Average food for not very average prices. Knock £5ish off each dish & maybe forgiveable. Poor value for money

Nice food waited a while for it to come. Prices was bit expensive. Loads on offer,only 2 disabled parking spots was full no badges display. Outside huts for if you got dogs which I was impressed with.

We had a great family meal here. Waited a while for our food but it was worth it!

Lovely selection of food and a great atmosphere here at Smokehouse. Portions are generous, we all chose a dish from the tapas menu as a starter as the prices were very similar to standard starter prices. I had the garlic, chilli prawns which were delicious. My main was the meat combo; ribs in Kansas sauce were delicious but my belly pork was a tad dry to be honest not as nice as the ribs. Would I come back? Absolutely

We'd just left Red Lodge Farm Raw Milk after restocking them with our Beetroot, Turmeric and Ginger juices. I googled restaurants near me and the Smokehouse came up. The name and bio sounded just like something I'd really like. We were not disappointed. We shared the Yorkshire pudding burger. . . It was awesome. Service was very good and the price very reasonable.

Standard food, a lot is deep fried and the oil needed changing as everything was dark brown and crispy. Came for tapas and was rather underwhelmed, sauces tasted straight for a jar.

Good food and very good service. Wouldn't say it was the best, most authentic bbq in the UK but scratched an itch.

Meat was very tasty, which really is the only pro. None of the waiters were very attentive. We visited Saturday night, there was no atmosphere unfortunately. They automatically add a service charge on which I dislike. I would have takeout food, but wouldn’t visit again.

Smokehouse is the hidden American barbecue gem in Wakefield. Honestly from the food, drinks to the ambience, you get yum and relaxation, just the kind of mellow everyone needs for date night or lunch date

A good menu and nice food at £20 - £30 a head. However, our table was booked for 7pm and the food did not arrive until 8.30, by which time we were a little disappointed. Admittedly, we were a large group and the food is cooked fresh, however 1 ½ hours is a long time to wait especially as the restaurant was quietening down and longer than other smaller restaurants with similar staffing levels.

The food was phenomenal and the cocktails were amazing. Staff was lovely and very attentive, can’t fault the place. Venue looks lovely inside, will definitely come back again.

Visited with family for a midweek tea recently, booked in advance but restaurant wasn’t too busy when we arrived. Nice selection of specials on the board as well as an interesting menu. 3 chose the burgers of differing varieties all thoroughly enjoyed and I had the chicken shawarma which was absolutely delicious can highly recommend. Nice clean restaurant well done out with comfy booth seating in many places, nice friendly efficient staff: would definitely return

Felt really hungry and decided on the trio of meat which was more than a match. The crackling on the belly pork was perfectly done.

The food here is amazing, but unfortunately again the service has let it down. Came for Father’s Day, service slow, tapas served without plates, and then came to ask if we were finished when we were still sat with knife and fork in hand. Father’s Day, 4pm not even that busy… just little bits that are noticeable. However, the food is worth it…

Had a meal today for Father's day. Was disappointed. Looks beautiful, the decor is lovely. My husband chose the Full Monty burger. This was very small. A tiny pot of coleslaw and a few chips. My daughter and I had 5 different dishes of tapas. The food was nice and tasty but very small portions. We had to ask for a plate each and thought the staff where very inexperienced. The prices are on the high side, which we don't mind as long as the food and experiences match, but sadly they don't. We have come away still hungry! Unfortunately we won't be returning.

Found this place for a spot of lunch. We were the first ones in. The place was beautiful, clean, and definitely had a good feel place to it. The service was quick. The bartender and the waiter were both helpful. There were so much to choose from the menu (see photos) they gave us reccomendations on what meal was a fan favourite etc. We ordered: "Nachos" to start with then"The Full House" burger and "The Chicken and Halloumi" Burger. (See Photo's attached) Absolutely incredible!! Tender, Tasty fully stacked goodness. I was blown away with it. The portion sizes were generous for an 18 stone man it filled me really well. The price is standard, it's not cheap but it's not expensive either but the quality is definitely worth the money. I could not discredit the food here from start to finish. I would highly recommend coming here with family and friends if you fancy a meaty feast bonanza.

We celebrated my half birthday here (half birthdays are a thing) and we had a lovely time. The food was delicious and the service was great. x

Toilets were a mess. Staff did apologise and said ours was only table to notify them, umm. Food was brilliant as before.

The workers were very nice and friendly, the only issue I have is with my food, I ordered the 27£ steak-10oz and it was in a bath of oil, and so was the mac n cheese. Overall my boyfriend liked his food.

