidently gets very busy at weekends, but is said to be quieter during the week (our daughter has been there twice this week!).

I went to the Red Chilli last night and was not disappointed. It had been some time since my last visit and the place was packed. Although the staff were rushed off their feet the service and food was excellent. They still allow bring your own. Pound for pound the best indian around

We have used this establishment many timesover the years , and have also tried the other Indian restaurants in Castleford. It is still my families opinion that the Red Chilli remains the best of its type in the town. It is comfortable and has a vibrant atmosphere where young and old are welcomed and the food is spot on. The staff are attentive and friendly.

My wife and I have eaten at the Red Chilli many times, food is always excellent. We receive a very warm welcome from all the staff, always wanting to help and advise what food will be best for your taste buds. Take your own drinks keeps the prices down. We will always be going back anytime we are out for a night in Castleford

Really nice welcoming Indian restaurant . My boyfriend and I have eaten in the restaurant and had a take out and both have been really nice and being able to take your own drink makes it a really cheap night. All the staff are welcoming, will definitely be returning.

Visited here with another couple and had a lovely meal. We had booked a table for 6.15 and when we arrived we were immediately shown to a table. My only criticism is that we were a booth and when two of the party are on the larger side to get into the booth the table was digging in our stomachs. We did ask if we could swap to a table at the other side of the room which were proper tables but they were all reserved. The food was lovely and plentiful, service prompt and courteous. It always seems like a cheap night out here because you can take your own alcohol. Would recommend a visit here

My partner is from Bradford and has recently moved into the Castleford area. He's always disappointed with the curry's from this side of the m62 and he compares them all to the Kyber in Wyke. This was the best yet, albeit still just off the Kyber mark. I had prawn en puri which was delish and he shared a lamb bhuna and a chicken saag with his daughter. Both very, very tasty. We shall certainly visit the restaurant soon.

We have visited this restaurant several times and never been disappointed. The food is consistently good and is matched by attentive and friendly service. It's not a huge place and it does get busy so best to book a table if you can. No alcohol licence so bring your own, which isn't a problem for most people.This is a great little restaurant and well worth a visit.

Iv been here a couple of times in last month and got to say it's the best around . The best food served quickly . The place is clean and well run . Weds and sun do a five course for 9.99 and never have I been anywhere and paid just that but here. I did. I don't know how they do it but they do !!!

We've been coming to Red Chilli for years but been too busy eating to pose for a photo.It's a BYOB restaurant as they don't have a licence but this is a great excuse for Beep to bring something exotic along. This means we can go through the menu and pick exactly the same things we always have.The rest of the food is no doubt pretty good too, but it's Abdul's friendly staff and the nice atmosphere that have us going back as much as the food.The new decor, complete with brightly coloured booths, isn't so much to our taste but it won't put us off as it's grand for a cheap meal out.Give it a try.

Shame for the chef who does not know how to cook makhani murgh, can some one beat that it's sweet white colour, eat that and felt to vomit, we came for once and never go back again. Also recommend others not to order this dish as it should be served in desserts.

First time visiting Red Chilli staff were friendly and the restaurant seemed lovely and clean and comfortable..We got seated to find the white table cloth was stained on more than one place with a black cloth over the top.. I dread to think what that was hiding..We started with the pickle tray which was lovely and then our mains came.. My main (chicken korma) was very bland not like a korma I've had before and the chicken had a very weird twang to it... So unfortunately this was left..I've heard a lot of people raving about this place n it's £10 feast which we booked for 2 week prior to find out on arrival it was normal menu... It's definitely at the lower end of an average review in my eyes n there are better Indians out there.. The only other positive for tonight was all four of us females were given a single red rose before leaving..

I went for the 9.99 buffet with the family. Most of the food you can not choose off the menu. I think its all the left overs from the week that they use.they call it a 5 course meal I dont call it 5 course just because I had chips and a popadom with my meal but they class that as 2 of the courses and I found a peace of plastic in my curry . Always had lovely food, a great menu choice and quick service, you take your own beer/wine ect and they give you glasses and will cork the wine for you. Because its a BYO drinks it makes for being a cheap night out.

Good food, the service was great staff very friendly and polite and really reasonable price, went for the first time a week ago but will be visiting again very shortly.

Been here a good number of times over the years never been disappointed with any of the meals here been with couples foursomes and party's of 14 or so and always been great. Had take always too but never seemed to be quite as nice as when eating in the restaurant

The food is beautiful can't knock any food we've ever eaten here! Very reasonable priced it definitely helps as it's a take your own beer restaurant which makes eating out a lot cheaper. Lovely environment however I have always found that they rush you to leave. I appreciate it's busy and they are trying to get people seated however on the past couple occasions we have been asked to leave the table as they took away our plates and drink whatever we have remaining in the foyay. Other than that lovely food!