Really pleasantly surprised. The food was fantastic, particularly the pulled pork croquettes and Korean chicken burger (closely followed by the belly pork). Service was attentive and friendly. The interior didn't seem to match the food on offer, and the both seats we were in just seemed to cut you off from the remainder of the restaurant. It was also quite cold inside, which my wife and kids didn't particularly like. We would 100% revisit and recommend.

We went into town for food and were passing and decided to see if they had a free table luckily it was early afternoon so we were in luck. We sat a large table which was good job as we had tapas. The food came out quick and was lovely. Would highly recommend.

Visited for the first time yesterday and will definitely return. I went for the BBQ combo of Brisket and Pulled Pork and my friend had the Rack of Ribs. Both dishes were cooked to perfection, really tender and full of flavour. Both of us opted for the Banoffee Pie for dessert. You definitely get your money's worth with the portions served. Staff were really welcoming, and overall a really good dining experience.

My partner fancied ribs for lunch and we found Smokehouse on TripAdvisor. Staff were friendly and attentive and the decor and atmosphere were spot on. We had a couple of cocktails each which were delicious. I had fish tacos and potato skins and my partner had the ribs and pulled pork combo. Food quality was excellent and the menu had lots to choose from. We'll definitely go back.

I love this place. Great food, great people, and great value for money. We travel from Hull just to eat here as the food is beautiful! Absolute must if you're visiting wakefield.

It was our 1st time and safe to say won't be the last, a great vibe from the get go. The service was great, atmosphere was super chill but most of all the food was excellent value for money. Would highly recommend the brisket, belly pork & cracking with the hand cut chips (propper lush) as well as the Smoke house pilsner which was clean, crisp and refreshing. Our bill came to £51 which for 2 plates of food and 2 drinks I don't think is bad at all. We will be back!!!!!

It was quiet but we were not made to feel rushed nor did we feel like we were ignored and left to our own devices for too long. Amazing, friendly atmosphere, tasty food and good prices too.

We arrived to be greeted by quite a rude member of staff in charge who was quick to inform us we had an hour and a half before he needed our table back. Upon getting seated, drink orders were taken and didn't arrive for 15 minutes. When we reminded the same guy we hadn't had our drinks, he rolled his eyes and said 'yea I know. We are busy.' There were 6 tables!! Food arrived and was mediocre. Ribs were full of fat that hadn't been trimmed and consequently veins and blood vessels that hadn't been removed. We were upset to have paid £65 to leave hungry and still end up needing to eat again. Definitely won't be returning, quality/quantity are not reflected in the inflated prices

Looked way more impressive than it tasted. Brisket, gravy great but why go to the effort of smoking brisket all day to pair it with dense hard burgers. At least use a panade in the burger mixture or have smash burgers. Disappointed.

quiet as it was weekday lunch but I suspect it's quite lively in an evening. interesting and unusual food not sure I would call it a BBQ place as there was much that wasn't meat or BBQ sauce.

Lovey staff and atmosphere, we we're a little bit disappointed with some of the the meals. The burgers, I think was a frozen patties, very dry, the price didn't reflect this. The chicken resembles a greasey deep fried fish. But the pulled pork, and brisket very very nice. I was told the ribs were excellent. But we weren't put off as there are many other items we would like to try (looking at other tables)

Decided to try a new smoke house as we normally go to hickorys. Sorry but for the price the food was very average. We got bao buns and at that price, 2 really small buns with little to not much filling and no sauce inside is pretty pathetic. We also got the fish tacos again , very poor. It wasn't a taco at all, it was some kind of small flat bread the same size as the bao bun, again with no filling and half of the ingredients missing. It isn't a taco so don't label it as a taco and for £8.50 it's daylight robbery. We got the beef brisket which had no flavour and came on the plate all wet. It didn't really taste like much and I had to ask for some bbq sauce to put on it. The louisiana ribs were good but again not much flavour as I was expecting. Service was poor but it was during the holidays so we didn't mind so much but we never got asked for drinks or anything else. But servers pleasant and polite. Looked understaffed. Not their fault. Place itself is really nice, good decor and clean. All in all for the quality of food and prices you charged for it we won't be venturing back.

I’ve visited this place once before and the food was spot on, service was great and drinks was spot on. This time however, terrible. When we first arrived we weren’t greeted with as little as a Hello, to then to told we only had an hour and half at our table. Poor attitude. In the hour and half we were given, from ordering drinks and receiving them, was 25 minutes. My partner then had to go ask a member of staff to take our food order to which he had a reply of “we are very busy” again poor impolite attitude. We then received the food, personally in my opinion I’ve cooked better salmon myself and the noodles were way over done and went clumpy and stuck together. When I questioned this to the member of staff, yes, she’s tried to resolve the issue but again stinking attitude. This visit was a version of events that I didn’t like and unfortunately I will not be visiting again because of this. All in all, the food was not worth the price.

Quiet night but we were early food excellent tbh never had a bad meal. Would definitely recommend

Came here for a meal with my boyfriend the atmosphere was lovely and we got served fairly quickly. I ordered the holy cow burger and my boyfriend ordered the bbq combo and the food was delicious. The service we received was amazing and the staff were very polite. Safe to say I will be returning soon.

Went for lunch here with the husband after being really disappointed with other tapas restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious. Big dish of huge spicy olives , followed by six tapas . All were gorgeous! Order five or over tapas and get a free bottle of wine 🍷 The young man who served us was very helpful and efficient. Definitely be returning.

Food was subpar, ordered an eagle chicken burger for it to come extremely dry and half was batter. Took mains over an hour and a half to come, no glasses cleared from the table. Garlic bread was okay. Went to pay at bar and staff mentioned that I left half my meal. I said that I thought the food was poor. Only to be told that I’m rude for making this comment when I’m a paying customer! Absolutely appalling customer service. WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

Tapas at lunchtime Generous sized portions. We had 5 tapas between 2 of us and a free bottle of house wine. All of the food was tasty and really good.

As a regular Trip Advisor contributor, I always try to be honest and fair with reviews. We have visited the Smokehouse venue many times as a group of 6 adults and have always had a great time and the reviews have been very positive. ! Unfortunately someone has dropped the ball and last nights visit was painfully slow and unremarkable. Whilst we were seated very quickly, we were unfortunately placed next to a table of about 16 who appeared to have a “No Volume” button which was painful and became worse as the night progressed. Not the venues vault but it just adds to a poor night. The main reason for the visit was to eat one of their fabulous Fillet steaks! So how do you think you’d feel, when told that they had run out of that steak? The only option left was the “Ribeye” which was ok but had the associated lines of gristle/fat which instead of melting in the mouth, were of the type that crunched and grinded when chewed which isn’t a nice experience. The rest of the starters and food was good! I asked the manager (?) how could a steak house not have enough for a busy Saturday night. I was told it wasn’t a steak house but a “smokehouse”. I asked him again and he shrugged his shoulders at me in a “who cares manner” The two young waitresses need to listen and had to keep coming back to clarify orders. Instead of standing at one end of the table, walk down to each person so you can hear them. One of them repeatedly kept returning to ask if they could remove plates etc but there was still food on the plates being eaten. Now I know fresh food has to be cooked but we were sat for ages just waiting for the food and the gap inbetween the starters and mains was just too long. Now I don’t usually remark as such on the prices…but….come on £10.50 for a glass of white wine is just too much. The steak was definitely not worth the £27 asking price on this occasion. Overall and taking in everything from the night, it’s “off” the “revisit” list for a good while. I hope it’s a one off, as previous visits have been excellent. When people just shrug their shoulders at you and come out with a lame excuse, you can tell it’s not their venue.

Nice restaurant in the centre of Wakefield The menu has a great variety and many items took our fancy, we opted for a combo plate that came with 2 different meats plus sides The food was very tasty and we enjoyed it very much but I do feel there should be more of the meat brought or at least offer to get a little more if required

Came with big family party for my birthday. Extremely disappointed, starters were ok but all came at different times, had to ask a waitress where one was as everyone else had finished theirs and she just looked absolutely clueless as to why we were talking to her. New waiter didn’t even know what dishes he was bringing out and looked at us to answer for him, fair enough he’s new but come on, train your staff the basics. Didn’t get free bottle of wine even though we ordered tapas. One blonde girl walking around just playing with her hair and we didn’t understand the point in her being there, she didn’t do a thing all night, she just looked like she’d got lost. We didn’t get asked if we wanted a drink the whole night, had to keep asking where our mains were, an hour and 45 minutes later they arrived and my ‘jerk’ chicken burger was so bad, the bread sopping wet and falling to bits and the chicken was just plain chicken breast with none of the crap cut off it and slightly seasoned. the ‘manager’ said this was cause the chef had put ‘loads of sauce on it’ but there was no sauce at all, bone dry chicken, didn’t put any spicy sauce in like I asked and when I requested it they brought me a squeezey bottle to do it myself. Cajun chips came plain and when we told them they just sprinkled some Cajun seasoning just on the top, meat was all fatty and sparse on the bbq combo dish, boneless chicken wings were just chicken tenders!!?? The ribs had no meat on at all literally just bone, curry was cold and plain with no flavour to it at all. Everything bang average, staff unbelievably immature, very badly trained with no customer service skills or communication skills. The managers response when we told him all this was ‘I can only apologise’ so we had to request for money to be knocked off our bill, which they did- fair enough but we had to really push for this. Feels like they hire very young staff and don’t bother training them. Honestly a very, very poor experience and would never go back or recommend to anyone. Don’t ignore the bad reviews they’re all very accurate. The only member of staff I appreciated tonight was the girl with the dark hair who first took our order, she was the only one with any customer service skill or any sense.