We ordered a takeaway for two people and was told an hour. No issue with that on a Saturday night. Rang up after an hour an 10 minutes to see where they were and was told the driver had left 10 minutes previously with our food and should be there in 5 minutes. Rang again another fifteen minutes later and was told the same thing again, the guy on the phone said he'd ring the driver see where they were and phone back. He didn't. So after 1 hour and 40 minutes, we cancelled the takeaway knowing the food had been in the drivers car for 30 minutes or more. Only for her to turn up with three kids the in the car, kicking off that we wouldn't take the food. Nightmare.

We had a really nice meal at Red Chilli. It's a "Bring your own drinks" restaurant which certainly help to keep the cost down. We did have to wait quite a while for our order to be taken but after that the service was fast and friendly.The pickle tray was nice with a couple of popadoms each and when our curries arrived they were very good. portion size is generous, we were glad we hadn't ordered starters!The only disappointment was the garlic naan which was cold. soggy and not very appetising.Overall a very good restaurant, I'd recommend reserving a table as it was nearly full on the Thursday evening when we were there.

Having not been here for ages I was very pleasantly surprised by my visit yesterday. I stopped going here a while ago as the food had then gone watery and bland, but tried it yesterday as our usual haunt was shut, and was very happy to have gone as the food was great. Earlier this year they had a total refit inside and the place now has a nice restaurant feel, rather than the cheep school canteen it used to resemble. (Although the decor now is rather 'bling', diamanté on the velvet seats and glittery leopard print wall paper).There is free on street parking outside and it is an unlicensed venue, so you can take your own drinks and there is no corkage charge. They do supply free cold water or can sell soft drinks. Starters are priced from £2.50-£4.50 and mains from £6.50-£8.50. We had 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 sides and it was only £25, cos as you take your own drink that's not bumping up the bill. We had chicken chat which was made with chicken tikka and served on a hot light purée bread. This was very tasty and I would recommend. All starters seemed to come with a generous jug of yoghurt sauce. For mains we had chicken tikka karahi and a chicken sagg (spinach) balti. Both of these were very tasty and well spiced. They were made with chicken breast and were NOT swimming with red oil as you sometimes get with curried. We had these with chips and a cheese and onion nann. The nann was crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. All in all a lovely meal and we will be back again. If you've not been for a while I would recommend you go and give it a try.

Authentic beautiful Indian food, good value for money. Staff are friendly and helpful. One problem being, you could be waiting upto an hour for a table even if you've booked. Think they need an extension in the restaurant to cope with the amount of people wanting to dine.

I visit here regularly either with my husband or friends. Its a bring your own beer restaurant which makes for a cheap night out. Its always a good idea to book because it gets busy. The food is delicious and cooked fresh as you sometimes have a bit if a wait, but having your own drinks with you means its not such a problem. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the service is great. However, when its busy it can be difficult to get their attention if you need anything. Overall this is a fab local restaurant with tasty food that doesnt cost a fortune so is a regular for me. Worth a visit

Booked table for 2 saturday night for 9 o'clock,didn't get seated until 9.50 this was not a good start to the evening then the food came.The pickle tray was good, starter was ok at best but the mains were some of the worst we've ever had my wife had fish curry all you could taste was salt very overpowering i had chicken it was very dry will not return, next time red chilli 2

Not been for a long time but the last few times I went the curries were watery and bland. They have recently had a refit inside and you can take your own alcohol there with no corkage charge.

I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to Indian restaurants, being of Indian descent myself, but went in for a birthday meal tonight and was surprised at what good food you get at Red Chilli.BYOB restaurants can usually go one of two ways - they can either be cheap and "cheerful", or a hidden gem. This one was definitely the latter.Being part of a large group you usually expect the food to come out late, but these guys were on point for service, especially with their £14.50 menu. I went for the Tandoori Chicken starter, with my girlfriend and I sharing a Lamb Mint Bhuna and Chicken Karahi for main - all of which incredibly tasty, with generous portions, and none of the oily element you can sometimes get in Indian restaurants. The garlic naans were excellent.I don't really go to Castleford very often, but if I go again, I'd be happy to go back to Red Chilli.

Excellent! Friendly service, food is delicious and nothing is too much trouble. Just visited for our daughters' birthday and they surprised them with a delicious chocolate fudge birthday cake. Excellent value for money

Booked for 13 of us but rang to change to 11 on the Wednesday. Got taxis arrived early - it was very busy, had us down for a table for 4 ! Basically they had made a mistake - went to loo whilst trying to get sorted lady in loo said they had done the same with her booking !!!!! We ended up getting taxis and going to Shilty Balti in Kippax - lovely food and VERY accommodating - The manager of Red Chilli did give us Taxi costs - Will not be even trying to book here again !

Busy even at 6 30 on a Saturday evening. One of best curries I have had in ages, chicken actually tasted freshly cooked.