We came in last weekend as a group of 4 and the place and food was brilliant. The service from the bar man (largish guy with a ponytail) was to be desired. One of our party ordered another rum and coke but it came in a very large glass with lots if coke in. He was asked to take it back and bring one in a small glass with less coke like the previous one. We watched him go back to the bar and pour half of the big glass into a small glass and then fetch it back! We sent it back and asked for a complete new drink which he wasn't happy about. If we were paying for a double rum we wanted a double rum. We had two girls serving us our food. One of which only looked young but was fantastic and knew the foods when asked what she recommended. The other girl who called herself Lana, was friendly and chatty telling us about uni and wanting to become a civil servant and moving to London. When it came to paying the bill I asked about tips and if they went to individuals. Lana told us that if we paid on card the tips went to all the staff but if we paid cash it went to individual staff. So I decided to give each of the girls £10 each in cash as a tip and gave it to Lana and she said she would pass it on onto the other girl who I didn't catch the name of. She went back to the till and seemed to pass the money to the guy at the bar who had brought the drink. We didn't think anything of it at the time But then the initial girl was passing us and we called her over to let her know we had passed on the £10 tip just for her. She was shocked, thanked us with a really big smile and went straight over to Lana and asked her for it. Lana shook her head and said something and walked off. The four of us at our table had watched it all and to say I was fuming was and understatement. My husband laughed and told me I had clearly just been scammed and thats why he doesnt like leaving tips for anyone. We were leaving at this point and my husband didnt want me to cause a scene as the restaurant so I said nothing and left. My point is enjoy the food, watch the drinks are full measures and are what you ordered and DO NOT leave tips as you have no idea where its going!!!

2nd visit 1st went in Feb. 2023 service good polite friendly staff food was very very good had 3 tapas fish tacos lamb tagine and the coconut prawns my partner had the ribs yes its slow food service then its not fast food and well worth the wait then you know its freshly cooked

food was bang on average looked sad and dry , We then had a full tray of drinks spilled on us by wait staff and wasn’t even offered a free drink the full bill was given to us with out no adjustments , only a half arsed apology , avoid and get some meat from farmfoods it would be a better experience

Absolutely amazing atmosphere and the table service was 100% the only thing that let our experience down was the meat and the quantity and quality. We assumed the meat would be smoked meat with it been called the smokehouse, unfortunately we were disappointed as it wasn't smoked meat, it was as though the meat had just been slowly cooked in an oven. The meat didn't seem of great quality, I've bought ribs with more meat on them in a supermarket so that was also disappointing, maybe my expectations were a little high to begin with, I don't know. Don't get me wrong, the meat was nice and full of flavour but the only reason we booked the meal was because we assumed it was a proper smokehouse. We have eaten smoked meat all over the world including Las Vegas, we didn't expect it to be like some of the top smoked house restaurants we've been to a previously, but we did expect it to be what it says on the tin so-to-speak. For this reason, we won't be re-visiting and was very disappointed in the price compared to proper smokehouses we've been to previously that were legit. We found it very over priced for the lack of. If you like BBQ style restaurants and amazing cocktails however, I'd recommend this place for you. The atmosphere and decor was amazing and the staff were very accommodating, the restaurant is in a good place and easy to find. We did enjoy our experience but won't be re-visiting.

We visited Sunday lunchtime for a family birthday. The food was absolutely delicious, we had a variety of meals from the BBQ Combo to some tapas. All of it was lovely and the young girl that served us was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

The food was amazing, which makes it even worse, as the chef and everyone behind the scenes making the great dishes to be let down by front of house. When the bill came, a disagreement ensued. My son ordered the kids cheeseburger, the waitress obviously assumed it was an adult meal, and then went on to argue with me. I’m sorry but don’t argue, talk back to the customer and make assumptions. She saw sense in the end and amended accordingly. If I lived in the local area I wouldn’t be going back because of the service. Shame really, as the food I couldn’t fault.
